Fantastic experience: By far the best massage, acupuncture and wellness’s center on Capitol Hill and in DC. Excellent attentive staff and exquisite facility. Brigit is helping me to recover from long term knee damage from running through combination of massage, stretching and physio. It’s working and have started jogging again and building up to a 5 k and hopefully a half marathon. 2 new treatment rooms have been added and a covered outside room for hosting events.

Lavender Retreat’s facilities are immaculate and the staff are very knowledgeable and excellent with guests. Dr. Shannon Walker did a fantastic job and I will be back in the future. I recommend everyone go here—whether for a massage, facials, reiki or acupuncture there is something for everyone. You will leave feeling refreshed!! Health is wealth!

Negative experience: I was quite disappointed that even if your health insurance has been verified, the first visit is STILL a selfpay! They claim that they will refund the self pay charge once the insurance is verified, but why do I need to have my health insurance verified, still be charged as a self-pay, and then the health insurance has to be verified a second time? That makes absolutely no sense to me. I was attempting to get a location that was closer to home for my biweekly visits (which are unlimited and have a $25/copay for the rest of my life with CareFirst), but having to verify health insurance twice is excessive to me! Of course, insurance is verified by a new provider, BUT ONE TIME, NOT TWICE. Be prepared to be a self-pay with your first visit, even if you have insurance. I'm not accustomed to this type of reception from a business, unless they simply don't want me as a customer. That was the straw that broke the camels back, and thus, my 1 star rating. I Google Review hundreds of companies (please check my name) with my genuine opinions, so I am most familiar with this process and how it works. This is also why Google invites me to review the many businesses I interact with. Thank you. ❓️

Negative experience: *You'll notice that Lavender Spa responded to my message with a note that they don't like "when clients pass on personal issues." In that response they note that I booked online and didn't speak with them to confirm. In fact, I did speak with the front desk rep on 7/24 and confirmed the appointment (including the timing of the massages) on 7/26 before our 7/27 appointments. Maybe the Spa should check their phone records.* Bad service — I've had two massages at Lavender Wellness, and bought one as a gift. My first massage there was middling, and because they are close by I tried again. This time, I booked two massages for my husband and I at the same time. The Club messed up (despite having spoken on the phone with the front desk about this beforehand), and instead of having us go concurrently, had us one after another, so I waited an hour for my massage. The front desk manager said that was my fault (?). After my massage, which was not good, I left an admittedly poor tip for the service — which again, the front desk manager berated me about. Overall, it was an odd high-pressure experience for a poor and extremely over-priced service. I won't give this Club a third try.

Fantastic experience: A peaceful little oasis in our bustling neighborhood. Jaime, the owner, is so kind and warm. She cares deeply about the healing work being done in her space. I see Tuya, who practices with a perfect balance of strength and mindful finesse. If I found a genie, I'd use one of my three wishes to receive her hot stone work on my neck and shoulders every day!

Fantastic experience: Multiple visits for acupuncture, the facility has a lovely Feng Shui influenced ambience. Very clean and inviting. The practitioner is patient, listens and is skilled at her craft. The sheets are warmed and the music soothing. Staff are courteous and very pleasant. Appointment system is very simple and it sends reminders. I find an appointment to be not only therapeutic but also a “leave your mental toxins at the door” experience. Kudos to all!

Fantastic experience: Best prenatal massage, hard to find a good one that actually releases pressure. Really enjoy the acupuncture services as well. I’m sure the non prenatal massage is also amazing. Such a gem to have this place on Capitol Hill!

Fantastic experience: My husband and I have been getting massages here for years. Today I switched from my usual therapeutic massage to a myofascial massage and Claudia was wonderful. Definitely a different type of massage yet she addressed everything we discussed. She spent time with me before the massage to understand my needs and then again after to debrief on her assessment of my posture, tight spots, and how my body responded to the myofascial technique. This is a no frills spot but it is so calming and welcoming. I am so happy they made it through the pandemic. I recommend Lavender Retreat anytime someone is looking for a fantastic massage at a reasonable price point.

She was absolutely amazing! Combined several different massage techniques. Everyone was friendly. Wait time was nonexistent. I would definitely recommend Lavender Retreat.

My sister started seeing her first-so she came highly recommended-and she does not disappoint!

Negative experience: Though booking was easy, got the wrong services. The “therapeutic massage” did not address any of the trouble spots. Had booked for trigger point massage and basically got a weak 1/2 massage. Not worth the price, not even close.

