Positive experience: Doctor Helen Jin is a professional, she's nice, kind, polite, I love her!!!. No one like her!!!. I had an issue with a receptionist, she is Latina, she had a point, but I think there's gotta be a different way to communicate with patients especially minors, receptionists need to be sympathize and one day I've talked to someone from dental department, that lady was mean, but anything else, I think I'm okay. And you guys should keep the Nurse Practioner Nicholas, he's great .

Negative experience: This is literally one of the worst health centers. I've been needing serious dental attention for quite some time now and still have yet to get the proper procedures done. Today I had a dental appointment, I went in and the receptionist told me that the dental department was closed nonchalantly and that I was supposed to receive a call informing me, which I never did. For context, this occured after I left work mid-shift. The service was highly unprofessional and careless with no regard for peoples personal lives. Not to mention this is the second time that they've caused me inconvenience. The first time I came in, the dentist was absent. If I can give zero stars, I would. Would not recommend and will not be returning!

Positive experience: Everyone in this place is nice except for the two women at the front desk. The African American lady and the Hispanic lady are so rude and condescending when they talk to you. Only the Asian lady that sits at front sometimes is so nice and helpful

Fantastic experience: I have been coming here at the dental department for many months to see Dr. Patricia Izquierdo, her assistant Kevin and Ashley. They are so friendly, professional, excellent at what they do and genuinely caring people that I'm so grateful for them. They go above and beyond to make me feel comfortable and at ease that I'll be taken care of. The world needs more people like them.

Fantastic experience: I arrived for my first appointment, but I was in a lot of pain, and Dr. Patricia Izquierdo discovered that I had a fractured tooth. She immediately turned the situation into a medical emergency and proceeded to perform the extraction. Dr. Izquierdo and Kevin (her assistant) were incredibly professional and caring. The best people.

Negative experience: I am writing because I have a very sick mother dying of cancer, and I have called 3x wanting to speak with her Doctor Dina Louie, and she does not return my calls. I called in December, but there was no return call, Again, I called on January 31, 2025, and they scheduled me to have a conversation with her at 5 pm. Betances called me to say they need to cancel because she went home sick, which happened before. They rescheduled the phone call for February 7, 2025, at 5 pm and no return call. What kind of clinic is this? Someone is dying of Cancer and her doctor. What I was told is the only one to write to her insurance plan that she needs 24-hour care at her home and not 1 phone call back. I am so disgusted with this clinic. I don't know what kind of care and compassion they have for their elderly patients. She saw my mother in a wheelchair last week and just sent her home with no help whatsoever. She asked my mother if she wanted to go to a nursing home? My mother started to cry and said no. My mother would rather be in her own bed. Can she at least have extra help that she needs? She couldn't at least write to her insurance plan that this is urgent or get back to me in a timely manner? I can't help her since I am out of the country. This is beyond ridiculous, I am extremely upset, and I would like to know who is in charge of this facility. It's so sad.

Negative experience: Nov.27.2024 Poor communication, lack of care, rough handling, disregard for pain, poor hygiene practices, rushed appointments, inaccurate diagnoses, failure to address concerns, unprofessional behavior, and a general feeling of discomfort or anxiety during appointments; dentists are not prioritizing/ preventing proper patient care and prioritizing their well-being. Met initially with Dr.Patricia Izquierdo, at first she demonstrated control towards my emergency dental treatment required but later on she disassociated with my case and showed to care less if the on time right treatment was provided. Waited for a first time appointment with her for 2 months trusting in the feedback of other patients in regards to her medical care but she didn't live up to them; she is out frequently apparently of sickness and the clinic depends only on her work. On my second visit I heard Dr. Izquierdo's reaction to a patient's pain “don’t ever grab my hand and stop me what I am doing”. Dr. Izquierdo, you should reconsider your choices. Either you get your act together by having empathy, professionalism, and commitment to the clinic patients' medical needs (especially when you have been given the chance/hired to improve their dental health condition) or consider not to offer your service in a mediocre arrogant neglectful way. When Dr. Izquierdo was out.... the clinic management assigned me to an Asian descent dentist that has no manners to treat patients. She is so arrogant and shows it with a bad attitude by not listening to their patients concerns and comments after she assesses the clinic treatment you are in need of. Her English is not up to the standard of a Medical Director as she expresses she is. Needed a translator from what she was saying in English to English. She attributed that all these types of poor services are based on the type of Community Clinic Betances is. A message for Julia Tsien, LMSW, MPH CEO of the clinic: With all due respect to your welcoming message that is next to your picture on Betances Health Center web page.... you should really be implementing what you estate Betances is all about because is not the clinic's reality provided to the patients: “At Betances Health Center, providing our patients with the best quality care is our first priority. We offer state-of-the-art technology, and a warm, caring environment. We practice Team Based Care, and you are the most important member of the team. Everything we do is to support you in setting and reaching your goals for best health." Pretty words but not the reality patients are receiving at the center. One last thing there is a lady with long white hair who has an office on the hallway of the dental department that the two times I have visited the clinic comes out to shhhhh patients. A message to her " Have you ever been unnecessarily exposed to pain or have a disagreement with your doctor that doesn’t have empathy with what you are going through". Any reaction of the majority of human beings is to get upset and express their disagreement in a higher voice than when not put into this type of unecessary stressful situation". Also keep in mind that the ladies working at the Dental Clinic are not sure if it is due to their culture or personal behavior they tend to raise their voice. And advise to you….is not nice to come out and shhh people that way….instead ....you should ask the management to relocate your office to a place when you can have the silence and the peace you need because obviously this is an ongoing issue for you or try placing a sign on the halway saying in a civilized manner "Just a friendly reminder to keep the noise level down". Your annoying attitude to the ones you consider to be annoying to you just adds more fuel to the issue. Let’s get along all well; you don’t look good in doing that shhh thing and people you are shhhing are no kids, show your maturity as well please. _________________________________________________

