Trust and relationship. Doing less is more. Do no harm. These are principles of SHINE. Healthcare is reaching a new crossroads. The parent is losing trust in an eroding system of pediatric care where healthy outcomes is not the objective. We have lost our hearing and sight when the testimony of a parent is given about their child. Our office is slow to act but patient to hear the story. More so, we truly educate and empower you, the parent, with nutritional principles, gut health options, immune support, herbal remedies, homeopathics, essential oils, and more regarding a unique referral network of trusted providers who can serve your unique needs. We ultimately meet you where you are in your walk of traditional to alternative and back.

Our comment from Nutrifinder.net about Shine Pediatrics and Wellness Center P.A.:

Shine Pediatrics and Wellness Center P.A. is dedicated to providing holistic and integrative care for children, creating a nurturing environment where families feel empowered and informed. The practice is well-regarded for its knowledgeable and compassionate staff, particularly Dr. Naidoo, who is frequently praised for his thoroughness and personalized attention.

Positive aspects highlighted by clients include:

  • Holistic Approach: The emphasis on natural remedies and preventive care is widely appreciated, making parents feel more involved in their children's health decisions.
  • Caring Staff: Many users commend the friendly and knowledgeable team, stating they often go above and beyond to ensure a positive experience.
  • Patient Communication: The practice reportedly provides thoughtful and flexible service, offering a variety of treatment options that respect parental choices.

However, there are notable concerns regarding scheduling and communication:

  • Appointment Availability: Some parents express frustration over long wait times for appointments, particularly for integrative visits or when trying to address chronic issues.
  • Communication Issues: Many users find the Klara app challenging, as timely responses can be inconsistent and reaching a staff member by phone is often difficult.
  • Provider Consistency: Not all families have had the opportunity to see the same medical provider consistently, leading to feelings of disconnect.

Overall, while Shine Pediatrics is celebrated for its caring philosophy and holistic practices, potential clients should be aware of the communication challenges and wait times they may encounter.

Nutrifinder.net cannot guarantee that the professionals and companies listed in the directory have adequate training or health certifications. Fantastic experience: We have enjoyed our time with Shine for our first baby girl. I appreciate how they take a holistic approach to medicine rather than throwing vaccines and antibiotics at every issue. We have had good experiences with all of the providers that we have had here

Gabriella Garza 2 months ago

Positive experience: the staff are all very sweet but we never see a actual MD , you have to wait months for a integrative appt. My baby has had gut issues since birth and i have to wait 3 months for a appt for chronic issues. I wish I could just call and speak to someone but you have to go through thier all Klara … which takes a while. It used to be nice for minor things questions and advice but they have now stopped doing that and are pushing their monthly subscription and will only advise on appts. They are really the only holistic ped that I know . Id say its a good place to go if you just need a simple sick appt or wellness check ups or dont need to go very often or communicate

Brittany Bayles 3 months ago

Negative experience: Switched to shine from another provider because we moved. We had heard good things about their integrative practice. While I appreciate their natural/holistic leaning and care, getting ahold of them for simple questions regarding your child’s health is very difficult and frustrating. If you call your most likely put to voicemail and they they send a text saying “for a more convenient option, text us!” The Klara texting app is on the surface full of information and looks to be helpful but actually getting a timely response if at all is unlikely. There are so many prompts when you login to send a message and if you don’t send to the correct one(which sometimes isn’t clear which I should select) you don’t get a response. For instance, I messaged about an ongoing allergy concern for my son dating back to this summer, but since I didn’t select the right prompt my message was basically ignored. “Health support question” “integrative” “medical questions” or “medical records/referrals” all would make sense for me to select for this issue, but since I didn’t select the right one, message was ignored instead of being forwarded onto the right department. photo attached of vague and confusing messaging options. Technology can be super helpful but talking to a real person on the phone would be so much more helpful… i understand the practice is growing and they are trying to implement this Klara app to keep up with inquiries but it’s missing the mark and customers are being left in the dark instead of helped. I don’t know what the solution is but the Klara app and untimely returned calls (if at all) is not working for Shine.

Fantastic experience: Great experience with Dr. Naidoo! Very informative, kind and patient!

Fantastic experience: Having Dr. Naidoo as our pediatrician over the past 12 years has not only positively impacted the lives of our 3 kids, but has made me feel like someone truly has my back. My kiddos all have complex medical histories and a variety of issues over the years. Dr. Naidoo and his staff have supported our journey and empowered me to provide care for our kids without whipping out the Rx pad at every visit. There is one issue that I feel I owe a debt of gratitude to Dr. Naidoo for. We first came to Shine with a question about PANDAS (after receiving NINE referrals from previous doctor!), and Dr. Naidoo was ON IT. He diagnosed it, treated it, and educated me so thoroughly I was well prepared for managing my son’s recovery. My son is living a full life, without the debilitating symptoms of PANDAS, and I cannot thank you enough, Dr. Naidoo. ❤️

Fantastic experience: We had a great experience Tegiri! So grateful for Shine Pediatrics and the love and care they show my little ones! It’s worth the drive. They offer natural and conventional treatment options for children.

