Caring Health Center (CHC) is one of the premier health centers in Western Massachusetts, and for 25 years it has served as an essential source of health care for residents of Springfield and surrounding areas. Our mission is to eliminate health disparities and achieve health equity through providing accessible, value-driven healthcare for diverse, multi-ethnic communities in Western Massachusetts.

Caring Health Center (CHC) has collaborated on federally-funded research projects for over two decades. Since 2007, CHC has sustained an on-site, staffed research department and has completed two National Institute of Health-R01 studies. Based on its history, CHC’s research department and collaborators have expertise in mixed method, interdisciplinary and practice-based approaches to community-responsive research. Chief Research & Population Health Officer, Dr. Cristina Huebner Torres, emphasized that, “key aims of the RPH department’s work are to address individual and systems-level factors to reduce health disparities and to ensure the delivery of culturally and linguistically appropriate services.”

CHC’s Wellness Center offers group-based physical activity classes, nutrition education, cooking demonstrations, chronic disease prevention and management education, stress-reduction classes, shared medical appointments (SMA), worksite wellness programming, and other classes. Wellness Center programming aims to support our patients’ capacity to follow primary care treatment plans and recommendations for increased physical activity, dietary improvements, and self-care practices. Due to COVID-19, all in-person classes have been canceled. To help you and your family stay healthy, our Wellness Center will be offering online virtual classes.

According to the American Hospital Association (AHA), losses to America’s hospitals and health systems averaged about $50.7 billion per month in 2020. This was due in part to increased costs of PPE, financial support given to workers, and cancelled or forgone patient services caused by COVID-19. At Caring Health Center, the situation mirrored the financial effects felt all over the nation. Simply put, many patients chose to forego provider visits, health screenings, testing and even in some cases essential medical visits for fear of contracting COVID-19 in a healthcare setting. Dr. Jonathan Moseley, CHC Chief Medical Officer states “Our increasing fear as providers is that delay of care is as serious or, in some cases, more dangerous than the risks of COVID-19.”

Experiencia negativa: It is sooooo hard to book an appointment! You’ll be on hold for 30 plus minutes and recording will still say your estimated wait time 12 minutes repeatedly. Trying book an appointment for my daughter.

Experiencia fantástica: Today I went into the health center with a serious dental problem. For almost a week I was trying to see the dentist who originally did the work on my teeth but was unable to get a good appointment. But today I just went in and asked for the person in charge and he came out and he help set up a appointment for me today at 11:00am. I came back at 10:30 and they called me at 10:35. I had Dr. K and her assistant Lilly and they did a wonderful job. Thank you ladies. Dr.K repaired a serious cavity hole in my tooth and was able save my tooth for a couple more years. (I'm 65) My mouth feels so much better. Thanks Caring Health Center for all your help. Special thanks to Mr. Jessie Ferguson and Supervisor Joe.

Experiencia positiva: The behavioral health side has been nothing but amazing. Very helpful. However the health care side has been not so good. They don't respond to appointment requests and if you call they barely answer the phone. This is people's health and should take a little more consideration.

Experiencia negativa: The most terrible front desk people/ scheduling I have ever come across. I can never reach them I’m on hold for hours ! They hang up on my face and the one time I actually got a hold of them the man said he had scheduled an appointment but after going on that exact date they told me there was no appointment scheduled . You guys are ridiculous ! Next time don’t hire people that don’t know what they are doing and get a better answering system . This is ALWAYS an issue with you people .

Experiencia negativa: De verdad es la peor clínica que existe. Nunca tienen cita disponible para ir a ver al médico. Osea pides cita y te la dan para 6 meses después literal. Llevo desde septiembre esperando un referido para un podiatra para mi niño que tiene unos uñeros que no se le curan y hasta el sol de hoy enero 2024 no hay echo nada y llamo todos los días y se pasan las llamadas como papa caliente.

Experiencia negativa: Shouldn't be considered as a Primary Care office, alot of things get dropped and communication isn't their best attribute. But I would say they would make a great Extensive Urgent Care. Shouldn't be your Primary source for medical help.

