Fantastic experience: Always helpful visits for pain relief. I frequent this office most often for a massage, and to get a Vax D treatment from Dr. Chris. I would recommend making an appointment if you are looking for great service and want to reduce pain in your body.

Fantastic experience: I came to Chris with a fairly significant disc herniation in my lumbar spine that was causing pretty significant sciatic pain that I was fairly certain was going to require surgery based on conversations with other chiropractors and PTs. After about 6 weeks of working with Chris and the Vax-D treatment offered at the American Back Center I am now pain free and returning to all activities that this condition kept me from (e.g., Golf). I have in really appreciated the amount of time Chris took in learning about my history of back issues, his attention to detail and then developing specific plans for me to get back into the activities that are important to me. Would recommend the ABC to anyone with similar issues!

Fantastic experience: I can't recommend Dr. Chris and American Back Center enough!! I spent YEARS dealing with back pain and what I knew was herniated discs. Chiro after chiro always told me I don't need an MRI to tell me what we already know...yet their methods and physical therapy never truly stuck and fixed the issue. Enter Dr. Chris; sent me for an MRI and we saw exactly what the issues were and I was a candidate for Vax-D. LIFE CHANGING! I'm not sure if it has anything to do with it, but during the course of treatment I got pregnant for the 4th time and had our first successful pregnancy. I really think finally being aligned and free of pain helped in our success. It's been over a year and I haven't had any back issues *fingers crossed*. I plan on returning for Vax-D maintenance once life with a newborn settles down. Thank you, Dr. Chris!

Fantastic experience: I was a 20 year practicing chiropractor who was a specialist in soft tissue work. I saw Dr Edginton for an awful disc issue (debilitating low back pain with pain down to the foot). I was aware of MacKinzie method during my years of practice but never saw it in practice. If you have a disc issue you need to look into it. I was in significantly better shape in 2 days of some of the prescribed at home exercises and was pain free within 2 weeks (I was sure I was heading for injection therapy or possibly surgery). Dr Chris knows his stuff. I’ve since seen their LMT Nepa. He was fantastic. I’ve hired multiple LMTs myself and can say I would have hired him myself. He’s a big strong guy but realizes the difference between therapeutic massage and abusive massage. As an anatomy nerd I was also impressed with his anatomy knowledge. He followed nerve paths (specifically the lateral and medial intramuscular septums at the tricep) and did some fantastic extremity and spinal work. I’d probably be the harshest critic of another chiropractic clinic so when I say I give this place my stamp approval, trust me.

Positive experience: There was some confusion regarding insurance coding. But Dr. Chris got it resolved immediately.

Fantastic experience: Before going to the American Back Center I was having numbing in my thighs and pulling in the back area. I could not walk 20 minutes in the mall with my teenage children or enjoy certain activities with my Husband and friends. I had about three months of therapy for three days a week with Dr. Chris at first then the session decrease as I started doing the homework(booo. I didn't like it but learned to love it ) he gave me. By the fourth month I WALKED two 5Ks and walk the mall without pain or numbness in my thighs. It’s been a while since I left the above review and I returned to Dr. Chris because now since COVID-19 pandemic started I have been working from home sitting, eating and not staying as active as I should. The pain in my lower back increased but with help from Dr. Chris adjustments and offered massages the pain in my back is gone. I am now in Aqua aerobics and body conditioning classes; i am doing so much better.

Fantastic experience: I went in to see Dr. Edginton after a back issue I've had for years finally culminated in a herniated disc. After seeing multiple doctors and physical therapists over the years who either wrote me off or gave me bad advice I finally found someone who has put me on the path to recovery. I only wish I'd found this place sooner. Dr. Chris took the time to actually explain the source of my pain and how to correct it. Unfortunately at the beginning of our visits I was only a week away from losing my insurance coverage but in that week the staff at American Back Center did everything they possibly could to put me on the right path. I went from being unable to sit, stand, or walk for more than 30 minutes to regaining basic mobility and things are still improving. If back pain has been a consistent problem in your life, and if you've been written off by multiple medical professionals who either shrug their shoulders or write you a prescription for extra strength ibuprofen and send you on your way, do yourself a favor and take the time to check this place out.