Negative experience: My son was a a long time patient. Started with doctor when he was at the Healthy Kid Pediatrics. My girls stayed with healthy kids when Dr. Naidoo left but I took my son to shine so my son could have a male doctor. My son was diagnosed with EOG while very young. I recall having a discussion with doctor and whenever I started asking lots of questions about his recommendation he began to get very rude, and wanted to end our discussion. I don’t recall what it all entailed. After that visit my son really only came when he got sick and I don’t think we ever saw him again. It’s been years. We’ve only seen his staff. I should have switched doctors long ago but seeing that my son rarely needed to get in it wasn’t a priority. This fall I brought him in , again did not see doctor. They didn’t take his temp correctly, they said it was normal, he was at 102 when we left home and up to 104 when we got back home. I guess they thought he had a cold, they never said what he had, just treating the symptoms. He got worse in the next day. For two days I called and sent messages using Klara to make an appointment. Their Klara app works half the time, uploading is hit or miss. It is impossible to have a conversation with the staff. No one would call me back. By Friday afternoon I had to take him to ER where they diagnosed him with pnemonia. When the nurse FINALLY called me back I told her I no longer would be taking him Shine and to please have her manager call me. Eventually the manager called me, to schedule an appointment. Completely unaware of their error and how frustrated I was with her staff. She was pleasant and apologized. I told her I would not be bringing my son back. Never heard from the doctor. I do not recommend Shine Pediatrics or Dr Naidoo. Healthy Kids Pediatrics has a much more professional staff. Dr. Baine actually sees her patients and listens with a well trained ear. Her physicians assistant is EXCELLENT & they communicate very well with each other about their patients. Staff is caring and professional.

Fantastic experience: We love Shine! They are always kind and respectful by taking time to talk to us and our children. I love their holistic approach on improving the whole child instead of just banding with medication. We have been impressed with their care from Day 1!

Fantastic experience: I’ve been coming here since my son was a new born and I’ve loved it. They truly take their time with you and listen to your concerns. I whole heartedly believe in getting to the root cause of the issue and I feel heard here.

Positive experience: This place has the absolute WORST communication system of any doctors office I’ve ever experienced. Their app, Klara, is a horrible pain in the rear, and no one ever answers the phones for their office. First I had a bad experience trying to get my 8 yr old scheduled for an appointment. They didn’t have anything available for 3 months, and then when the day arrived and I got stuck in horrible accident traffic which made us 20 minutes late, I tried calling several times and no one would answer. (I should’ve paid attention to this red flag.) Then when we showed up after driving over an hour, they told us we were too late and tried to charge us for a “no call, no show,” of which we were neither. I both called AND showed up. Once we got to our rescheduled appointment over a month later, the experience was just okay. I was pregnant at the time and specifically asked about being able to schedule a newborn appointment because the hospital won’t let you leave without one. They reassured me that they leave several spots open for newborns every day and all I have to do is call. Fast forward 3 months and I am at hospital postpartum and trying to get discharged from the hospital and I was stuck there for hours extra bc Shine refused to pick up the phone or respond to anything in their app AT ALL. I called over and over and left several messages, and my husband called too. After probably 30 calls, my husband finally got someone on the phone who promptly put us on hold to “find the right person” and then sent us to voicemail AGAIN. HOURS later I finally got a response in the app telling me “reminder that if you call or use the app too many times you get sent to the back of the queue.” First of all, WHAT?! No one ever told me that so it’s certainly not a “reminder,” and secondly, WHY would you have that setting?! You are a doctor’s office, and parents need to get in touch with you! Maybe if you ANSWERED your phone, we wouldn’t have to reach out multiple times only to be shunted to the back of the queue. Honestly, that response from them after all our efforts to contact them with their faulty and ridiculous system was so obnoxiously rude and insulting. I do NOT recommend unless you enjoy being forced to waste time on their faulty app, then being ignored, insulted, and gaslit by their staff once they finally deign to respond to you. They need to fire whoever is in charge of their customer service team and do a hard reboot, because I seriously don’t know how they keep any customers with such a rotten system.

Negative experience: Appointment was at 3:30pm. Didn’t get to the back till 3:45pm and it’s now 4pm and we are still waiting.

Hannah Elwell 6 months ago

Negative experience: I have nothing nice to say about Shine Pediatrics. Literally from day, one after giving birth they have been a pain to deal with. I can never have a conversation with anyone over the phone including front desk. I have had my appointments canceled because I didn’t fill out documentation on an app that refused to upload, (dealt with every single time). I have had a PA give me wrong information three times for my child. There is no one I would recommend Shine to.

Megan Gump 7 months ago

Fantastic experience: This is the BEST pediatrician we have ever been to. They are holistic based and approach your child from a root cause standpoint. They truly believe in nourishing the child from the inside out and recommend great things for healing when the kid is sick and NOT just Tylenol or over the counter meds. They recommend supplements and vitamins that truly benefit the immune system and over all health. HIGHLY recommend.

