Our practice provides primary care for adults and children and a full range of medical and surgical specialty care.

Our comment from Nutrifinder.net about Atrius Health Dedham:

Atrius Health Dedham is a healthcare facility that has garnered a diverse array of feedback from its patients. Many patients appreciate the clinic's dedicated medical staff, especially highlighting individual doctors for their professionalism and patient care. Dr. Schusterman, for instance, has been praised for his outstanding care for children, and Dr. Chatterjee is noted for her compassion and attentiveness.

Patients report positive experiences with the support staff as well, stating that many are friendly, efficient, and caring during treatment. The facility is recognized for its cleanliness and well-organized setting, making visits generally comfortable.

However, there are notable concerns regarding the service quality. Several patients expressed disappointment with appointment management, citing issues such as long wait times, difficulty in reaching the administrative office, and a lack of timely follow-up regarding test results. Some reviews mentioned unprofessional behavior from certain staff members, which detracted from their overall experience.

In conclusion, while Atrius Health Dedham boasts commendable physicians and supporting staff who genuinely care about their patients, there are operational challenges that need attention to enhance the quality of service further.

Nutrifinder.net cannot guarantee that the professionals and companies listed in the directory have adequate training or health certifications. Most of the companies that appear in the directory are nutritionists and dieticians, but there are also other types of professionals related to the nutrition sector. We recommend that you request the membership number of the professional you are going to attend to perform your treatment or consent.

Negative experience: Dr Lily Wong is a horrible PCP. It starts with me coming in for a facial skin problem, she yelled at me to put my mask back on when I tried to show her it, the only reason I was there was to have my facial skin problem evaluated and she refused because of masking... Now she won’t comply with my state-run program requirements that I need my PCP to participate in because she thinks she knows better than the state program. There’s no wonder she was the only pcp that had availability, I’m sure I’m not the first to try to end care with her. Her NPs are incredible but she is the worst, I can’t believe she’s still employed after all these complaints about her I’ve seen

Negative experience: I have driven from NY and paid for care at Atrius in Watertown because my primary care doctor and her team are phenomenal with my rare condition. I love Beth Israel hospital for the same reason. So incredibly considerate and patient and respectful of the patient. Not here. I will NEVER be seen by Lindsay S Brunel again, and I have filed a formal complaint with corporate. I outlined in detail that made Lindsey impatient, that I am VERY fragile, due to Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, and forbade ALL touch, other than ONE type: gently pulling on my ear to look inside and see if I have an ear infection. My right ear has had complications due to baurotruama incurred about 2.5 years ago now, and an allergic reaction set it off. Lindsay argued that she needed to be “thorough.” I refused any and all touch, except for that one touch, and she agreed. I also explicitly stated that palpating or pressing my body is contraindicated for someone with EDS because our tissues are fragile and tear, sprain, etc very easily. She proceeded to palpate around my ears, and then tugged the right ear to ask “does this hurt.” I told her I wanted her to stop. She refused! She CONTINUED TUGGING and said “I need to know if this hurts.” No. No she needs to be reprimanded and retrained on how the patients body is NOT the doctors. It’s MY body. You may not touch my body without my consent, and you may NEVER touch it against my explicitly refusal of consent. Wow. Entirely unprofessional. I went down for a blood draw after and had a far better experience with phlebotomy. Even she understood the whole: “ no tourniquet needed, because that will dislocate my elbow, and please don’t press or pull on my body. Just put the needle in.” I received great care from the phlebotomist. My right ear now hurts to even wear ear plugs! Thats how strained it feels! My jaw subluxed trying to eat dinner, and sleeping on my side last night. I hope she is held accountable. There is zero excuse for injuring a patient because you did something she told you not to do to HER body. Zero excuse. I wish people like her who hurt others by violating their boundaries and bodies could know what it feels like to be injured in this way. It’s vulnerable. It’s painful. I’m the one who is going to have to wait while my body heals from HER injuries to MY body. No person should have to go through that. Not okay.