Fantastic experience: I had a herniated disc in late March 2020 and I have been extremely happy and impressed by the level of care offered at the American Back Center. From scheduling with the receptionist to working with the chiropractor and the massage therapist, I received excellent, genuine, high-quality care to heal my back. Dr. Chris provides detailed yet easy-to-understand explanations of what was happening in my back and how to recuperate it using various methods including physical therapy exercises, massage therapy, and traditional chiropractic adjustments. The massage therapist Neppa is also incredible and greatly helped me in my recovery process. I felt very cared for, supported, and understood at the American Back Center. Highly recommend!

Dr. Edginton listens to all your health concerns and questions. He is a very knowledgeable holistic health listener and responds to all your health concerns.. His exceptional and individual care of each patient and his/her needs is evident in every visit. He goes beyond the call of duty in the care of his patients. Every single time I have emailed him with a question, concern or problem during my treatments, he is quick to respond. He not only answers my questions but actually follows up in the next visit. All of his staff is professional, respectful and polite. When making appointments, his administrative assistant works with you to tailor the appointments to your needs. I actually live in a Western Suburb in Chicago and travel downtown to Michigan Avenue because Dr. Edginton is a high quality, professional, health professional. I would follow him anywhere because I have had success in improving and healing health issues with him every single time!

Fantastic experience: If I could rate higher than 5 stars, I would! Dr. Chris is extremely good at what he does and he makes you feel comfortable from the minute you arrive at his office. Not only is my back feeling better than ever thanks to Dr. Chris, but the office is in a great location and is open late, making it well suited for those working downtown who want to go afterwork.

Fantastic experience: My job requires lifting on a daily basis, that and a few bicycle accidents had left me with chronic pain. After seeing several chiropractors, massage therapists and physical therapists I had given up. A coworker saw that I was struggling and recommended Dr.Chris and I have been seeing him every since and have had no reason to go elsewhere. He has given me the help, knowledge and awareness of my body on a personal level to feel comfortable at my job and getting back on a bicycle. Dr. chris is great at making you feel relaxed and comfortable for adjustments and does not just do a routine like other chiropractors. He has currently got me to a point where we have focused completely on nutrition, diet and overall health and my pain has become secondary or more of a maintenance approach. I came in with an abundance of information on health, food, exercise and pain management and while that is great to have knowledge Dr. Chris has proven to me time and time again that unless that information benefits me and is useful to my body, it is just information and if used incorrectly can cause harm. I have learned so much from Dr.Chris and appreciate him and the American Back Center staff as a whole and recommend them for back or whole body help.

Fantastic experience: Love this place! I had the best massage ever with their therapist Denise. She really took the time to listen to my areas of concern and provided excellent service. Marlise was so warm and welcoming upon arrival. The location is super convenient and they are totally on top of all the COVID safety precautions so I felt incredibly safe. Dr. Chris is so personable and runs an incredibly professional office. He has the best technology for state of the art chiropractic treatments in the city.

Fantastic experience: I highly recommend American Back Center to anyone who has suffered chronic pain without really knowing the cause nor the approach to take when dealing with it. Dr. Chris made sure to understand my problem through the use of xray, physical examination as well as listening to my "story". He showed patience and genuine compassion. Fantastic experience: Developed a left L5 disc extrusion causing foraminal stenosis, leading to severe pain in my left glute and radiating pain + tingling down the left lower extremity. Also have a moderate spine curvature. I tried PT on three separate occasions to no avail. I was set for microdiscectomy. I read about decompression therapy and decided to contact ABC. Dr. Chris and staff are the best. After about 20+ sessions of Vax-D therapy my symptoms are nearly gone. I am not out of the woods and will need regular maintenance, but I canceled my surgery which is amazing. Highly recommend ABC.

Fantastic experience: I spent much of my younger years with recurring back problems and seeing physicians that might advise a stretch or tell me to take it easy but nothing substantial. Problems kept getting worse with time and just when they got to as bad as they can, I found Dr. Chris and American Back Center. Ever since I've had minimal, if any problems as he and the team came up with a physical therapy regimen that has changed my life. I still got to see Dr. Chris for adjustments and he's been able to help with problems in my wrist and shoulder that have come up with age. Great place - I advise all my friends to go see them.

Fantastic experience: As today I celebrated my "anniversary" and finished 22 sessions on the Vax-D therapy bed, I must say, If you're having a back/neck pain, American Back Center is your place to be !! When I first arrived to ABC, I couldn't move my right upper side of my body. My neck had 0 movement and I was short of breath. That's when I met Dr. Chris (through Rebecca, the director of VAX- D) who put me on a 22 session plan on the Vax-D bed. A 21st century version of the torturing bed :-) .. lol. An accurate way of stretching your body in a very None hurtful nor painful way yet very effective. Thanks to Dr. Chris I can walk, breath and even dance with my kids again. A+, very recommended if needed.