Fantastic experience: I’m extremely grateful to have found Dr. Naidoo for my kids. He always explains things thoroughly and thoughtfully at the appointments. He gives us options and ideas. It’s as if we were the only patients he has. He is very knowledgeable. God bless him. He goes the extra step, although the nurses I’ve seen like Shandra have also given us life-saving tips. They give us more than traditional doctors have been able to give us—they don’t hold back good and useful information. Thank you all!

Positive experience: The doctors at shine have lot of experience and very patient with the patients. The only downside is the waiting time.

JENNIFER BURBANO ERAZO 7 months ago

Negative experience: I’ve tried to schedule a wellness appointment with a Pediatrician (not a nurse practitioner, not a physician assistant) I’m pretty sure they are amazing professionals, but it’s my decision to see one time a year a pediatrician … it’s impossible … two years in a row…

Ashley Garland 7 months ago

Negative experience: Good doctors office but the wait time is ridiculous. Even if you have an appointment be prepared to wait 30min - an hour in the waiting room before you even go back to see the doctors. Then once back there you sometimes wait 20min- 45 min. It’s rude to have patients (babies) wait so long in an office

Fantastic experience: We absolutely love Shine Pediatrics. Every provider we’ve had has been so knowledgeable and their approach is to inform but ultimately empower the parent to make the best choices for their children. They offer holistic solutions and always have great resources when we have questions. We have also worked with their lactation consultant, MiKaylan, who has been a wealth of knowledge and has helped us work through multiple issues throughout breastfeeding. Could not recommend more!

Negative experience: The care is great if you can actually see a provider. Unfortunately I've resorted to driving to the office when I need something because the staff that does the scheduling and coordination refuses to pick up the phone. In the past I'd tell my friends and family to come here but I can't recommend them any more given poor customer service I've received over the last year.

Katelyn Boyd 8 months ago

Positive experience: I have been wanting to go here for a while because I’ve heard they can be more holistically minded. I was able to get an appointment pretty quickly (sick appointment) and while I did find that to be true, I was disappointed with the state of their office. It was dirty and some of the equipment was taped together and looked very old.

Negative experience: The medical providers are great and really care about their patients. IF you can get your child in to be seen by an actual medical provider. Unfortunately, the schedulers, business staff, and ones in charge of or running "operations" are anti-humanists. That has become extremely self-evident when scheduling appointments, which get arbitrarily canceled and rescheduled/replaced by their AI robots for types of appointments that aren't even the same "kind" of appointment which were originally scheduled "in office," face-to-face with an actual human. And when calling them, good luck with getting to talk with an actual human (and even those I'm not convinced are actual humans). They need to get a better AI system to run their operations if that's how they want to do business, because the one they have running things sucks.

Alystre Hawkins 11 months ago

Negative experience: First of all, it is literally impossible to get someone on the phone no matter what you need. All communication is through their horrible app. They told me I was not allowed to bring up my daughters eczema at her 12 month well check and that she would need to have an “integrative” appointment to talk about the eczema for a fee of $150. What? Also at her 12 month apt, they did a blood draw to check lead levels. I then got a message saying she had elevated lead levels that were concerning and she needed to detox. This obviously sent me into a panic as a first time mom, only to find out that her levels were not even remotely elevated. I guess their version of “elevated” is anything above 0 which is nearly impossible. Lastly, my sister used to bring her kids here. In the summer, my 3 yr old nephew had bronchitis and the NP brushed them off and said it was allergies two different times before they finally tested for bronchitis. He had a hideous cough for 5 weeks before it was ever taken seriously. Most recently, my 2 week old nephew had blisters popping up on his stomach, they took him in and were told it was some kind of infection and prescribed antibiotic ointment. It got worse so my sister sent pictures on Monday asking if they need to come back in. They got no response until THURSDAY when Shine said he needed to go the ER immediately!! Are you kidding me? It took you 3 days to let them know their newborn needed emergent care? That is absolutely insane. They then called my sister over and over and threatened calling CPS if she didn’t respond. Thankfully, he responded to the ointment and is now 100% fine without an er trip. We will never ever be back and I would never recommend this office.

Fantastic experience: Shine Pediatrics is amazing! We always feel so cared for and that they aren’t in a rush to see us. We love that they have a holistic approach to our babies health.

Positive experience: We love shine for what they believe and how it lines up with our beliefs. My oldest son has gone to shine since he was 8 months old and is now 3. I currently have a 9 month who is struggling with weight gain and height. We saw our body work specialist who is also our family doctor. She was concerned for him and said to immediately make an appointment with the pediatrician. They can get us in until July because he’s never been. They said go to his previous provider. We’ve never had a previous provider.. he’s a baby?? So feels super discouraging and disappointing when my child needs to see a pediatrician asap and they say wait until July. What’s the point of having a pediatrician who can’t see your child when they need it?

