Fantastic experience: Fantastic experience at Deer Lake Lodge. Loved the yoga, Himalayan salt massage, and facial. The staff is excellent. The lodge itself is a true getaway, but close enough to Montgomery for quick runs. I highly recommend and will definitely be back myself.

Fantastic experience: Had a wonderful time staying at the resort. It’s located in beautiful secluded location next to the lake. Clean suites and cabins. Great staff, very friendly both Joanna and Laura were amazing and helpful too. Shelley and Nanz were great service provider. Yoga and mindfulness classes with Zach is definitely my reason to go back again. Helen’s class was unique and enjoyed thoroughly. All the juices and soups are very delicious. I learned a lot about food, eating habits and will be back.

Fantastic experience: I've been gushing about this place to anyone who listens. My friend owns it and I've had friends go but this weekend was my turn. We hear about the importance of taking time for ourselves, how it starts with food, getting away from frustration, social media drama, etc. This place is perfection. Don't let the fasting scare you - I was never hungry or bored. I did 'want' to eat my second day but it was more of a thinking it was time to eat so I went for a walk instead. The property is 50 acers of heaven. From the moment you enter the gates you're immediately at ease. The property is gorgeous. I did 4 days, 3 nights. Two colonics. Classes. You can come and go as you please. The day starts at 10 with a movement/yoga/breathing class and then at 11 an educational class. You can add on facials, various detoxing spa treatments, infrared sauna. It is more of a semi-fast. You have shakes, and a soup at night. Lemon water and tea all day. I didn't have any problem not having caffeine (and I typically drink coffee all day) Zack did do a class on various coffees and teas. The pool, outdoor fire pit, hot tub area is gorgeous. I cannot say enough about the place. You deserve to go out there. See my physical result photos too! Thank you, Tracy, Chris, Laura, and the whole team! You've created a very unique and special place right in Houston's backyard.

Fantastic experience: I just completed a three days detox cleanse with three spa services and colonics, and I am so impressed with Deer Lake Lodge! All services and facilities were excellent, detox program was easy and effective, cabin was lovely and quiet, and the management and staff are caring and very friendly. I’ll definitely be back!

Fantastic experience: This was the perfect mini-retreat to get me back on track; I only wish I could have stayed longer. I thought I might be bored but there are morning classes if you’d like to attend and plenty of time to relax and do what you need. You’re not going to have a spa diet, so be prepared for a cleanse/toxin removal approach. It helps with self control and allowing you to focus on other things. Amazing massage and advice on alignment was another highlight. New to me was working with an energy healer, but I enjoyed it and still use the recommended chakra music to calm my busy mind and help me fall asleep.

Fantastic experience: Great place to detox and relax

Fantastic experience: I spent 3 nights/4 days at Deer Lake Spa last week and had a lovely experience there. The spa is set in the forest with a little pond nearby and is all built around a pretty pool and hot tub. This a place for detoxing, so no fancy meals, but you are given multiple drinks and delicious soups throughout the day to keep you from getting too hungry. The spa services are very nice and the massage therapists are as good as any you'll ever have. There's a yoga class each morning, which was always nice, and then some sort of health educational class afterwards (a smoothie class, a soup class, a class on nutrition and supplements, etc.). There's also an infared sauna you can use if you want further help with detox. I declined the colonics due to a health issue, but most others did it and found it helpful and not a big deal. I stayed in one of the little cabins and found it very comfortable and peaceful. Most people there came alone, although there were some ladies there with a friend or family member, and everyone became friends quickly. The staff is friendly and helpful and very well informed. I will definitely come to Deer Lake Spa again and would recommend it to anyone wanting to lose some weight, getaway to relax and spoil yourself, or wanting a "reset" to healthy eating.

