Our comment from Nutrifinder.net about Atrius Health Medford:
Atrius Health Medford is dedicated to providing exceptional healthcare services in a friendly and accessible environment. Many visitors have praised the helpful and caring staff, highlighting their ability to offer excellent support across various departments, especially in pediatrics and ophthalmology. The facility boasts a convenient location with free on-site parking, making it a user-friendly choice for appointments.
However, some patients have expressed concerns regarding appointment scheduling, reporting long wait times and occasional cancellations. While most interactions have been positive, a few have noted that communication could improve, particularly through the myhealth app, which has been described as hit-or-miss. Issues with the mental health department and follow-up care have also been mentioned.
Overall, Atrius Health Medford remains a trusted provider, but the management is encouraged to address specific areas for improvement to enhance patient experiences.
Atrius Health Medford: Reviews
Fantastic experience: Had to go to Medford Atrius after a mixup of appointments. Everyone was helpful, and friendly. Easy to get to and a parking garage right next door!
Fantastic experience: Everyone that I have worked with have given me very excellent help!
Fantastic experience: Very positive experience in the care of Dr Yang and the entire ophthalmological team in visual services
Negative experience: Every time I have an appointment here they call me the day of and cancel. 3 times in one year this has happened to me.
Negative experience: This place is ethically and morally incompetent. The manager was unprofessional. Dr.Sackton and her team made an appointment in secret behind my back for my kids and administered vaccinations to my children, which I told them I did not want them to have. There’s a history of my daughter and my family having a very bad reaction to the same vaccines that she gave them. They’re so obsessed with shoving their ways down my throat that they disrespected our beliefs and wishes. A forced re-education as if I’m not well read, informed and educated on the subject matter.
Positive experience: Typical service for healthcare. Garage may be filled.
Positive experience: We have only ever come here for sick visits. In general, the staff are nice, and the providers caring and knowledgeable, but we’ve always had to wait 60 minutes+ past the initial appointment time to see the NP or DR.
Fantastic experience: Great care and support. Great doctor. Skilled and friendly knowledgeable and thoughtful
Fantastic experience: I accompany my mother here & they are efficient in checking patients in & very handicap accessible, as well as ample on site parking. Getting out of the parking lot may be challenging depending on the time of day.
Negative experience: So far, unfortunately, as a patient here for about 4 months, I've had some big problems. I saw a general physician first, who recommended me to an orthopedic specialist. The orthopedic doctor apologized and said that it should have been obvious to the general physician, that I did not need an orthopedic doctor, I needed a spinal specialist. So.. I had to wait another few months for that correct appointment, as whomever does the scheduling, did not actually book this next appointment. I was still charged, despite health insurance, a few hundred dollars for this incorrect first visit. Another problem is the communication via the myhealth app. It is hit or miss with getting a response! And also, for whatever reason, the ability to write directly back to a message from my primary care team, is not possible? Why would the button for a return message be unavailable? Now, to the biggest thing that is bothering me, there is a 6 months wait for an appointment with my primary and the primary's team. A 6 month wait to see my doctor is unacceptable... I'll have to look into finding another primary doctor unfortunately
Hi Fred, We are so sorry to hear you've had such a difficult time getting care. Please contact our corporate patient relations department at [email protected] or call 617-559-8440 for help getting the care you need.
Fantastic experience: Free parking garage on the location everyone was friendly.
Fantastic experience: My son has been a patient at Harvard Vanguard in Medford since he was born. He has an extremely rare syndrome and has had three open heart surgeries. Each time I contact the office Gloria helps me. She makes sure my son is taken care of. She is empathetic, kind, and goes above and beyond. I am so thankful for Gloria and all she has done for my family. People like her deserve to be recognized. She is a huge asset to the Harvard Vanguard team!