Negative experience: Shine used to be an amazing place for parents looking for medical care for their children that allowed for parental choice when it comes to the way they care for their children. Making appointments was simple and they had a system down. In the last 2 or 3 years they have fallen apart. Unorganized, overbilling, losing appointments, and an AWFUL system for booking and communication called Klara. there is no way to get someone on the phone unless you can get their emergency nurse number. And even that phone isn't answered consistently. My child is facing sever life altering issues and the earliest they can schedule basic labs is 8 months out. We have 2 referrals for these labs and they want to book an "Integrative Appointment" before they will do the labs. That appt is 8 months out. . . then labs. . . Zero care for the patient and the parent experience. Its awful now. They just want to maximize the amount of appointments they can book and bill insurance. This is why the system is broken. Shine is focused too much on growing and making money and not enough on basic care of patients. Very disappointed with how poor their quality of care and support has become.

Fantastic experience: My in-office experience with Shine was great! The staff were all very pleasant and helpful, while providing professional care. There were no unforeseen costs, it was discussed upfront. You are expected to pay all copays before your visit which makes complete sense, just giving you a heads up. So, initially it was kind of frustrating to get a sick visit scheduled as a new patient. But since my child's former primary doctor turned us away (Cook Children's) for not receiving absolutely every vaccination (Covid/flu/etc), I decided to keep pursuing Shine. Communication is primarily done through Klara, messaging/scheduling. You can call but expect to be directed to Klara. When I received a callback to schedule an appointment it was around 7:20am, and I wasn't expecting a call that early. I missed my callback and got put back in the queue to wait again. The Fort Worth location was completely booked so we made the drive to Richardson. And when specimen samples had to be taken from home, we live too far out for them to pick up. Which meant I had to drive down to the Fort Worth location to drop off the sample since FW is a lot closer than driving it back up to Richardson. You only have 24 hours until it's unusable. I called ahead of time to let them know it has to stay refrigerated, no answer. But drop off was seamless! The front desk staff was amazing and knew exactly what to do. I’m just so impressed. Anyway, the experience has been ultimately and abundantly better than I expected and we will continue to use Shine Pediatrics. Shine is so busy, but what an incredible problem to have :) We need Shine in DFW and it shows by the amount of families that use their services. Great job staff!

Negative experience: Was excited to get my newborn in to this practice due to a more holistic approach. Ended up very disappointed and seeking care elsewhere. When I called months before my son’s delivery, they advised that if he was not able to see an MD on his first newborn visit that the subsequent visit would be with Dr. Naidoo. When checking out, we were told that the doctor had no availability for an entire year and he would not be able to see him. I have no problem with mid-level providers or seeing them majority of the time, but feel establishing care with an MD gives a lot of comfort in knowing your newborn is healthy, especially when the assessment done by the mid-level we saw was less than thorough. No reflexes were checked, his hips were not checked, and she did not fully assess his body. When asked if his circumcision was healing well, she told us it looked fine and ended up at the urologist the following day with issues. She had my son on his stomach on the exam table naked, he urinated, and she continued to try to assess him while he cried and laid in his own urine. My husband and I had to intervene to get him and the table cleaned up before she continued her exam. I left feeling like he received very poor and questionable care. Very disappointed.

Fantastic experience: Wonderful pediatrician! Holistic and informative. Called the nurse line when my daughter had COVID and they laid out all the protocols and got us an appointment first thing in the morning ❤️

Negative experience: I would never recommend this place! They have no idea what they are doing especially when it comes to insurance and billing. Please make sure you know exactly what your insurance policy says before going to this place. They tried charging us every time we went in for checkups and they billed us twice for the same thing at one point and we had to call and prove with insurance and bank statements that we had already paid. It’s pretty ridiculous! Also never met a friendly employee their except for 1 NP and she left the clinic. ‍♀️ NEVER GOING BACK!

Negative experience: They over charged for just a toddler wellness check. In addition the front desk made a mistake on billing and I had to call my insurance while trying to get seen so my daughter who was sick could get seen. Their rooms are gross unless you go in the morning. Do not recommend going here. Find somewhere else that will take care of your kids and take care of their facility.

Negative experience: Why is it so difficult to reach the front desk? They have an abundance of staff at the front each time we visit, yet getting through is almost impossible. And, if you leave a voicemail, good luck getting it returned within 4-5 hours.

We have a process to answering calls. We encourage every family to first message us through KLARA and let us know the need. We are avoiding our staff picking up the phone and having a parent move up in line past other families who have communicated earlier. If you are looking for a boutique integrative concierge practice, you can look at that option.

Negative experience: I was so happy with this practice when my daughter was born, lately a lot of issues with communication. Our NP left - Christine C. was so great! We have struggled to find one here that seems to care at all unfortunately. We have never met Dr. Naidoo. It’s impossible to speak to anyone on the phone about any issue (scheduling, lab results, no response on Klara).

Fantastic experience: This place is everything that I wished the pediatrician would have been for my family with my first kiddo. With my second baby 8 years later it’s nice to have a practice that listens to what parents want and supports and validates them. I’ve never been made to feel crazy or pressured to do anything. When I ask about a home remedy or a supplement they present options. They aren’t pharma pushers passing out antibiotic script for every little thing. We love it here and gladly commute an hour for our appointments.

