Fantastic experience: As a 6’10 man with plenty of lower back and neck pain, I can’t express my gratitude enough to this establishment for raising my standard of living immensely. I went from dealing with daily pain requiring frequent stretching, to having almost no pain for days. The quality of care is phenomenal and so are nice people at the front counter. Great customer service, accurate and efficient massages and chiro care, and both doctors I’ve worked with really care about the patient. Highly recommend.

Dr. Chris has worked magic for the sciatic issues I have and helping with tension headaches, TMJ, neck/shoulder misalignment issues. He even helped to drain deep sinus congestion I had for months after an upper respiratory infection!! They are very caring also!!
Negative experience: This place is awful! They advertise free consultations on their website, but after my visit, my insurance was billed $648 and I received a bill for $391. When I asked about it, they informed me that the free consultations only apply to car accident patients, but that’s not mentioned anywhere on their site. The staff is also very disrespectful and rude and talk to you as if you are less than if you ask questions or disagree about something that has to do with your bill. They also charged me for services that were never performed. Proceed with caution if you’re considering this chiropractor. Also whoever responded to my review is not being truthful, while I was told my insurance was out of network I was still led to believe the consultation was free and was charged for services I did NOT receive! No one talked with me about how much anything would cost or a treatment plan and how much it would be, they literally just told me I was out of network and I had no issue being out of network, the issue lies with being mislead about a free consultation and then being charged for services not provided.
We are sorry you had an unfortunate experience at the clinic, but we can only tell you we are not in network with your insurance so many times before you actually come in for your appointment. When looking at our website, you filled in the form for a free consultation as a personal injury patient. Free consultations for personal injury patients is very common because most of these patients don't know there rights. We want to make sure they are able to get the help they need whether they at fault or not at fault for the accident. We asked questions and found out you weren't a personal injury patient and at that point we gave you the option of keeping your appointment after letting you know we were not in your network. We always want to make sure you understand that if there is a chance you will receive a bill you know this in advance, and you still scheduled the appointment knowing you were going to an out of network provider. Once you arrived at the clinic we once again made sure you knew we were out of your network and would receive a bill once we found out what your insurance covered. Our fees are in accordance with the Oregon fee schedule. I'm not sure what we could have done differently but we are still sorry you didn't understand we were out of your network and would receive a bill for all the services you received from the clinic. Negative experience: Stay away!!!!They will keep making appointments and say your insurance will cover it very deceptive. Then when you try to settle for their deceptive practices they won't!!! they will send you to collections!! then the collections will try to sue you!!
Every patient is responsible for their own insurance. We do a verification on everyone's insurance and then we tell them what the insurance company told us. At that time it is up to the patient to decide what you want to do. Ocassionally we have people that still want to believe their insurance company will pay for everything regardless of what we were told and conveyed to the patient. Unfortunately this will leave that patient with a balance that is owed to the clinic because the insurance company only paid what they told us they would pay. At this time some patients believe they are no longer responsible for the bill they accrued treating at the clinic. We offer assorted payment options at the clinic, but every once in a while the patient disappears and refuses to pay their bill, so at this time it is out of our hands and we don't have the man power to track someone down. So usually after multiple attempts to set something up we have to turn things over to a collection agency. As you see by our reviews, over 95% of our patients are extremely happy with our clinic. We do wish things would be different but we can only do our part in getting you better and giving you the most accurate insurance information that is given to us. Best wishes!
