Our comment from Nutrifinder.net about Atrius Health Concord:

Atrius Health Concord is a prominent healthcare facility known for its various departments, including pediatrics, internal medicine, and pharmacy. Many clients have praised the professionalism and friendliness of the staff, highlighting the welcoming atmosphere and the attentive care provided by doctors and nurses alike. The facility is equipped with an on-site lab and pharmacy, making it convenient for patients to access a range of services in one location.

Positive experiences include:

  • The pediatric department is especially commended for its empathetic and accommodating doctors and nurses.
  • Many patients appreciate the responsive pharmacy that can handle prescription needs efficiently.
  • The internal medicine staff is described as caring, with a focus on patient health.

However, there are several areas where improvements are needed:

  • Some patients have reported encountering rude and unhelpful staff, particularly at the front desk.
  • Long wait times and difficulties in scheduling appointments have been mentioned repeatedly, leading to frustration regarding the accessibility of care.
  • Instances of miscommunication about prescriptions and referrals have caused unnecessary stress for patients.

Overall, while Atrius Health Concord has many dedicated professionals and offers a range of services, addressing the communication and service issues could enhance patient experience significantly.

Nutrifinder.net cannot guarantee that the professionals and companies listed in the directory have adequate training or health certifications. Most of the companies that appear in the directory are nutritionists and dieticians, but there are also other types of professionals related to the nutrition sector. Negative experience: Geriatrics. They abandon you when there is a medical crisis. Tell you to go to the ER -- then don't read the ER reports to formulate a care plan or schedule follow up tests. Rude nurses (Caroline) hang up on you when you're literally begging for help and guidance. Why is Caroline still employed?? They won't make appointments for you for specialists or tests. Lab only does the basics. If you can strong-arm them into making a test appt, a half dozen random people call you back all with different information. Now currently dealing with--is the appt in worcester? Is it in Concord? I was told both for the same appt and no one actually knows. Waiting 2.5 weeks for a "stat" appt while the patient is in constant pain and declining with every passing day. Providers don't diagnose if a condition is difficult, so they send you away. Sending a portal message is like yelling into the void. Portal inquiries go unanswered much of the time and there's never a correspondence from an actual pcp (which are mostly RNs), only their staff. The return communication is often not even actionable--no plan, no advice. It seems the staff "protects" the pcp's from involvement in care. If you or your loved one go here, switch before real healthcare is needed!

Fantastic experience: My wife and I have used many departments of Atrius Health in Concord. They have been uniformly excellent, professional, helpful and friendly. These include optometry, nursing, pharmacy, laboratory, gastroenterology and others. It is an attractive facility with easy access and parking. The pharmacy is very responsive and willing to mail your prescriptions if you cant stop by. The professionals seem very qualified.

Fantastic experience: We’ve had a consistently wonderful experience at this pediatric doctor’s office. From the moment you walk in, the staff is welcoming, professional, and great with kids. The waiting area is clean and rarely overcrowded. The doctors here are patient, knowledgeable, and take the time to listen and explain things clearly. Whether it's a routine check-up, vaccinations, or unexpected illnesses, we always feel well cared for. Appointments are easy to book and follow-ups are prompt. The nurses are just as warm and capable as the doctors themselves. They always make sure my children feel comfortable and heard. Overall, I highly recommend this pediatric office to any parent looking for a reliable, compassionate, and professional place for their child’s healthcare.

Negative experience: Your PCP diagnosises the problem. It is up to the patient to research the diagnosis and find a specialist. In my case I had a cough for years, 2015 to present, my doctor listened to my lungs heard crackling. I had chest X-rays the doctor didn't seem to think it was bad. Now I am hoping I qualify for a lung transplant. Doctors are under constraints to get the patient out of the office. There is a annual bonus for Doctors if they get the patient in and out as cheaply as possible.

Fantastic experience: Every experience has been professional and positive on every level. I love my doctor Arun Mukharjee, he listens, explains everything and is brilliant. His knowledge of medication chemistry is gold standard quality. I am very particular with family physicians who have taught me much about the importance of quality care. I am very impressed with my PCP. The staff is lovely and polite. Grateful to have found Atrius Health.

