Our comment from Nutrifinder.net about NW Primary Care - Milwaukie Clinic:
The NW Primary Care - Milwaukie Clinic is dedicated to providing quality healthcare with a personal touch. Many patients commend the compassion and attentiveness of their physicians, especially Dr. Rhodes, Dr. Subra, and Dr. Herber, noting their ability to listen and address health concerns thoroughly.
Key highlights include:
- Patient-Centered Care: Most patients have experienced genuine care from doctors who prioritize their well-being and take the time to understand their medical history.
- Accessibility: A good number of reviews praise the clinic's friendly staff and the ease of scheduling appointments, although some have noted long wait times on the phone.
- Specialized Expertise: Several doctors are specifically recognized for their areas of specialization and attentive patient management.
However, there are areas of concern that have been reported:
- Scheduling Issues: Numerous patients have expressed frustration over appointment cancellations and the difficulty of contacting the clinic due to long hold times.
- Billing Complaints: Some users have reported surprise charges and billing errors, leading to dissatisfaction with the administrative side of care.
- Staff Communication: Experiences with front office staff have varied, with some patients feeling that they were treated dismissively.
Overall, while NW Primary Care - Milwaukie Clinic has its challenges, many patients still appreciate the commitment to improvement and the quality of medical care they have received, with hopes for enhanced administrative efficiency in the future.
NW Primary Care - Milwaukie Clinic: Reviews
Negative experience: I tried going to the West Linn office, good luck finding the entrance! Being a couple minutes late unqualified me for healthcare. Prepare yourself for a scheduling nightmare. After their arduous phone experience navigating their endless choices, all the while enduring the constant prompts to use the online option to schedule an appointment I decided to try it. Big mistake! Round and round you go only to get told at the very end they can’t verify call and appointment is cancelled!!! This is just another corporation squeezing every cent out of the consumer. Looking for a mom and pop outfit that truly respects people. Oh and please spare me the “we are truly sorry for your unfortunate experience “ drivel.
Hi Mike, Thank you for sharing your feedback. We use feedback to improve our patient experience (including adding additional signage at our West Linn location!). I have passed your comment to our management team, but you can also send an email to [email protected] if you have any further feedback or questions. Thank you, NWPC
Positive experience: I have no complaints about my DR here but trying to get an appointment in a reasonable amount of time is a bit ridiculous. Lack of staffing on scheduling line means very long hold times if you can get through at all. Then you are looking at multiple months out for an available appointment.
Hi Russell, Thank you for sharing your review with us. We are diligently working to address our phone wait times and appointment access. I will make sure to pass your review on to our management team. If you have any further thoughts or questions, feel free to email [email protected]. All the best, NWPC
Fantastic experience: This place is awsome, doctor is super nice and polite. Front desk lady's rock and never a issue with them. All the people leaving questable reviews should re think what they said, maybe it's the patients that are in pain and bitchy are the issue..think about it...
Scott, we're glad to hear you had a great experience with NWPC!
Negative experience: Their billing office billed my physical as a standard office visit and it cost me over $800!!! They don’t bill correctly here. Watch your statements!
Hi Kerry, I have passed your comment to our business office manager for further review. Thank you! NWPC Patient Care
Negative experience: $200 to see a doctor over Zoom for 30 minutes if you're uninsured. They should be ashamed of themselves.
Hi Amy, It sounds like you are referring to our Surecare pricing, which is our program for patients who are uninsured. The $200 charge would apply to either a virtual or in-person appointment for a basic office visit. It's important to us to keep our care affordable and accessible, and I will pass this feedback along to our business office team for review. If you need anything else, please do not hesitate to reach out via email at [email protected]. Thank you! NWPC
Negative experience: I had an appointment in June and the morning of the appointment they rescheduled me for 6 weeks out. I went to my appointment this morning and was 3 minutes late. They said I didn’t finish all the paperwork. Which I did, and they wouldn’t see me. This is ridiculous
Hi Julie, I'm sorry we missed the mark with your experience. I'd like to look into this and see if we can make it right for you. If you have a moment, please send an email to [email protected] with your contact information. All the best, NWPC
Negative experience: Are you guys even accepting new patients? Your automated system for new patient scheduling almost seems rigged. I waited for 30 minutes twice on two different calls, even though the system kept telling me I was “Next in Queue” without ever being able to speak to a representative. You guys need to hire more staff
Hello! I'm sorry for the frustration with scheduling an appointment. I have sent your comment to our IT team to look into and ensure there are no issues with our phone lines. We are, unfortunately, facing longer wait times than we would like (but are actively working on a resolution!). If you continue to have trouble, please email [email protected] and reference this review. Thank you! NWPC
Negative experience: I'm incredibly disappointed with NWPC in Milwaukie and advise others to EXHAUST ALL OTHER OPTIONS before entering care here. Their overburdening of patients with digital paperwork and hoop jumping is exactly the opposite of being "Patient Centered". I showed up today 15 minutes early after providing 3 confirmations of my appointment for their digital systems only to have my appointment summarily cancelled by the front desk clerk. Apparently I didn't find their text message from less than an hour prior requiring me to fill out several ADDITIONAL forms online. 8 weeks of waiting for a 15 minute appointment about urgent medical needs, completely wasted. NWPC run a stripped-down, understaffed operation by forcing you to administrate your own care and medical chart, and they will have no remorse about wasting your time if you miss a spot. Don't come here if you have a busy life and can't put everything on hold for an hour before your appointment to check and re-check your phone and submit to their redundant digital interrogations. Don't come here if you can't arrive 30 minutes early to sweat for confirmation that you've checked every box and may now be allowed to see the doctor. Don't come here if you expect human-to-human consideration for your urgent health needs and goals.