I have had chronic back pain for the past 4-5 years. I have had physiotherapy and seen many doctors, but I could never commit to any treatment because the providers never had a treatment plan, and did not seem to have an end goal. I met Dr. Chris in my office few months before I started the treatment, within 5 minutes of our conversation I saw his passion for the job, his commitment to make everyone feel better fast, and most importantly that I was the center of all the treatment. I have seen a great change within 2 weeks because of his commitment and plan. He took the time to listen to my complaints, explained what I will need to do and why. Fantastic experience: When I first started treatment at American Back Center I could hardly walk into the office. Following an unsuccessful surgery for a herniated disc this was my last resort before considering another surgery. Within 5 months of my first visit with Dr. Chris I am 95% pain free. A course of Vax-D treatments combined with continued exercise has set me on the right path. Dr. Chris is personable, thoughtful, and truly tailors treatments to suit patients' needs. Fantastic experience: A truly enjoyable experience every single time I step into their office. The kindest staff on the planet, from Adriana at the front desk to Stella on the massage table. Dr. Chris is incredibly flexible with last-minute changes and impromptu injuries, and just a genuinely great person. He is excellent at explaining the issue/treatment plan to his audience, regardless of their background, and thoroughly answering all questions. If I had the creative mind to write a poem or song about their awesomeness, I would, but I'll just give them two thumbs up instead!

Fantastic experience: To put it simply, Dr. Chris knows his stuff... I would highly recommend anyone with any and all back and/or neck related injuries to go see Dr. Chris and his staff. Easy to set up an appointment, you don't have to wait weeks and weeks to get in. And when you do go for your appointment, it's overall, a really great and enjoyable experience. Fantastic experience: I came to American Back Center based solely on the Google reviews. I'm mid-20s and have a mild back problem. I injured myself back in high school (slipped disc) and I never got it fully taken care of. I had trouble bending over to tie my boots, experienced pain in the mornings, and really hurt after playing basketball. I went to the American Back Center 3 days a week for a month. In just that short time, I experienced a huge improvement. I didn't have pain in the mornings, I could bend over to tie my boots for the most part, and there wasn't a constant, dull pain like there had been for years. I now go 2 days a week for further adjustments and physical therapy. They give me tons of exercises to do at home. Doc Chris and PT Chris are both great. They've relieved my pain and given me exercises to do. At this point, it seems that my laziness will be the only reason I'll experience back pain again. Everyone at the office is nice and polite. They'll send you texts the day before your appointment as a reminder. They have a finance lady there to explain what your insurance will cover and whether your payments are doable, which is great to avoid awkward money conversations. All that aside, with my basic insurance, it's extremely affordable.

Fantastic experience: The PTs (physical therapists) they have in their team are incredible. You will get the personalized attention during every session and they have a very good work ethic. I strongly recommend it to someone who has spine injuries or other physical issues that need to be taken care of. Great customer service!

Fantastic experience: My visit was my first time beginning here and i love this place the staff and doctors are so friendly and wonderful. i would let everyone i know about American back clinic. i would also like to thank everyone here it's such a at home experience when you walk in.

Positive experience: Excellent physical therapists: Andre, Kelly. Both have the experience and personal touches to make the treatments both effective and pleasant. Highly recommended. Billing: I had 3 billing statements (two of them erroneous and one was never issued). Although my copay collected was the proper amount but the statements had never correctly listed my visits nor accurately calculated. (deducted one star for this). They need to fix this issue. Also tried acupuncture. It was not very effective at all. Not recommended (at least for this location). Originally I picked this office for its location and the good reviews. But then I noticed that they offer movie tickets for writing reviews in their office (I suppose it means writing good reviews). So don't believe everything in the other reviews. Oh, no. I did not want those movie tickets. This review is not biased. Overall, I would recommend this office for physical therapy. They are very good.