Negative experience: I called them with complain of sudden hearing loss, and was seen the same day by truly wonderful Dr.Krueger who said it looks like an emergency, and asked the office lady to find me an audiography and ENT appt "today or tomorrow". He said that if the audiologist confirmed the sudden hearing loss I need to get steroids ASAP, so it was urgent. I had audiology the next day, and they confirmed low frequency sudden hearing loss. I had my ENT appt the next day, but I tested positive for COVID, called them, and they cancelled my appt with an option to reschedule in November. I cannot wait till November as my chances of regaining my hearing are close to zero by that time. It is a medical fact that steroids work well only if administered within the first 7-14 days. So I called my pcp office begging them to go over my tests and send a prescription. The nurse Olivia who called me back talked to me like I am a total idiot, to summarize in short our conversation, it was her telling me that it is my problem now, and if the ENT doesn't have any openings till November, I should wait till November. You, guys, are medical professionals, how come you don't care at all? There is only one thing to be done with SSHL - urgent course of prednisone, how come you are willing to let your patient go deaf when you can easily treat it? This level of indifference is shocking to me! Again, in the past I had only positive interactions with Dr.Zifcak, and Dr.Krueger was great. But it looks like when nurses like Olivia are allowed to make medical decisions, it reflects really poorly on the whole practice.

Fantastic experience: I have been Dr. Gomez's patient for many, many years. After a very disappointing experience with another physician in the group, I was ready to head to Boston. When I asked a very respected specialist to refer me to a local primary care doc, he sent me to Dr. Gomez. She has been particularly careful and attentive at all times. I could not be more pleased and thankful for her.

Fantastic experience: Atrius Concord has always had a very responsive and friendly staff. I feel like they treat you with concern, respect, and urgency. Some doctors are better than others. The Nurse Practitioners have all been very good to excellent. The Pharmacy fills prescriptions quickly and accurately. The lab folks have been very good also with typically short wait times.

Negative experience: In 7.5 years, I have had 4 primary care doctors here! Two were awful and only one good one. One I fired after one visit when she mistakenly told me I had had a heart attack, when in fact, I had not, which I knew. She didn’t even apologize for her outrageous mistake. The doctors come and go since Atrius took over. Unless you want a new primary care doctor very 1.5 years, do Not go here.

Negative experience: The pharmacy is GOD AWFUL! I love my child's doctor but the pharmacy is terrible! I avoid using it at all costs. I called in one of his refills and went to pick it up 3 hours later and it STILL wasn't ready. No matter what you wait at least 20 minutes to pick up a prescription.

Negative experience: I use to like this place until they started telling me what doctors I should see, every time I call in a referral it's nothing but a disaster and a run around cancelling appointments rescheduling because the dr isn't in Atrius health, done with this place as soon as Harvard Pilgrims system is up and running I'm dumping this health care facility, never had these problems at my last health care provider they sent referrals where ever I wanted to go,which I'm returning to their practice ASAP .I have my own doctors that have done surgery on me and I'd like to keep them, here at Atrius Health that isnt gonna happen so time for a change. If you have an HMO and have your own doctors you see this establishment isn't for you!!!!!!!. Not to mention I had a prescription called in went to pick it up and they gave it to someone else? What a joke!!Isn't a prescription when called in with your name supposed to be for that person, not to give to someone else. Then the pharmacist tells me call around to the local pharmacy to see if they have it,no help at all from the pharmacist. YOU gave my prescription away. you call and find me another prescription. Luckily the place I had my procedure done at had the pills for me,or once again I'd have to reschedule another appointment .

Negative experience: my wife is in the hospital possibly dying of kidney failure for Christmas at 38 years old. I remain at home with 2 kids and no help while I myself am dealing with the flu and they can't even get a nurse to call back to help me get some tamaflu. Called a third time a little delirious from fever and upset after waiting an hour and a half for a call back. I'm the bad guy for expecting care and genuinely needing a lifeline here. the woman legit started reamiing me out even after explaining my unbelievably difficult circumstances. what a disgrace. They simply don't give a flying you know what. no compassion or patience...the rmv is actually more pleasant. probably because they are used to dealing with people who are fed up. PS. Dr. Jain...your office is the absolute worst. you wouldn't know good care if it came up and slapped you in the face. Merry Christmas.