Hello, First, I apologize for the frustration with NWPC. I'd like to look into what happened and see if we can make it right for you, and improve our processes to prevent this in the future. If you have a moment, please email [email protected] and reference this review. We can also ensure your appointment is rescheduled. Thank you, NWPC
Fantastic experience: So far, great first impression. After looking for ages to find a good doctor, I’m impressed by my first meeting with Dr. Rhodes and his expertise and approach to medicine. Let’s hope this is the start of a good long-term relationship. As they say, “Don’t Let Me Down!”
Thank you for sharing your experience, David!
Positive experience: The front-office experience just keeps getting worse. I love my my Primary Care Physician, but the overall experience of being a NW Primary Care patient continues it's downward decline. My sense is staff are lacking good leadership and are starting to take it out on patients. This is across a lot of different interactions where staff come off as patronizing when holding patients to new punitive policies being implemented -- whether it be forcing patients to use Phreesia (which is an incredibly tedious [bordering obnoxious] software platform) or scolding patients for being 12 minutes early vs. 15 minutes early. As I said, I still like my doctor, but I'm definitely looking at alternatives to services outside of the NW Primary Care network. If anything, a place where if I'm going to have weekly appointments, I'm not going to be stalked daily by Phreesia asking me to confirm my payment information multiple times a week.
Hi Trevor, Thank you for sharing your feedback with our team. We are currently re-evaluating several of our policies and procedures in order to improve the experience for our patients. I have shared your comments with our management team for consideration. If you have any further feedback or comments, we'd love to hear! Please email [email protected]. All the best, NWPC
Negative experience: This office is awful. My weight seems to be the only concern they care about. They are rude on calls, short on time at visits, and I absolutely don’t recommend them. I asked for a neurology referral, every note about my condition was wrong - like they weren’t listening at all. Faxes weren’t going through from them to the referral provider. I kept trying. I called and asked to just pick up the referral to bring to the specialist as the specialty clinic said that might be easiest at this point. Despite visiting 3x, they said it would be a lot to print and acted like I’m asking for the world to just get the referral printed. They are my records and I am 100% entitled to them. I offered to pay. “We will see what we can do. It’s like 20-30 pages… not just 3-4.” Oh gosh. 20-30 pages. I’m so so tired of the medical field and all the hoops I have to jump through. Just another bad office. Save the hassle and find another place. Oh, and last appointment, after being asked if I have considered losing weight (gosh, no I just like being obese, thanks) and mentioning medication that might help - I asked for it. They said insurance absolutely won’t cover and they won’t give me a prescription. I called my insurer who said they do cover and it was $25.00. Honestly, even if they didn’t, why can’t it be my choice to pay out of pocket. Such a disaster.
Hi Lindsey, I'm sorry for the frustrating experience with our clinic. I would like to look into this for you so we can see what happened and if we can make this right for you. If you have a moment, please send an email to [email protected] and reference this review. All the best, NWPC
Negative experience: I stopped going here about 3 years now. I saw them while as a teen till my early 20s. I am now starting to recover as a person after receiving care from them as a teenager. None of them believed my birth control was causing me pain. None of them treated me as an individual. Even now, I feel anxiety when trying to talk to my doctor out of fear that they just may not believe what I am dealing with. Turns out I do have a chronic condition that they would've never found, let alone believe that I was dealing with. So many of my symptoms they tied with menstrual stuff or the birth control. The first birth control they gave me left me pain internally (that I still deal with after having it removed for over 3 years now), and the second one has left scars on my arm. My last appointment here was to remove an internal birth control, causing me pain to the point of not being able to stand. They sent me home because I had not shown up early, I showed up at the time scheduled for the appointment. I begged them to just take the thing out and not replace it with anything, just to stop the pain. My doctor said no. I ended up having to get help from planned parenthood because the new appointment would have been in a month. They were fine with me being unable to stand for a month. They did not care about me.
Hi Morgan, First, I would like to apologize for your experience with our clinic. We certainly do not want our patients to feel their care was anything short of excellent. I have shared your comments with our management team so we can do better in the future. If you have any further comments or concerns, please let us know by emailing [email protected]. Thank you for the feedback, NWPC
Negative experience: I’m not at all impressed with NW Primary Care. The doctors are ok, but the backend services are kind of lacking. They don’t use the MyHeath app. It’s some other clunky website thing. They say they have same or next day appointments for urgent care related services, but haven’t when I’ve called. That’s fine, I can go to urgent care, but why advertise if you can’t provide. They also have some strange policies about being 15-30 minutes early for any appointment or they’ll automatically cancel your appointment. Go somewhere else where you’re not just a number.
Fantastic experience: Great place, feels like the Dr really cares and listens well. I felt like it was MY choice without opinions forced on me. Really happy I found this place.
Negative experience: Their early arrival policy is ridiculous. I arrived 15 minutes before my appointment, but was told I would have to reschedule. Apparently, my time is not valuable. I will be seeking another primary care doctor.
Hi John, I'm sorry to hear about your frustrating experience. I will pass your comment along to our clinic manager for review--we value your feedback. Please let me know if you have any further questions or comments by emailing [email protected] or calling our patient care line at 503.607.2039. Thank you! NWPC
Negative experience: I have no idea how the doctors treat the patients. But I can say that the business office is not welcoming at all. I made an appointment 6 weeks ago. On Friday I received a call saying I had until end of day monday to fix a discrepancy between my full name and my preferred name. And I did my best. Now my appointment is cancelled and I am without care. If only there was some possible way I could have been alerted to the problem before friday.
