Elite Sports Club-Mequon became a part of the Elite Sports Club family in 2005. Thanks to an extensive renovation and addition, our Mequon location is one of the premier sports clubs in Wisconsin accompanied by a friendly, professional staff. The club offers luxury locker rooms, fully-equipped fitness center, complimentary classes, tennis courts, full-sized gym, indoor and outdoor saltwater pools, and all the best amenities.

Negative experience: I've never seen a business office run as poorly as this place, they don't even have a phone you can speak with someone at. They make you do everything through email and don't want to talk with their clients. The poor communication, ineptitude of the membership policies and arrogance of their fee structure is beyond the pale. What a joke.

Negative experience: Watch out or you’ll get billed out of nowhere! They will just charge you even if you are not a member of this club! They decided to auto enroll my kids to summer tennis even though I told them I’m not interested! Emailed them time and time again asking to immediately remove my kids from tennis, before it even started. Of course they didn’t care or reply and are now charging me for tennis without my consent! Watch out they are crooks!!

Negative experience: For a membership that costs between $125 and $150 per month, I expected a significantly better experience. Whenever I do have time to go to the gym, nearly all the workout benches are monopolized by waves of high schoolers. Even if I switch to another room for a while and return later, the situation remains the same—everything is still occupied. As for the spa amenities, the only option available is red light therapy, which I genuinely love. However, booking a session is almost impossible. Reservations open one week in advance, but unless you secure a spot at 6-7 AM on the exact day bookings become available (for example, booking on Thursday for the following Thursday), every slot fills up quickly. If you try to book later in the day, say between 3-4 PM or 6-7 PM, it’s already fully booked—I’m not exaggerating. The only options left are either 5 AM or 10 PM, which is far from practical. To make matters worse, the workout space itself is far too small and consistently overcrowded with high schoolers, making it difficult to get any equipment. On top of that, despite the steep membership fee, members are required to pay extra just to access the tennis courts with friends. I’m willing to invest in a quality gym experience, but this is beyond unreasonable. If I can’t even use the equipment or amenities when I’m available, the value simply isn’t there. I rarely write reviews, but this situation absolutely warrants one.

Negative experience: When i joined they were great. Then my job changed. After 3 months of going my company put me on the road. I have to spend Monday through Friday out of the state. Sometimes leaving on Sunday and coming back on Saturday. I had proof to show it and begged them nicely to cancel my contract but got a firm no. I was willing to pay a cancelation fee or anything they want but they said no you are in a contract and you have to pay. So I'm stuck paying $180 a month for a club I can not use. I talked to the club and then i talked to the main office but they wont budge. If i don't pay it will go to collections.

Negative experience: I have been a member since 2017, moved from Chicago. This location needs some major assessments and updates fast. I canceled my membership this year and I hope the information I provide helps. The vibe and energy around fitness is old culture. The focus on paid kids/family events, tennis, pickleball, with some fitness and a basketball court- is ok, but they need to re-evaluate immediately otherwise they will just be a tennis and pickleball club. All it will take is a LifeTime opening up nearby. Nice group fitness studios, classes are alright but nothing to brag about for the price of membership. The facilities all need updating as far as aesthetics, culture, space, and re-evaluating their equipment purchases - not a gym that brings that vibe like I’m pumped up to be here - equipment is like all out of sorts at this location- dumbbells, dumbbell racks, bosu’s, stability balls, stability pads, etc. Lots of tennis and pickleball courts, 1 basketball court, Locker rooms are nice. they supply towels, body wash/shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, and lotion. Nice indoor pools, hot tub, sauna, and steam room. It’s worth it if any of these are a must. Not worth it for a person just going there for working out in the fitness area- unless it is the closest place to you. I didn’t renew because I needed a place that gave me some energy when I came in, and provides solid equipment. Overall for everything the value is fine. I personally enjoyed the great amenities, but needed more of a modernized gym with younger energy and better equipment.

