Experiencia fantástica: I have seen dozens of doctors in the past 2 years, only to have blood draw and tests then referred to another doctor. Dr. Salinas listened to all my issues. Spoke to each issue in a discussion with me so we both understood what has been happening . He showed me how they were going to root out the problem and deal with each one to help me return to a healthy active life.

Experiencia negativa: I have never had a negative checkup. Now apparently everything is wrong with me but the only way that I can get any treatment is if I agree to pay 12k. So my health is being held for ransom. Dr. Torres is real quick to tell you that your health is at a dangerous level but could care less about your actual health. He wouldn’t give me any details or discuss any kind of treatment what so ever. Pay 12k or go away program. They had me come in for 5 different appointments and I still literally have no clue what is wrong or what I get for my 12k. In my opinion I was being scammed right out of the gate. I will update if I can because I’m going to go see a real Dr.

Experiencia negativa: I originally went to this office with hopes they could figure out what was going on with me and help me achieve better overall health. I did not experience that. They did blood work and then put me on one of their already made plans. It started with a lemon drink fast that did nothing. Then you have to use their supplements(that some were frankly so disgusting I could not down them). They basically put me on an elimination diet that was not helpful and had me do physical therapy that just exasperated my already damaged back. The therapist had no clue how to tailor exercises to my specific issues. After spending thousands and feeling frustrated and hopeless I quit this program. I can't believe I wasted so much money.

He was extremely apologetic, validating, and he laid out a plan on how we'll get things moving in the very short term. TL;DR at bottom of post. First, I’d like to commend The Institute for Functional Health for being a valuable resource for day-to-day health needs. The Institute truly serves as a one-stop-shop for MAINTAINING health. I attended several workouts and was impressed with the trainers and equipment. It’s a fantastic place to get motivated about health. I also utilized their chiropractic services regularly, and Jacee Wells, my chiropractor, was fantastic! I believe she’s now leading a newer team at the Institute—congratulations, Jacee! Recently, I saw Nurse Practitioner Arturo Rangel, and I had a positive in-person experience. I never met Dr. Jacob Torres, Dr. Linda Esquivel, or Dr. Eric John Salinas, so I can’t comment on their care styles. However, NP Rangel diagnosed me with a hernia after I expressed concerns about discomfort south of my sternum. He ordered a CAT scan. My visit was on September 9th, with the CAT scan scheduled for September 11th. Attempt #1: It was my first time navigating pre-approval for a CAT scan with STRIC (where Arturo sent the order). I was told to confirm approval the morning of the scan, but my insurance hadn’t approved it yet and required more information from my doctor. I rescheduled for the following week to allow time for approval. Attempt #2: The day before my second attempt, I checked again and found it still hadn’t been granted. My insurance indicated they were waiting on information from my doctor. Assuming this was the standard complexities of American healthcare, I rescheduled the scan for September 16th. Attempt #3: By this point, I was in regular contact with STRIC, my insurance, and the Institute. STRIC provided a direct line for quicker updates and I learned about potential “peer-to-peer” reviews needed for approval. I relayed this to the Institute’s front desk, who assured me they’d follow up. Meanwhile, I was growing increasingly anxious about my symptoms and rescheduled my scan for the next week. Attempt #4: I noticed differing attitudes among representatives. Insurance and the Institute front desk often sounded annoyed, while STRIC staff were friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, I couldn’t speak directly to Arturo. The front desk didn’t inspire confidence regarding my concerns, adding to my frustration. I was met with repeated phrases of “there’s not much we can do.” I felt let down by the Institute’s communication and the dismissive tone from staff. Attempt #5: After three weeks since my diagnosis, I reached out to my insurance, who informed me that non-approval was likely due to the first order’s date, and they would need a new one. I contacted the Institute for a new order, only to receive one that incorrectly listed the scan area as "lower abdomen / pelvis." My frustration escalated, compounded by ongoing tightness and pain. Uncharacteristically angry, I expressed my concerns, feeling powerless. Attempt #6: I was informed that the corrected scan order was sent, and was assured that Arturo would follow up. I remain hopeful for the peer-to-peer review now, but doubt it will happen before October 9th, marking one full month of waiting. TLDR: While the Institute for Functional Health offers excellent services, my experience over the last three and a half weeks has been disappointing in terms of communication and responsiveness. I genuinely don’t want to undermine the services the Institute provides. My in-person experiences were always positive, but I am concerned about communication styles, the front desk's apathetic attitude, and the lack of useful information from doctors outside of visits.

After some lab work and consultation, they had a plan for me to start this journey and explained how we would tackle this process. Eric Salinas was extremely knowledgeable as was the rest of the team led by Dr. Torres. I am excited to get started and see results knowing that Eric Salinas is there to back me up with any questions I may have during this journey.