Hi Brock, I'm sorry to hear about your frustrating experience. I'd like to look into this further for you, and ensure that you get the care you need. Please call our patient care line at 503.607.2039 or email [email protected] with your contact information. Thank you!
Negative experience: How this place still has 4 stars is beyond me. I’ve been looking for primary care in my area for some time now. This clinic isn’t too far from me. I’ve tried to call upwards of 10 times since I’m really needing a pcp, but this place couldn’t be bothered to answer the phone not even ONCE. In fact, I can’t even sit on hold! The IVR just states that the lines are at capacity and hangs up on me. The few times I have called earlier in the year to get a pcp for my fiancé, she was turned down repeatedly for having Medicaid as her secondary, even though they accept her primary insurance. Talk about a lazy practice. Reviewing the 1 stars, I will take the hint.
Hi Derek, I apologize for the frustrating experience with scheduling an appointment. We are actively working on addressing our wait times to schedule an appointment. You may hear an automated message asking you to call back later if our system has reached its maximum queue. We typically have a shorter wait time around 7:30 AM and 1:00 PM most days. If you continue to experience trouble, please email [email protected]. Regarding insurance, we do have policies regarding Medicaid/Oregon Health Plan that our business office can walk you through. You can give them a call at 503.659.4777. If you have any further questions or concerns, please let us know by emailing [email protected] or calling our patient line at 503.607.2039. Thank you! NWPC
Negative experience: Today my grandma had an appointment and we were already just one minute late and calling to let them know, and the lady said that they could not see her because she was going to be technically three minutes late by the time we got there. I let the front desk lady know that my grandma was peeing blood and she still said we needed to reschedule, talk about patient care . When the front desk tried to transfer me to a nurse twice it keep getting disconnected..
Negative experience: Had a similar experience to several here. They are SO hard to get in contact with via phone, offer NO email address to communicate with them through, and appear to overcharge for service. I received a $450 bill for a 15 minute meet-and-greet with Dr. Rhodes - absurd. Dr. Rhodes is a nice doc and thoughtful, but I can't recommend this outfit.
Hi Terry, I'm sorry to hear about your frustrating experience! We are continuously working to improve our phone access and we do offer secure messaging through our patient portal--if you would like to register for it, send an email to [email protected] and we'll get you taken care of. You can also call our business office directly with questions about your bill. They can be reached at 503.659.4777. If you have any further questions or feedback, please let us know--you can send an email to [email protected] or call our patient care line at 503.607.2039. Thank you!
Fantastic experience: I love this office! I see Dr. Jennifer Herber and have been for years, she is amazing. She truly cares about my health and we are always on the same page. Her medical assistants have always been great too and made me feel comfortable. The office has good hours, easy to communicate using the patient portal, great parking lot, and great location for me. They seem to take almost all insurances. If this location doesn't have a same day appointment which is rare, I can find another location that is pretty close like Happy Valley, Oregon City, or the other Milwaukie location.
Tanna, thanks for the great review and kind words about Dr. Herber!
Negative experience: Appointment cancelled morning of 2 times in a row causing me to wait 5 months just to see my primary for an annual check-up
Hi Curtis, I know it's been a few weeks, but wanted to let you know I passed your comment to our clinic manager so we can look into what happened. Apologies for the frustrating experience! If you have any further comments, please let us know by emailing [email protected] or calling 503.607.2039. Thank you!
Negative experience: Normally I love this clinic but I wouldn’t go here for birth control. The Dr for this is very nice and very well informed however schedules are hard to keep. She canceled the appointment on the day of 3 times in a row. Each time it took an extra month of waiting after already needing to wait 2 months. Because of this, my form of birth control expired even tho I planned the replacement consultation 6 months in advance. While the birth control expiring was by no fault of my own I don’t blame her too hard and understand the need to take time off. I sincerely hope our repeatedly canceled appointments were a fluke but I can’t continue to have faith in her appointments. She is very good at her job but unfortunately I can’t go through this constant mental prep work only for the rug to be pulled out from under me. Love her to pieces but planned parenthood offers better and more prompt care for the same birth control procedure.
Hi Rania, I know it's been a few weeks, but just wanted to let you know I passed your review to our clinic manager for review. We apologize for your frustrating experience with the clinic. If you have any further comments or feedback, let us know by sending an email to [email protected] or call 503.607.2039. Thank you!
Fantastic experience: I love my GP, who I have been seeing for over 15 years at this location but I also wanted to give a special shoutout to all of the staff here, who always are helpful and empathetic. Nicole, in patient communications, has been on 3 calls with me today to try to fix an error created by Walgreens pharmacy! Will hopefully continue to go here for many years to come.
Elizabeth, thank you for the kind words!
Fantastic experience: ‘Saw Dr. Melissa Thompson at the Milwaukie location today for wound care (her specialty) after a referral from one of the doctors at the Sellwood location, for a wound that hadn’t healed after 3 months. ‘Not their fault- I just kept expecting it to heal up on it’s own & finally made an appt. ‘Loved both her, & her nurses’ positive energy!! She even typed out home care instructions for me. NO doctor has ever done that! If she was a general practitioner/family doctor, I would definitely switch. They’re both obviously passionate about what they do, are efficient, and caring! I left smiling!
Thank you for the fantastic review, Cathryn! I will make sure to share this with Melissa and her team.
Negative experience: Left because they never answer their phones. To make it worse, after listening to a recording that's a minute long, the recording tells you they are too short staffed to answer their phone and it hangs up on you. This has happened every time I have called since the pandemic (which was completely understandable at that point). I don't have that kind of time.
