Experiencia negativa: Disappointing Lack of Compassion After experiencing a devastating loss in our family due to HIV, we turned to Tulsa CARES hoping for support with cremation expenses for our loved one—a former client of theirs. To our shock and deep disappointment, they refused to help. This organization, which claims to serve the HIV community with dignity and compassion, showed neither in our time of need. According to their own 2024 annual report, Tulsa CARES received $4,912,171 in funding but spent only $4,237,128. That left over $675,000 in unspent funds after all administrative and program expenses were covered. Yet they could not spare a modest amount to assist with final arrangements for someone they once claimed to care for. This refusal makes one question where their priorities truly lie. If a grieving family in crisis doesn’t qualify for help—even with significant surplus funds—who does? It's disheartening to see an organization with ample resources fail so completely at a basic act of human decency. Tulsa CARES needs to be held accountable for the way it allocates its funds and treats the very community it’s supposed to serve. We hope others have a better experience, but sadly, we were left feeling abandoned at one of the hardest moments of our lives.

Experiencia negativa: Complained about mistreatment by the staff and one of their vendors, so they cut off my access to nutrition and transportation services completely. It's like cruelty is the point.

Experiencia fantástica: They've Recently moved into a *New Building & it's very Very Nice! {..thank u `tha Late‘ Mr. Charles Faudree..}They offer Several services, including - Food pantry, Farmers Markets every other week, Counseling services, Housing assistance, every Tuesday@noon They provide a delicious lunch, & various other stuff.. Ohh.. 1 thing that I Always Look forward to is - every Summer they have a picnic style lunch/cook out @ Mohawk Park, then afterwards They pay for costs for going to the Zoo!