Fantastic experience: I had some residual back pain due to a biking accident--I was hit by an SUV and had broken three ribs, and had lost a lot of strength through the interim while recovering. American Back Center did a full review of my case, consulted me on exactly what their strategic plan would be to recover fully and effectively, and empowered me to do my own stretching/strengthening routine on my own at home. Both physical therapists are great, and incredibly personable individuals. I also received some chiropractic services, as well as massage therapy--both services were also excellent, and tailored to my needs. I highly recommend ABC to anyone looking for the aforementioned services in the Loop!

Fantastic experience: I had be introduced to VAX-D about 15 years pryer to finding The American Back Center. I was a believer in how it works and what it can accomplish. The treatment was no longer available where I lived, (far west of Chicago) so I searched and found ABC. I called and discussed my problem and received an appointment for consultation. I brought my back films with and had the consultation with Dr. Kris, explaining what the course of treatment would be and the time frame. I couldn't wait to get started and the out come has been nothing but positive. My pain is gone, I feel great. I learned the do's and don'ts for everyday use, with stretching and strengthening exercises at home. I still go for routine visits once a month to keep in shape. The professionalism, care and concern by all the staff at ABC is why I keep going back and the results are a product of them.

Fantastic experience: I hurt my back from a freak accident at home, and didn't have any idea of a chiropractor to see. Low and behold, I did a web search and came across the American Back Center and Dr. Chris. Dr. Chris and his staff have been wonderful! My back issues were diagnosed, and they are getting progressively better! And the massage from Ingrid was incredible. I knew it was legit when she was able to pinpoint an old hamstring injury from a year ago just through her knowledge of some of my issues. I would recommend them to everyone!

Fantastic experience: These guys are fabulous! Whether chiropractic care, nutrition or physical therapy, the staff here are professional, friendly & helpful. I can't imagine going anywhere else and have people who are more involved & supportive in my healthcare needs.

Fantastic experience: The staff here are great, so nice and helpful. Perfect location for me, right across from the Art Institute. Also, Doc Chris has a great bedside manner and is very knowledgable. Fantastic experience: I have been visiting the ABC for about 3 years. I originally visited the ABC for back pain issues which got much better over time thanks to alignments, therapy and exercise. I now visit the ABC a couple of times a year for a "routine alignment." All the staff are friendly and courteous. I would not hesitate to recommend them to family or friends: Relieving back pain = a better "quality of life"!

Fantastic experience: I came to the American Back center after I have received an ad in my mail box for a weight loss program. I decided to give it a shot and guess what??? It was like magic. Dr. Danielle is really a great nutritionist. She is nice and understanding. She gave a plan for seven days to cleanse my body and I have lost 5 pounds in a week !!!! I extremely recommend it to any one who wants to live healthy. I had an accident in December in which I have twisted my right thigh. I was not feeling good at all. after visiting my doctor he told me that I needed some physical therapy to strengthen the thigh. The physical therapist is more than great. PT. Kristine Is really good in what she is doing and she is nice. I recommended her to my sisters and they are feeling great after the first session with her. All in all the American Back Center is a splendid place.

Fantastic experience: I was a patient many years ago. I came back in Jan 2013. I'm so glad to be back. The staff gives great service. They care about the whole well being of their patients. I have used the massage therapist. Wonderful!!!!! Danielle if straight forward about health and nutrition, she wants the best for her patients and will encourage you along the way. I lost 50+ lbs going through her program. I look fabulous, from a size 18+ to a size 10. I have use the Chiropractic services and Dr. Chris is great, he really works with you to maintain great health. I recommend the American Back Center to all who want to take control and change.

Fantastic experience: My experience at this clinic as been life changing. I needed to lose some serious weight I've gained over the last 10 years. I need to lose at least 60 pounds! But guess what? I've been on the HCG program for only a few weeks and I've lost 15 pound so far. I have never felt better. I am so motivated! Some of the diet restrictions of the program made me nervous, but it is an easy program to follow. Much easier than I anticipated. Daniel is so knowledgeable and is really educating me on nutrition. I am learning so much from her. The staff at this clinic are all friendly and making appointments is easy. I also come to this clinic for my chiropractic needs and Dr. Chris is amazing.