Negative experience: My husband was a long-time member. He died very unexpectedly 2 years ago. He'd overpaid his balance a lot! But despite a lot of phone calls and emails from me, his widow, and multiple other family members, Mequon Elite has failed to provide a refund almost 2 years later! Sadly, employees there have been as unhelpful as possible in aiding our request to be refunded the $600+ that he overpaid. imo, these actions are so agrevious as to be borderline criminal!

Negative experience: I’m wondering why this gym serves alcohol. Editing and adding to my review.. First of all there are way too many kids there for alcohol to be served. Its not even behind a counter, its in a refrigerator with a glass flip door in the hallway that anyone can open under a camera. I feel this is worth mentioning. So my car died and I wasn't able to get a new one for quite a while and explained this to them, that I had to cancel my membership, and I was forced to pay three months after the fact. I was met with a lot of hostility and no sympathy "for my whoas" I liked going there because they have the hot sauna and the red light therapy bed and I struggle with lymph health a lot. I struggled with the staff being rude. Once I accidentally booked a tennis court vs the red light bed under the app, (that just changed). They gave me the key when I walked in, I used the bed for the 30min and I heard knocking on the door, and I politely said- "occupied!! busy!!" and heard nothing.. after the sesh I headed to the locker room and was gunna drop off the key on the way out because I was a tad early, and I didn't see anyone waiting outside the room.. So Im in the locker room, I just entered and the front desk lady ran up behind me, grabbed me, (my arm) and yelled saying "I stole a lady's appointment" and she held out her hand and yelled "give me the key"! I was shocked and I did give her the key and said Im sorry but I booked it and thats when I got down to it I opened my phone and we went into the app and realized I made the mistake on the (new)app at the time. She just walked away without a word. Not a sorry, nothin. I couldn't go for a few weeks after that, It felt so gross. Just an overall bad experience. If you're thinking of a membership def take a pass.

Negative experience: I've been a member of this club for over 15 years. Some years it was better and some years it was worse. But right now it's getting to the absolutely unacceptable point of mismanagement and almost complete absence of maintenance. 90% of treadmills machines are not working properly, men's steam room is malfunctioning 80 % of the time I'm trying to use it, the whirlpool is overloaded with chlorine or whatever chemicals they are using, the large swimming pool is dirty and temperature is too low most of the time etc. It is getting so bad that my wife decided to cancel her membership completely and I'm considering other options, as well. Hopefully, someone from owners/managers of the club will pay attention and bring the Mequon Elite club to acceptable level...

Negative experience: If I can give zero star to this place, I would, and sadly, they don’t even deserve a one-star. Their service have been going downhill . With such a high price, there is nothing "Elite". The whole club needs some remodeling, showers area is bad, and the steam room needs an update, the swimming pool also needs some good cleaning. The whole club is a big health concern. Towels are with stains or missing from shelves. But the most sad part is personal, reseptionist ladies, especially people who's been working there for a while, are rude, rude,rude, and arrogant.

Negative experience: Elite sports clubs Mequon is just atrocious. The place is really dirty and unsanitary, especially the Tennis Courts. The fitness center is just unprofessional and pathetic, and it looks like they are about to move out of the building. The indoor pool is awful and gives me foot problems. And do not get me started on the camp there. I went to camp, and I hated it. The councilors are unprofessional and terrible at taking at least decent care of the kids. Bullying is somehow tolerated at the camp, and it is so obvious. Regardless, they do nothing. The food that the grill next to the pool serves is atrocious and God awful. They serve WEEK EXPIRED FOOD!!!!! They don't even take card NOR cash. This is 2023, who doesn't use/take card. Anyway, I hope that the problems would be fixed, or maybe even close down.

Negative experience: Such a disappointment! expensive. The indoor pools are disgusting. filthy, run down, malfunctioning equipment, broken tiles, nast grout, rust, cloudy and very cold water. they put some anti slip stuff down on the deck and it makes it look like it is covered in filth all the time (which i’m convinced it is). definitely don’t go barefoot. locker locks never work. seems like they put money into the tennis courts and nothing else. staff unfriendly and dismissive.