Negative experience: This review is specifically focused on the HV Behavioral Health department of Medford. My partner had a horrific experience at this practice. In his initial meeting with a practitioner, she overstepped and provided medical advice for my personal experience based on information he shared about himself, without ever having reviewed my medical records or speaking to me directly. Further, she provided a prescription for behavioral health medication and then provided zero follow up for several months, canceling several appointments with him and never checking in to determine if the medications had side effects. Once he was seen by a new clinician at a different practice, they immediately expressed concerns with the way his case had been managed and the borderline malpractice committed by this psychiatrist who provided medication and did not do her due diligence in ensuring that it did not result in dangerous ramifications for her patient. In their final meeting after he had switched clinicians, she repeatedly stated that he was on XYZ medication when he had not been on that for several months, per her change in prescription. She had no record of this in her own notes, and was extremely dismissive and unprofessional. This physician is lucky to just be receiving a negative Google review, rather than a lawsuit.
Fantastic experience: Good experience at pharmacy, helpful staff
Fantastic experience: Here and Somerville I have all my medical needs met.
Fantastic experience: outstanding service and outstanding medical Staff.
Negative experience: With all due respect and with great hesitation, I say to the supervisors of this hospital to change the work system and the method of dealing with those who put their hands towards yours. We suffer a lot when we do not find appointments soon, and we suffer more when we get an appointment with difficulty and do not activate the sensor system to confirm the appointment. My son’s health matters are known. Big slips with Atrius Hospital in Medford.
Positive experience: It seems like it’s getting better and the care (administrative experience and clinical experience) are getting better!
Negative experience: Rude person at the reception at the ophthalmology. He had zero patience with repeating what he said before, immediately raised his voice. The management should educate the team members that our society is versatile and some speak English not so perfect as I do.
Negative experience: I have been going here for almost three years since I moved to Boston. As of late, the staffs' responses to my calls or messages have been terse, as if my reaching out bothers them. So I think it’s time to take my health services somewhere else.
Negative experience: Mental health is a joke with this place. I was hung up on 4 times in the last week alone while trying to make an appointment or the line just rings. I then sent a message on the app and a whole week later no one has responded to me. I let them know I was having suicidal thoughts due to the medication and I still haven’t heard anything back and I’m left to withdraw on my own with no guidance and feel all of these things on my own with no guidance but a suicide hotline number. USELESS to suicidal people. What an absolute joke.
Positive experience: Very nice staff & Doctors, cloth chairs filthy, and this pic of the arm of the lab chair where people have blood taken, says it all. STILL RIPPED ALL THESE MONTHS LATER.
Fantastic experience: Front desk staff are always professional and provide great service. I have to say after utilizing multiple departments here that service is consistent. Especially the nursing staff in OBGYN.
Negative experience: Doctors never shows up on appointment time, everytime we have to wait over an hour.
Fantastic experience: Apparently I never had 'pneumonia'.
Fantastic experience: Had to get a covid test and nowadays you do it yourself. Everything went as smooth as clockwork. The results came back by thr next day in order for me to go into the hospital for my procedure.
Negative experience: I am unhappy with a recent visit Atrius Health in Medford. I brought my daughter to the Optometry Department for her yearly check up. I was considering changing Optometrist so this was her first appt here. While I was told when I made the appt, that they could see children, when I got to the appointment, the doctor told me that she did not feel comfortable giving my daughter a prescription and suggested I take her to a pediatric optometrist. The doctor was polite and nice to my daughter but given that she did not feel comfortable giving her a prescription, the appointment was actually just a waste of my time. Atrius Health charged my insurance company just the same. I asked them to retract the service with BCBS but they refused.