Experiencia negativa: La peor experiencia la tuve en ese lugar con mi mamá, se Atiende alla y le hicieron un referido al dentista , el 12-12-23 tenía una cita y el dentista le encontró la presión muy alta y como su doctora de cabecera se encuentra ahí mismo, me dio un papel para que fuera al segundo piso, cuando voy me dicen que es al primero cuando voy me dicen que vaya al lado de récord y toque el botón para que alguien salga y nos atiendan, después de como 10 minutos sale alguien y le explico, me dice que se tarda de 6 a 7 día le digo waoo tanto si tiene alta presión y le digo entonces podemos irnos y dice que si, cuando estaba llegando casi a casa llama que mi mamá tenía que firmar el papel ,me devuelvo y entro y deje mi mamá en el carro porque no se sentía bien, le pregunto que si puedo llevarle el papel a mi mamá al carro para que lo firme y me dice que es protocolo le dije que mi mamá no estaba bien que si ella no podía ir de rápido para que mi mamá no tenga que salir por el estado que se encuentra, me dice que no,le digo pues deja ver si puede entrar y voy le digo a mi mamá que agas un esfuerzo mi mamá fue conmigo y mi mamá firmó y no se encontraba bien tenía hasta la manos temblorosas y ella dice Que mi mamá era que tenia Que poner la fecha también, mi mamá no podía ni hacer los números y yo le hice los últimos 2 de la fecha y la Que nos atendio se molestó y fue muy grosera y tuvimos una pequeña discusión, porque me perece que una señora de 81 años que se sentia tan mal tuviera que volver a firmar ese papel cuando estuvo antes en ese lugar, la chica me pareció muy poco profesional y altanera.

Experiencia negativa: CHC has never been that great. They've gotten worse over the years. Near impossible to get call backs, connecting to an actual human being takes too long, and their automated line should have all the long winded nonsense about operating hours and what phones numbers you need to call to reach their pharmacy hidden behind a press 8. Won't even get my BC from here because they literally have you doing extra steps like going to your own pharmacy (not theirs, their pharmacy will not provide a BC perscription for their own doctors to administer to patients). They have an entire lab, that isn't even theirs :( The whole place is just a corner cutting nightmare designed specifically to save them pennies and to operate at base level function and nothing more.

Experiencia negativa: I been enrolled to Caring Health on Main St, for the past 10 months now and they really like to change your appointment without notice. You will get a text for your appointment to arrive 15 minutes early for 11am appointment, when you arrive you will get another text for your appointment for 11:20am appointment. This is not ok people do have a time frame to fit their schedule. They also like to talk about your problem one issue at a time and then to set up another appointment to talk about your other problems 2 months later.

Experiencia fantástica: I recently visited the Caring Health Center Pharmacy, and I must say, it was an amazing experience. I was in need of a specific prescription, and the staff went above and beyond to ensure that I received it promptly. From the moment I entered the pharmacy, the staff greeted me with a smile and were extremely helpful in answering any questions I had. They took the time to explain the medication and even gave me some helpful tips on how to manage my symptoms. What really stood out to me, however, was the exceptional level of service provided by the staff. They were patient, friendly, and attentive throughout my visit, which made me feel valued as a customer. Overall, I would highly recommend the Caring Health Center Pharmacy to anyone in need of a reliable and trustworthy pharmacy. The staff are exceptional, and the service is top-notch. I will definitely be returning for all of my future pharmaceutical needs.

Experiencia negativa: Went to caring health center in Springfield multiple times with the same issue and the doctors always tried telling me I had anxiety, finally on my last appointment a couple days ago the doctor found out I have h pylori “Bacteria in the stomach” just keep that in mind next time a doctor says you have anxiety they might just not wanna do their job And anxiety is their first go to excuse.

Experiencia negativa: I've been trying to make an appointment for my dad to be seen at the Caring Health Center for the past week. The receptionist keeps telling me that they are busy with other calls or they transfer me to an ext. so I can leave a voicemail. But I never get a call back. My dad recently moved here from PA and has run out of his meds, but he needs to be seen in order to get all his meds. Like come on, now! He's been here for 4 months and all they do is give us the go- around! Please be for real! You're telling me that you'd rather let a 76 year old man die without his meds and treatment instead of seeing him ASAP? You have got to do better!