Negative experience: This place has gotten so bad that they shouldn't be able to call it "Elite" anything. Many features of the gym equipment are not fully functioning and 9 times out of 10 there are no workout towels in sight. Today, at the Mequon location, I walked around to all locations where there should be fresh towels and there were none. Ultimately I had to go to the front desk to find one. Most days of the week the steam room does not function, which is one of the things I look forward to. This is an issue in both the men's and women's locker room. On note of the lockers, there are many days I have to try multiple lockers to find one that had a functioning keypad and/ or doesn't seem like it's falling off of the hinges. Additionally, the pool and whirlpool area doesn't seem to ever have any lifeguards or any supervision, resulting in a free for all for teenagers to not follow any etiquette. Recently, a group of teen boys were using the whirlpool as there own personal bath/laundry tub, sitting in the whirlpool in there dirty boxer briefs. It was inappropriate and down right disgusting. I notified the from desk attendant of the issue and explained my disgust. I then had her take down my phone number because I requested a callback from a manager. I was never given a courtesy call back. Also, used bandaids in the pools, whirlpools and steam rooms are found far too often. Not good. With an "elite" price tag for the monthly membership, I surely have not been noticing anything about the Mequon Facilty is "elite". Disappointing overall and going to be looking elsewhere.

"you plan to come back in the future, re-joining members are not eligible for any promotions within 6 months of the cancellation date and are not able to visit the club as a guest or participate in any programs within 6 months of cancelling."

Negative experience: Up your game! This gym has gone downhill since new ownership and Covid! Keep the kids from scamp out of the fitness area, put up gym etiquette rules and watch the kids in the halls! Cmon and hire some people- preferably ones with kids who know how to deal with kids! This place shouldn’t be like a 2 star hotel gym

Fantastic experience: Joe Janzen is an outstanding personal trainer at Elite in Mequon. After 50 sessions over a year, he was consistently committed, attuned to my abilities and limits, introduced tons of variety that matched my needs, never pushy, personable, thoughtful. I cannot say enough, truly. I'd recommend Joe all day long. Thank you Joe. I'm in better shape than I have been in a decade.

Negative experience: This gym is a joke!!! Signed up for a year membership. Both locations are not maintained or not monitored. HS kids in there socializing taking up equipment for way too long and none of the attendants do anything about it. I brought it to there attention multiple times with no acknowledgement. Ended up driving an extra 15 minutes to use the other location and still had equipment not maintained. After all those issues I had an unexpected medical issue that requires 6 months of rehab. They would not release me from my contract all they would do was freeze it. Do not waste your time with this gym. Management is a joke and absolutely worthless and the owner can’t even take the time to return a call. One of the worst gyms I ever belonged to. Run for the hills!!!!

Negative experience: Today I went to elite with my friend and while he was checking in I walked through to take a call and was gonna check in after but the lady at the front desk yelled at me and assumed I was just trying to sneak in because of my age. Then later after my workout I went to the front desk and asked for a smoothie because I saw my friend get one and it looked really good, so I asked and she said there not doing them today even though I saw her give my friend one and another man after me later. I felt really bad about myself after because I couldn’t understand why this lady had something against me. I now do not go to this Elite in mequon and after that was rethinking my member ship. She is a middle aged lady with brunette hair and was wearing glasses at the time, I really hope Elite will do something about this. Thank you, Vincent

Negative experience: Today I was at Mequon Elite and I asked the front desk lady for a smoothie and she didn’t wanna make me one. She wasn’t busy at all. In fact, she was sitting on her phone drinking a smoothie. I felt disrespected and sad because I really wanted a pina colada smoothie.

