Experiencia fantástica: I’ve been a patient of Dr. Melek at Beloved Medical Clinic for the past 4-5 yrs.and I have come to deeply appreciate his expertise and wisdom in the many areas of medicine that I never originally knew he specialized in as an internist. His renowned reputation as a wound specialist was beneficial when I had a traumatic leg injury from a recent accident but I was truly surprised when from that same accident he performed an in office nerve block along the nerves that extended to the very painful muscle area with a hematoma in it. SUCH RELIEF! I only wish the good doctor that I had in the Plano hospital I spent 5 days in after the accident had known to to relieve my pain that way. I’m very grateful and fortunate that Dr. Melek and his kind, wonderful staff have been my primary caregiver (s)! ❤️

Experiencia negativa: My Experience with Dr. John Melek I’ve been seeing Dr. John Melek as my primary care physician for nearly two years. Unfortunately, my experience has been consistently disappointing. I often felt that my concerns weren’t heard or thoroughly considered. Instead of taking time to understand my medical history, he would frequently prescribe medications that were ineffective for my symptoms. It gave me the impression that financial gain mattered more to him than patient care. I left appointments feeling dismissed and frustrated. I wouldn’t recommend this doctor to others based on my personal experience.

Experiencia negativa: I am a BK amputee with constant phantom pain in my residual limb. “Dr. Melek” said he was going to test the medication and stuck me several times in my nub. It was very painful and bled profusely! It may have helped the pain for an hour or two, but that was probably just hopes. After a couple of months, my nub was still swollen and would not fit in my prosthetic without even more pain than before. I called the clinic to inquire what exactly they put in me so I could research it. The receptionist did not know and asked if I would like to speak to the “doctor.” I said sure. He called within five minutes. I asked him what he injected me with because it had swollen my nub. He argued with me that it could not be the medication and then ultimately hung up on me within five minutes. Then I started getting a bill for almost $300 for this conversation. I have called their office and spoke with the receptionist and whoever else I could talk to several times. I have sent emails and texts. They just told me the bill is legitimate. But I’m not so sure that this clinic is! It seems they have at least four aliases (see photo). The envelopes say “Love Wounds, PLLC” with the same address. My next step is to turn them into the Better Business Bureau.

This fee was never mentioned when I scheduled the appointment. To make matters worse, the bill falsely stated it was for an X-ray exam, which I never had. This feels like a complete scam!

Experiencia negativa: ⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️ **READ BEFORE BOOKING AN APPOINTMENT HERE** ⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️ I lost my health insurance earlier this year. Previously, I had BCBS, and I had several appointments with this doctor, which were all positive experiences. However, today's visit was a stark departure from those previous encounters. This was my first time returning to Beloved Medicine without health insurance, and the difference in treatment was astonishing. Despite recently being diagnosed as pre-diabetic and having a pre-cancerous polyp removed from my colon, the doctor did not inquire about my ailments or ask any details about my hasty and sudden same-day appointment request. Instead, he rolled his eyes, made no attempts to console me, and abruptly ended my appointment, refusing to spend more than 5 minutes with me. These 5 minutes cost me $150. After requesting a summary of the visit, including medications prescribed and a visit summary, the staff not only acted like this was an outrageous request, they flat out refused. They told me to wait until Monday because they were closing, stating that I was the last patient of the day and it was the weekend. I am beyond appalled that this doctor had the gall to accuse me in front of his staff of being "under the influence" after I became upset with the situation I was in. Furthermore, I was called "belligerent" several times by the doctor. Based on the staff's reaction to the situation, it seems that this behavior is not out of the ordinary for them. This is the second doctor in the past few months since I lost insurance who has been noticeably rude and unprofessional. Experiencing this firsthand is eye-opening to a majorly disheartening flaw in our healthcare system. Some of these doctors need to be retrained on ethics because treating patients differently, or worse, when they don't have health insurance is a disgrace to the Hippocratic Oath. I will not be returning to the "Beloved Medicine Clinic," and this review serves as a warning to those considering it. Fortunately, I obtained health insurance at the beginning of this year and was able to address the medical issues I was experiencing, albeit without any assistance from this doctor. I will be reporting this doctor to The Texas Medical Board, and I hope that appropriate action is taken to address this incredibly egregious behavior.
