Fantastic experience: My 90 minute massage with Cristina was absolutely amazing!!! Cristina truly goes above and beyond to tailor your massage experience to your body and comfort. She does a great job setting the mood with guided breathing and essential oils. She is very receptive to working on certain areas of the body. I have past injuries and tightness around surrounding areas and she was very understanding. She helped me with breathing through tighter areas and her kind, warm demeanor always made me feel supported and safe. I would recommend Cristina to anyone because she is a fantastic massage therapist and a very sweet and kind person!

Fantastic experience: I just had a 60-minute deep tissue massage with Cristina and it was an exceptional experience. The pressure was strong and so effective at releasing tension throughout my upper and lower back. She was very kind and intuitive as she worked (cueing me to breathe by her breathing alone), and I felt challenged and deeply relaxed at the same time. After the massage, I did a 30 minute float - and I LOVE these! So relaxing with just the gentle light of a salt lamp. I look forward to my next appointment.

Fantastic experience: I had the pleasure of getting a prenatal massage with Cristina and what a treat it was. She is so detailed in her care and truly listens to the body as she is working. She ushered my body into relief from the pains that pregnancy brings, along with more efficient posture and movement just with this one session. Not to mention, she is SO sweet! I discovered her back in April and have been back to see her multiple times for a 90 minute deep tissue massage. Don't be fooled that she is a tiny human - she is extremely strong and also very intuitive about when to apply more or less pressure. I can't wait to go back!

Fantastic experience: What an INSPIRATION Marie is. What a life changing experience! I got into an accident about 10 years ago & have gone to everyone (chiro, acu, sports medicine doc, u name it) no one has been able to unlock the last stuck pieces of my body. BUT MARIE DID. I can NOT express enough how much I appreciate the freedom to move and exist in my body without any discomfort. If you’re living uncomfortably - go see her. I’ve been standing up SO straight, in the most careless way possible, and all of the pressure has been lifted off my shoulders and hips. Positive experience: The experience was surely unique however I paid for 105 minutes and only received 60 minutes of actual floating time. The remaining 45 minutes was apparently for "getting ready" which was communicated thereafter. Felt like a scam

She is thorough, knowledgeable, and very sweet. My massage therapist Christina is incredible for her knowledge of lymphatic drainage. All the staff are very professional and caring. I always feel relaxed and taken care of when I visit.

Fantastic experience: What a gem of a spa! Tranquil environment, wonderful services. I've always wanted to try something like the flotation tank and I found it incredibly relaxing! (Pro tip -- be sure you *really* insert the earplugs well; I was a little sloppy with one of them, and ended up with a bit of water that caused crackling inside one ear for about a week...) I also had a wonderful massage and algae body wrap. At the end of my visit, my skin was amazingly soft and I was amazingly relaxed.

I had heard that lymphatic massages are not particularly nice to receive but that the benefits are wonderful. But not only am I having a lot less inflammation and a sense of levity in my body but the message itself felt so relaxing and releasing. She is excellent. I highly recommend it!

Fantastic experience: There are many luxury spas in Back Bay but Balans Organic Spa excels. Of particular note was the massage. I’ve have been getting massages for over 20 years, and seriously, the massage I received from Lucas was by far the very best.

Fantastic experience: I have been a client of Balans for over 13 years and cannot recommend postural therapy and body work with Marie any more highly. There is no one better in the city of Boston, and I would also say nationally. She has seen me through everything from pregnancies to marathons, and the normal day to day. I leave her feeling an inch taller and emotionally reset and re-energized.

Fantastic experience: I can't recommend Marie's posture therapy highly enough. She's extremely knowledgeable, tailors your treatment to what you need, and gives you tools to continue your therapy at home. The next day, I feel more limber and open.

Negative experience: I’ve received several massages at Balans and always had a seamless experience from start to finish; however a couple’s massage appointment I had booked a month ago was cancelled for no reason whatsoever (BOTH of them were suddenly unavailable), no apology offered, and when I gently asked for an explanation was told they called me multiple times and left voicemails - of which I have no history of. Super unprofessional. Will be looking for another spa.

The 60-minute facial treatment was great and all of the staff I encountered at Balans were extremely friendly and welcoming. My only critique is the music track and ceilings could use a slight update for more of a relaxing ambiance (considering how much people are probably looking up at the ceiling from time to time). Will definitely be back again soon!

Marisol is the esthetician I’ve been going to. She’s attentive, professional and exudes calm energy. I feel so pampered everytime!

I book my appointments with Marisol and she is so kind, calm, and a wonderful esthetician— I always leave feeling so relaxed and rejuvenated. Also worth mentioning I have sensitive skin and they’re so great about tailoring the products they use to your skin type! I’ve never had any bad skin reaction after an appointment. Would recommend her 10/10!

Negative experience: I wanted a refund for my gift card because the esthetician I use to see no longer works at Balans. There’s no way I’d be supporting this kind of spa especially with the turnover they have of employees. Clearly it’s not a positive work environment and the prices are ridiculous for what you’re getting. I wouldn’t recommend coming here if you’re looking for a high quality facial.

Fantastic experience: Absolutely making Balans part of my wellness routine. The setting is intimate and very comfortable -- especially the rocking chairs. The neighborhood itself (Back Bay) is a cultural experience in itself. The Staff is welcoming, pleasant, and patient. Lucas, my massage therapist, worked the heck out of my problem areas! AND an "OMG, YESSS!" to the flotation room -- this experience should be in every spa. Alas, it is not. So work your way to Balans. You will Not be disappointed. A must visit!