Fantastic experience: I have been coming to receive doctor and dental services here since my kids were much younger and now my two daughters aged 23 and 21 are in College! This is a wonderful place with awesome professionals, the place is always spotless clean, they even redecorated it with a new setting and fresh garden like decor. It is very convenient and wheelchair accessible as well! Just a few blocks away from public transit here in New York and a lovely front desk staff always ready to help!

Fantastic experience: I’ve only been here once for a dental cleaning. I booked the next available appointment which was two months out (which was ok, as I only wanted preventative care, I didn’t have a dental emergency or anything like that). For reference, I currently have Medicaid. Most reviews I read of dentists in the LES were pretty unfavorable so I wasn’t sure what to expect, especially when half the people in the waiting room seemed to be addicts. However, both the dental hygienist and dentist herself were surprisingly pleasant! The dental hygienist told me everything she was going to do before she did it and continuously checked in on my comfort level throughout the cleaning process. I can’t speak for any of the other services here but I would feel comfortable coming back to this practice for routine dental care. I believe the dentists name was Dr Izquierda (apologies if misspelled). Working with the public can be exhausting and frustrating but the dental providers I saw were thorough and pleasant.

Fantastic experience: Best dentist visit of my life! Dentists I’ve had in the past have pushed expensive, purely cosmetically-oriented teeth alignment on me but Dr. Izquierdo kept to the important things and patiently, clearly gave me actually useful tips and guidance for healthy teeth. Her assistant, Jasmine, was also great! I’m no longer afraid of the dentist.

Negative experience: I'm a brand new patient to Betances. Dr. Jin is professional and polite. I had a very negative experience with Anthony Pereira/Care Coordinator & Jessica Guaman. When looking for a provider, I expect the staff to be competent, compassionate and eager to help individuals who are looking to establish care, some of who are new to clinical experiences. These 2 employees are rude, unprofessional and should not be working in this capacity. I have read the other reviews similar to this one. The medical staff is good, but the care team, specifically the above mentioned reflects negatively on the entire establishment. This business is only operational if clients come to receive care. If you are rude and ugly to clients, they will not return. I cancelled all services and have moved to another provider with pleasant staff. I spoke with the supervisor Nicole, and she excused the experience to a language barrier. I assure you there was no language barrier, a racial barrier perhaps, meaning if I was Spanish like they are, I wouldn't have received this kind of treatment. I'm Black.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Patricia Izquierdo DDS is setting a precedent for skilled, honest and compassionate dental care in NYC. Dr. Izquierdo is gentle and efficient, provides PAINLESS cleaning, and gives realistic personalized health advice in a nurturing non judgmental manner. I am very impressed with her deft technical skills, and feel inspired and more capable to take better care of my mouth after visiting her office.

Negative experience: Dr Crandall is a very good doctor. She gets a full 5 stars. But my goodness those girls at the front desk with their hairstyles looking the same, is just two of the rudest people. First they pretend to be on the phone, bruh then when it’s good and ready for them to call on you in the line, it’s like you’re a bother to them. Maybe find a job you like (preferably not in customer service) or change your ways towards people. The only reason why people go there is because it’s convenient. If it wasn’t people wouldn’t go there to face these front desk rude people. K. Bye bye now.