Experiencia negativa: IF IT WAS POSSIBLE I WOULD GIVE ZERO STARS IN THIS REVIEW AFTER WHAT HAPPENED THIS MORNING! It usually takes a lot for me to ever get mad or come out of character, but this morning I came close to snatching security's face for disrespecting me as well as a nurse receptionist. I walked out crying and screaming not able to get my tooth fixed. I had to reschedule at the Sumner Avenue location instead. IM SO TIRED of men thinkin its ok to disrespect me and then when I flip out, I'm crazy! No! Not this time! Caring Health Center, Inc. just lost a patient. They always ask you for a survey on what they could do better. They even ask you what can they do better when you file a complaint and each time you tell them, they don't improve at ALL! It gets even more worse then the last! After my teeth is fixed, I'm removing all of my records and finding a whole new doctor. Its not fair to my primary care physician because I know he is a great doctor and I love him and he is located at the Boston Road location, but as much as I do love my primary, my sanity and respect is worth so much more! I wish Brian Beauvais would leave Caring Health Center and open up his own practice because he is too good for this sorry excuse of a medical place. I want no parts of their brand period based on the way they are nonchalant and disrespectful to patients. ESPECIALLY THE SECUIRTY GUARD AT THE MAIN STREET LOCATION! I STILL WANNA SNATCH HIS FACE, but you know what it's okay! Karma will get him! I WOULDN'T EVEN BRING MY FUTURE ADOPTIVE CHILDREN HERE!

Experiencia positiva: I walked in on Saturday and was directed to the upstairs area to be seen... the place was as empty as empty can be. (Unless there is another entrance or something I'm unaware of.) I waited for roughly 20 minutes till the person who told me to go upstairs approached me and said it'll be at least a 2 hour wait... I left. Also security guard seemed like he didn't want to be bothered. My first time having to come here so asking questions felt like an unwelcomed nuisance... being pleasant is not difficult... can be the difference between people returning or not. Update: I was called to come back which was unexpected and I highly appreciated.

Experiencia negativa: Disgusting staff, it's unfathomable that when you call them they're angry at you for calling them. I returned a call and politely asked where or who I should be talking to and this woman goes "ugh whatever" and hangs up on me. What on earth. And if I get a response from the company that says sorry call us back that's a sick joke. That's what I did and was treated like dirt. Sickening.

Or look like they are there for a paycheck horrible place to go. On top a 2hr wait on the phone to speak to someone?? Really?? You will die before anyone gets to the phone.

Experiencia negativa: I had a tooth removed on August 5 the doctor said come back in 2 weeks to do impression for dentures.very happy with his work. But when I went to front desk and spoke to Cadence she said the doctor wants me back in 5 weeks.she make an appointment for September 13..so I have no front teeth for over 5 weeks..I guess it a lot easier for her to find a open appointment 5 weeks later

Summer ave front desk lady said ur appointment is not here it’s on Main Street again and send us back saying she is not here.it’s already late and we missed the appointment later doctors call us saying she is in summer ave waiting for us.then why front lady send us back ? I tell her Main Street front desk send us here but she didn’t listen us or what idk ,she just say not here .it’s waste of time and they make us run and waste our parking fee.super mad they don’t have good service.And why they didn’t even inform us before coming to my mum appointment that doctor is in summers ave not in Main Street. When they call us to conform the appointment why the hack they didn’t inform us and make us run to one caring to another?

Experiencia negativa: The USCIS listed Caring Health Centre as one of the centres to do a medical examination. I called the centre this morning (June 21) at 9:30 am to seek an appointment and ended up speaking with a front office personnel who bemoaned me for not knowing how things work at the centre. When I informed her that the doctor I was trying to get hold of is listed on the US official website, she started losing her patience and in a rash manner hung up on me. I expected a certain level of civility from a staff working at a health care centre who goes by the adjective "caring."

