She schedules ample time to meet and develop a customized care plan, she checks-in with me via her secure messaging platform, and I can message her any time and receive a prompt answer to any question I may have. She coordinates my supplements, ensuring I am not taking any I don't need. She, along with her staff dietician, provide ongoing dietary guidance. It's definitely a comprehensive, hands-on approach to hormonal/menopausal issues, weight loss/maintenance, and diabetes care. Her staff are first-rate, too. They are very responsive and highly trained. Dr. Makhija truly cares about her patients' health and progress and is an expert in her field. You won't find better care anywhere.

I called everywhere from Visalia to San Luis Obispo, Atascadero, Templeton, even Fresno and Chico, and was shocked to learn that the soonest available appointments were as far out as Spring 2026. Then I contacted Dr. Makhija’s office at Unified Endocrine, and to my surprise, they scheduled me within 3 days. That level of responsiveness is unheard of and was a huge relief. From the moment I walked in, I was treated with warmth and professionalism. The staff was courteous and efficient, and I truly felt like I was receiving VIP treatment. I met one-on-one with Dr. Makhija, who had already reviewed all of my labs, thanks to her team requesting them in advance. It made everything smooth and stress-free. Dr. Makhija is knowledgeable, compassionate, and thorough. She took time to explain every detail of my lab work in plain, easy-to-understand language, which was incredibly helpful since I don’t have a medical background. She patiently listened to my concerns, my health history, and the steps I’ve taken so far to care for myself. It was clear she respected that I’m invested in my own health, and she honored that with a collaborative, thoughtful approach. The only downside is that she does not accept medical insurance and operates on a cash-only basis. However, the silver lining is that I’m working with my insurance company for reimbursement, and the process has been simple and straightforward so far. Despite the out-of-pocket cost, I still give Dr. Makhija and her team a full 5-star rating. The quality of care, attentiveness, and peace of mind I received made it more than worth it. Experiencia fantástica: I was suffering from hyperthyroid 10 years ago and would take medicine. Suddenly I felt my right eye was no longer okay I started to see double vision. Immediately I went to the physician he advised me to see an eye specialist, his feedback was there was no chance to recover and to proceed with surgery. I consulted with Dr. Chhaya Makhija she advised me to get my thyroid tested then I realized it was a thyroid problem, then with gradual monitoring, low dose medication, I was off the medication and my double vision was resolved. Experiencia fantástica: Was hospitalized for a diabetic foot ulcer on 3/04/23. Blood sugar was 388, A1C at 11.8 and I weighed 248 lbs. My 3rd foot infection in five years. After fighting and losing to diabetes for 14 years I realized I needed more help than I can provide myself. Enter Dr. Chhaya Makhija. In 10 weeks she has helped me lose 19 lbs, drop to a 6.5 A1C, I’m feeling energetic and my foot is healed. All this happened while laying around and healing. Prior to Dr. Makhija I was taking almost 60-75 units of insulin a day & was still out of control. I’m now at just 10-15 units a day and that’ll probably drop lower or go away in time. Dr. Makhija has provide me with much needed care, knowledge, recipes & resources to combat this disease. She is very kind, friendly and genuinely concerned for your wellbeing. She tracks my progress through the Constant Glucose Monitor (wonderful tool) even when I’m not at her office. If you can’t make the office visit, you can easily do it over the phone with her. Very accessible. She has taught me that diabetes doesn’t have to be all steamed vegetables and bland protein. She has me eating fruits like apples and bananas with no outrageous sugar spikes. She has many great recipes. I like that fajita vegetable tacos myself. Experiencia negativa: disingenous and not straightforward and not a good medical provider. in fact, may be the worst medical provider ive had to deal with in the central valley, and that's saying a lot. to make things even more ridiculous, she charges out of pocket for appointments yet delivers subpar medical care and quality - would have been better off seeing an endocrinologist covered by medi-cal like i had done last time. the saying that you get what you pay for is not accurate - i paid out of pocket for dr makhija and it was a complete waste of money.