Fantastic experience: I saw Dr. Thai who is an amazing podiatrist; he can take away your pain with a tiny needle. Unfortunately he only sees patients on Monday, Wednesdays and Friday.
Negative experience: I had a terrible experience with the podiatrist Dr. Thai. Rude, condescending, and very rushed. Wouldn’t listen to anything I told him, and told me that because the pain wasn’t excruciating I should “learn to live with it”. He then cut my toenails in a way that caused the pain to get worse over the next few days and is now infected as a result of his shoddy job. Stay away!!
Fantastic experience: Overall a great experience. This institution truly values the community and the well being of their patients. When getting my COVID vaccine nurse Martha was very informative about the vaccine and provided quick service. When getting my COVID vaccine I was overdue for a dentist appointment and the marketing assistance Pei put me on the schedule the same day to see the dentist. Truly so helpful and very accommodating 10/10.
Negative experience: I needed a mask ,so i went in,and asked for one,the guy sitting there near a box of them, refused to give me one ,said I had to be a patient ,so much for health care centers worrying about the spread of Covid

One of the nurses said there was absolutely nothing wrong with me without even checking my vitals , blood pressure or temperature first , what a JOKE . She had a big attitude , tried to dismiss me like if I was a waste of time without even getting my blood pressure or vitals first , then one of the Board of Directors OR whatever he wanted to call him self also tired to dismiss me I tried my best to be polite about the situation . Would NOT recommend this place at all !!! My doctor wouldn’t see me because I came an hour before closing . DO NOT COME HERE . MY OPINION. The doctors do not have enough time to see their patients and don’t care to see any of them in the first place (LOWER EAST SIDE LOCATION)<~~

Negative experience: I’m not sure how this place has 5 start reviews! Since I’m new to the area I took a look at the reviews and made an appointment. The first time I was seating in a room for over 2 hr. No one came. I called and made a fallow up appointment to get the results of the test they order. As I’m trying to make the appointment the person helping me start to have a personal conversation with someone at the center. I wanted 15 minutes, then finally she told me I have an appointment at 3pm Monday the 30th. I walk in today at 3pm. I approach the front desk and there were 3 ladies gossiping, as if they were in their block! So I told them that I had an appointment. One them tells me that my appointment is at 4pm. So I told them I have an appointment at 3, not 4. Other lady then told me with a nasty attitude “ she’s not telling you we can’t see you, she’s telling you your appointment is at 4”. Very unprofessional, nasty attitude! So i have to start al over again and find another doctors office.

Negative experience: Yes, the staff of Betances Medical Clinic are polite and kind to most patients. However, anyone who has been a patient here should seek medical re-examination and get second opinions elsewhere. The doctors at this clinic will repeatedly tell you that your health is fine when you are not well at all, or you are dreadfully misdiagnosed. Again, urge anyone who is a patient of this clinic to seek Medical re-examination(s) elsewhere, as a precaution and/or second, or third opinion. Also, there is a high turnover of doctors here, for reasons unknown to the public.

Negative experience: The service and care is excellent; however, it’s absolutely impossible to reach someone if you need an appointment. I’ve been trying to reach someone for over 2 weeks and no one answers my messages or returns my calls. Don’t call during off hours because the recording says you can leave a message, but in reality you can’t.

Negative experience: I was in a program at Betances Heath Center since January of this year, the team is excellent, before I awarded 5 stars! unfortunately I must believe that the new person in charge of my program JORGE SARCOS had a bad day or the empathy and good predisposition in the attention is not his predominant quality! I understand if we are busy! but it's new york we're all busy! recommendation, if you attend two minutes to a person the eye contact, the greeting, a smile is much more valuable! Sometimes work sucks but work is work! and they are qualities that the people who work there have! again, maybe it was just a bad day!
Positive experience: Dr cellario is amazing..since out my womb my son has been seen by her..she's informative..caring..n a blessing..I've moved from the neighborhood to the bronx n i travel all the way to her..she will be my son pediatrician til he's 18..lol..
Positive experience: First time visiting..Friendly Staff & Well mannered..The wait time was very short which I really liked but the distance is crazy especially if you don't live in Manhattan and you're coming from Brooklyn or Queens you'll get exhausted trying to find your way here but it was all worth it

Fantastic experience: Great hospital, great customer service skills. I take my kids here and I go here and never have an issue. The staff is patient and professional and my kids doctor Cellario is an amazing doctor.
Negative experience: Took my son out of school to have his dental cleaning seeing that this health center was 1 block away. The receptionist just kept eating and whenever I asked a question as to why we were waiting so long yet we are the only ones here she had so much attitude. I notice however she was nice to the Spanish people that she knows. Very unprofessional and slow!!!!!!!!! She completely ignored us sitting there otherwise and proceeded to argue ith us...... terrible!!!!!!!! Two other co-workers helped to gang up on us when we tried speaking up about our experience!!!! Only come to this dental office if it's absolutely last resort!!!!!

Negative experience: The Staff at Betances health Center is very unprofessional and disrespectful. When you call to schedule an appointment no one seen to know how to direct your call. They will keep you on hold forever, and if they can't help you they will just hang up the phone. If you call for Healow Login Credential no one seem to know anything about healow. Healow is a Application, Site’s purpose is to provide a secure network that will assist patients in managing their medical records, prescriptions, doctors’ appointments and other healthcare related items.) But yet they are promoting the Healow App in their lobby with poster. As far as i can tell the place need to get Audit and also need to teach them about Business Etiquette Tips.
Negative experience: No one pick up the phone to make an appointment. The Website sucks you can't click to get information