I have seen top management about my very negative concerns. Was told by upper management that the issues would be address since my last review. They haven't been addressed. Things are worse. It see they play a game to get you to go somewhere else. I am a quality manager in the manufacturing aero space industry. Have gotten many awards for quality and delivery. They have no quality at this organization everyone should stay away from this place. I have had Bay State Health tell me to stay away from this place. Think about it. Your health is important.

Experiencia negativa: No idea what this place was or why I was getting phone calls from them, until I finally dialed the number back & learned it is some sort of low-income medical/dental practice on Main Street Springfield? Maybe Mass Health? In any case, the women who answered phones were dismissive; and my goal was to correct whatever had led them to get my number. It took persistence, but I manged to get through to a clueless woman who I asked why I was receiving these calls, who read my number back to me incorrectly as she saw it come up on their Caller ID, attaching some name that was NOT mine, told her that was neither my name nor my number & to STOP! Then I read several of their reviews; and must say it sounds like a horrible medical/dental practice & that on their Ad box, they list that their VITALS ranking as 3.6, when in reality it is 1.6 which is a VERY low rating, with doctors listed receiving ratings even lower than that! If you are low income or on Mass Health, there must be places you can find that are better--- Maybe Holyoke? Or West Springfield? Just sayin'...

Experiencia negativa: No recomiendo la clínica de la Sumner Ave la clínica dental es un éxito pero la clínica de médicos pésima siempre que sacó cita para mi nene con la pediatra me la cancelan pq ella tiene asma ni tan siquiera me dan cita para otro día termino llevandolo a clínicas de urgencias pero saque cita pq necesitaba un referido y pq últimamente mi hijo se queja de dolor hoy voy a la cita 10:20 como siempre tardan fui temprano 10:50 hago check in pasan las 10:20 10:30 y 10:45 me levanto y le pregunto a la muchacha del counter q pasa que ya no hay nadie y la cita era a las 10:20 y no han llamado al nene me indicó que me hicieron el check in pero no lo sometieron me dice que va hablar con la Dra sale y me dice que ella me puede atender pero más tarde yo le dije que no, que me diera una excusa para el nene en la escuela como que estuvo allí fue a hablar con la Dra y regreso me dijo que ella no podía darme una excusa pq ella no atendió el nene le digo a la muchacha que la excusa es como evidencia que el estuvo allí no que la Dra lo atendió fue hablar otra vez con la Dra y regreso me dijo que me sentará que ella lo iba a atender la muchacha del counter comenzó a comentar con los demás empleados y a mirarme me hicieron sentir mal e incómoda en ningún momento alze la voz ni mucho menos le falte el respeto a nadie creo que estaba en todo mi derecho de levantarme y pedir que me atendieran o al menos que me diera una excusa para el nene como que estuvo allí y no llegó a tiempo a la escuela por puro chiste, pero a las 11 llega otra paciente y la pasan así que me levanté y me iba a ir todos los empleados se me quedaron mirando y entonces el muchacho que me atendió se disculpo conmigo y me dió la excusa que mal rato después todos mirando como si fuera una problematica. No recomiendo la clínica de médicos de la Sumner Ave pésimo servicio juegan con la salud.

Experiencia negativa: Clean facility. Unprofessional, inappropriate employees with horrible phone etiquette. Scheduling is far out even when the necessity is severe they ask you to come in as a "walk in". You'll be expecting to be seen as a walk in but then you get there and they can't fit you in because they have no slots available. Returning a call for results is almost impossible since the medical assistants or nurse are not answering till almost 30 mins before their shift is over and expect you to call back right away within those 30 mins. Beside the unpleasant facility my provider, Lilliya Tereshchuk PA, was really pleasant and helpful but has left then practice :(

Experiencia negativa: I did not like it. First, my pcp did not want to give me a letter of recommendation for wls. She said it was best for me to bring medical records, but because she didn’t know anything about me she couldn’t. Secondly, the place did not look sanitary. Thirdly, the ladies at the front desk on the first floor were rude they did not greeted you they just say how can I help you. The area is too busy such as traffic. Looked ghetto. Worse experience ever. I ended up changing my insurance and went to Holyoke medical center fyi that’s where my records at.