Fantastic experience: I've been driving by Healthy Back Chiropractic since we purchased a home in Salem a couple years ago, and kept telling myself I need to check that place out... for the past few weeks I've barely been able to walk! After one awesome session with Dr Stevenson and I was able to mow my lawn the next day I highly recommend seeing Dr Stevenson for your Chiropractic needs! He's an awesome person and truly cares about his patients, as does his whole team! They went above and beyond when it came to helping me figure out insurance and everything else. Not only is the Dr highly effective (and I can’t say that about every Chiro) but the staff is friendly and well versed in dealing with insurance companies and the VA. If for some reason, my insurance was no longer covered here, I would pay out of pocket and call it money well spent.
Negative experience: My husband has been a client for many years. The physician is very good at his job and extremely nice. However, the problem lies with the office staff. There was a question of Billing instead of them, wanting to Check if the money had been received through their bank account, they made us go through three days of dealing with our bank to get proof to them that it had been paid. Which it had on the day of service. The reason it took so long for us is because my husband works weekdays When the bank is closed. If they would’ve been willing to just check their accounts, they would’ve seen we had paid the bill and we could’ve been treated respectfully. When I, respectfully, communicated that I was unhappy with the process, and was even considering taking our business elsewhere. I was told in a very unpleasant tone that that was perfectly OK with them. Evidently everyone can be very friendly, unless there’s an issue and they do not want to handle it. They will treat you as if you are wrong. I’m very upset about the whole incident. I may sound like I am a complainer, I guess I am but only because we are such long-term customers and we were treated as if we were trash I received a response from you, I’m not quite sure who responded to this, however, there was no disrespect given to your staff, and again I resent the fact that that was even suggested. The complaint was not about the fact that your machine was not working. The complaint was about how your staff handled the situation and treated us as patients. My husband is a very kind man and has been every time he’s been in there. Simply ask the chiropractor about that, the specific chiropractor is Christopher Stevenson. The treatment by your staff, Was unacceptable and rude. If a person cannot communicate that with you, respectfully, it is beyond me how you can feel that you were correct. I believe this response is being given to me by one of the office staff. And of course, this would be a response that this individual would give. If this was one of the physicians, I could almost guarantee that this would not be the way that they responded to this complaint.
It is very unfortunate to hear that there was a problem, especially to receive such a bad rating. Once in a blue moon there is a problem with the credit card system. In this particular case the credit card machine said approved but the computer system said it wasn’t. If something like this happens, we ask the patient to check their bank account online to verify the charge happened and send us a snapshot. This will allow us to not to have to wait for the credit card processing company to send us a report showing that the charge occurred and was processed. So, we let the account sit until we get verification. If a person calls in and asks about their balance, before they send us proof of the payment, the account will reflect that. It usually never gets to this step because most of our patients check online and send it over usually the next day or sometimes the same day. Our staff is also instructed not to communicate with patients that are belligerent. Occasionally a person will call in and instead of speaking calmly, they belittle the staff. This is unacceptable. The old saying, the customer is always right, isn’t true. We can all be wrong sometimes; it’s how you communicate that will determine how the problem is settled. We do our best to get to a solution as quickly as possible whether you’re a long-time patient or the first time coming to the office. We treat everyone with respect and do what we can to get to the right solution. Again, the one thing we don’t tolerate is being disrespectful to the staff.