Hi Emilie, I'm sorry to hear about your frustrating experience with our clinic. We have made some recent upgrades to our phone system in order to address these concerns, as well as improved our online scheduling platform (you can learn more about it here: nwpc.com/book-online). I will share your feedback with our office manager as we continue to improve our systems and patient access. If you have any further thoughts or questions, please let us know by sending an email to [email protected] or call us at 503.607.2039. Thank you!
Negative experience: Was turned away because I did not complete a survey that was texted to me from an unknown number and I was two minutes late due to rush hour traffic at 4 pm. No one told me I would need to complete a survey for a required follow up Appt. Waited three months for initial appointment. Got a prescription for thirty days, had a follow up scheduled for 30 days and turned away by someone who talked down to me like I was a child. Oh, and the lobby was completely empty, so I’m guessing Doc got an extra break. Changing providers. Long overdue.
Hi Josh, I’m sorry to hear about your experience with our clinic. I’ve passed along your comment to our management team and noted that our patient communications regarding appointments need clarification. In addition, I’d love to look into this for you and see if we can make it right. If you have a moment, please send me an email at [email protected] with your information so we can reach out. All the best, NWPC
Negative experience: I have been to this clinic (for my pcp) multiple times over the past three years begging them to look into my concerns for diabetes and hormones with my birth control pills and I was waved off every single time. She would ask ME, “well what tests do you want me to run?” and I wouldn’t know and she would just shrug me off and order a regular blood panel. When the results showed high glucose again and again she disregarded it. I had to keep coming back and spending more money to specifically ask her for tests that I thought would reveal what was wrong with me. Now, I have just been diagnosed with serious chronic brain conditions by a different doctor at OHSU only because my EYE DOCTOR caught the abnormality on my optic nerve. Today I tried to schedule an appointment with my PCP but I’m being denied healthcare because I have a past due balance with her clinic for a previous appointment they extorted me into - I showed up for a yearly checkup (covered and free to me) and they made it zoom last minute and gave me a $280 bill for asking about things I would have asked during my check up. TLDR; This clinic will ignore your illnesses and suck you dry financially until you develop something worse and will deny you further healthcare if you don’t let them extort you. UPDATE: they have done nothing to correct this and are threatening to send my bill to collections instead.
Hello M B, I have passed your comment to our manager, and she will reach out to you regarding your experience at our clinic. In the meantime, please let us know if you have questions or concerns in addition to your review by emailing [email protected] or calling 503.607.2039. Thank you!
Negative experience: Do not waste your time here!! I was referred to Dr. Brown at NW Primary "Care" by Included Health. After waiting for three months for the first appointment, I was turned away after I had already checked in and paid $150 deposit because Dr. Brown refuses to provide gender affirming care for transgender patients. I scheduled a second appointment because Im out of my prescription, and I thought it would be quicker to schedule with nwpc instead of finding someone else. I was supposed to have my appointment yesterday, but it was canceled a few hours in advance (I did not get a reason why). At this point, I am four weeks out of my prescription, and my body is very much reminding me why I've been taking this medication for the last five years! The person that was scheduling me said my best option was an online appointment 10 days from now. How shameful and unprofessional that northwest primary care has shunned me from their office two different times then forced me to see someone over zoom. What a way to make a patient feel welcome and cared for! I'm going to try the zoom appointment (if it doesn't get canceled), but look for a different office in the meantime. These people do not care about their patients. They will string you along and do more harm than good.
Hi Blake, I'm so sorry to hear about your poor experience. I would like to look into this further for you and see if we can make it right for you. When you have a moment, please give me a call at 503-607-2039 or email [email protected] with your contact information so we can follow up with you. Thank you!
Negative experience: What a great disappointment!! Dr. Herber was great. However, their clinic has so many rules in insurance and treatment policy that I felt great dismay. I am in health care for over 30 years myself as a doctor and never had to deal with such BS before. Thanks but not thanks!!
Hi Anita, I'm sorry to hear about your poor experience! I would love to look into this for you further. If you have a moment, please reach out to me at [email protected] or call (503) 607-2039. Thank you!
Fantastic experience: Dr. Shih treated me with empathy, respect and understanding. I could tell (from working in healthcare for 10 years) that she was highly knowledgeable, skilled and caring when it came to my complex health needs. Highly recommend.
Thank you for the kind words!
Negative experience: Absolute joke of a facility. Would not recommend. Turned away at check-in because I was only 10 min early and not 15. Unnecessarily long online only check-in form full of irrelevant questions. Top it of with passive aggressive staff, and you have yourself 1/5 stars.
Hi Matthew, I’m sorry to hear about your experience at NWPC. If there is anything we can do to improve your future visits, please let us know by sending an email to [email protected]. You can also call 503-607-2039.
Negative experience: My wife has had her previous two appointments cancelled by this clinic with 45 minutes notice, and by text message. This is wild to me, that a clinic which requires patients to book 4-6 weeks in advance and which requires 24 hour notice by phone if the patient needs to cancel is perfectly fine cancelling the patients appointment with 45 minute notice and won't even be bothered to pick up the phone and call to let us know. Our entire family were patients here, but we will find another clinic which cares about their patients a little more.
Hi Luke, I am sorry to hear about your family's experience with NWPC. Due to extenuating and rare circumstances, our providers may have to cancel appointments with less notice than we would like. If you have any further concerns or questions, please let me know--you can email [email protected] or call 503.607.2039. All the best!