Fantastic experience: We took a trip to DC for a friend's wedding and I was able to book my wife a relaxing 80 minute massage. Price was reasonable and the service we both received was excellent. Would highly recommend.

Negative experience: I would not recommend this business. The massage felt more like just rubbing and applying lotion. I asked for more pressure and to target specific areas, which made it slightly better, but not at all worth the cost. I actually left feeling more stiff in certain areas than when I came in. The environment was clean and relaxing and staff were nice.

Negative experience: I haven't actually been but I had 2 gift certificates that expired during covid. I was very disheartened to hear that they were not going to let me use them, and only after some back-and-forth decided to only let me use part of one of them.

Fantastic experience: I was referred to Lavender Retreat by my neighbor who had previously had a few accupuncture sessions. She raved about the quality of services and the beautiful enviornment. She was exactly right!!! Frances is the best accupuncturists that I have ever come in contact with and the physical environment is exquisitely decorated. I would also like to add that Lavender Retreat is very serious about COVID safety procedures. The COVID test results of all staff members are on display in the main hallway. I have reccommended this place to several people and I will be giving my mother a giftcard for Christmas.

Fantastic experience: I have been going to Lavender Retreat for a little over a year now. All of my experiences have been great and handled with care. My amazing acupuncture sessions, healing reiki sessions, and mindful nutritional guidance, all have been beneficial to my well being. And even now during the pandemic, they take such care to make you feel comfortable, safe and get the treatment you need. Highly recommend this oasis in the city. Also purple is my favorite color.

Fantastic experience: I have been getting regular massages at The Lavender Retreat for over a year. The facility has always been extremely clean and now they are doing an excellent job with COVID. Your temp is taken when you arrive, your given hand sanitizer and a sanitized pair of sandals. Everyone is wearing a mask and you are required to wear one when you are face up during the massage. I’ve been seeing Mr. Chu (Jason) for deep tissue therapy and he is fantastic! He’s able to work an area really well without causing much discomfort. He also stretches me out and taught me some stretches to do at home. I have seen other therapist who were fabulous and even received acupuncture. Lavender Retreat truly cares about whole body wellness.

Fantastic experience: I picked up party platters from the Connecticut Ave NW location last night for our church breakfast this morning. Even though the samosas, kibbeh and shawarma wraps were cold (we're doing renovations at the mo), it was all DE-LIC-IOUS. The platters are great value for times when you're guess-timating the numbers! Will do this again.

Fantastic experience: When we were looking for a massage location to send two of our clients, we were nervous we wouldn't find a place that would live up to our expectations to provide a nice, clean, relaxing experience. Luckily a friend recommended this local spot, and WOW we are so happy she told us about the Lavender Retreat! The entire team at this hidden gem went above and beyond to make sure the massage experience was as tranquil and enjoyable as it could be for our clients, and our clients were thrilled with their massages. We could not have asked for more and look forward to sending any of our clients looking for a great massage to the team at Lavender Retreat.

Positive experience: Only street parking is available. The actual establishment is so small we were asked to leave while my grandmother got her massage. But there are many therapeutic items for sell. Lastly cash is not a preferred choice of payment.

Loved that all the products they sold were locally made too! My only complaint was my massage felt rushed. Everyone has a bad days sometimes. I think I’ll still come back though!

Fantastic experience: I did their integrated package and it was a fantastic experience, well worth your money. With the integrated package, I got 5 weeks of acupuncture as well as at least one visit with every other member of the staff and I don't have a single complaint. I in fact, went back for another round of acupuncture after my package expired and plan to book another massage. Everyone there was very respectful, knowledgeable and calming. The energy of the retreat is very relaxing and centering. They really take your whole being into account and help to heal your mind body and spirit. They have been very helpful on my journey to heal from a traumatic experience and allowing my self to relax, unwind, detoxify and recenter my energy. In the words of Donna Meagle "TREAT YO SELF!"

I've been to other spots, but nothing compares to the relaxing atmosphere and it even smells like lavender. I've been going for over 2 years and can say that all the massage therapists are talented and attentive to what you need. I book with whomever fits my schedule including Linda, Bonnie and Stephen. After one session you'll want to go back! I typically buy the 5 pack to save a bit of money per massage. They've recently started selling Lavender products and even have another service that makes custom dress shirts and suits called Book A Tailor. The suits are very reasonable.