Negative experience: I had to give up on this place after a year. I was lured here by a good review on doctor review site about a primary care doctor. But that was a lie as this primary care doctor didn't know a thing about me after a year. She never seemed to read the chart before entering. In addition, the nurse took my blood pressure wrong each time. Putting me in a low chair while she stood with my arm above me. Well, of course, that is going to make my BP low. I swear anyone from the street would give me better medical care.

Negative experience: They run you their way with "take it or leave it" mentality. Message thru portal takes for ever. Finally told them to call or i'll go elsewhere. Got a call in 3 hours. You have to push them, not let them push you around. Got my appt. at my time.

Negative experience: This place is a disgrace to healthcare. I have received the poorest healthcare here than I ever had in my entire lifetime. Staff is rude, unprofessional, and unresponsive. You can never be seen by an actual doctor, and nurses are untrained and hardly available to consult over the phone. I can’t believe that I have been trusting them with my health when there are so many better options. They have deleted all negative reviews, that is misleading and countless number of people are getting mistreated here.

Negative experience: There are some great people at this office and in this network. Overall, however, I have been frustrated at every level with this particular practice and Atrius overall. With few exceptions they are horrible at communication, do a poor job of explaining issues and test results, and take a supremely defensive posture at any criticism. Their in network care is shockingly sparse, even fairly routine procedures can only be performed at one or two locations. I’m in serious pain and I’m having to play message tag to find a location closer to my address that they told me existed. It’s a perfect example of why the health care industry is broken

Fantastic experience: We recently moved from Medford to Acton and we're really thankful that there was a Harvard Vanguard office nearby. It was simple to transfer to the new office. The Pediatric doctors and nurses are amazing, the Internal Medicine department is extremely helpful, and I have had really positive experiences with both the pharmacy and lab.

Kevin Draper 3 years ago

Fantastic experience: Everyone has been extremely helpful and I have been going to this office for 4 years now. I've had people call to check in post visit and everything.

Jamie Phillips 3 years ago

Negative experience: Don't bother if you want to get your prescriptions without a struggle. It is a genuine surprise when I get my medication without having to deal with some sort of issue. For example, some receptionists in the internal medicine department will insist that you are calling too early if you attempt to fill a prescription in five days before you run out. Others will insist that you need to call in the same prescription at least five days before you need it to be filled.

Fantastic experience: First time visiting was years ago. This office has held a consistent level of professionalism. The doctors stay, which is a sign of the office itself being a great place to work. The doctors are incredibly educated and capable of solving the most complex medical needs.

Negative experience: Very impolite, careless peoples at the reception Every time you call there you will have the feeling that they honor you just responding. And it is almost impossible to get appointments with your PCP when you need. P.S. I got the appointment with NP finally. The nurse called me . It was lwvel 5 of rudeness and disrespect. " maybe you will stop interrupting me?!- she said when I was trying to explain something. AND by the way the connection was not good, so I could hear the part of what she was saying. I am done with them since new year I am got to find another office and another practice.

Negative experience: DO NOT GO HERE! They missed 2 blocked coronary artery for 2.5 years the ended up resulting in a heart attack. It seems clear that these doctors are more interested in covering for each other than the well being of their patients.