Fantastic experience: This place is a hidden gem and I can’t believe I just now stumbled upon it. A direct 3 hour drive from Dallas and across a railroad track, Deer Lake Lodge is tucked away in what a “Dallas Girl” would call the “wilderness” on 50 acres of gated land. It’s cozy, clean, rustic, safe, relaxing and the perfect place to reset from food cravings while giving your digestive system a much needed break. I stayed in one of the suites and it exceeded my expectations. If you’re expecting the Ritz, don’t. If your expecting cozy, kitchy, rustic chic— do. The quality of spa services exceeded my Four Seasons expectations because the therapists were incredibly knowledgeable. I went in for what I thought was a Swedish massage and instead Kelley went to the root of the problem. Elongating my spine, breaking up solid tissue, getting my lymph flowing. I saw her 3x and if I could take her home with me I would. (I would recommend getting in every ounce of her time and knowledge) But hey! If you just want a traditional Swedish... I am sure she would excel that also. My facial with Talita was exactly what my skin needed after 4 days of detoxing and the Ionic Foot Bath was a great way to finish up my final day. I highly recommend soaking your feet and getting out extra toxins-- and getting a birds eye view of what's going on inside. I brought along Epsom salts and soaked in the tub in my suite every evening. It was the perfect size to soak in for me and a great way to wind down. If the weather is nice, I also recommend jumping into the hot tub one evening. My bed was comfy and cozy. I loved the “fake” fireplace in my room. It offered continuous company when I retreated to my room with a book. Despite what some reviews say— the room was very clean and there were no bugs, save for the tiniest bug in the tub one morning-- I washed him down the drain. This is Texas. It’s a ranch. Bugs happen. If you shop local/organically, you should expect a bug, or two on your produce, here and there… and dirt. I found everything to be very clean and kept well. It's not the Four Seasons or The Ritz// but having been to OHI in Austin and Ann Wigmore in Puerto Rico (4x)-- this place was luxe. I will definitely be recommending this place to my clients and will 100% be back. Side note: when you’re booking, make sure you let them know about food sensitivities and allergies and also at check in. Note: while phone service wasn’t great in my room, my laptop worked perfectly and I got tons of work done. When I needed to make longer calls— I just walked around on campus or used FaceTime audio on my laptop. It was crystal clear. Also Note: I’d recommend booking services before you arrive. Ideally AT LEAST one a day. It will make the fast sooo much more pleasant... and I hear the Iridologist is AMAZING, but only there on Fridays... so next time I will make sure I am there when she it.

Fantastic experience: This is a great setting to detox from the holidays! Loved the atmosphere including the fireplace area, the great hot tub, and the cabins/rooms. Would highly recommend this retreat. Looking forward to going out there again soon!

Fantastic experience: My first visit to Deer Lake Lodge was in October 2021. Tranquility and soul centering are found here. Their nutritional programs and education, spa services and holistic offerings are second to none. In fact, I had a 2nd visit to kick off 2022 right!

Negative experience: I did not enjoy my experience here, although I did have some nice moments. It is extremely expensive and not worth the cost for what you get. PROS: The yoga/ body movement class was amazing, especially for first timers. The property is tranquil and quiet allowing maximum relaxation. CONS: You make your own detox drinks aside from one smallish juice in the evening, and wash your own dishes The evening soup is just ok and is set out in a cockpot nightly I ended up paying 1600 for 2 nights, including 3 subpar spa treatments. This is extremely expensive, and could have easily afforded me a trip somewhere with more inclusions It is really desolate...so much so that I departed early realizing it was a bit eerie being in a remote suite in the middle of the dark woods with what seemed to be no one else at the resort Overall, I'm happy I went to the resort as I learned some new habits, but this really should be half the price for what you get in return. FINAL THOUGHTS: Save your money and go to Canyon Ranch in Arizona or a more inclusive, nicer wellness resort in Mexico, Utah, or anywhere more scenic, mountainous, beach fronted with more to offer!

Fantastic experience: My husband and daughters gifted me and a guest a weekend relaxation getaway. My sister-in-law and I had an amazing experience. The staff is excellent (from the front desk to the maintenance crew!!). We enjoyed facials, body wraps, and amazing massages. All were very therapeutic as well as educational. The accommodations were simple, yet extremely comfortable. I can't wait until my next visit.

Fantastic experience: This place is awesome. Had a really wonderful experience staying eleven nights. The room was clean, cute, soft sheets and it has a nice little patio with a ceiling fan right outside your door. The back (not pool facing) is pretty and peaceful with a little pond and the woods. Only issue was the wifi and phone reception isn't great in your room. The bones are a shipping container so I would imagine the steel might have something to do with the poor reception. I did work from there a few days and was able to use the wedding facility as it was unoccupied and the wifi was fine there and it worked fine on the patio as well. It kind of forced me to disconnect. There is also a trail on the property, pool, sauna and many different types of treatments available. Sara, Dawn and Kellie the yoga instructors each had their own style and I enjoyed their classes. Chow Chow's massage was AMAZING she is great ALL the therapists, Kellie, Kim and Amy are passionate about what they do and good at their craft. I recommend the Iridology evaluation and energy work with Tara. The front desk ladies were great one just started and she was supper sweet. Shelly the hydrotherapy therapist was really friendly and made you feel comfortable. Denises soups and green juices were delicious and Zach is a wealth of information he should seriously sell the unbelievably good concoctions he makes he is a true master. Sara taught us how to make a vegan salad dressing that will now be a staple in my home it was yummy and healthy! I also met some really great people over the time I was there. This place has everything you need to make your detox an enjoyable experience. I'm so grateful to have so much more knowledge and excitement about making permanent changes in my life. I plan to come back every year.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been to spas all over the world and this one is one of the best experiences comparable to spas in Asia and Europe. The detox program is amazing and leaves you feeling healthy shiny and glowing from the inside out. The spa services are luxurious. And the location is absolutely beautiful. Deer Lake Lodge is a several times a year destination now for me!

