Unfair Advantage Performance & Wellness

Fantastic experience: Not your typical private studio gym. It is the size of a warehouse. I go here mainly for the Infrared sauna, cold plunge and red light therapy. They also offer physical therapy and private workout sessions. I like the fact that they have multiple stations so Im not waiting for a sauna. Showers are also a plus. Met Watus and his wonderful wife years ago at a charity event they were hosting. Down to earth people. Years later they found out I was going thru cancer treatment and offered their facilities. It has been a blessing as I battle/recover. Not mention the positive attitude that Watus eludes who was also a trainer for the ASU football team. Salt of the earth people.

Fantastic experience: Watus is patient, encouraging & methodical in his training. It is apparent he enjoys people & takes seriously his job to challenge clients to greater health & success. Unfair Advantage is a gym for average people to pursue fitness & athletes who aim to excel. Highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: Watus, Erik and Team are amazing. It’s a high level place but very welcoming and encouraging no matter your fitness level. You feel comfortable and part of the UA family immediately. Highly recommend checking them out if you are looking to improve your health, body and movement. They have great options from group workouts to private one on one training. They even have ice baths, saunas and other fun stuff. Do yourself a favor and go check them out.

Fantastic experience: Watus and his facility is excellent ! I followed the ARX equipment from original therapist to Watus it is that good! And I have discovered all that Unfair Advantage has to offer like the O2 bath, red light therapy and more. I have chronic back and neck issues and the ARX machine has helped me go from not able to physically do anything to almost everything again. Watus is very scientific in his explanations of all the other therapies he has to offer and I am very excited for the next level of physical improvement his facility has to offer. His staff is very informative, friendly, patient and thorough.

Fantastic experience: Amazing trainers with positive attitudes that encourages all people, ages, and skill levels to become the best versions of themselves. Both of my children- one a college athlete, and the other in middle school have had the opportunity to work with Watus, Erik, and Tannor who are very knowledgeable and tailor the sessions to the person’s individual goals. Additionally they are kind, and bring the fun to training sessions! My son recently participated during the Spring Break performance program and enjoyed the skills, drills and agility training. He is already looking forward to returning for the summer program!

Fantastic experience: First class training facility. The trainers here are very knowledgeable on what they are teaching. They not only communicate effectively but can show you physically how the exercise should be performed. I have never had an easy day of training here at UA and I believe that’s the reason I’ve grown so much as a college athlete in such a short period of time. If, you are after trainers who will spoon fill you with bs, this isn’t the place for you. A lot times you will leave mentally exhausted more so than physically. Being able to think and perform at a high level when your body is fatigued. Definitely, one of the best decisions I have ever made!

Fantastic experience: There's too much to say! This place is phenomenal. Both Watus and Erik are very approachable and incredibly knowledgeable about their craft. I have only done the group classes, but they are no joke. Every class tackles all different muscle groups with dynamic exercises that are both weight bearing and body weight only. This is not like traditional weight lifting and that's one main reason I like it. With a strong martial arts background myself, I found traditional gyms intimidated me because I didn't know what I was doing. I find the dynamic movements in these classes are more like what I have already been doing - only executed differently and with weights. Everyone at this place has been amazing and I'm looking forward to continuing to train here and see what "the best shape of my life" looks like. Come join us!

Fantastic experience: Next level training. These guys are legit! If you want to move optimally, perform better or get rid of pain this spot is for you. Whether your a professional athlete or someone who can barely walk.

Fantastic experience: My kids are junior tennis players and I was looking for a great place for them to work out and balance their somewhat one sided sport. Watus and his team not only understand what junior athletic development means, but according to my son "they speak kid" :). Working out with Watus is fun! Many other trainers insist that kids need to lift weights, which is so wrong. Watus and his team focus on balance, agility, motion, and proper form. This is exactly what we need!

Fantastic experience: I joined our local gym and enjoyed the Body Pump class. I was so sad when the gym was bought out by another gym and they discontinued these classes. I started attending group workouts at UA. I was a little intimidated by the fitness level in the group sessions I was so happy to join Coach Haines group workout classes which were geared more toward a beginner level. I have made some great friends and we enjoy the workouts that Coach has programmed for us. He is thorough in his demonstration and works with us one on one as needed when we are trying things out of our comfort zone. I look forward to working out and can feel myself getting stronger not only in muscle but in my confidence. I highly recommend Coach Haines group training classes.

