I had been recommended to get a DEXA scan by a friend in my weigh-in group. My experience was excellent. Tanya walked me through all the tests as we went, step by step. When we were done with everything, we sat down and she explained all of my results in detail and answered all of my questions. This was a very illuminating experience. I have a much better sense of how to exercise more effectively and also where I need to improve my body composition for optimal health benefits.

They offer bundles for services too, so you can save a bit of money if you do more than one thing. I have also never had trouble finding a parking space, so that's a big plus!

I left with a better understanding of my baseline body comp and metabolic rate. The RMR turned out (sadly) to be significantly lower than the numbers I obtained using online RMR calculators. Testing is definitely the way to go if you are serious about health and fitness.

I would recommend going at least once per year and getting the entire package - the more you know your own health data, the more you can optimize your fitness and improve your longevity and long-term health. My bone density has gone up 7.5% in three years thanks, in part, to CompID tests and their guidance (and also consistent resistance training)! She comes across as a friendly, stylish and easy going global citizen. The whole operation is 1 room with "functional stations" (scanner bed is behind a basket wall) and one office room with door for tests that require rest or intentional relaxation. The consult happens on the reception couch about 7ft left from the front door. This gem of health understanding I discovered by accident in research on ways to improve health or longevity exercises. The place was visited, during my time, by other customers already considered very "fit", however they had to start somewhere too, right? Health is a journey, not a destination. After understanding the health data you obtain about yourself, I would STRONGLY encourage those with health goals to make this part of your key tools. You'll have a way statistically measure your progress. For those that are serious, you want to know what your body is made of and how it uses energy so you can more smartly measure what you "burn". You do know those general exercise machines or tracking apps are guessing until you input your body's >actual< burn rates, right? There are other locations to suit your distance needs and as a tip, check your insurance as some of the tests are covered by insurance or FSA. Didn't hear that from Ivana just found that in research so do your own but check out Composition ID on your health journey I think far more people should access.

When I returned about six months later for a follow-up DEXA scan, I was happy to see that the nutrition coaching Audrey gave me had paid off.

She was ready to go when I got there, explained the test, and coached me through it. After I was done she sat down with me and explained the results. She was courteous and professional. I will definitely return to see if my results improve at the end of my training season. A couple of notes: 1) Leave time to find parking nearby; 2) Weigh yourself prior to going (it might we worth it for Composition to have a simple bathroom scale on hand to do a last minute weigh in).
