Experiencia negativa: Beware. Went to “Urgent Care” for a respiratory infection. I needed a nasal swab and antivirals. I was treated as if I was wasting their time… so imagine my surprise when I received the Emergency Room bill. My share after insurance is almost $600. I’m now being told that Urgent Care vs ER is at the discretion of the physicians. A respiratory infection that was a waste of their time gets billed as a life threatening emergency?

Experiencia positiva: Actually it was good. Dr. Dahm is funny - a good distraction from the pain of removing stitches! One thing: the nurse at rehab this morning said he left one stitch still in place. 12/2/25 visit: what I learned over time was that I needed a lot more information about the healing process of a broken ankle. I was constantly being surprised and frustrated by the extended recovery time that Dr. Dahm didn’t discuss with me. I had no idea how long it would take. I needed more from him. Today on my last appointment with him he did provide information and suggestions for dealing with ongoing swelling of my foot and ankle. I appreciated that. Please just do more of that sooner.

Experiencia negativa: Melissa gets 5 stars I liked her and she explained things well. SSM gets a 1 Star. Got X-ray on the 17th at clinic, they said they would call once it was read. No one called until Monday they said there was a fracture and would I like a an app set up with ortho. I said yes, she said she would take care of it and call me back. Finally Wen morning I called ortho myself. They got me that afternoon with Melissa. It should not have taken 5-6 days and several calls to get my arm looked at. This is my second experience with uplands that was less than good service. I know everyone is busy but when you say you will make someone an app and get back to them you should. And it shouldn’t take 3 days to read an X-ray. Mel Loy

After sharing my overview of my PT progress with her she concluded that I just need enough time to build stamina and endurance. Dr Messer is relaxed, showing her natural caring for the patient. She is a good listener. I highly recommend Dr Messer for orthopedic care.

Experiencia fantástica: I recently had a total knee revision surgery performed by Dr. Brian Keyes and a carpel tunnel release surgery of my right hand performed by Dr. James Dahm, both performed as outpatient surgeries at Upland Hills Hospital. I was able to get each surgery scheduled rather quickly compared to the usual wait far into the future for a surgery appointment at a Madison hospital or outpatient surgery center. I was treated very well by all the Upland Hills Hospital staff during both of these outpatient surgeries. Both surgeries had successful outcomes and my body healed quickly. The knee revision surgery was the third surgery on my left knee following a worn out 13 year old partial knee replacement and a recent full knee revision surgery performed at a Madison hospital that began failing after only two months of recovery. I couldn’t get my original surgeon to see me in a timely basis about the failing full revision surgery. But a neighbor recommended Dr. Keyes, who quickly assessed my knee condition and scheduled me for another surgery before I was even able to see the previous surgeon in Madison again. My recovery from the knee surgery performed at Upland Hills Hospital was the fastest recovery of the three surgeries on that knee. I have one more thing to add about the kind and caring staff at Upland Hills Hospital. They even let my wife wait in the hospital waiting room during my carpal tunnel surgery with our new 2 year old toy poodle/bichon mix breed dog who we had recently took in from someone who had to rehome her. We had thought my wife would have to wait in our car with our dog until I recovered from the surgery anesthesia.

Experiencia negativa: I was not impressed with LPN Taylor whose personal hygiene was less than desirable and skills were even worse. She tried to take my blood pressure while my legs were crossed and never realized that was the reason she was getting a wonky reading. When I brought this to Dr. Graney’s attention he said “I didn’t hire her.” He went on to criticize my recent surgery which was done at the #1 hospital in the country and possibly the world, Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN. Needless to say, I will not be returning to see Dr. Graney.

Experiencia negativa: Horrible absolutely horrible, these people pretend to listen to and they agree with you, then they ask their colleagues what they think the issue is, without anyone else actually taking a look to see whatever the concern being addressed is, mind you by looking at a photo that they take of said concern and they have to ask someone else what it is! I thought you have a medical license to be able to determine what it is that is being diagnosed! I was given an antibiotic for a fungal infection twice! Hope these punks get shut down!

Experiencia fantástica: I needed echocardiogram need a week before my Spine Surgery and called my regular provide SSM health Madison and they had 6 weeks wait. So, in a whim I decided to call Upland Hills where I had Physical Therapy in the past. Not only, I got in for the next day, but they also helped me get referral from my Primary Care. I was in and out pretty quickly as they had told me- no wait at all. The technician took care of me very carefully answering all my questions and even walked out to show my the Exit. Thank you Upland Hills Clinic for you kindness and hospitality.

Experiencia fantástica: A very good experience… Quick check in with the triage, then dealing with the insurance card/Office stuff once in a treatment room waiting for the doctor. Dr. explained everything thoroughly, so did the nurse prior to starting an IV, so did the tech in the CT scan. Everybody explained what was going happen in advance, so there were no surprises which was very nice. My issue was resolved, and even though they were fairly busy that night, it still didn’t take that long. They Even found an issue I was unaware of, It did not need treatment, but I do need to monitor it. Overall, a very positive experience.

Experiencia fantástica: Arrived at Urgent Care approximately 5:15 pm and they were EXTREMELY busy. Was greeted right away and addressed about the seriousness of my concern. After I assured them mine was not an “emergency” situation I was directed to have a seat and they would be out to address my concern asap. All personnel were professional, polite, knowledgeable thus I have nothing but praise and respect for all of them. In a relatively short time I was taken into an exam room and all my pertinent information included my concern for being there was taken in and recorded. I was then asked to return to the waiting area and they would out to get me when a room became available. After I short period of time a nurse came out and guided me to the available room. She asked, obtained and recorded all the information that was need. After a short time Dr Thomas came in introduced himself to me and addressed my concerns. I could not have been treated any better shown more respect and had all my questions and concerned addressed than I did. As tremendously busy as everyone was, no one rushed through anything but conducted themselves in a manner that showed their sincere care and concern addressing my issues.Overall things could not have gone better and I could not have been treated with any more care and concern that I received from everyone I saw. Thank you so much to everyone that assisted me and addressed my concerns. I could not be happier with my experience with the care I received.

Experiencia fantástica: I have had many doctors in my 73 years. Dr. Schaaf is the best by far. In my last visit I went in thinking I might have an ear infection. After looking in my ear she found that instead I had one kind of cancer. She removed one on my ear. The other was on my scalp above my ear covered with hair. She explained that I would need a surgeon and pathologist working together to remove ir. She referred me to the persons I need to remove it. I’ve never had a doctor as perceptive as Dr. Schaaf. What she tells me is ready from the office when Ieave. She is personable and caring.