Fantastic experience: Some of the best medical associates I've dealt with
Negative experience: I wish 0 rating existed. I like my doctor Endo Toro. He is amazing. The problem is with the system. Let me tell you why. When I met Dr. Toro for the first time, he gave me a lot of tests and also told me that he will have a follow up visit with me after all the test reports are in his hand. After I got all the test report, I was waiting for a call from the doctor's office. Week after week passed and nothing happened. After four weeks, I told them that my symptoms are not gone fully. The next day, I saw a message on mychart saying that they will schedule a follow up with me. Come on! You are saying that after I called you!! Well, we scheduled a follow up date and the day before I had cold symptoms, which could be covid. I called them to ask whether I am eligible for the previous follow up visit. They said they will pass this message to their covid team and they will tell whether I can visit them or not. I waited till midnight for a call from them. None called. After I contracted covid, I called them to learn what I need to follow as I had fever and other serious symptoms. They said its the peak time for covid. They are serving a lot of their patients which put me in 2 hour wait time or they will call back. 14 days passed! I finished my quarantined without having a single conversation with my primary care provider. After all the above happned, finally I managed to get that followup visit with a nurse at 8 am. Yay! After I arrived there, they requested me whether I can wait 10 minute. I said Sure! I waited till 9 am and since I had to teach a university level class from 9.30, I stood up and went to receiptionist saying I cant be here anymore. They apologized very politely and I left. What a mess!
Negative experience: Do not use this service for any sort of mental health practices. This place is wildly unprofessional. First, one of the psychiatrists was very uninformed about how to manage trauma related issues and forced me to talk about trauma is gross detail. After I had asked to switch doctors due to this lack of trauma informed care, they wouldn’t let me switch unless I confronted the doctor about why I wanted to switch. Ofc, I should not have to be the one confronting her if I’m violently uncomfortable by how she treated me, so I was forced to say with her. I then booked an appointment with another psychiatrist in the practice to hopefully switch (but could not totally switch due to a fear of medication withdrawals). Today, three months after I booked the appointment, they tell me that the doctor I wanted to see wasn’t comfortable with me leaving this other doctor to go to her. What crazy politics and lack of patient confidentially is this?? They have no sense of trauma informed care, no privacy, and the receptionists are beyond rude and play into the craziness in this office. TLDR: do everything you can to not go here.
Fantastic experience: Great place, the staff us some of the best
Negative experience: Mental health physicians here suck. Do not get your psych perscriber through them. Unresponsive when asking for refills. Refusing to refill my Latuda for days now and I am beginning to go into serious withdrawals. They do not care. Find an outside physician for mental health care. My NP that was working with me here has no bedside manner and was very cold all the time. Pediatrics was always good to me and internal medicine but I can't get past the way I've been treated when trying to get refills from my provider here. Now I am without my medication and going to suffer for the next week or two as I come off of it. Inexcusable. Sorry.
Negative experience: Horrible practice on how they treat patients, they don't inform you on bills that you might owe if the insurance doesn't cover, and expect you to use their portal app that is filled with bugs. Used the portal app to message my doctor and was asked to make an appointment instead of getting a quick call or a follow up call or email. Save your time and go somewhere else.
Positive experience: I've been a member since 1985!!
Fantastic experience: Good service, parking easy
Positive experience: Free on-site parking and a friendly staff make this a pleasant place to have your appointment.
Negative experience: I made an appointment through their portal for a behavioral health evaluation and was only given the option for an in-person visit. I took time off work and a $15 uber only to be told that all appointments are virtual and I'd have to reschedule. I waited 2 months for this appointment and will have to wait another 2.
Fantastic experience: Dr. Andrew Jones MD,MPH in Medford office was exceptional with the care of my 92 year old mother. HE was her primary care doctor. Mom had chronic medical problems and Dr. Jones was able to refer the right specialists when needed. Mom passed away last month at home when hospice took over. After Dr. Jones found out he followed up with me by phone showing his care and concern to our family. He did several follow ups with calls when needed. He listens, understands, and truly cares for his patents. I Highly Recommend him
Fantastic experience: Never a problem. Great service.
Positive experience: I thought the place is convenient from where I live (Malden) and the have a garage with free parking but, the give you a mask (even if you have your own) and you do have to sit in wait for the Doctor like most medical clinics however I did see a Eye doctor and she was wonderful she 20 something but, she so nice.