Fantastic experience: Quiet, relaxing, subtle, reinvigorating...all true of Deer Lake Lodge. The staff is disarmingly friendly and helpful. They’re well-versed in the nuances of the services they offer and how each serve the stated needs of the client. Everything from my magnesium wrap to my men’s facial to my deep tissue massage was exceptional. Deer Lake is an instant tradition now for me and my beautiful girlfriend.

Fantastic experience: I absolutely loved my 4 day 3 night detox stay at DLL. After searching high and low for exactly what they have to offer, I was not disappointed with my experience. It's been a long 5 years and I have done none of my previously usual self led annual or semi annual detox/fasts. I have to say, they really have it figured out here...I was expecting to feel horrible since it has been so long and I have not been kind to myself amidst major life stressors back to back. To my surprise, I only experienced mild detox symptoms the first couple days followed by a very quick and drastic turn by day three. I credit the lack of major negative side effects to their "cocktails" of clean and specific whole nutrients and supplements. The education you get along with the peaceful supportive atmosphere is just another thing that puts this place over the top! My recommendation is to plan on taking advantage of every possible additional service you can while you are there to make the most of the self care time you have carved out; you will not be disappointed as they have service providers from the top of their respective fields that "cameo" regularly because they love the lodge and their mission. I cannot say enough about what a great experience this was and it was well worth every penny, especially when I see the prices for more "fru-fru" type destinations (not that there's anything wrong with "fru-fru" it just wasn't what I was looking for this time). If you are on the fence...BOOK! You deserve to be your best self and this is a great jumping off point...put on that oxygen mask so you can continue to impact those around you! I will be back as often as possible. Say hi to Ty, Tera, April, Cheryl, Shelly, Bruce, Kim and the rest of the "gang" from Carly when you go :).

Negative experience: Poisonous snakes and cockroaches! NOPE! The retreat as a whole is super cute. The class I attended was wonderful and the instructor was so sweet. Most of the staff was very professional and had great energy. The receptionist that booked my stay was gruff, untrained, tacky and extremely rude. I wasn't visiting to see her so she wasn't a factor when I made the decision to drive out to Houston. More on "Ty" later. I love writing positive reviews but I simply won't mislead others. Beware of this place! I only stayed for a few hours (was booked for four nights) If I had more time, I might have been able to give higher score. I say that because the class I took was so good! Water moccasins regularly sun themselves on the suite patios (according to my neighbor who was just warning me to wait them out and/or pay attention) The retreat is pretty remote so if there were an issue with a snake bite, I don't know how well one would recover- especially considering that the office isn't occupied 24 hours. There is a phone number to call for emergencies posted for after business hours. Cockroaches IN MY BED was not okay. After a long drive, I wanted to nap and pulled back the covers to find a healthy cockroach staring at me. This place is in the woods but this was more of a cockroach you'd find in a restaurant which is odd since there is not really food to eat. There was another dead roach in the corner of the bedroom. (the rooms are super cute, by the way. It's a shame they have these issues) After reporting the roach to Ty in the office, she seemed not surprised at all. When I asked if there was a problem, she simply aid, "well, we are in the woods!" I headed back to my room in disbelief when she followed me out to the courtyard and shouted, "I'll give you your money back right now but you have to leave right now. Come on! Now!" I hadn't mentioned leaving at all. Who is this person and how did she swing this job? I was extremely calm (especially considering situation!) I chose to go back to the room and pack my bags before following her direct orders. While I was packing, Ty decided I should pay for a treatment that was scheduled that same day since she was dismissing me! This was just ridiculous. I told her that I wasn't going to pay for a service I wouldn't receive and she stated, "well we're just going to have to argue about it because you are paying." She was shockingly ruse and such a poor representation of an otherwise peaceful retreat. She might be better utilized as a pit boss at a tawdry casino. She is just the exact opposite of what one would expect in such a lovely place! We settled on me paying for their 6% credit card processing fee just so I could leave. Side note: those fees are negotiable. Who is running this business and paying 6% processing fees? I later asked for a full refund from the office manager (after two attempts to get a response from her, she refused that request) As a point of reference, I'm not a priss! I grew up in the woods in South Carolina. I don't have a fear of snakes. I have a healthy respect for the distance between us. More importantly, never once in my life have I had a cockroach in my bed. That is an indication of problems as they can spread germs like crazy. I don't need a fancy place to stay for a detox. What I do expect is basic customer service and to be treated like a human when I'm reporting a serious problem. I was so looking forward to a reset. Really poor choice. Ugh, I really hate giving bad reviews but I have to be honest otherwise this process is not useful.