Positive experience: My Review is Only for Opthalmology, parking, location, front desk and optometrist. I was there countless times October and November of 2019 & waiting for next safe appointment. Cataract surgery both eyes. Dr. Gustave Alberti and support team. I was a difficult case & a difficult person I imagine. Complications after surgery at Surgisite ( not their fault but dreadful and fraud billing. Yes fraud confirmed by health insurance or let's pretend a "mistake" vociferously refused anesthesia everyone knew but oh look!) Reviews Should not be based on one or two experiences (not all other reviews make this error but you know..) golly I feel as if I lived there for 2 months. Dr. Alberti. People love him. Surgery waiting area was full of "I love Dr. Alberti!" Truthfully he's a bit of an odd duck lol. I think he's borderline spectrum. Intelligent but a tad scripted. Of course he does the same thing over & over: that's all he does cataract surgery. But he's very married to his medication chart. I'm sure "studies have shown" but my meds were complex on many levels due to infection or slow improvement. Chart designed for 3 weeks with not enough space. I'm just using this as an intro example. I was not a great reporter on my history but this didn't help. And then. Dr. Alberti does Not talk down to you and not to women either. He's a good diagnostician and a very attentive caregiver in that he sees you as often as needed Even if that's every 3 days.. Now. Reflect on wait times. Patients are being squeezed in yes wait times vary. Emergencies are unpredictable and no business can afford to leave gaps of time. I really grew to respect him. His staff were great. My only issue is this new reliance on the online system "My Health" I wanted to take home a piece of paper. Especially as my meds were changing constantly. Loved the nurse eye folks. Front desk. Efficient. Never waited more than 4 minutes. One day I was in an angry mood because of insurance then weepy. They were patient and kind & got me water. Quick pharmacy but my prescriptions were sent down. Optometrist a sweetie. Parking Fantastic! Always close as in a row next to front door. Good location once you figure out how to recross route 2. I had a dreadful experience at Atrius- H Vanguard with a nasty Dr. DePhillippo perhaps that trauma influences my love of Concord. Oh Covid! DePhillippo gave me an incorrect glasses prescription right before I could get another. So I can't drive. I hope they've fired her. If you know other Vanguard locations I'd say it's not too far off Kenmore, Davis Square or Watertown in quality but light years away with parking.

Negative experience: What a terrible organization! Both pre and post pandemic they have the most inexperienced non-doctors running Harvard Vanguard from the schedulers and nurses on the phone to the in-person staff. There are almost no doctors because, as a nurse told me, if they choose not to come in, they don't have to (instead they are taking zoom appnts, but try to get one of these and you can't!). Incredibly long wait times on the phone, can't schedule appnts or appnts get canceled or you are turned away once there. Incredibly bad service and advice from them!

Negative experience: Horrible no appointment with new Doctor till July 2017. Never answer their phones. I never had this problem in the Medford location. What a joke....will be looking for a new doctor soon.

Fantastic experience: I have been seeing Dr. Gomez for almost 20 years, and have seen many other doctors, PAs, and NPs within the office as well. I've never had a bad experience there. All the staff I have encountered have always been professional, friendly, and helpful. I've never had an issue with referrals, even after they switched to Atrius, and have been able to see multiple doctors outside the practice. I've never had an issue with billing or the pharmacy like other reviews have stated. I was truly shocked to see such low reviews. I rarely call the office, but when I have, I've never had to wait too long. I use the patient portal and ALWAYS receive a response within a few hours. Even Dr. Gomez herself responds to me, the same day, when I ask random questions that are only loosely related to my health. Over the years my dad and mom have become patients of Dr. Gomez, and I cannot speak any higher of her and the staff there. I would, and do, recommend them to EVERYONE that asks.

Negative experience: When this was Concord Hillside they actually cared about patients. Ever since Atrius took over the patient care aspect has gone down the drain. I have had better customer care at a DMV. Trying to get a copy of my medical records that were allegedly mailed to my new primary some time ago (which turned out to be a bare faced lie) has taken me the better part of 4 hours with the end result being "mail us a letter and we'll mail you your records when is convenient." This place is a joke and I would recommend anyone looking for a new primary or care to stay the hell away. Their complaints department is just an automated system that likely is never checked, and if you do manage to speak to a real person on the phone, they have zero customer skills. 1 star is too high of a rating.

Fantastic experience: Went in for a physical for the first time in years, the process was seamless and everyone was friendly enough. Dr. Shung is very professional and maybe a bit harsh, but I totally deserved that. Sue from the lab was very friendly and talked me through the bloodwork because I was terrified. Overall a better experience than expected! Will update the review if the billing or follow ups change my mind.