Fantastic experience: This gym has a great natural environment. All of the equipment and therapies are fluid and designed to give you better balance & mindset. The owners Wattis and Jennifer are incredibly disciplined & creative. They have become a second family to our son, & continue to provide and produce knowledge of healthy lifestyles to even the average person. It is a family oriented place. They have collegiate athletes with like minded sports therapy goals to assist their clients. I thought it was awesome they ask a detail health history including prior injuries or limits before designing a program especially for my strength & therapy needs! Incredible and worthwhile! Ask about the Red light therapy and the saunas!!

Fantastic experience: I’ve had injury after injury over the years as an ultra distance runner and Unfair advantage is definitely the best way to describe my experience here. Watus is a wealth of information regarding training the body and nutrition and Coach Haines has a military background which is apparent in the way he motivates and leads his crew. I love training with these guys because they think outside the box and pay attention to the details. Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: Five of us girls took a trip to Arizona & we wanted to do something active yet fun that we could all do together. Dale arranged an awesome class for us. It was super challenging but fun! My favorite was flipping the giant tractor tire, felt pretty badass. I hope to go back next time I’m in the area.

Fantastic experience: My kids absolutely love and look forward to their workouts at Unfair Advantage. They’re WORKING from the time they start warmups to the very end, and they are having FUN!!! This was exactly what I was looking for for my 2 HS athletes (both Football and Soccer). A full body workout that incorporates not only fitness & strength, but also core body strength and stability as well as injury prevention. I plan to send my college aged athlete there when she’s back in town over her breaks to keep up her fitness for the next soccer season. Thank you so much!!!

Fantastic experience: I attended the workout group specified for "beginners" like myself hosted by Coach Dale Haines. When I started, I aimed to lose baby weight after giving birth in 2019. Not only did I lose weight thanks to the very doable workouts specified for my body type, but I continued to work out with Coach Haines once I got pregnant again in 2020! Coach mapped out a workout plan that was pregnancy friendly keeping me and baby safe and healthy which I believe helped with an easier and timely labor and delivery. I love how the class is judgement free and suitable for all body types and ages. The facility is always clean and classes are prompt. Coach Haines is great at what he does and very personable. I would definitely recommend his class and others offered at the facility to anyone looking to maintain a healthy mind and body.

Fantastic experience: Watus Cooper and his team are tremendous. If you are wanting to improve your overall health this is the place for you. I've personally worked with Watus since 2013. Today, my body simply feels better than it did 8 years ago. I am more lean, stronger, and the little aches and pains that tend to show up as we age have mostly gone away. If you are willing to put in the time and effort you will experience results.

Fantastic experience: My 13 year old son attended the youth training camp this summer at Unfair Advantage. His experience was second to none. The training sessions were unlike any other trainings he had ever done at any other facility, and we’ve been to several. The trainers at Unfair Advantage incorporated the use of mobility activities/exercises, balance, and eye hand coordination in the training sessions, which has significantly improved our son’s strength, coordination and overall athleticism. The trainers are excellent, focusing on proper form and technique while also making the training sessions fun and motivating. The sessions were always different too, which kept him interested and engaged. We are looking forward to our son attending many more camps in the future. We can’t recommend Unfair Advantage enough!!

Fantastic experience: Wanted to get myself ready to get back into competing Jiu Jitsu after I injured my knee 3 years ago. I've known Watus for a bit and was always interested in the way he approached movement and his theories on exercise. I just competed for the first time this weekend and my knee held up with no problems. If you are looking to rehab or just improve on how you move this is the place to go. The team that Watus has assembled are top notch, knowledgeable and overall great people. They definitely know how to push and get you to do things that seem too difficult to do.

Fantastic experience: Watus at Unfair Advantage is unlike any trainer you have experienced. He is extremely knowledgeable, not only with training, but he knows the body like a Doctor. If you have any injuries or problems he knows exactly what to do and what not to do. Their recovery room is that extra touch that no other facility is doing. Icebath, Infrared Sauna, Red Light Tberapy, Leg Compressions and more! Also a GREAT place for kids to train.