Fantastic experience: This was my second time visiting Deer Lake Lodge and the first time Ive been back post the COVID19 pandemic. The owners have implemented many new protocols for the health and safety of guests and staff. I felt very comfortable with the measures taken. The Lodge remains an amazing place to detox, and reboot yourself physically and spiritually.

Fantastic experience: My June 5 day/4 night solo cleanse retreat at Deer Lake Lodge exceeded all my expectations. The staff was super friendly, attentive, and provided excellent guidance and information. I learned so much that has improved my overall health and well being. My cabin was cozy, comfortable and serene. The summer rain on the tin roof of my private screened-in-porch was so cathartic. I wasn't sure what services to book and Ty at the front desk made some excellent recommendations. This was my first solo getaway in 20 years and I will be back without a doubt. Thank you to everyone at DLL who made my visit so worthwhile. See you next year!!

Fantastic experience: Beautiful place!

Fantastic experience: I was headed to Houston for a dear friend's 50th birthday and was looking for somewhere to stay where I could get some self care time. I am so glad I booked here. First, the staff who provide the services are knowledgeable, warm, and patient. I had a Swedish massage, my first salt scrub in a Vichy shower, and my first colonic. Secondly the surroundings are just peaceful and nearing idyllic. I lodged in one of the suites, which was perfect for my solo stay. The bed was super comfy, and there's beautiful light from large windows as well as a great little writing desk. There's a pond with a large deck which is perfect for reading, meditating, or just sitting by the fire. There's also a pool and hot tub area, with a generous deck and plenty of comfortable seating. There's another fireplace near the pool. The place is surrounded by woods, which I walked through pre-sunrise on my second morning there. I took a Kundalini yoga class that inspired a chapter of what I think will be a book. I took a raw food class that was incredibly informative, and the food was tasty. Next time I visit, I may try the three day cleanse. I know I will definitely be back. I was there just over 26 hours and feel like I've been away for a week, so it definitely was the right place for a much-needed respite.

Positive experience: My wife is getting a massage while penny the poodle I enjoy the grounds the grounds. This place is so beautiful and tranquil, I love the feel! Penny is having a blast because she found another dog friend and some cool trails (and a pond ,dont tell mom) This place has..Yoga ,massage/spa stuff, detox treatments, colonics, pool/jacuzzi, cabins and more! I definitely recommend giving it a try. My first visit here was with a class on eating wild foods by Meriweather! My point to that was I think they have other unique classes throughout the year also.

Fantastic experience: My boyfriends youngest sister got married here and it was beautiful. We stayed in a cabin that had a screened in porch to keep bugs away while we lounged. Over all, the experience was very good and the staff was overly helpful.

Fantastic experience: This Texas gem is hidden in a forest of gorgeous pine trees and provides endless opportunities for rejuvenation! I recently woke up and just knew it was time to detox my mind and body. I really wanted to get away to “reset” and relax but only had a 4 day window to do so. Upon researching Deer Lake Lodge I realized not only was it in driving distance but it had everything I was looking for! Each day your detox program is laid out in an easy to follow regimen, yoga is provided as well as classes to enrich your life. I studied everything from the healing power of plants to essential oils to meditation and more. It really reignited a fire in me! Also while on site I took advantage of spa services including a colonic. I know what you’re thinking but don’t knock it till you try it. That’s definitely not a requirement when staying at Deer Lake so just know that when you come here you can do it all or nothing at all. That’s what makes this place so great. Laid back atmosphere, amazing staff and the grounds are simply breathtaking. Last but not least, did I mention naps? Best daytime snooze I’ve had in years! The beds are very comfy and the digital fireplace is such a neat, cozy touch. I’m already planning my next visit because being at Deer Lake Lodge is truly like being in a completely different world.

Fantastic experience: Toured the Grand Hall for my wedding next year. The venue is beautiful and perfect country chic weddings. The management is also very hospital. I was greeted with cake balls from a local bakery when I arrived !

Negative experience: Quite a disappointing experience with Deer Lake Lodge. Terrible reservation booking experience with promised callbacks and no answers. While its the only high end spa in the Conroe area, I would only recommend this spa for their weekend retreats.