Experiencia positiva: Zero star review. I had my initial consultation approximately three weeks ago and was hopeful it might be a good fit. I sent in my labs as they requested two weeks ago. First they claimed they didn’t get them, so I resent them a day later. Due to the fact that they stated they need at least a week before the consultation where a plan and prices are discussed, I called them over 3-4 times to check that they were being reviewed so that I could hurry and get my orders so I could take care of it. They waited until the absolute last minute to say they had been done and sent to the lab next door without ever asking where I wanted them sent. They never told me that and I told them I would rather go somewhere close to my house. They assured me they would be faxed to my preferred lab yesterday. I even called before my lab appointment this morning to make sure they were requesting a particular test because I was heading to my appointment. I was assured it was. Well, surprise, surprise. They didn’t have the orders for me. I had to call and hear thirty minutes of excuses about a new team being the reason for their mistakes. After being on hold and not getting answers, I finally hung up. The woman who answered said she had to go to a meeting but she would hand the call over to someone else to get answers but that person never even came back on the phone. Talk about unprofessional. Over an hour later, no one has even called back. This isn’t a case of someone being a Karen and making a stink about something that happened once, or not being called back after one attempt. I have called that place numerous times to make sure things would get done so I could do my part. The lack of care, professionalism, and common sense is astounding. I’m fully convinced these reviews were written by their friends and relatives because I know I can’t be the only one who’s had such a frustrating experience with them. Maybe they need to stop paying for advertising and start paying for proper training on how to treat patients, especially new ones they are trying to convince to use their program. Update: Dr. Torres himself called the day after and apologized for the experience I’ve had thus far. I think it says a lot about a person when they take accountability for their business. I may consider moving forward with hearing their plan based on this conversation and have revised my 1 star to a 3 star review for now.

Experiencia negativa: So far not a good impression. They advertise a whole lot but clearly can't see people timely so I don't know why they keep advertising for new clients.. I waited 20 minutes past my initial appointment time just to be asked some questions and sent next door for bloodwork now I have to wait more than a month to find out the results and see anyone again because they have no open appointments. Ridiculous way to run a business and treat new patients. Their advertisements are so misleading they are a joke.

Experiencia fantástica: I am very pleased with this clinic. It is rare for me to voluntarily go to the doctor but I have been coming here regularly for a few months now. They really want to help you live well so they encourage you to alter your lifestyle rather than just prescribe medicine for your issues. However, I have also never had to fight to get treatment with them. If I choose to go with medication, they accept my decision and prescribe the best treatment they can to fix my problem. It’s a nice change from my past medical experiences!

Experiencia fantástica: When I started working out at IFFH, I wasn’t in great shape. I’ve had several back surgeries and have struggled with pain. The fitness staff is AMAZING!! I’ve made so much progress the last 4 months and I feel strong. Moving my body consistently and strength training has really helped with my pain. The team has adjusted workouts to accommodate my injuries, even taped me up when needed. They are focused on getting everyone’s bodies moving within your own abilities and adjust workout for everyone accordingly. The workout times are convenient making it easy to fit into your schedule. Not only am I getting strong and healthy but the team makes it fun and encourages you throughout.

Experiencia negativa: i came to this doctor after hearing all the great things about him on the radio, including stopping pain for folks. i came in with chronic, severe leg pain. (i see a pain doctor.) when dr. torres was going to tell me what was in my blood test results, he said in a quiet, serious voice, "are you ready for this?" i said, "oh God, is it that bad?" they found nothing wrong with me in the blood test. that was the only time i saw dr. torres. i saw another doctor who they called "dr. brad." after coming to see this doctor every week and asking him if the diet they put me on would help my leg pain, he finally told me the truth and said, "no" after constantly telling me yes. all they do is give you a diet and exercises to follow. dr. torres is a chiropractor.

Experiencia fantástica: This place answered my prayers. I was struggling with high blood pressure/hypertension for 2 years even with meds. Couldn’t understand why. I heard about this institute on commercial radio and immediately signed up. I lost 15 pounds in less than a month with their program and got my blood pressure back to normal. Also got off the meds. I can’t thank them enough for getting my life back to normal. It feels great. Still got some ways to go but enjoying the ride along the way.

Imagine having a PCP, physical therapist, chiropractor, nutritionist, and even a medspa all under one roof! (And that's probably just the tip of the iceberg.) They prioritize exercise, nutrition, and getting you back to feeling your best, which is exactly what I craved.

