A year ago after many other treatments, failed back surgery I thought I was running out of options then by chance a very good friend of mine told me about Specific Health and Dr Lavell. Today I am a new man. Dr Lavell and all the folks working at Specific Health are great to work with and have my utmost thanks and I will be forever grateful for how they have changed my life.
Very thorough and attentive, listening and offering diagnosis and treatment that wasn’t pushy, but appropriate. The Gonstead method really gives me results.
I had never seen a doctor regarding my back or neck because I thought it was all part of getting older. I frequently took aspirin and or IBP after a long walk because of the pain and stiffness. At work when I would get up from my best after sitting for period of time. I would be so stiff I could not immediately stand up straight. I would need to walk slightly bent over… gradually standing up straight as I walked. My neck was stiff too but here again I thought it was part of getting older and probably needing… a better pillow. After beginning care with Specific Family when I get up I am no longer stiff and unable to straighten up. My back feels great. . I am grateful and more than satisfied with the quality of care I have received at SFC. I have highly recommended them to other family members who have also been fully satisfied with care and results they have received.
I had pain and tightness in neck and back. On a scale of 1-10 I would say it was an “8”. I have had this for 2+ years. I use to see a chiropractor in Illinois that used the Gonstead technique and he told me to be sure and find a doctor that used this. To make a long story short, I didn’t. I was miserable and now I come to Specific Family Chiropractic and I feel “GOOD”! No, my insurance does not cover this for me, but I come anyway. I know a good thing when I have found it! I still come but my initial problem took about two months to get results. I am treated very well and I do know that they truly care for the way I feel.
I have been going to Dr Jeff Lavell for over 20 years. Prior to going to Specific Chiropractors. I wasn't able to go 3 weeks without pain. Dr Jeff is the first Chiropractor who has given me weeks between visits. The only reason it isn't longer is my fault. I don't get enough exercise and stretching. So I'm not playing my part. They have a wide range of services to mitigate pain and help one get back to feeling good. I also like to get massages there. Dr Jeff is well educated in functional medicine and uses supplements to assist the body in healing itself. He is constantly researching various products as to their uses and effectiveness. When he makes a suggestion I know it's because it has been proven to work. I often use his suggestions along with my prescribed medication. I find Specific Health and the people there particularly caring, knowledgeable and interested in my wellbeing.

I was in an auto accident and called there, leaving a voicemail after hours, and sure enough, right away the next morning, K called me and squeezed me in to see a dr that day to check me out and treat me. In 2024 it got even worse where I really thought I was going to loose the use of both of my legs because I could hardly walk anymore. I found 10 Chiropractors on the internet that offered treatment for Neuropathy. Dr. Jeff is extremely thorough and he took time to consult with me, asked great questions and was interested in understanding what my goals are. We started with an honest conversation, a scan and then agreed on a plan to hopefully resolve my pain and discomfort (bulging discs, bone spurs and a shorter leg that breaks me out of alignment). I have been a chiropractic skeptic, but my recent experience with Dr Lavell to treat and resolve a sports related spinal injury has made me an advocate of his practice. His technology based diagnostic and comprehensive treatment plan, with milestones, got results efficiently and effectively. He has broad and current knowledge and experience, a teaching professional, and he and his team were a pleasure to work with. I would go to Specific Health again if the need arises.

I’ve been treated for: back, shoulders, hips, knees, thumbs joint, ect.. I’ve been with specific chiropractic, for close to 15 yrs. With insurance and with out, Affordable either way. When it matters to feel better. Their my guy/gal for results.

2 years ago Experiencia fantástica: I've been coming here for many years. Most recently, I was in a therapy program for my knees. It worked really well. If you are thinking you may need knee surgery, check this program out first. Good chance you can be helped. Dr Lavell is straightforward with you and honest. He will tell you right away if he feels you can get relief from knee pain and a better range of motion. It's worth a try!