Negative experience: They cancelled my appointment 45 minutes before by text message and no apologies when I arrived at the clinic. As patients they request 24 hours cancelation notice. You have to schedule an appointment a month in advance. This is not their first time cancel my appointment. I asked to talk to thier manager but their receptionist said the manager is having a meeting all day along. How can you trust a clinic with abusive and abrasive business manner to take a good care of their patients health?
Hi Nancy, I am sorry to hear about your family's experience with NWPC. Due to extenuating and rare circumstances, our providers may have to cancel appointments with less notice than we would like. I have passed your comment along to our management team to look into further and see if we can make this right. If you have any further concerns or questions, please let me know--you can email [email protected] or call 503.607.2039. All the best!
Negative experience: This company is confused about what "primary care" means. I caught COVID, and tried to get an appointment. They asked if I caught COVID at work. Unfortunately, I told the truth and said "I didn't know." They had to check with their administrative office and refused to see me, because they thought I *might* make a worker's comp claim in the future. I had to go to a walk-in to a doctor that had to make decisions without all the medical history that my NW Primary Care had. More expensive and more dangerous for me. This, of course, was a management decision and not the decision of any individual doctor. I have had good luck with the medical personnel in general there, but you should know that when the chips are down, the company might refuse you care for no good reason.
Hi Arthur, I have shared your review with our site manager to look into further. If you have any further comments, please send an email to [email protected] or call our patient concern line at 503.607.2039. Thank you!
Negative experience: horrible phone service, multiple busy signals, then docs send Rx to wrong pharmacy. Not once, but TWICE. And the cats team didn't bother to call and notify that an Rx was even sent! Found out after Walmart, a place this family has NEVER used texted to see if they could set up always on our phones, with out our permission. They didn't follow CDC guidelines in Rx for paxlovid, instead made up their own capricious doctor specific rules. This place is not honorable and I'm pulling our family
Hi Michael, I'm sorry to hear about your experience at our clinic. I'd like to look into this further for you. If you have a moment, please send an email to [email protected], or call 503.607.2039, with the date of your appointment and a phone number we can reach you on.
Negative experience: DO NOT GO TO ANY OF THESE LOCATIONS. Staff is mildly friendly. But the real issue is the outrageous fees. $421 for an office visit. I talked to the Dr for maybe 10 minutes. No examinations done. And on top of it if you can't make a payment on time they charge you am additional $10 fee to "reprint your bill." Drs offices are not in the business of helping and caring, they are just here to rob you of every penny they can. It's disgusting.
Hi Savannah, I'm sorry to hear about your experience. I would like to look into this for you further. If you have a moment, please send an email to [email protected] or call 503.607.2039. Thank you
Fantastic experience: My wife and I, both in our 70s, are patients of different doctors at NWPC. Our doctors think of us as people, not merely patients. The accessibility of our doctors by various means of communication is excellent, and we would not think of changing to any other practice.
Bill, thank you for the great review!
Negative experience: It took me 1 hour plus to do the covid test! Seriously??? 40 minutes in the waiting room alone
Hello, I'm sorry to hear you had a frustrating visit. Due to unprecedented circumstances affecting healthcare over the past two years, we are experiencing staffing shortages which may result in occasional wait times. If you have any additional comments about your visit, please let me know by calling (503) 607-2039 or emailing [email protected]. Thank you!
Fantastic experience: The front desk person took extra time and care with me in a respectful and caring way. Dr. Benjamima Brown is an excellent PCP and I would highly recommend her to anyone. She has helped me immensely with a professional, informed, caring and respectful manner. I usually dislike going to the doctor, but I came away from my latest visit feeling listened to and cared for, with my health concerns attended to.
Hilary, thank you for sharing this great review! I have passed it along to our Milwaukie clinic manager. We're glad to have you as an NWPC patient!
Fantastic experience: Dr. Bryden is TOP NOTCH physician! Always kind, personable, professional, and thorough. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a Primary Care Physician.
Sandy, thank you for the kind review for Dr Bryden! I will pass this along to her.
Negative experience: If you would like a provider that doesn't have a website where you can easily (and successfully) request appointments or who puts you on hold for roughly 30min every time you call for an appointment, this place is for you! Also, everyone I have ever dealt with over the phone was just cold and slightly rude. Also, I waited five days for a prescription refill, my pharmacy called every day during this time. Incredibly disappointed with NW Primary. Never before have I experienced a worst provider. Very sad. I understand staffing challenges, but other places are dealing with that as well and are able to care for their patience in a more timely fashion.
Hi A., I'm sorry to hear about your experience with our clinic. Due to unprecedented circumstances affecting healthcare providers over the past two years, we are experiencing staffing shortages and an increased demand for patient care. Our priority is always to ensure the best care possible for you and your family, and in order to provide that, our current wait time to schedule an appointment is longer than we would like. We are working hard to remedy this issue. If you have any further concerns, please let me know: call 503.607.2039 or email [email protected].
Fantastic experience: This was the 1st time I saw Dr. Herber, and I have never been more happy and relieved. She is caring, empathetic, and genuinely cares. She listened to my story, not just tuned into certain symptoms. Sadly, most doctors don't do that anymore. She never rushed me, and she asked more detail questions about my story. That alone makes you feel heard, and after all, that is what each person deserves. This may sound weird, but I have been waiting for a doctor like this my entire life. I have a lot of health problems, some known, some still trying to know. It has been a long road for me. I have amazing specialist, but never a good PCP. It's always best to have a great PCP on your side, and finally, I found one!
Riann, Thank you for the kind words for Dr. Herber! I will pass your comment along to her. We are so glad to have you as a patient at NWPC!
Negative experience: Absolutely terrible with their patients.