Negative experience: pharmacy staff is not trained well and is super passive aggressive. clarification was asked and Addison was completely passive aggressive and irritated with my confusion. better patient treatment should be taught. never had a problem here before but because of her I will be changing pharmacies.

Negative experience: I went there for years, and I mean years. They were Concord Hillside Medical and we’re in the old building. Now it appears with the corporate culture unless you are a “Smith or Jones” it is open season on your heritage. I went to their lab to have blood work done, and the employee drawing my blood felt the need to criticize my last name, to the amusement of their co-workers. I called and complained. 8 weeks later, same person, same problem. My concern fell on deaf ears.

Negative experience: Since Atrius Health took over our PCP's left and they started doing some shady things with billing. They will now bill separately at a physical exam for every item you discuss. I mentioned a tick bite I had discussed with a nurse over the phone previously, and bingo, got a separate bill for that, even though it was supposed to be part of my physical exam.

Negative experience: After our family being patients here for over 40 years ever since they switched to Attrius Health the care for thier patients has gone way down hill. They turned my 2 year old sick son away and refused to allow him to see his doctor unless we paid them a deposit of $500.00 because his insurance accidentally put him on the wrong secondary plan. After speaking with insurance and being assured they would back date and cover his sick visit once the correct plan was put in place within 48 hours Attrius Health still REFUSED my sick child due to us not having an extra $500.00 available for a deposit. I am extremely disappointed as i loved my childrens pediatrician (whom was also my pediatrician) but the Attrius Health company has no place in healthcare especially when it comes to children!!! They do not care about thier patients ,they only care about money! If i could of given no stars I absolutely would of as they don't even deserve the one star. Horrible Horrible do not recommend especially for children.

I use my real full name with all my reviews , lets see how that goes.

Positive experience: I take my daughter here for her pediatrician. It is great when you're there. They are primarily on-time and ready to go. The downside is (as many have stated) the phone and phone wait time. As I sit here, I've been on hold for 14 minutes just to tell someone that I needed to talk to a nurse...they answered and put me on hold again to transfer me to a nurse. Getting someone on the phone with pediatrics is a nightmare.

Negative experience: I’ve seen Dr Gomez for years. She’s ok. They do try to “encourage” you to see “their specialist’s” but I’m not seeing Specialists all of the time so hasn’t been an issue. The front desk of the internal medicine when you check out are extremely rude. You just sit or stand there waiting and they don’t even acknowledge you. Even when they don’t have another patient. I just had my physical and when I was checking out I actually had to interrupt their personal conversation because I had waited and waited with no acknowledgement. A simple; “I’ll be right with you” so that the patient knows, they know, your there, would do. This happens every time! They act like they are doing you a favor by doing their job. Ridiculous!

Positive experience: I think HV in Concord does a very good job. I get quality care and many tests done in house. I am not thrilled about often not being able to see local specialists which are in my plan. I have been often happy with in house specialist but they seem to have a high turnover rate. My biggest issue with the company is you often wait 20 minutes on the phone. The online website does offer email contact, appointment scheduling, test results and much more if you do not want to use the phone.

Negative experience: Wow could I rate this place any lower? After 40 years with the system (starting with Harvard Community) We finally called it quits! Neither Cambridge, Watertown, West Roxbury, or Wellesley sink to the low depths of borderline malpractice as this wretched location.Absolutely rude nurses, especially Caroline, who should be in another business where she won't deal with human beings especially ones under duress (Stephanie was not bad though). The are thoroughly non-responsive to questions, phone calls, and needs which resulting in an ambulance visit to the ER. We will miss the fabulous Dr. Kaegi, but will hopefully see him when he goes to a place more deserving of him.

