Experiencia positiva: I was a basic member first. Until one day I park into one of the management parking spots about 2 years ago. I was brand new and some guy came YELLING AT ME and said "Didn't you see that it says management?" I was like "What the heck?" Then he asked me "Are you a member?" I said "YES". I moved out of that spot, Your parking lot is not too big. Kinda tight. But I don't think that's the way to be talking to the customers. Never complained about it. Another ocassion somebody behind me walked in the gym, and I was called very RUDE by some girl. And I threatened with canceling my subscription. I don't need to sneaked people inside your gym. And if from the very beginning you give people some paper with the rules so that they can remember and keep it in mind that it would be better. Later I upgraded to VIP and was bringing my girlfriend until some guy tried to talk to her and we had a problem. I even complained to the counter. But nothing was done about it. The only thing I heard "Ohh he has been coming here for 15 years". I had been travel across the US and everytime I was in NJ I was visiting this gym. I canceled my subscription and after becoming a member for less than a month I upgraded to VIP again. I would give you 4 stars only because I like your gym. But conditioned to future reviews.

Experiencia fantástica: Just Talking on the phone with Jennifer made me want to go to this gym. Over a yr or so, I've been in an depressant stage and I looked and called places but didn't feel comfortable enough to gym. Their approach abt explaining things was so off and understandable. Talking to Jennifer I felt at eased and good abt joining. Being a single parent, going thru things and feeling insecure she really made me feel good. Haven't started yet but I'm on my own. Will try to update journey

They do $20 day passes, though not advertised + Lots of free weights and machines with plates Enough squat racks Sauna in locker rooms Fair number of cardio machines too Clean: reasonably free of dust and clean locker rooms too (much cleaner than your NY Sports Club or 24 hr fitness or LA fitness or planet fitness) Courteous front desk staff and trainers working with clients in gym Easy to get to from EWR in less than 10 mins by bus, taxi, or rideshare - Some machines in disrepair and in need of maintenance eg broken buttons on treadmills, which are generally fairly old (~20 yrs) and aren't calibrated very well (on one I got on 4% incline was actually 0%; 0% was actually -3.5%)

Experiencia positiva: Other than a lot of skinny guys taking their shirts off during their workout (‍♂️‍♂️) it’s a Great atmosphere, knowledgeable & friendly staff, first rate equipment, variety, clean, plenty of space, competitive rates. Highly recommended. Training with your shirt off under 170 lbs, not recommended. Nobody cares.

Experiencia negativa: Let me start from when you when in the door, people behind the counter most of the time occupied on gossip or other nonsenses than actually greet the members. I am not going to say all them are like that but for the most part 8 out of 10 you wont even get a straight face from them, they act like they are doing you favor. The machines are decent for the most part although as in most gym weight are all over the place, however in this gym the stuff doesnt really worry about put them back in place. I critique that aspect because I actually go to Union and Elizabeth often and in this gym that does not happen, at least all the occasions I been there which is quit a lot. Music is always too loud in the afternoon, I have complained but no one does anything about it, I have to listen to my music with the volume all the way up on my earphones. The worst part of all are the freelance “trainers”, too many of them and there couple that are very/extremely loud, people that goes to this gym knows who I am talking about. Not only too load but also talk behind other members back criticizing their workout or straight being disrespectful. Sometimes I rather drive farther to Union then coming to this gym

Experiencia negativa: Not the cleanliest place. The woman’s bathroom smells like straight up pee! However the Zumba instructor is hard working yesterday only two people showed up for class and she asked for permission to keep it going! The staff has all been friendly and helpful they have a good fitness community. I just don’t really think anyone bothers to fully clean up or renovate the place! I have memberships at other gyms and only come here for work days since it’s close to my job however if I had a different choice of a cleaner place nearby I would deff take it!

He didnt bother to even apologizing after explaining my frustration. I am never coming back. I suggest anyone whos thinking about opening a membership here to think again. Save your money, theirs better Gyms out there that actually value their customers unlike this one and have way more options. The machines never work, the classes are always cancelled. Theyre so quick to bill people but cant help NO ONE. worst experience ever. I had to contact the corporate company to get this resolved because Wenser the manager didnt have the decency to even try. If this club cared about their customers I wouldn't be writing this review. Someone wants to reply to my review but cant have the decency to reach out to me to try and fix my issue. Its so unprofessional that i have to keep writing because someone behind this screen doesn't want to help me. I lost my job due to the pandemic and this is the only gym still billing people. No one ever called, texted, emailed not even a single paper letter in the mail stating they were still billing people. Im not asking anything for free but if my account is already in collections from January why am i still getting billed for September OCTOBER . I need to dispute these charges and the manager that he supposedly the owner says he cant do nothing but he was the one filed first? Every other company has offered extensions, waivers, credits, lower premium and when i call to get an extension they cant offer anything? Not only were they closed for a couple months the least they can do is try to accommodate customers who were affected by the pandemic. Like i said these people dont care about you. Im so angry i cant even go to another gym cause i apparently i have to stay at this one . i dont even live in Newark i never authorized the transfer either . Save your time money , coming here is NOT WORTH IT

Experiencia negativa: Poor customer services. I cancelled my membership 2 years ago because i moved. Now I just received a letter from a collection agency saying that I own money to the club. I called several times to club and it seems the manager is always busy. Now they just not answering me or avoiding me and my credit is ruined! I will not recommend this location.

Experiencia negativa: Waw 100% I didn't recommend any one for this place too small ,expansive I already give them one month notice to cancel even I didn't visit it like four month a go and after 3 month of my cancellation they charging me and give me hard time for my refund.

Experiencia negativa: I wanted to join this gym after moving to Newark, but I hate that they wanted to charge me $25 processing fees and other fake upfront fees,.. The thing that bothered me was the made up fees of $25 processing fees... What exactly are they processing that requires that much fees? Don't scam people with bogus fees, then tie them in a one year membership.

Experiencia negativa: I ordered a scoop of pre-workout for $3 a scoop and $2 for each additional scoop. I was not able to see the staff member put what I was told was a scoop in the cup and when I received it, the staff member also put water in my cup. I did not ask for water to be put in my cup and that left me with the impression of staff members who may or may not be dishonest. My membership is paid in full for the year and as a new client/customer of Club Metro, I have visited a few different locations. The Newark location is awesome however, this experience (9-4-17) made me feel uncomfortable and deceived. I have purchased pre-workout at another location and they charge a flat rate - $2 per scoop. I would suggest that staff members sell the pre-workout to customers and allow the customer to see what they are receiving and to request water, if they so desire. The decision to put water in the cup should be left to the customer.

Experiencia fantástica: I missed my gym so much!! I went back for the first time ( my job re-located) in a good minute and it felt good (I was there a month ago but only for the sauna). The helpful, easy going staff , the abundance of equipment, the air, the dance room, and now there so much more room in the main weight room because they moved? the spin room (it's gone). And, I didn't have my music but they have music pumping (except dance room). My complaint is that there is only one water fountain. And my shower was great! It can get very crowded though. I wish it was closer to my job....