Negative experience: I hate to have to write such a low score review for this place but it has gone completely down hill. I grew up going to this club since the early 2000’s and now come back a few times a year when visiting family from out of state. The paint is peeling and falling apart in the pool area, half the lockers are broken in the locker room, there are hard water stains all over the ceiling in the showers, the timer for swimmers has disappeared, there’s no hand sanitizer in any of the dispensers, the wipes in the gym are always gone, the pool rules signs are so faded from all the chlorine they’ve dumped into the pools (which used to be mostly salt water pools) that you can’t read them, the machines have rust and squeak every rep that you do, no one cleans the workout mats, the fitness classes are meh, the hot-tub is full of sand even after they cleaned it out the day before (not sure how sand gets in there), the steam room wasn’t working at one point during my visit, I could go on and on. As a guest visiting, no one told me about the cancelation policy for attending a fitness class either (which is new). People pay a lot of money for this place, and there are much nicer clubs worth your money. They used to do stocking stuffers for the staff around the holidays where it was a guest pass for 5 visits and the money all went to an employee. I get that policies change with new ownership but that was such an incredible thing to come home to every year, and the tradition was just thrown out the window. This place needs a lot of work, staff needs training, and just an overall cleanup. Wish ownership didn’t just see it as a place to collect money, but cared about what it’s become and training staff. I hope this can be used as a lesson to do better, along with the many other similar recent reviews.

Negative experience: My husband and I were members for 2+ years. We got nickel and dimed for everything. The admin is very inflexible (e.g. we added a family member who ended up moving out of state and had to pay that person's extra $50 fee for 16 months). They failed to document my cancellation request in a timely fashion so I was charged an additional 2 months of dues at the end of my contract. I have been a master swimmer my whole adult life; I never got plantar warts until swimming at the Mequon pool. My husband got them too. Unsanitary and very poor customer service. We switched to WAC

Negative experience: They have good facilities but definitely very poor customer service, rather lack of empathy and care for people's feelings. Joined Elite in March'22. I encountered an embarrassing incident on 6th June in Yoga class, since the class was already booked for 25 spaces couldn't make a reservation. it is common practice in Elite if you cannot reserve, can join if you can find space for your mat. I easily found the space for myself, class started with warm up, suddenly the instructor asked those who haven't registered, to raise hands. I was the only one who raised, clearly there were more than 25 people. She asked me to leave the class since someone who had registered showed up. The instructor didn't bother to ask people to create a space for the one who came late but instead asked me to leave in front of the entire class. Reported the matter several times to multiple people including Jill, the manager and Nancy, following up several times over email, got no response. Then after 2 weeks I emailed again to cancel my membership, since no one cares at Elite about the members' feelings as long as they are getting their money. Immediately I received an email from Jill saying that she was told that I am still waiting for her response and apologized that it happened. I replied her again that i cannot pull myself to go back to the same room from where I was expelled. Since when I went there once after this incident, I couldn't stop tears rolling from my eyes. So, I don't want to put myself in that situation again. Since then I haven't stepped in Elite and don't intend to. I just want to cancel my membership and get the refund of my money. It's been several days now and like before, they ignored my email again and I am stuck paying for the high membership fee for the 'passport couple'. I joined Elite to de-stress myself not to bring back more stress from there. A very interesting thing I noticed, everytime I reported this incident to the staff in Elite, they all said it is shocking and unacceptable and they would definitely do something about it, but as soon as I walked out the door, they all forgot completely about it. Would definitely not recommend this club.

Fantastic experience: I really think this place is a gem. The weight room is super rad and so are the other facilities. I think it’s about timing and figuring that out, sometimes things are quiet and yeah sometimes just very overpacked. So I think overall it’s a great place to get fit and just do the work.

Negative experience: Be VERY aware that you are signing a year long contract. My son is a quadriplegic, has new medical costs, they won't let me out of the contract. Totally my fault for not 'hearing' the long term contract. WAC is monthly. Should have gone back there. Sigh.

Negative experience: If I could give zero stars, I would. My husband and I were in town for a wedding and wanted a gym to go to for a workout while in town. I've had family that were members in the past, and I had not been in years, so I figured it would be an easy option. Talk about pretentious! We were told they are an "exclusive club" and that they don't do day passes. You aren't exclusive. You simply overcharge for a membership and call yourselves a club. I forgot how stuck-up Mequon can be. So happy I don't live there anymore!

