Fantastic experience: A shift puts the Concierge in Concierge medicine. They are the most patient centered, Caring, and medically sophisticated outfit I have ever encountered in my life. They make their patient feel important and are determined and committed to tailoring their medical care to the unique and idiosyncratic needs, fears, and desires of their patients which they can almost miraculously divine because of their ability to empathically listen. I can’t say enough great things about shift. They are one of a kind, and I am blessed and grateful to be in their care.

Executive physical taught me a lot about my health, and I feel like there is good support to help me follow through on changes I want to make to be as healthy as possible. Fantastic experience: I’m now three years into visiting shift annually and it is really an amazing experience. Shift performs all of the diagnostic testing that some of the other all-day health assessments perform (i.e @ research hospital programs), and they add some unique body composition mapping tests that I have not experienced in other programs. Where they stand out is focusing most of the day on prescribing tweaks to physical activity and nutrition habits with the express intent of achieving life-long health. I am now able to see the results of being mildly conscious of my behaviors and applying their suggestions. It is an amazing experience. I’m fitter, my heart is healthier, my body composition is much improved. I credit them with healing two sports injuries. In short, this is a vastly different and more impactful program than I have experienced elsewhere. I highly recommend trying it once. You’ll go back.

The nutritionist was able to help fill some holes in my diet to help me both lose weight and add to muscle mass. The physical therapist offered a variety of exercises to work through my old injuries and offered some suggestions on how to improve my leg muscles and aerobic capacity. A great day - thanks team!

I’m extremely pleased with the level of healthcare I’ve received from the entire team - lab technician, nutritionist, physical therapist and my doctor. As a 60+ year old woman, my goal is to not just increase my lifespan, but my “healthspan”. Dr. Benjamin and the rest of the team utilize specific blood tests, scans, fitness assessments and nutritional guidance to enable me to understand exactly what I need to do in terms of diet, exercise and lifestyle to achieve my goal of an extended healthspan. I’m so grateful to have a proactive, supportive and responsive GP who is very knowledgeable in the area of women’s health. My personal experience with Shift has been far superior to the impersonal and cursory care I’ve received in the past from other providers.

Fantastic experience: Dr. and staff couldn’t have been better. 15 page summary report not including bloodwork. Pricy, but highly recommended.

Negative experience: SHIFTy – where, in my experience, business comes before health. I paid $5800 for SHIFT with the expectation that I would receive concierge treatment since their website advertises"to make positive, lasting changes in your health and in your life. Our team works together to understand you wholly and completely so that we may create a true partnership based on trust and accountability. . . SHIFT—more than medicine.” I received nothing of the kind:1)When I tried to engage in dialogue with Dr. Benjamin she kept reminding me that she had to “keep me on schedule.” (My "full day" initial evaluation was about four hours, with two 20 minute eating breaks and waiting time of 20 minutes) 2)SHIFT insisted on running tests I had already had at Northwestern 32 days prior. Are there really changes within 32 days?.3)SHIFT had full access to my medical records at Northwestern – why all of the tests were redone was never explained to me. Although the receptionist made a copy of my insurance ID (as they do when you visit your PCP), I had to pay $3200 out of pocket. (yes, it is in the contract but why go through the charades of printing out the insurance ID?!) 4) the nutritional plan looked like something you could buy on the web. Who eats at Panera these days? One of my reasons for reaching out to SHIFT was the results of the prior tests which showed low bone density. I also suffer from spinal stenosis. I made clear in my communications with SHIFT that I wanted to specifically address them. I emphasized in my initial dialogue with Erin, the business manager (?), that I was looking for a #Peter Attia-type experience-personalized, proactive, and providing tailored guidance on all fronts, including diet, exercise, and lifestyle, to help me attain ideal healthspan and maximize longevity. I was told that #Peter Attia has sent patients to SHIFT, which I found encouraging, though in retrospect, I see no indication that Peter Attia's practices inform SHIFT's.In response to my osteopenia diagnosis, Dr. Benjamin (and the nutritionist) insisted that I limit my protein intake to no more than 30 grams per meal. I do not purport to be a medical professional, but I can read scientific research: the 30 grams protein per meal premise has been widely questioned. Many researchers recommend that older adults might benefit from increased protein per meal. I expected – regarding protein consumption – a more specific approach that would consider my lifestyle, my age, and medical history.(Remember my main concern was osteoporosis. I need stronger bones and hence, more muscle mass.) Dr. Benjamin told me during our consultation that she would call me the following day to discuss the results of my blood tests. (Of course, she already had the Northwestern blood test results when she made this promise).Instead, she sent me a cursory email that announced all was fine and that I should take Vitamin D. While her failure to call me as promised may seem inconsequential, I must remind you that I signed a contract and submitted payment for what I was assured would be personalized, proactive treatment. A cursory email that includes an offer for me to call with questions is no part of personalized or proactive. Upon my complaint to Erin (their Business Manager) about this matter, I received a text from Dr. Benjamin the next day, stating that she had a window of time in which to answer my questions. In response to my query about the promise to call that was instead an email, she stated that she would "never call if the test results are normal." This contradicts the so-called "personalized approach" I expected. Moreover, the practice of phoning a patient only when the blood test results are abnormal is akin to the "reactive approach" that Dr. Benjamin had specifically negated when selling me on SHIFT, which dvertises itself as one that creates "an individualized plan that serves as a roadmap for where you ultimately want to go". Yeah, not a great experience. They did not refund the money for the redundant tests.