Negative experience: I have had extremely BAD experiences with their Billing Office. The billing office billed my insurance with incorrect codes and the claims were declined so they billed me with the charges. I called my insurance and was told that claims should be resent with correct codes. I call the billing office. But the staff were rude and refused to resend the claims. Finally I had to contact patient relations and eventually they intervened and the charge was dismissed, but really frustrating experiences dealing with the Billing Office!!! Negative experience: I just spent almost an hour in order to make a appointment (this is Friday by the way). In the beginning, there's no one pick up the phone; then I was transferred around in order to reach the CORRECT person for make appointment; then when I finally reached someone who were in charge of making appointment and got to know there's no one available to see me that afternoon (it was only 2 pm at that time). So I was then transferred to a nurse to answer my questions, and this nurse was slow talking and didn't help at all. I told her what I need is to have the lab to do a strep throat test so I can be sure if I have the infection or not. I don't want to sleep in bed with high fever for the whole weekend wondering what's going on. She finally reluctantly make an appointment for me. This is the worst experience! I don't like Harvard Vanguard Concord Office. I had seen doctors in Watertown before, and the staff there were younger and more prompt. Here in Concord everyone is slow-paced, it's like in a nursing house. Sorry I am very mean today because I feel very ill right now.

Positive experience: My family and I have had excellent medical care in the Concord facility, ranging from pediatrics to internal medicine to travel medicine services and more. Although this has not impacted us directly, some of my friends have experienced frustration since they switched from being Concord Hillside to Harvard Vanguard. They each have had 20-30 year relationships with outside specialists for their medical conditions. Their insurance covers these physicians and they want to continue their trusting relationships. When they have been refused referrals to these physicians because Harvard Vanguard wants to keep the referrals to physicians within their own organization. As a result, some people that I know will be switching to primary care doctors who are not within the Harvard Vanguard system.

Fantastic experience: My experience with doctors, nurses, and other staffs in pediatric, general and specialist have been very good. During sickness getting same day appointment is also very quick. Having lab and pharmacy there makes it very convenient too. I also use their online health to communicate directly with our doctor.

Dave Burke 7 years ago

Negative experience: If you are looking for a new Primary Care Physician within the Internal Medicine Department go somewhere else. When calling to schedule an appointment you will be placed on hold for a ridiculous amount of time. You are better off driving there, walking in and scheduling an appointment or send smoke signals. Secondly, if you have an HMO and need a referral this is also a pain in the ass as they have outsourced this function to a group that does not always perform this task accurately. Run now!

Positive experience: Best and worst of a large facility. It's a one-stop-shop kind of place with all specialties covered, including pharmacy but when you call, you feel like you're calling a utility company with three levels of "if you want...X... press Y"

Negative experience: Feeling completely trapped. If I want to continue to see my current PCP then i need to see specials within their 4 walls. They will not refer you even if you have had a long standing relationship with another dr, ex eye dr. My options were to go to their eye dept or find another dr. I guess its about keeping the money within their walls not the comfort level of their patients. My suggestion...if you want to see a specific dr then think twice before picking Harvard Vanguard. Endocrinology and gynecology also an issue. I have yrs of my life with these drs and now im told i can't go there. Gross...they are not about the patient at all. Even after speaking to the operations manager nothing was done. Continuity of Care is not what they believe in its yhe almighty dollar....patients beware!!

Negative experience: Used to be the best place. Now that they are growing is the worse. My primary care cancel my appointment two times, one after another. Second when you have a emergency they never schedule with my primary care, always try to put us with another doctor.

Negative experience: Terrible, horrible, miserable... Such an inefficient system. You will have to go through loops of incompetent operators just to make an appointment. And that's only the first of many hurdles.

Fantastic experience: We love it here! Doctors are all great, billing department is great. Whenever we've had questions or concerns they've helped to explain things in a courteous, friendly manner. My works insurance is difficult to deal with, being able to deal with such helpful people Harvard Vanguard has been great.

Positive experience: 4.5 stars. Excellent location. I love Dr. Allaparthi and her assistant. Check in is super fast/efficient. Pharmacy is on site and meds are available by the time I leave the doctor's office. Almost all of the specialists I need are in one location. I just wish the pharmacy had more extended weekend hours, a pharmacy auto refill/mail away program, a dermatologist, and an endocrinologist would round out the package for my needs.