Fantastic experience: We’ve been at shine for over a year now and love it. Most recently I used the online portal to ask about what I could do for my 4 year olds allergies leading to a cough that made her throw up… something that can’t be ignored and something that can’t be solved with many drugs because she’s too young for them. Within a business day I got a long list of recommendations. I’m very thankful to have found shine and I highly recommend them

Negative experience: Skip it. They do not see your infant, toddler, no matter the age for sick appts. You have to text a system & wait for someone to get bk to you. You can also never speak to a human. We have been taking our daughter there for her well visits only b/c they are in such high demand they tell you to go to URGENT CARE OR THE ER for regular appts like a rash. You never see the same doc. The staff is unpleasant & my husband & I had to remove ourselves. Just skip it.

Mrs Howard. This is Dr Naidoo. We have reviewed our records and communications with you over the time that you have been at SHINE. For times in the past that your child has been ill, which has been minimal which is a testament to our SHINE process, your little one has been overall very healthy, we have worked to get you seen. We do see the major problems with communication that happened in the past week due to an increase in newborn deliveries that have chosen SHINE which is a reflection that families need this type of care. We do apologize for some of the back and forth that occurred with your child’s most recent illness. Someone should have picked up the phone and spoken to you. Not only that, you communicated multiple times and our process of calling the same day for a sick appointment only to be told we don’t have any and then calling the next day to hear the same thing is not good by us. We are working on changing our process when we do not have access to help families get the care they need. We apologize again for the increase in newborn care, having one of our full time providers out during a very busy time of the year and our lack of proper workflow when we do not have access. We will improve upon this and we appreciate you pointing it out.

Negative experience: Strongly NOT recommend to anyone. When I read all of the review, I thought that this place was great, but it does not turn out to what I expected. I have horrible experience. Every time we visit, they always send out practitioners and I have never met the real doctor at this place at all (Dr. Naidoo the one most reviewers said was great). My child have problems with coughing for a month and she is obviously unwell. As a parent, you don't visit doctor unless the situation is getting worse. The first time we went to see what happened, one practitioner did said there is nothing wrong with her throat and and just told us to go to CVS or walgreen to buy quaifenesin medicine(took me more than 1 hour to search in the cvs, they could specify the right product better). We did that, and it did not get any better. After 3 weeks, the symptom is getting worse, and the coughs is getting worse, and you can tell by hearing her cracking voice. Furthermore, she was throwing up more frequently in the past 3 days. There has to be something wrong with her. We went to have her check up again, another practitioner took a look at my child. Nothing is wrong with my child again. they said her throat was fine and tell us to go to buy the same medicine again from the counter. What the hell, we came and paid more than $100 each time even though we have insurance, and the suggestion they gave us is buy the medicine from the counter yourself. I was expecting that they could at least give us the prescriptions from pharmacy that could work better instead of telling us to go buy it ourselves. what a waste of money. It looks like to me that this place can only do easy check up and provide you with a nice report, but when it came to sickness issue, i am not sure if there is no one with the expertise to help your child to get better. Don't go here because they have good reviews or have a nice staff in the front desks. You need to make sure that the place you go to can help your child to get better.

Negative experience: Terrible communication and wait time if you need the receipts and stories just ask me I’ll be happy to share. Three weeks no reply to a specialist contacting your office just to name one. When you need a referral for a specialist instead of knowing our daughter and that these things are coming up from previous appointments they want us to come in for ANOTHER unnecessary “well” check in an attempt to get money from us and the insurance just to fill out a paper that can be done online and we don’t even see a Dr. … all about the churn and burn rate…. Started off so strong with the introduction nights and has dropped off… I normally wouldn’t post publicly but since you don’t answer or return calls or Klara messages maybe this way I’ll get a reply? …. Love the vision and mission of the office but failed to deliver hopefully we can find an office with the same mission that follows through… until then we are held hostage by this PCP to get the care our daughter needs from the specialists.

Fantastic experience: We started going to Shine about a year ago and are grateful that we have. We’ve found the doctors to be highly skilled and knowledgeable in their trade. Unlock most doctors who push shots pills and treatments without any explanation, the doctors at shine walk you through every step of a decisions, giving you the necessary information, and help you decide what decision is best for your family. I greatly appreciate their professionalism and genuine care for each and every patient and their parents.

Positive experience: I would recommend Shine to my friends. It was a recommendation from our midwifes and we made our switch recently. Our experience went well despite the unfortunate reviews some parents experienced. We liked how they offer more natural/homeopathic products/advice.She was very respectful about our choice towards vaccines and I loved that! It took almost 20 minutes to be seen which I disliked but I hope our future visits will be different. I understand they can be behind and I hope they would let the patients know in the waiting room we won’t be seen on time. Overall, we’re very happy we switched to Shine.

Fantastic experience: We absolutely love shine! My son gets so excited when he sees the "Purple roof & sunshine" we have been going there since he was a newborn. Dr. Naidoo and all of the staff we have seen have been so patient and knowledgeable. I love their holistic approach and the kind manner of the staff. Our regular practitioner is dr. Ngobia, she is so sweet and knows our whole family. We recently saw Dr Naidoo for a test result we had questions on and he was so helpful. Even over the zoom call you could tell he was so passionate about providing this exact care for his patients. I hope more practices like Shine will open because they are amazing!!