Hi Liam, I am sorry to hear about your experience at our clinic. I have passed your comment along to our clinic manager to see if there are any improvements we can make in our processes and patient experience. If there are any specifics you would like us to be aware of, please do not hesitate to give me a call at (503) 607-2039. You can also email [email protected] if you would be more comfortable doing so.
Fantastic experience: I found Dr. Moravec by referral of a friend. I knew from moment one that I was blessed to have found him. I call him my medical sleuth. I am autoimmune and complex. It's important a doctor not give up on my issues, believe it's all in my head, blame it on MS and allow me to work just as hard as they do...essentially becoming partners on my health journey. As patients, we cannot expect them to be a God. We must learn and put in the work to becoming and staying healthy. I am beyond grateful for the care, support and encouragement Dr. Moravec has provided. This will definitely be a lifetime medical relationship! Dr. Moravec, I am truly blessed to have you as the head of my team. You are rare and such a gift. Thank you for all you do! Brandi Hicks
Hi Brandi, Thank you for the great review for Dr. Moravec! I will make sure he sees your kind words. We look forward to seeing you at your next visit!
Positive experience: Appointment with Dr Subra was great. He was very interested in how I was doing. We went over recent tests & procedures I'd had. He gave his advice about results & any guestions, and other Dr appts coming up. Shelly,CMA, who does vital signs was very nice & helpful, as she always is with me. Good experience over all.
Rita, thank you for the great review! I will pass your comments to Dr. Subra.
Fantastic experience: Dr Bryden is the best. she cares and always listens to my concerns.
Carole, thank you so much for the kind review!
Fantastic experience: My primary physician, Dr. Leslie Bryden is very skilled and knowledgeable, offers good advice, and gives an explanation for symptoms of a particular illness or injury. I highly recommend this clinic.
Patti, thank you for the kind words about Dr. Bryden!
Fantastic experience: I see Dr. Herber (I am biased but she is the best!) and have seen others on occasion when necessary. Always good care! Friendly staff from the time you enter the building thru the entire visit. Great team of people who genuinely care about your health.
Gina, thanks for sharing your review!
Fantastic experience: Great Professionals and great service for my Healthcare needs!
Thanks for the five stars, Dan!
Positive experience: Dr Shih is great
Benjamin, Thank you for the review! Please let me know if there is anything we can do to take your experience from a three star to a five star. You can send an email to [email protected] or call me at (503) 607-2039. Thank you!
Positive experience: please refer to NW Primary web survey for my comments
Hi Sheri, Thank you for completing our patient survey. I will be sure to look out for your response.
Fantastic experience: Excellent primary care facility. Saw Dr. Shih and it was by far the best drs visit I've ever had.
Erin, thank you for the great review! We are so glad you found Dr. Shih at our clinic!
Positive experience: I LOVE MY DOCTOR HATE THE 40MINs of being on HOLD to get an appointment!
Hi Angela, Thank you for sharing your review with us! I'm glad to hear you are enjoying working with your provider. We are aware of the hold times when calling to schedule an appointment and our teams are working very hard on the issue! Have you used our online appointment booking feature? You can learn more about it on our website: www.nwpc.com/book-online. If you have any further questions or suggestions, please do not hesitate to reach out! Give me a call at 503.607.2039 or email [email protected]. Thank you!
Fantastic experience: Good Doctors and helpful staff.
Faith, thank you for the great review!
Negative experience: Will charge you far to much for a phone apt and will not tell you the pricing of it until you get a bill, also tacks fees on even in months you have made payment
Holly, I'm sorry to hear about the confusion with your bill. I'd like to look into this further for you. If you have a moment, please send an email to [email protected] with a few more details about your phone appointment so I can route you to the correct manager.
Negative experience: The experience at this clinic was downright horrific and shocking. I've never experienced such rude abusive communication from a medical provider. The DO I saw normally does not work at this clinic but was there on a Saturday (they take turns). Talk about a physician who does not care or want to help patients! I described a lot of PHYSICAL health and medical issues and was told to see a mental health counselor. I was told that since I'm not in treatment for these conditions he could not help me. But when I offered to accept treatment he said no! His bio says, "I’ve always had a desire to help people for as long as I can remember" but this guy wouldn't help someone bleeding out in front of him. He'd say they need to be on a treatment plan. He recently changed his bio which used to mention "accepting Jesus Christ into one's life" but this guy doesn't begin to understand Christian teaching or what Jesus would do (actually help people). Also, by definition, osteopathic medicine is a "whole person" approach to medicine - treating the entire person rather than just the symptoms. This DO is as far from that philosophy as anyone could get. He didn't want to hear a word I had to say - and he wanted a person to get involved in 'treatment plans' (i.e. MONEY for him, NW) that were not going to solve the issue at hand. If I could give a rating of minus stars I would. I strongly advise against this so-called medical provider and by extension the clinic that allows him to practice - not medicine but abuse of patients. Just awful, awful, awful and everyone I've told so far about it - including 2 staff at my medical insurance office - is as shocked and horrified as I am. STEER CLEAR for your own sake!
Hi Louise, I'm so sorry to hear about your poor experience at our clinic. I would like to look into this for you and see if we can make it right. Please send an email to [email protected] or call (503) 607-2039 with your contact information, and I will follow up. Thank you!
Fantastic experience: I've been going to NW Primary Care (Milwaukie Clinic) for a few years now and am very happy with the level of care that I've received.
Greg, thank you for the kind words!
Fantastic experience: This is a excellent clinic. Dr.Moravec is a kind, peronsable and thorough physician. I highly recommend going to this facility.