Monique, LMT, does a great job at digging deep into muscles with her massages. Definitely recommend if you’re having any pain/discomfort to go see them!

Fantastic experience: I have to give background info. for people to understand. I was abused as a child, I HATE people touching my back. I was in sooo much pain I didnt even tell the staff of my fears. He brought me in asked questions and took Xrays. It was really clear what the problem was, I was apprehensive due to my fear. But I still didnt tell him. I wanted to be back to me. He used a decompression handheld device. (Not touching me) then adjusted me and put my back in and then some I didn't even know were out. I am a very active 40 yrs old women. He still doesn't know my fear. But adjusting my back: he got it done in less than 2 minutes. I had to come back 2x only because it compressed my syatic nevers for 3 weeks. Again only touching me as he needed to. I'm so grateful for the care and professionalism that he doesn't even know still. I will recommend him and his staff for anyone to see including giving up a little personal issues of myself.

Fantastic experience: I had a rib that was dislocated for a week, which I thought was broken went to doctors to get x-ray, ended up in ER after a week cuz I couldn't breathe or move very well without pain. The ER doctor told me I should visit my chiropractor, so I went straight there and he adjusted me and my rib went back into place. The next morning I was brand new and now can move and breathe with ease, thank you healthy back chiropractic you are awesome!

Our building is very large. We have over 3000 sqft of space used for patients. Our waiting room is 20ft by 20ft. We have placed natural barriers up every two seats. Each patient is also placed in their own treatment room with their family members, which keeps the contact from person to person down to a minimum. As for being masked or unmasked the science is still undecided. For every study showing its affective there is a study showing its not. Every person has their own traumas. In saying that you don't know what has happened to that person, so you don't know why they aren't wearing a mask. The most important thing is our staff is masked and we take all the necessary precautions when treating and dealing with our patients. Remember everybody is special and we don't have the right to persecute someone because of their beliefs. That is what makes this country so great, we have a choice and rights. I for one will not take that away from anyone. We do thank you for allowing us to care for you and wish you all the best.
Fantastic experience: The staff is both friendly and professional, they are also timely and get you into an exam room shortly after you arrive for your appointment. The chiropractic care I've received is excellent. I was in an accident which totaled my car but after only two or three treatments I felt noticeably better. My back pain had been keeping me up until 3:00 AM to 4:00 AM in the morning at that point I would get up and take second hot shower and then would be able to get a few hours sleep. Those showers are now a thing of the past and after only two to three treatments. I'm so glad to be under their care.

Fantastic experience: I was refereed to Healthy Back by a friend at work. I had seen a doctor and gotten refereed to physical therapy for back pain. I saw Chris first at Healthy Back and after a consultation he said I had bulged a disk in my lower back. The physical therapist said the same thing. I had lower back pain and numbness in my leg above the knee. I started seeing Chris twice a week for adjustments and other therapy. After about three week and a treatment he told me I would notice the numbness going away and sure enough it was gone a week later! I saw him and went to physical therapy for about a month and all my pain is gone as well as the numbness. I highly recommend Health Back. Chris is the best and the staff a great. Very knowledgeable.

Fantastic experience: These folks are wonderful! I suffered from 2 herniated discs and was in extreme pain from sciatica. I could hardly walk. Sitting, standing, laying down.... everything was painful. I was told that surgery was the only way to fix it. Dr. Chris and his staff have been helping me for 9 months and I am able to do just about everything I use to do!...all without surgery! The Lord has really used them to bring healing to my back. I am very thankful for all they have done!

Negative experience: Horrible service and didn’t even get anything done! Spoke to someone on the phone who gave me a guaranteed price quote of $200 or less depending on what’s needed for 1st appointment- walked in for my 2 o clock appointment waited outside several mins for them to open the door to let me in & WAS TOLD IT WOULD BE NEAR $300 & was told I could sign up for a membership if I wanted a cheaper??? Why would you get a membership for a service you never tried out before Super unprofessional & not knowledgeable
Alhia we are sorry you had an unpleasant experience. First we will start with the door being open. The door at the clinic is usually open to let patients in before the 2 oclock hour. The day you came the front desk forgot to unlock the door and was sitting there waiting for patients to come in. Once she saw the patients couldn't get in, she ran over to unlock the door. I'm sure we have all made a simple mistake like that. I see from your review, there was a lot of confusion. Are prices for each individual differs depending on their decision on how to pay. We bill the same charges for everyone, but if you have insurance, cash or have a membership in a health oriented club, the amount you are responsible for is different. If we don't bill the same amount to each patient, that is called having a dual fee schedule. That is illegal to do. So the price range that you were given is correct. This is much easier explained in person than over the phone. We always try to give each patient the best service for the lowest cost. We hope you find a clinic that will work better for you. Negative experience: Complete waste of time. “Dr” Chris is a low life charging me more then the written agreement. I paid $1600 upfront and due to their error they tried charging me an additional $700. Do your research before going to healthy back chiropractic.
We are sorry you were unhappy with your service, but at the time you seemed to enjoy it and received great benefit. It is true you paid for the service that you received, but if you have additional services more than what you paid, you still have to pay for those additional services. We are sorry for the confusion. It's like if you go out to eat and pay for your food, then you're still hungry. If you order more food, you still have to pay for that additional food. Again we are sorry you weren't satisfied with the amount you had to pay for the additional services that you received.