I was concerned that my special needs daughter was not able to do the exercises, and was reluctant to change what she was eating, but he assured me that what I was doing was fine, and to approach it slowly with her. In my case there is not fixing what is wrong just delaying a chronic inherited problem. She is gentle and would offer heating pads and stretching if I would have it. I am a very big man and she manipulates my spine and neck expertly. I appreciate the fact she does not spend a lot of time with small talk. She gets the job done for me and my pain and discomfort are eliminated for several weeks.

I am so fortunate to have Dr. Torres, be there for me at every turn and literally have an answer where many of my specialist just gave up. Where Dr. Torres gets his energy from is beyond me. His availability is great and very responsive to my needs. My current program is still on going. He has already developed yet another change for me to take my health to a higher level. Quite frankly, I wasn’t comfortable at the initial cost. Now that I look back, it has been worth far more than what I have paid. If you think you have gone as far as you have with your current health care providers, and with no answer to your problems, call and make an appoint with this excellent institution as soon as you can. You won’t be disappointed.

Each time they promised to get it to me by the end of the day and apologized for the previous inability to send it to me. I still have yet to get the documentation I have asked for. It’s clear they do t care for their patients they way the my claim to. Very disappointed with Dr Torres and his staff

Experiencia fantástica: I'm so happy I took a chance on IFFH! I was nervous when I first started but I have zero regrets! My experience has been nothing but positive with all the services and staff. Everyone is kind and attentive, and I've finally found a place where I feel heard and can work toward feeling better. Dr. Torres has assembled an amazing healthcare team. I want to mention the fitness classes because for me they are the unexpected icing on the cake. I started going to the fitness classes about a year ago and it was the best decision. I'd worked out previously by myself or in other group environments and nothing compares to the fitness classes at IFFH. I've never experienced anything like it before. The environment is positive, encouraging, and uplifting, and I always feel better when I leave, both physically and mentally. All of the trainers are knowledgeable and will make modifications for skill levels and accommodations for injuries, and I've had a few to work through. So I can say from experience, from my experiences with injuries before coming to IFFH and after, these people are the best at not only helping you to continue working out while healing, but also rehabbing injuries. All my doubts and preconceived ideas going into the workouts at the beginning have been blown away. I'm getting stronger and doing so safely. I love that the fitness is integrated with the clinic so that any health issues are known and can be taken into consideration. It truly is a holistic approach from all sides and it makes a difference! My two cents, if you're on the fence, just do it. Keep an open mind and it doesn't matter where you are, whether you've never lifted a weight in your life or you've worked out for years. Shout out to Martin, Victor, Giselle, y'all rock and are some of the best humans I know!! Thank you for helping me to keep doing what I love!

For one? this establishment doesn’t feel like a traditional doctors office which I appreciate because doctors offices tend to make me nervous and the wait time is long . I would suggest beautiful pictures in the exam rooms though. I like the get in a get out because time is of the essence. I love the fact that they listen and get what you need like in my case labs and a referral . In the last I had a great experience when my spouse and I went through the program that helped us get our bodies healthier . Today I met my new nurse practitioner , she was good. I always appreciate medical practitioners who listen to their patients and offer to help and so I’m looking forward to the IFH being that place for my health care needs ! Walking to the front desk feeling anxious for my follow up with Dr Torres as Dr Wells assured me they would get to the cause of my troubles. I’m feeling a bit let down in finding the first available appointment for getting the ball rolling is a month away. I am following through anyway, and not passing judgement at this point, because I’ve heard so many good things about Dr Torres and crew. Follow up supplement to previous review: I was happy to receive a phone call from IFFH informing me that Dr. Torres had made arrangements to see me much sooner than originally planned. Had my visit with Dr. Torres today and was impressed with his thorough explanation of my lab findings. Everything he explained to me makes perfect sense and I’m anxious to begin following his plan. I am participating in their wellness program and I love the attention they give to making sure I understand the process and the constant encouragement they give. The trainers listen and work with your abilities and strive to help you in meeting your goals. Again, super encouraging group! I’ve had many gym memberships before but nothing has come close to comparing to the care and attention that you get here. Plus, this is the first time I have joined a wellness program that is actually working for me! I am so encouraged and excited to keep moving forward and the staff at this facility are a huge contributor to my positive, can do attitude!

Bedside manners were a big plus for me and it helps during the healing process for sure, considering my previous bad experiences with other doctors.

Experiencia positiva: I've had mixed experiences with this place. On the one hand, the doctors are excellent and very responsive with the adjustments. On the other hand, I've not been very impressed with the front desk staff. They call you to schedule your appointments when you're not on a subscription plan, but as soon as you sign up they stop doing so and do not offer any refunds or reschedules if you don't use all of your appointments.