Thank you for the kind words! I will make sure Dr. Moravec sees them.
Fantastic experience: Dr. Subra is the best doctor anybody could ask for! I recommend him to anybody and everybody!
Thank you for the kind words about Dr. Subra! I will make sure he sees your comment.
Positive experience: Dr. Shih is very nice and understanding.
Kim, we love to hear it!
Negative experience: Absolutely the worst clinic our family has ever been to. Dr. Moravec is not too bad but the front office and billing are truly horrendous. I wouldn't recommend this clinic to anyone.
Barbie, I'm sorry to hear that you have had a negative experience with our clinic. Our management team would love to make this right for you if possible. If you have a moment, can you give me a call at (503) 607-2039, or send an email to [email protected] so I can connect you with the right person?
Negative experience: PATIENT BEWARE: My father has been attending this physician’s office for more than 6 years. After recently being diagnosed with heart failure and blood clotting, he became 100% disabled. He applied for Care Oregon as a SECONDARY insurance to help offset some of his medical expenses because of his new life threatening disability. Today, he called this office to give them his new secondary insurance and he was immediately told that he could no longer be a patient here. When I had him inquire why, the receptionist lied and said it was illegal for them to bill his Blue Cross insurance if he had OHP as a secondary insurance. This is not illegal, this is a personal business practice decided by the corporation. I am disgusted that because of my fathers disability this corporation has decided to discriminate against him. This has caused immense and unnecessary stress to my father. In addition, they had the audacity to tell him to IMMEDIATELY cancel his Care Oregon insurance plan if he wanted to continue care and have his routine blood work (for his blood clotting) on Friday which gives him less than 5 days notice to try and find care!!!!! This office has chosen to put my fathers life and health on the line over money and laziness because they don’t want to bill a secondary insurance!! This corporation completely lacks patient care and does not stand by their core statement/policy of a “zero tolerance on discrimination.” I don’t understand how this office can discharge a patient over their choice of secondary insurance….And why he cant stay a patient and have the provider solely bill his primary insurance, which is an insurance plan they accept. To patients seeking care- Please use cation when beginning care here, not only will they discharge you like you are nothing… they will bankrupt you in the process. If you want good patient care- go else where this would not a good place for you.
Hi Jenna, I'm so sorry to hear about your experience at Northwest Primary Care. I would like to review the details of what happened and see if there is a way for us to make this right for you and your father. If you have a moment, please give me a call: (503) 607-2039, or send an email to [email protected] and reference this review. Again, I would like to look into this for you and apologize for the experience you have had.
Fantastic experience: Dr. Moravec is fantastic, as is the staff at the Milwaukie office. This is a wonderful and organized practice.
Hi Heather, thank you for the five stars!
Fantastic experience: Excellent intake/reception, nurses, and Doctor experience. A breath of fresh air. For the first time in years a Doctor actually knew about the disease/issues I have and what to do about them or make the referrals. I can already feel and see the results and it has been less than 48 hours (your results may vary , of course). Thank you NWPC and Dr. Shih!
We love to see it, A B! Thank you for the stellar review!
Fantastic experience: I love the care I receive here!
Hi Ashley, thank you for the great review!
Fantastic experience: I love this place!
Reese, we love to see it! Thank you for the great review.
Negative experience: If there was a negative star I would assign that. The Dr was rude to my mother. And told her that she was only welcomed when she wasn’t sick and. Even after she tested negative for COVID twice she walked into the lobby telling her to go to the emergency room if she felt like she was going to die in front of other patients. I think that’s a violation of HEPA.
Abel, I'm very sorry to hear about this experience at an NWPC clinic. This is not treatment we tolerate for our patients and I will be looking into this incident further. If you have a moment, can you give me a call at (503) 607-2039 or email [email protected]? I'd like to get a few more details so I can bring this to the appropriate staff member. Thank you
Fantastic experience: It was my first appointment with Dr Rhodes and at NWPC. It was an excellent appointment as Dr Rhodes reviewed my medical history listened to my concerns, addressed them and setup some preventative measures to help me maintain a healthy future. I
Michael, thank you for the fantastic review!
Fantastic experience: Dr. Rhodes is very caring, compassionate and skilled in getting to the bottom of medical issues. I would recommend him to anyone.
Thank you for the five stars, Susan!
Fantastic experience: I have been going to NWPC in Milwaukie for nearly 20 years. Great doctors are a rare breed now a days and Dr. Subra is an exceptional provider! He is thorough, kind, and truly LISTENS to me and my concerns. I trust that he cares about my well-being and I really appreciate that!
Hi Sandra, thank you for the five stars!
Fantastic experience: Saw Dr. Rhodes. He was very thorough and took his time. We really liked him.
Hi Karen, Thank you for the five star review!
Negative experience: I have been going here for over 10 years seeing Dr. Subra who is amazing...BUT if you no longer have insurance and get on Care Oregon, they send you away with no care of any kind. You need to find another provider. We no longer will provide this "primary care" they say they offer. Their website says they accept this, but they don't. Thanks for nothing. Oh, and if you have a lifelong running prescription, you're screwed.
Hi Patricia, I'm sorry to hear about your experience with NWPC. Even if we cannot accept your insurance plan, we never want our patients to feel abandoned. We'd like to look into this more. If you have a chance, please call me at (503) 607-2039 or email [email protected]. Thank you
Fantastic experience: You can tell Dr. Bryden truly cares about your concerns.
Fantastic experience: In my 44 years, and living in multiple states, I can say with complete certainty that doctor Rhodes is the greatest doctor I've ever had. I wish I could give more than just five stars
Hi James, thank you for sharing your review with us--so glad you found NWPC!