Negative experience: I have endless reasons to not join this gym. To name a few, staff is unprofessional and not friendly, the Mequon weight room is so run down and will give you empty promises of updates. The lockers never work. The kiddy pool doesn’t have a fence around it so my toddlers were always running to the big pool so I never felt safe. It’s way over priced for what you’re getting. Be prepared to be stuck in your contract cause they refuse to work with you. Form and fitness In grafton is a way better option with a friendly welcoming staff and better equipment!

Negative experience: I am disappointed for too many reasons to list. I am paying $150 a month and they won’t let me place my account on hold while there are members that are not wiping the machines down after use during a pandemic. I regret not buying a treadmill instead. The daycare is only with reservation and there are limited spaces so the family plan is not working for us either.

Negative experience: The staff is disrespectful and unprofessional and the gym locks you in a year contract which is NOT worth the money. The classes they offer are small and never have openings, and the gym closes early which makes it hard with a work schedule. Would not recommend this gym!

Negative experience: I've been going to Elite Mequon for 2 years. In that time, I've seen it go downhill. Machines go unfixed for a few days, TVs on the machines don't work and staff does nothing. I would take your $100/month elsewhere. Oh, and the lack of communication is a problem too. A sign letting people know that things are being fixed would be useful.

Hi Kerry, We apologize for the inconvenience regarding the TVs on the machines for those 4 days, they are all up and running properly now as the issue on Spectrum's end has been resolved. Any other issues with the machines are immediately reported to our club maintenance team and are resolved as soon as possible, although at times some parts are on back-order and take longer than we'd like to arrive at the club. We are constantly working to further streamline this process to eliminate any downtime.

Negative experience: Looks like a nice place but tried to join this morning and use the facility. They said staff doesn’t get in for a few hours and I could come back then. Kind of shocking. Is the service always like that? Too bad.

Positive experience: On the plus side, this location has amazing indoor tennis courts. If that's your thing, there is no better place to go. This location also has nice pool facilities, beautiful spacious locker rooms, and an amazing aerobic studio. There is ample parking. It is not overly busy. The staff is friendly, competent and well-trained. The facility is clean. There is a towel service. And the keypad locks on the lockers are really convenient and easy to use. On the downside, the fitness room is in need of a major overhaul. The room is depressing. It has little natural light and the walls are painted with nauseating brown tones. The equipment looks old, overused, and it's laid out poorly. The cardio machines area crammed together on one side. If you're looking for a place for weight training, don't bother with this one. You'll be sadly disappointed. For what this club is charging per month to its members, this is inexcusable. There should be top-of-the-line equipment in there. And it should look inviting and aesthetically pleasing. Not like a basement activity room. There are other fitness options in the market which offer much better facilities for this purpose and cost significantly less. Get it together Elite if you want to live up to your name.

Fantastic experience: Best tennis club ( Pro Randy) in the state! All the instructors my kids have are wonderful and work well with kids. Very clean. Friendly helpful staff.

Fantastic experience: Great full service health club, lots of options to support my fitness goals, and my family fitness and athletic interests. Basketball, Swimming, Cardio, great classes, nice facilities, friendly staff. Good value for the dues compared to other offerings in the area.

Positive experience: One of the newest clubs in the Milwaukee area. It's pretty nice, but I came from Minneapolis where Lifetime Fitness is on another level of size and quality so it's hard getting used to these smaller clubs. On the tennis side of things, this club is pretty amazing. All of the Elite clubs are very tennis focused. If you're into lifting, serious lifting, this is not a great option. Lot's of casual gym goers here. The equipment is more on the pulley side of things with a true lack of nice free weight setup. I feel like a big strong meathead at this gym and in most Lifetime clubs I was on the thin side of the spectrum. It's definitely more of a suburban family vibe, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. $99 for a single membership btw.