Fantastic experience: Dr Schusterman is amazing and really helped our son. The staff was cordial and helpful. I would highly recommend their services.

Negative experience: I had an exam scheduled 1 year out at that location. 2 days before, they called me to reschedule which I did. Days before my rescheduled appointment I confirmed the appointment and had proof of confirmation. I show up for my exam, the person at reception tells me that my appointment is next week. She then started arguing with me that I had my date wrong until I presented her with proof of my confirmed appointment. That's when she took the time to check what happened. Tuns out the day before one of their employees rescheduled my appointment, I wasn't notified and knew nothing about it. They refused to see me for my exam, which takes 16 minutes by the way. They did absolutely nothing to fix their problem. I ended up scheduling at a different location that had an opening for the next morning. Apparently their manager was going to follow up with me about that, I have yet to hear from them. I am definitely leaving Atrius. That place has become a pure joke.

Negative experience: Unacceptable and unprofessional behavior from the nursing staff! Certain individuals clearly should not be in healthcare. My mom had knee surgery, and her incision is bleeding. Despite having an emergency appointment scheduled for over an hour ago, there is no one here to assist us. This is disgraceful!

Negative experience: The administrative end of this practice is run extremely poorly. I have repeatedly been left on hold, messages and requests for medication renewals via the online portal have gone unanswered, and any every attempt to address this directly with staff has been a complete dead end. I have been a patient here since I was a kid, its really discouraging to see whats happened here.

Negative experience: We went to see Dr. Hurst in the ENT practice. She was not gentle in handling our 7 week old and as a result she cut the corner of his mouth during his exam. He was extremely uncomfortable during the whole procedure and nothing was done to help him. Do NOT take your infant to see her.

Negative experience: Had an appointment specifically for cortizone shot for my tennis elbow. I made the appointment 2 months ahead. Drove 40 miles each way to this place. saw a PA named Kim A. Kealey. After 2 minutes, she refused to give me the shot and tried to give me lessons about long term effect. I am retired and don't need lessons from anyone. I shut her down and left. will never go back to that place.

Negative experience: I went to Dedham pediatrics yesterday to bring my daughter in for an appointment. We go to another facility but since it’s winter and appointments fill up fast. This was the quickest and soonest appointment they had. The lady that brought us in and had to swap my child’s nose was so aggressive and rude. My child was in complete discomfort. Slammed the door after leaving too. The nurse practitioner that came in, was in experienced and has no idea how to deal with infants and children. She was aggressive trying to look at my child and wanted to poke and prod at her after my child was in clear distress and uncomfortable the way she was trying to examine her. I will not return back to Dedham peds or office. Worst experience I’ve ever had and I’ve been with Atrius health for over 20 years.

Negative experience: This place has become a joke. They never have sick visits in pediatrics. They care about quantity over quality for sure. I’m happy I found a smaller pediatric office for my children. It really is a shame because Dr. Shusterman is an incredible physician but does it even matter when we can’t get in to see him?

Josh Crowley 2 years ago

Negative experience: This firm has way too many patients. They forget to give care and get to the solution of someone’s problem. They want to make sure to bill your insurance and keep scheduling appts. As many as possible. I’m tired of biting my tongue. This is not a good doctors office and the overall low rating reflects that.