Fantastic experience: I've been going to see Dr Bryden for so many years & I think that she's great! You'll love her too!!
Thank you for the kind words!
Fantastic experience: Dr Rhodes is amazing. I grew up with a mother who had her own practice so finding a doctor I trusted and respected was a process... after 6 years I'll never see anyone else.
Hi Tanda, Thank you for your kind words--I'll be sure and pass your comment along to Dr. Rhodes.
Fantastic experience: NW Primary Care and Dr. Jennifer Herber offer spectacular care and service. Dr. Herber always listens carefully and collaborates with me to ensure I receive the care I need.
We're so glad to hear you love Dr. Herber! Thank you for the kind review.
Fantastic experience: Excellent care was given at the Milwaukie Monroe Street clinic.
Sylvia, we love to hear it! Thanks for sharing your experience and the five-star review.
Fantastic experience: I have been going to the Monroe Clinic for about 38 years so am quite familiar with my primary care doctor, Dr. Rhodes!
Fantastic experience: Fabulous providers and nursing staff, couldn’t imagine going anywhere else for my healthcare home ;)
We do have fantastic staff! :)

Fantastic experience: Definitely recommend doctor Matthew moravec @ northwest primary care milwaukie clinic. He is very kind and listens to the patient and helps to figure out what the issue might be
Lillian, thank you such a fantastic review. We love Dr. Moravec!
Positive experience: I feel relative well cared for at this clinic and trust that will be the same for anyone else able to make use of the facilities.
Hi Clark, Thank you for the review! Let me know if there is anything we should know to improve your experience at our clinic. You can give me a call at (503) 607-2039, or you can email me at [email protected].
Fantastic experience: My appointment was later in the day, so I expected a delay with the Doctor. Which happened, but that was fine. The staff and Dr. Rhodes were efficient and not rude at all. They made an uncomfortable visit bearable. I definitely recommend them.
Brandon, thank you for leaving us a kind review. We love hearing about your positive experiences with our clinic!
Fantastic experience: Dr. Bryden is attentive to what I tell her is happening with me physically. When I first met her, I told her that a specific medicine works very well for me and asked her to make sure I never run out of it. She has faithfully honored my request. Renee, the RN working with Dr. Bryden is awesome. The front desk staff is friendly.
Thanks for the great review, Peggy!
Negative experience: I'm so over this place and their terrible customer service. Sorry Dr.Seetheramon I really enjoyed you, but your staff is awful.
Hi Josh, I'm so sorry to hear that you have had a negative experience at NWPC. I'd like to see if there's anything we can do to make it right. If you'd like to share a few more details, please reach out to me at [email protected], or you can call me at (503) 607-2039.
Negative experience: Dr. Barry Davis was unprofessional, dismissive and laughed when I answered some of his questions. He was dismissive of my health concerns and was sarcastic as he challenged my lack of enthusiasm for one of his suggestions. He asked me about my COVID-19 vaccine status. Upon hearing my answer, he immediately challenged me "why?!". After I declined to talk about it, he laughed and said "Hahaha, okay" and walked away. I could hear him chuckling about it with his assistant as I walked away. I will ensure I never return to him as a care provider.
Hi Justin, I'm sorry to hear about your experience at our clinic. We never want you to feel as though your concerns were dismissed or unheard. We'd like to hear more about your experience in order to make this right. You can give me a call at (503) 607-2039, or send an email to [email protected].
Fantastic experience: Been going here for the last 6 years, I love the quality of care and I love my doctor. Doctor Subra is the best, but when I have had to see other providers the quality is still the same. Great Health clinic. I recommend it to everyone
Hi Joe, this review made our day! We love seeing you in our clinics.
Fantastic experience: Dr Rhodes is a compassionate caring doctor who listenes to you and explains things in layman's terms and follows up on how you are doing. He's the best Dr I have seen in Oregon and I have seen a few! I totally trust him with my care!
Shirley, we are SO glad to hear about your experience. Thank you for sharing your kind words!
Fantastic experience: Dr. Subra is the most genuine doctor that I have ever been to. He truly cares for his patients and always puts their best interests on the top care list.
Perfectoisme1, we love to hear this (and we love your username!)
Fantastic experience: Dr. Rhodes is kind and thoughtful in his responses. He is an active listener whose treatment is a direct result of that. I appreciate the time he took to hear my issues and even more so I appreciate that he took my concerns seriously.
Jae, we love to hear this! Thank you for sharing this with our community.
Fantastic experience: Excellent service at Noirthwest Primary Care! Dr Rhodes was amazing!
You're amazing too, Sally! Thank you!
Fantastic experience: Dr. Herber is a wonderful doctor. She is compassionate, cares about my well-being, and is honest. She's also funny, which is wonderful and helpful when you're feeling bad. I have seen her only two or three times now but I trust her and am very comfortable in her care.
Thanks Christy! This review made her day.
Fantastic experience: Dr. Subra and his medical assistant Shelley is THE BEST
We love to see you in our clinic, Terina! Thank you so much for your kind words.
Positive experience: It's always been a good experience to be seen and checked by Dr. Subra. He does take the time to be thorough and read your history as you are being examined. And he does give Explanations about possible conditions!
Fantastic experience: Dr Rhodes and everyone at NWPC has always been very supportive and helpful. Dr Rhodes is very caring and truly listens to me when I come to him with any issues or concerns. I recommend him to anyone looking for a primary care doctor or a sports medicine doctor. He took great care of my dad when he battled cancer and he continues to give that same care to me.