Fantastic experience: We were recommended to come here from our midwives and our neighbors, and have had such a great experience. Our daughter came in for her 2 month appointment and the doctors were so kind and caring and recommended care even for my postpartum healing. We look forward to future visits!

Fantastic experience: Excellent care from the doctors and staff! I love that they give information on how to navigate vaccines rather than just telling me to get them all. I feel like I have a say in my child’s health and feel like I’m learning about how to navigate a healthy lifestyle.

Fantastic experience: I love the health care providers at Shine! I especially appreciate my choice for Vaxing or delayed vaxing or not vaxing being respected. They also offer a homeopathic route in leu of prescription medications.

Negative experience: Signed documents multiple times stating that I wanted to follow the cdc guidelines for vaccines. There was always an excuse as to why his vaccines needed to be spilt up forcing me into multiple visits. But aside from that born in July, premie, set appointment brought hospital paperwork that includes his heb #1. Heb #2 was to be done at the Sept appointment, they delayed it chart says to check for heb #1, returned 2 weeks later still didn't get heb #2. Returned for other vaccine appointments in November and December! Still no heb #2 now 10 month old at another provider because I didn't like the practices structure he's only just getting heb #2. It felt like a fight everytime he went in for vaccines. I had to constantly be reminding them that i travel alot and need all his vaccines upto date to avoid any issues. They were borderline anti Vax in my opinion. Constantly finding excuses; he's breathing is off, we did two today let's do the other in 2 weeks, he seems cranky let's reschedule. The second irritation came with never being about to get them on the phone! And the messages take a min of 2 hours to get a response, so sick child... too bad. I eventually switched after not being able to get a sick child visit for the second time and went with my insurance recommendations. Totally different atmosphere. While shine is cold, just colorless with a revolving door of doctors and nurses limiting consistency in the level of care our new pedestrian was friendly, the office was designed with children in mind, little chairs, activity table etc in the waiting room (not a weird giant medical device). And finally all HIS notes say "SHE" 6 months of seeing my son and all their notes say she. Like come on its a basic step and a clear answer for people who've seen him on multiple occasions!!! Just ridiculous that even in the simple things they can't get not one fact right! Everything else was meh. So there's nothing else to really comment on. This is a wellness clinic that has a side for kids occasionally.

Negative experience: Part 2: When I left, the receptionist asked if I wanted to schedule a 4 month visit and I told her yes (which I am going to call and cancel tomorrow morning) but this was not in line with what the nurse practitioner was wanting as she wanted another appointment one week from now and then every month after that, but a four month appt would be two months from now. The receptionist then asked me if I was purchasing any supplements, which none has been mentioned so this shows that there is no communication from back to front office and also shows they are always trying to sell supplements even if they are not necessary. She then said “okay, you are good to go” even though I had told her when I first got to her desk that I would be paying with care credit (which she seemed annoyed and said she would have to manually enter it in). So when she said I was good to go I had to remind her that I still needed to pay for the current visit and then she wasn’t even going to give me a receipt and I had to ask for it. I also saw several old kids refusing to enter the office because they were scared which made me sad as I think the doctor office should be known as a place they take care of you and don’t cause harm and fear. I also know this is a very general statement, but our nurse and the other nurses I saw in the office all seemed very unwelcoming and not the type of person or character that I would trust with my baby or child. I will not be recommending to other moms and also I hope they do not send me a rude response to this review because I saw that they are often very rude in responding to bad reviews and continue the shame and not understanding approach that I experienced in their office this morning.

Fantastic experience: This is a pediatric office that you can trust! When you come here, from the receptionists to the doctor, you are treated and spoken to like you are family and not just a customer. We love their holistic , whole child approach. Negative experience: Where do I start? I’ve been going to this office for a about a year and a bit more. But today was the last time I’ll ever go. My kid has been sick for the past 3 weeks on and off. [Also during this past weekend my child’s ear got worst.]This past Friday they took samples for a magnolia respiratory test and strep. Results were to be ready by Sunday and nurse assured me I would receive a call. I never received a call. In fact I had to reach out today in the afternoon and the results were just sent through a chat..as if I can read the results? I had to ask the nurse to explain to me what the result meant. Honestly, as a provider YOU should be the one reaching out to your families to inform them of results especially if I was told multiple times during our visit that I would receive a direct call on Sunday. They also have a very holistic approach which I didn’t mind but in order to have the chance to receive antibiotics they want me to make another appointment after you just saw my child on Friday knowing how his ears were already red and inflamed. Easiest thing to do is just prescribe antibiotics to our pharmacy. Why waste my time to make another appointment? Come on. Oh and one more thing, you never ever get to see the doctors. Just NP and PA..(which I wouldn’t mind)but they rarely make an actual thorough check, it’s discouraging.

Positive experience: We have been going here for about 7 years. We like the homeopathic approach. Our last few appointments we have had to wait a while. The most recent, we were 20 minutes early and still waited 40 minutes past our appointm time for the PA to come see us. I feel the staff are not as attentive and friendly as what first drew us in. It has become just like most other offices. The passion seems to have left, which is too bad. They took a culture and said they would have results in 1-2 days. It has been 4 days and they have not followed up. Meanwhile, my little one is in pain and I am waiting for direction.