Negative experience: I saw Jill Hartwell (PA) and she was extremely dismissive and horrible. I came for terrible back pain that went down my leg she said there was no way I could sit the way I was sitting if it was spinal related. She literally laughed at me and her notes were not accurate to what I reported. Luckily I got a second opinion from a different doctor and got an MRI found out I had two herniated discs and was not crazy after all. If you want to be listened to and respected she is not the one for you

Negative experience: If I could give this place 0 stars I would. As a caretaker for my 89 year old grandmother my life is actually difficult because of Dedham Medical. Each month I have issues renewing her medication where I have to call sometimes 3 times and when I show up to CVS it still may not be there. They randomly send it to other CVS locations, even if I have never used or been there before. Nothing goes smoothly here, response is sparse on their online system, they are extremely slow to call you back if at all. The on call nurses for emergencies are probably the most responsive but each time I call I am usually transferred around to multiple people only to most likely not be helped. This has been the case for years. All I want is to be able to once a month get prescriptions renewed without issue and sadly this has never been the case, as someone who manages multiple medications as a caretaker the issues just do not stop, this should be a simple and straightforward process where I can just call once, get things renewed and show up at CVS and have them be there, no such luck.

Negative experience: On May 18th, I had an appointment with Dr. Lily Wong set at 8am. Typically, it only takes 20 minutes for me to drive there, however there was heavy traffic that day and I arrived at 8:10am. That morning, I left the house at 7:10 am but the traffic was so bad it took an hour for me to get there. I was only 10 minutes late yet they refused to treat me and sent me home immediately before I had the chance to explain. On previous visits, I’d have to wait 30 or more minutes just to meet with the doctor but just because I was 10 minutes late I was sent away. This is completely unfair and was caused by uncontrollable factors. This place has wasted my time and in order to sign up for an appointment again, I’ll have to wait for a long time. Words cannot express how angry and disappointed I feel.

Fantastic experience: Been going here for years, and I'm always impressed by how competent the place is. Seriously: Other medical clinics are notorious for losing information, but here everything is on MyChart, so it's easy to keep an eye on everything and share info with other docs at Atrius. And—most importantly—the staff actually knows how USE the darn app! (I had this issue with Fenway Health, where they transitioned to MyChart but none of the providers knew a thing about it... Drove me nuts.) Plus it's clean here, and everybody is super sweet; I've never had trouble finding where I need to go. My only complaint is that the WiFi is terrible, so calling an Uber can take an eternity—but it's a small price to pay (and if you have a car, the issue is moot anyway, so). I'd rather visit a medical center in the middle of nowhere and receive quality care from a provider at Dedham Medical, than go someplace in the city where my connection's great but everything else isn't. Literally, when I need to see a specialist that isn't my PCP the first thing I do is run a Google search to see if Dedham Medical has a doctor in that field. I could not gush about this place enough.

Fantastic experience: A patient of this place for yrs. Had upcoming visit . Filled out an on line questionnaire about my physical , mental health etc . I was surprised and impressed to get a call from Susan , Dr Tarnells nurse . She got a red flag about some of my answers on the form and felt the need to reach out esp where I had cancelled my upcoming appt. She listened , guided me and spent time making sure I was taking care of the issues and rescheduled my appt very quickly. Very caring and intuitive of the health and needs of a person.

Fantastic experience: DMA is competence personified with 5-star medical personnel, limited to no wait times and an environment conducive to relaxation and reassurance. It is not hyperbole to assert that DMA has enhanced + protected my physical health. Under no circumstances would I ever consider another entity for my medical care; my PCP is an exceptional Human Being who understands there is more to her job than X-rays and flu shots. Thank God for Dr. Hackman, I owe her my life and I'll ensure she didn't exert all this effort on my behalf for naught. RESPECTFULLY Steven Bernazzani

Negative experience: Unfortunately needed to be seen by their mammography department/ radiology. I stopped going here because of them yelling across the office to each other,,including about patients. Among other issues. I needed to be seen here again, due to scheduling issues. After ultrasound, was haphazardly given a towel to drape myself as a male radiologist entered the room. Even this bref interaction left me feeling disappointed in their lack of professionalism.

Negative experience: I am so pleased I don't have to deal with Dedham Medical any longer. I actually had a doctor tell me he couldn't help me, just wanted to give more medications and actually HUNG UP on me. I will never recommend this place. And notice that I will not get any feedback just like all the other complaints. Cracker Jack Box Doctors!!!