I go to Dr Jeff and seek his advice on all my medical issues! He has a wonderful “cleanse” program that I have used in the past and seek to do so again soon! 2 years ago Experiencia fantástica: I have gone to Dr lavell since 2001. He has worked wonders for my overall health and I actually maintain a pretty great life thanks to him and his staff! I would recommend him to my family and even strangers. He is one of the good morally ethically chiropractors around. He is not just my doctor but I call him friend as well. You can trust him and that he'll lead you down the right path. I'm loving proof!

2 years ago Experiencia fantástica: Had back, neck issues pretty much my whole life been to way to many doctors than I can list .. was referred to here but like most kept putting it off till I just had enough and was the best decision I’ve ever made ! The whole team here from receptionist to all who work here are the absolute best .you will not be just a number but a person and they care !! Went from pain levels of wanting to jump off bridge and back going out two three times a month to living a normal life again ! Back hasn’t gone out once since I’ve been going here most others wanted to do surgery and I just wasn’t comfortable with that so thank god I went here only regret is I didn’t go in earlier!! 2 years ago Experiencia fantástica: I was miserable and scared when I was diagnosed with neropothy. I did not know what was happening to me. I would lose my balance and would fall over. I couldn’t get off a chair or couch on my own. I had to get a walker and a toilet seat riser. I was scared to dive because I couldn’t feel my feet. It’s Very humbling and embarrassing but writing this to give you hope. I have tears writing this because they helped me so much! Thank you Dr Jeff and staff. ❤️I’m getting my life back.

2 years ago Experiencia fantástica: I apologize for this long review... In 2013, I tore my L5/S1 disc. At that time, I went through all the normal medical procedures: Oral steroids, physical therapy, epidural steroid injections, muscle relaxers, pain medication, traditional chiropractic, and even radio frequency ablation to burn off my facet medial branch nerves. None of it worked. After suffering for five years, the pain subsided enough to be tolerable. In 2022, the injury flared up, but worse than before; anything and everything I did resulted in severe pain. A mere sneeze or simple gag reflex brushing my teeth would drop me to my knees in agonizing pain. Luckily, my daughter had recently been treated and cured for chronic back pain by Dr. Jeff Lavell. She said he used the Gonstead chiropractic method. I researched the Gonstead method and scheduled an appointment. After two adjustments, I was pain free! I can't thank these guys enough. Living in chronic pain is not living at all. Oh -- Jeff and John also fixed my frozen shoulder.

2 years ago Experiencia fantástica: We have been clients here for quite a few years. Dr.Jeff seems to know just how to "FIX" me. He does wonders for my husband. The physical therapist John has me walking without any aid after I fractured my hip. He does this without causing more pain.

3 years ago Experiencia fantástica: Wonderful people work here. I was starting to think my chronic pain (20+ years) was a life sentence. Not the case! They do a great job listening to your needs and accommodating to give the best experience possible. I noticed significant improvements after my first appointment. They also aren’t trying to shake you down. Their main goal is to help you heal. Plenty of payment plan options.

4 years ago Experiencia fantástica: I have been going to Dr Jeff Lavelle for over 20 years. Prior to going to Specific Chiropractors. I wasn't able to go 3 weeks without pain. Dr Jeff is the first Chiropractor who has given me weeks between visits. The only reason it isn't longer is my fault. I don't get enough exercise and stretching. So I'm not playing my part. They have a wide range of services to mitigate pain and help one get back to feeling good. I also like to get massages there. Dr Jeff is well educated in functional medicine and uses supplements to assist the body in healing itself. He is constantly researching various products as to their uses and effectiveness. When he makes a suggetion I know it's because it has been proven to work. I often use his suggestions along with my prescribed medication. I find Specific Health and the people there particularly caring, knowledgeable and interested in my wellbeing. I tried various Chiropractorsiver the years. But my searching stopped after finding Specific Health. I think they are fabulous.