We are sorry your little one is not feeling well. Your care by our physician assistant was outstanding and gave you plenty of options. Our practice sometimes has a wait time since we do accept insurance and make this type of care affordable to many. If finding a boutique practice is a consideration with less wait time and has the same philosophy as us, we welcome that for your family. Your little ones results were just communicated about 10-15 minutes ago. Integrative care is patient, takes time, and is never rushed.

Positive experience: I have been taking my time to share about my experience with Shine Pediatrics so far and I have to say I can tell there is a miscommunication and internal issues between practitioners a while ago. I contacted them to set a sick appointment for my son and it seems they were unable to agree weather they were able to offer me a telehealth one or not. I asked for this modality since the weather would not allow me to drive 50minutes from Justin to Richardson with frozen roads. They insisted to give me a physical one at 3pm that day until they finally offered me a telehealth one at 7pm same day. I was son happy about it and said YES. But, an hour later, they called me again to say it needed to be a physical one due to my son’s previous symptoms (that were not showing up at that moment any more) even though I had told them and everyone saw the roads were going to be frozen too. I explained everything again and they put me on hold forever and I had to hang up. They called me like an hour later to ask me to cancel the telehealth appointment and told me that unfortunately the next sick appointment they would give me would be when they open operations again 3 days later (because of the weather of course) and because they changed their minds and it had to be a physical one. Funny enough was my son was not presenting the kind of symptoms that would make me taking him to an urgent care to leave all my money there (even with an insurance) for useless health guidance based on freaking parents out more than needed or just to get sick even more. He was having a strange and unusual allergy reaction that was coming and going and I wanted them to check on his eyes and skin (my main concern), so why not giving me a telehealth one on this case at least to receive some reassurance? I was not worry about my son’s respiratory capacity at all, and that was mainly the reason they kept asking me to see him physically. He did not presented any fever either, so it was very confusing the whole attention and also not satisfying nor supportive. At the end someone from health support contacted me through Klara to ask me about things I had already shared with them and gave me suggestions that were not helpful. I have noticed mixed signals and recommendations from their different providers which is not ideal to feel safe. I have been going there for a couple of years. I really liked it, also, I received support for a development process my son has been presenting and was referred to some of the best neurological specialist that have been very helpful and kind and responsive. But I still need to express myself about this internal lack of organization or agreement I notice between the internal practicioners and the way they gather information about the patients as well. Since I have also felt like they don’t read the story of my son before the visits (even though the cuestionary you have to fill out is sooo extense and detailed no matter if your are not a new patient) reading about patients is extremely necessary if we are not going to receive attention from the same practitioner each time. In order for clients to feel safe there has to be some kind of consistency about the Information and approach between the whole staff so I don’t notice you haven’t read about my child story and context and previous treatments. That’s part of a quality experience, feeling safe and confident about the guidance I am receiving. I hope you can consider this and fix whatever I am sure you might have noticed it is not working for you and your clients. Thank you!

Fantastic experience: We have been with this location for 4yrs now and we absolutely love them. From the staff to their views and practices. We literally couldn’t have asked for a better doctors office. Even when they are busy they still find time to reach out and respond to my messages within a timely matter. They also offer Telehealth for those of use who live a lot further away and can’t always get into the office. I literally can speak highly of them all day. I love the natural approach and the amount of knowledge they have. Ps we are extremely picky when it come to services for our son so when I tell you they are five start worthy they most definitely are. C. Clayton

Positive experience: 6 years ago when we started going to Shine, they were a God send. Recently it feels like they’ve gone down hill a bit. It’s so hard to get an appt even a sick appt for your child that already has established care there. Some of the doctors aren’t as holistic in their approach as the others which is disappointing. They still get 4 stars because they truly are great! Just not working out for us anymore.

Fantastic experience: We’ve gone here for 9 years, since before my first son was born. We wanted to find a pediatrician before he was born that would listen to our preferences and ask the right kind of questions. It was smaller back then and there were growing pains in between but with the Klara app and new staff we get everything we need including hard to find supplements. I really like the ability to schedule more specialty appointments.

Fantastic experience: New Year New Review! Hands down I have to give Shine a solid 5 stars all around! Below are six things my family and I love about Shine: 1. Cleanliness (5 stars) 2. Clear communication regarding treatment plans (5 stars) 3. Excellent Follow up (5 stars) 4. Klara app and the after hours nurses line...(5 stars) 5. Knowledgeable providers (5 stars) 6. Ease of accessing and releasing medical records (5 stars) Yet to be grossed out by bad hand hygiene from practitioners.....Yet to encounter a snarky person at the front desk I have witnessed a lot of patience and kindness and I appreciate that....our family has been coming here for 8 years now... ..I have received EXCELLENT care and even referrals for dentist, chiropractor's and more from Shine..I have recommended all of my friends and family because they are the best! What I love the most is that they provide you with all of the facts but allow you as the parent to choose the best course of action for your child...not a cookie cutter practice also I really appreciate how easy it is to access medical records and have medical records released...sometimes that can be a headache but not here!