Negative experience: Some caring, competent medical staff, but there seems to be a problem within the Atrius system itself. Who's handling the details? From lost MRI results on my back years ago(waited 3 months to hear that gem), to still waiting for someone to call me about blood tests 10 days later.

Mike (elite-mafia) 4 years ago

Negative experience: Rude and unhelpful doctors who won't even refill prescriptions without requiring you to see a "specialist," who was booked out for months. Doctor insulted me to my face when I told her she was being ridiculous. If you want help, go somewhere else. If you want a doctor who can't do anything other than refer you to other doctors, this is the place for you! Also they all use the same line, like they are all a bunch of corporate robots. "I don't feel comfortable doing that"

Negative experience: I dont know why but majority of the receptionists (except pediatrics department) at dedham medical dedham location have a really terrible attitude. Every single time i called to make an appointment, they have been rude, unprofessional and rushed. If you are unhappy with your job get a different one!!! Jesus! I will never recommend dedham medical to anyone for this reason.

Fantastic experience: I had to go to the lab for bloodwork and had the most caring phlebotomist ever, Margarita. As someone who is difficult to take blood from and has a history of fainting, Margarita made sure I was laying down comfortably and had some apple juice for after the blood draw. I expressed to Margarita that usually when I get my blood taken they have the best luck with my hand and a butterfly needle, and she listened to me! I’ve had phlebotomists before who disregard what I’m saying and go for my arms first, only to poke me over and over again. I really appreciated Margarita for taking into consideration what I was saying since I know my body best. I cannot say enough how she turned this usually dreaded experience into something so easy and painless. Thank you to the lab and Margarita for all you do!!

Negative experience: I have lost all faith and confidence in them. My parents have been patients there for years and once their pcp was leaving they were left in limbo. No one to refill their prescriptions and they could not find out where their doctor had gone...nothing. !! Very upsetting for patients in their late eighties.... how could they pick a new pcp now. Very very disappointed and annoyed at the way they were treated...very uncaring...just wanted them to select a new pcp. No thank you...

Negative experience: I had visited this office 4 times in two weeks seeing 4 doctors and nurses complaining of ear pain and having a fever with swollen glands. I had paid the copays and for multiple labs but still no one addressed the severe ear pain I was having. I was told to take time and rest, that is all and the fever and swelling would stop with Advil. After two weeks I had no choice but seek medical help from an office elsewhere in which they told me i had a double ear infection that was so bad I needed double the medication and steroids to combat this. Fever and swelling broke once I was given the proper medication, but don’t worrry Dedham medical issued me many bills for the labs done. No one will call me back from the patient advocacy line, no one will help with the gross mishandling I got, I will be looking elsewhere for a new provider who actually cares about their patients and listens rather than get people in and out as quick as possible.

Negative experience: Had really bad pain in my calves and my primary told me to see a vasular doctor so I made appointment and it was a three week wait and I seen the nurse practitioner Sara Benedict what a waist of time she looked and said there is nothing obvious and if you have any past test you can send and I will review . And I would go back to your primary.. I was shocked hit 45 minutes of traffic for that. Never again...

Fantastic experience: My visit to Dedham Medical was very pleasant from the moment I checked in until I left. The radiology technician was friendly, professional, and efficient. Dr Chapman listened carefully to my issues, explained his treatment, and then carried out that treatment professionally. I highly recommend this doctor and Dedham Medical Center.

Negative experience: I got some simple lab tests done over a week ago. I was told it would only take a day or two. Since then I’ve emailed the office 5 times and called 4 times with ZERO response from either. The only time I got through I made it extremely clear that they can just leave the results of the test in an email or in a voicemail— they said a doctor would call back the same day. I received a call at 458pm (two minutes before they close) with zero information and them asking me to call back AGAIN. I did at 501pm, however they were closed. I am going to switch providers this is the most unprofessional service I have ever received. It’s almost as if they are actively avoiding any sort of clerical or administrative work. Bizarre and unprofessional. Horrible service, don’t bother.