Negative experience: I was traumatized when during a recent wellness check up my sons then pediatrician who was new to us, Dr. Ian Hopewood, performed what I would later learn from his supervising doctor there was a manual and supposedly routine procedure. He did so with out any advance warning, explanation and did not ask for my consent. Me and my infant son were very uncomfortable during the visit; he also kept pressuring me about multiple things from coming into the office in person when I wanted to wait things out and stay virtual due to covid, and would call me nonstop in order to try and relay a non urgent message. I was so distraught over the nature of my sons check up that I sought to speak with his supervising doctor to find out what exactly went wrong during the physical, and I relayed that due to this traumatic experience I was switching hospitals. This takes time and in the process of booking my sons next wellness visit and waiting for his insurance to come thru in the mail, I made sure multiple times with the hospital he would be switching over to that he was registered. We then received an alarming and unexpected phone call from DCF stating that a mandated reporter was reporting possible abuse and neglect due to the fact that his next hospital showed no proof of registration or an appointment - both of which are false. There were other false allegations made against me that were similar in nature and I am now having another onset of ptsd due to how as a result of the lack of professionalism and lack of common sense which I have never experienced at any other place where we received medical care my son is essentially being threatened to be taken away since that is what falls under the scope of DCF. I will never recommend Harvard Vanguard Medford pediatrics to other moms again, especially during this trying time which makes it hard enough as is to find the support one truly needs. Be very careful to look for another pediatric team elsewhere if you are a minority or a single mom -shalom to all who are reading this.
Hi Jeanette, Please call our corporate patient relations department at 617-559-8440 or email [email protected] so we can learn more about your experience. Thank you.
Fantastic experience: One stop medical. Ample parking and caring caregivers!
Fantastic experience: Very good
Negative experience: The other day I had a appointment in the obgyn and the nurse there was so rude and unwelcoming. The attitude and ethic of the “nurse” Monique was so unprofessional. The second she called my name i was put in the worse mood because of the way she spoke to me. It seemed like she was in a bad mood and wanted everyone around her to be. Very disappointing considering i’ve been going to Medford Harvard Vanguard my whole life.
Fantastic experience: Medical Facility with so many depts in one place, pharmacy, behavioral health, internal medicine, pediatrics, lab, medical specialties, best practice for covid, empathy,
Fantastic experience: Best place for all medical needs and pharmacy services as well
Fantastic experience: Friendly and caring staff, safe, convenient, and clean.
Fantastic experience: Love hvg
Positive experience: Great staff, good social distance measures in place.
Negative experience: Very disappointed with the last visit where they wouldn't left both parents into pediatrics. I tried to book a flu shot over the phone and the person was so incompetent, they kept asking me the same questions over and over about what I needed, who I needed to see. They also took away one of the specialities I used to see and now only offer locations that are very inconvenient as an alternative.
Fantastic experience: I have been going to this place for years and it is always a great experience !
Fantastic experience: Love it
Fantastic experience: Dr. McCarron and her staff are always so kind and professional.
Negative experience: Service at this location is so bad especially in pediatric department, my daughter had kidney infection neither her doctor or the Somerville location couldn't do much her they were so scared of her fever they had to send her to children they were so great they took my 6 months old with open arms. Her doctor knew her situation no call no follow up. 2 months later went back for vaccine she developed fever again no instructions from her doctor on the doze of medication or what to expecte from the shot. I called to reach out for help the receptionist send me to the coved19 department because my daughter had fever. When my wife was at the doctor for visit prior to the vaccine shot the doctor asked my wife about my daughter kidney exrays that they supposed to do to my baby 2 months ago but no one called or schedule one for her. Basically if you need to take your child to this place you need to be doctor your self to know what do and what steps to take and don't expect no follow ups or remainders.....
Fantastic experience: Great they help my mom with meds
Fantastic experience: Simply the Best!
Negative experience: The psychiatry department discriminates against cannabis card users and will not offer any help if you are a holder of a medicinal cannabis card. They are biased and they aren't worth your time. You can have a fresh new evaluation, it won't matter; if you're a medical cannabis card holder they aren't gonna help you at all. Just goes to show how times will never change within the medical community and how no help will ever be given to cannabis patients in the psychiatry field, just biased discrimination.