Fantastic experience: I really can't say enough about the American Back Center. The entire staff here is excellent and the real difference is how much they truly care about your personal healing. My story: I herniated a disc (2nd time) and was told by a Surgeon that I most likely needed a Spinal Fusion. I went to the ABC and here I am 5 months later back on my feet and back at work! I have come so far from the debilitating chronic pain I was suffering before. From my first initial call, Rebecca went beyond the call of duty to make sure I was heading in the right direction. PT Kris was excellent and gave me many thoughtful and needed stretches/exercises. Overall, Dr. Chris provided an honest and personable approach in directing my treatment. Fantastic experience: I came into the American Back Center because I was experiencing excruciating pain that started in my lower back and then would shoot down my left leg. My primary care physician thought that I may have sciatica due to a bulging disc. An MRI revealed what my doctor had believed to be the problem which led me to the fine folks at American Back Center (ABC). A day before coming to ABC, I made the mistake of visiting another back "specialist" after watching one of the infomercials on TV. You may know this of this other place because they have a former Chicago Bear doing most of the talking. However, I found this other place to lack the professionalism and customer care that I have experienced here at ABC. The other place wanted to sell me tons of supplements and I didn't meet with the doctor until the end of my session, where he spent only 5 minutes with me. I spent most of my time there talking to a physical therapy assistant who didn't sound very knowledgeable and who was more interested in scheduling me for 36 session prior to finding out what was going on with my back via an MRI. I was absolutely turned off by the whole sales pitch and if they were in the business of selling time shares instead of helping people with back issues, they'd be millionaires. If you're looking for a place that truly cares about their patients, offers world class technology in a relaxed and very comfortable environment where the entire staff takes the extra time to answer your questions and not rush you out the door, then you must come to American Back Center. Dr. Chris, Rebecca and Carol will make you feel like one of the family! After taking some advice on controlling my weight through diet and which positions/exercises would offer me relief before the intense physical therapy begins in a few days, I can honestly tell you that I feel a major difference. My spasms haven't returned for several days and I have been sleeping much better. Thanks American Back Center! I'd give you 20 stars if I could!

Fantastic experience: I came in to the American Back Center because working full time in front of a computer and also being in law school makes my back hurt and causes headaches. I have only good things to say about them! Since coming in I have learned how to do stretches and exercises on my own that help my back and always have a pleasant experience in the office. Doctor Chris is very personable and one of the best chiropractors I have seen! They also have massage therapists in the office which is extremely helpful if you have chronic problems with tightness and knots like I do! It is always easy to schedule appointments that work for me and they are always flexible. I highly recommend American Back Center to anyone considering it!

Fantastic experience: I was first introduced to ABC from my job. We had a health fair where they came and gave a health analysis. After my health analysis, I was offered a free consultation to find out about my nutritional health. The consultation was very informative resulting in my starting the HC3 program. The HC3 program gave me a head start on leading a healthier lifestyle. Also with the program, I received great supported consultation from Danielle Decelles. Her support helped teach me how to eat better and give me knowledge on how to continue eating healthy outside the program. Coming to ABC has been the best change for my life because I have learned how to eat to live and not live to eat.

Fantastic experience: This is a great practice. I was a previously a patient of Dr. Chris' at the Archer location before he moved to the Michigan Avenue office. Fortunately the Loop location is close to my office and I can now see him on my lunch hour. Everyone at this location is great. Easy scheduling with lots of appointment reminders, never a long wait, friendly staff, lots of laughs, great massages, a nutritionist and, oh yeah, good chiropractic care. It's a great full service practice dedicated to a holistic approach.

Fantastic experience: I went to American Back Center for physical therapy and chiropractic care. I have been to several different physical therapy centers and chiropractic centers as well and I felt this one tops the charts. First of all they really do their best to make it affordable and get you in network for insurance. Also the care is really individualized. I had been to Athletico and felt like I could do the same physical therapy exercises at home in my own gym because the physical therapist had so many patients at once. American Back Center does an amazing job of making the patient the center of attention and really help you to improve your condition. I have a crazy work schedule that is constantly changing and many times I am on call for work which made it difficult to plan appointments. With American Back Center they are very flexible and work around you to make their schedule fit with your schedule. Everyone is very friendly and caring.

I was asked what the problem was and was treated promptly and accurately. The entire staff at ABC made the visit more than worthwhile. I would recommend their services to all that need relief from pain and tension. This is the important first step in relief is to call and make an appointment. The pain began to subside with the first call.

Positive experience: I had a great time at one of their informative classes about smoothies and super-foods. I learned great information that has since changed my health around since I put it into practice. I highly recommend them and their services to everyone. I also loved the staff that was present. Fantastic experience: I have been receiving chiropractic care at the American Back Center for a year and a half , first because of a disk injury and then receiving maintenance through endurance sports training.