Negative experience: You don’t ever see Doctors here, just nurses. We went only 3 or 4 times because we NEVER met an actual practitioner. Staff was polite but they told us that my daughter was deaf at the age of 3/4 month old because of a test that they did. Nurse didn’t bother to check again but instead asked us to see a specialist. My daughter is 18 months and can hear CLEARLY. Please don’t waste your money OR your time. Never went back after that day, bunch of pathetic assistants and nurses who don’t bother to make sure the test was done right before telling their patients a news that serious!

Negative experience: It is near impossible to get a sick visit and the Klara app is infuriating. As a working mother, I need to be able to plan and know when I can get my sick child in for a visit. I had to take my daughter to urgent care on a Thursday because she had a high fever - Shine told us she should have a follow up in their office. They couldn't see her Thursday, Friday or Monday. She was sick multiple times over a few months and each time it was a real challenge to schedule an appointment. The thing that concerned me was she had her well visit in the middle of the months she was sick and was also scheduled for a vaccine. The vaccine was administered and then a week later she was sick again and the Shine provider told us she should not have received her vaccine at the time she did...how are we supposed to know this we aren't the doctor. It never seemed like anyone had reviewed the paperwork prior to seeing our daughter. I love the idea of what Shine is trying to do, but it seems like they have too many patients to provide a quality service. We had to move to another provider.

Ana Sales 2 years ago

Positive experience: It is very frustrating not to be able to reach the provider you choose, like and are loyal to. I do not like the text messaging system, it slows everything down. Especially when they message to ask a question like DOB, which puts me back at the end of the line instead of the one second it’s take over the phone. I wish I could just call, and be done. Thankful for the alternatives they’ve given us. My son had croup many times and also colds and coughs. Traditional doctors only told us there was nothing he could take. I don’t know why for years we didn’t hear about homeopathic medicine and the like. What Shine offered us to give to my children wiped out my son’s croup and comforted my baby’s colds and coughs a ton. And they both were safe, all the medication was natural and not harmful. (The fact that this practice is hard to reach is still aggravating to me, though.)

Shine Pediatrics and Wellness Center P.A.
Shine Pediatrics and Wellness Center P.A.

Mrs Sales. Your response was extremely helpful. We believe that what you have brought up is going to help us a ton with responsiveness to a parent concern or issue. The system that we use pushes a parents response to the bottom of the page if we are unable to respond back within a timeframe. It also pushes you to the bottom when we send a message to you that really is probably very simple. Sometimes we try and call but other times it’s just easier to send a text. But we have to do a better job of “tagging” and reminding ourselves to follow up on an open item and not leaving it as unresolved. If we leave it open, the follow up will take much longer than needed. So again thank you for the review and look forward to making SHINE shine and our children☀️

Positive experience: ***Update*** The only issues we have with this practice is communication and the Tytocare experience. It seems like everything has to be done via the klara app. When you call, no one ever answers and you have to leave a voicemail serveral times. Why isn't anyone answering calls? Sometimes they call back but most of the time they just message on the app which is frustrating. The app has some hiccups but in general, I'd rather just speak with someone to make sure all my questions/concerns are answered and not overlooked via a chat. We are also long distance so we use the Tytocare app. We used it for the first time the other day and the instructions that the office sent via Klara were incorrect. The instructions said the video call would be conducted via Tytocare app but after several minutes passed by after the appointment time, the office called and said it would be on the klara app. A few hiccups in that regard but we still love this office and will continue to get our care here in hopes they will address these issues. ---------------- We absolutely love Dr. Naidoo. We have a newborn daughter and ever since we met Dr. Naidoo in the hospital, we have really loved him. He's gentle, kind, personable and best of all, he suggests natural remedies for issues we're having instead of just throwing prescriptions at us for a quick fix or suggesting OTC medication that may be well known, but not the best for our child. We are moving 2 hours away soon but we are willing to make the drive for our daughter's checkups just to stay with him. Highly recommend if you're looking for a more naturopathic approach to your child's medical care :) As far as the office, the staff is extremely friendly and personable. They really do go out of their way to help. After being released from the hospital with our newborn on a Thursday, we were told to schedule an appointment with Dr. Naidoo the next day but we were having issues getting ahold of the office via phone (an issue with our service provider, not the office itself). We made a trip up to the office Friday morning instead and explained the situation. We also explained that our daughter had a severe tongue and lip tie and that we had a rough first night with her feeding so we were really hoping to get in that day for some help. Note: it was a Friday and they closed early. Danielle, a staff member, said that she would speak with the doctor and see if they could get us in that day. Since we were having issues contacting them via phone, she gave us her personal number just in case. We decided to go get some food while we waited. Dr. Naidoo got us in 5 minutes after we left the parking lot :) thank you guys!

Fantastic experience: So grateful for a pediatric clinic that honors holistic care and understands what real holistic care is. The providers have all been great, but we really love Dr. Naidoo. We also feel heard by the providers. They respect and support the decisions we make to keep our child's care as natural as possible. Highly recommend this practice.