Fantastic experience: We're big fans of Dr Bross & Dr Cunningham in the pediatrics dept. Wonderful people, very communicative and thorough with their explanations, etc.
Fantastic experience: Everyone seems super nice every time I go for my doctor's appointment.
Fantastic experience: Customers service
Negative experience: Doctors schedule unnecessary tests to make money for the clinic.
Positive experience: Friendly receptionist doctors that are pretty decent
Positive experience: Great services!
Fantastic experience: Great health care, highly recommend
Positive experience: Typical 99 food nothing great but not awful
Fantastic experience: Medical team is great and the administration personnel treat patient really well.
Fantastic experience: Friendly and helpful
Fantastic experience: Best doctors
Fantastic experience: People are friendly and the doctors are great.
Positive experience: Good
Fantastic experience: This is by far the best Harvard Vanguard. The staff is friendly, the facility is clean, and it’s easy to get to. The biggest thing for me though is how much nicer the people are that work at this facility. I also feel like the doctors are more thorough, and actually take their time to listen.
Fantastic experience: I love Harvard Vanguard. The doctors are great and you have them for all specializations and prescriptions in one place.
Fantastic experience: Kind, courteous, and respectful
Fantastic experience: I can’t give this place anything but a 5 star rating. My mom been going here since I probably was born (maybe a little later than that), dad and brothers. They had Dr, D’Ambrosio. Great doctor. Place is so clean and organized. They have made many new updates over the years. The bathroom is extremely clean. The doctors and medical attention my mom receives is outstanding. I tried to go to only one other doctor at another facility and they had me reschedule because I was 5 minutes late. This place is just great all around. Employees, cleanliness, the doctors, everything 5 star.
Fantastic experience: Very well organised & quick services
Fantastic experience: Harvard Vanguard client for over 40 years. Access to the best hospitals in Boston.
Fantastic experience: Great care.
Fantastic experience: Great care and exceptional staff.
Positive experience: I don't have the Health Plan with them anymore!! I know of a few who passed away under that Plan!!!
Positive experience: I had a good experience here during my annual physical exam and would go again. Somehow though I've skipped through my checkout, so I haven't made a new appointment. The wait was almost non-existent, the staff is friendly, and nobody including the doctor made me feel unwelcomed at any point during my visit.
Fantastic experience: Great medical place has all your medical needs.
Fantastic experience: Best place
Fantastic experience: I love Dr Bross and all the other Dr’s and staff here I only wish they could be my Primary Dr!!
Positive experience: Good doctors. Good location. Ok timing.
Negative experience: They gave me and appointed for 8 mounth later for dermatologists.Silliest thing ever heard. Why would you even say that you provide the service...
Fantastic experience: Great doctors
Fantastic experience: Great dr's
Fantastic experience: Great doctors
Fantastic experience: Been going to this office for over ten years, and have always had great experiences from the front desk check-in to the pharmacy before I leave. Wonderful doctors.
Fantastic experience: Dr Linda Lee!
Positive experience: They were very pleasant and helpful..
Fantastic experience: Love love love
Fantastic experience: Like it
Fantastic experience: If you get sick, this is a great place to get treated.
Negative experience: The billing department is incompetent. They coded preventative care as cardiovascular issue and billed me incorrectly. They lacked basic understanding during phone call to resolve the issue.
Hi Arun, If you would like, please contact our patient relations department at [email protected] or call 617-559-8440.
Positive experience: Not Happy with Harvard Maybe the Merger with Tufts Will Help Over Work Under Staffed. John K O'Brien
Fantastic experience: Good
Positive experience: A lot of trouble here. From admins not properly checking us in to long wait times for call backs on "help" line. We've decided to change providers for our son.
Fantastic experience: She is great, personable, efficient, on time, good advice. My wife feels the same way
Positive experience: Typical neighborhood clinic don't expect anything leading edge