Positive experience: On my follow up visit both me AND my mother (who was my driver since I have a broken right ankle) received OUTSTANDING care from Dr. Morin and Connie in Ortho. They went above and beyond. I also commend and appreciate ALL that Ginny in registration did for us. She is a very kind woman who went out of her way to help us even though she was in a hostile situation. I have to say, with all this helpfulness I unfortunately experienced the nasty behavior of Rachel in registration. This women should not be in a position with face to face customers. Not only did she create a hostile work place for Ginny, she told her to be quiet in front of other patients, shh'd Connie when she was helping with central registration for my 74 year old mother, but she is a nasty sour faced woman. Very unfortunate that someone like that can overshadow the good that others do.

Douglas Turet (The Help Coach) 6 years ago

Fantastic experience: As a medical massage practitioner who is both the son of a noted doctor and someone who was born with an unusually hypersensitive nervous system, my standards for what constitutes quality medical care are, admittedly, a lot higher than those of most people. At Dedham Medical Associates, in general, and in the care of orthopedic nurse-practitioner Jennifer Morrison, in particular, those standards are not only met, but routinely exceeded. It’s not just that I can consistently count on Jennifer and her colleagues to do exceptionally fine work, each and every time that I “zig, when I should’ve zagged” and wind up in their care; it’s that I can also count on them to be sincere, down-to-earth human beings, who can empathize without sounding phony, laugh along when they’re having a good day, or apologize for not being at their best, when they’re not. And that degree of “human-ness” just makes being their patient all the more special. As I’ve already noted, I’m a man who’s built his life around caring for people and helping them to get out of pain, stay out of pain and live easier lives, so I know when someone in a related field is doing their best, or just treading water and waiting for the end of the day to arrive. At DMA/Dedham, and in the care of Jennifer Morrison, I know that I’ll be cared for — and just as importantly, ABOUT — and that’s why I don’t bother looking elsewhere. After all, once you’ve found the very best, what else is there to look for?

Negative experience: I have been at this place since 10 am, for an appointment at 10.40, yes I got here early but it’s now 11.43 and I am still waiting to be seen!!! Ridiculous. Negative experience: Long wait for specialist, then the run of the mill excuse"were running behind". Ortho. Specialist does not care about you except making sure the bill gets paid. Did not listen even though I have been to 3 independent medical evaluation. Doctor did not disclose that the shot could increase pain and last for 3+ week. BEWARE OF THE ORTHOPEDIC DOCTOR. Positive experience: The medical team is fine. The location is fine. The parking lot is a bit of and organized mess. The admin support is atrocious. Positive experience: Downstairs the woman who checked me in was really lovely, patient, and kind. Once I went upstairs it was like the environment changed and the people I had to speak with were so rude. I asked a woman upstairs if I needed to check in with her (It was my first time visiting this location) and she put her hand up and said "who are you seeing" very short and rude like she couldn't be bothered with me. The doctor wasn't helpful at all and kept telling me she needed proof of my conditions and how I don't have access to my medical records. I tried to tell her that I do in my patient portal with another hospital and she kept treating me like I was an idiot. I went home and sure enough I do have ALL of my records. I am a health and wellness blogger, I study health at Stanford, I have my degree and honestly I know my body better than someone I just met. Atrius health has been one of the worst companies when it comes to health if you have actual conditions. If you just need a check-up and are fairly healthy then they're okay. -- I saw Dr. Elizabeth Tarnell

Fantastic experience: Very nice doctors. Very caring, helpful, and understanding doctors and nurses. Dr. Elizabeth Tarnell is one of the best doctors there is at Dedham Medical Associates.

Negative experience: I didn't like how difficult it was to get a hold of the pediatricians. The nurses were not friendly over the phone and gave conflicting information from what the doctors said. When raising concerns they were passed off as not understanding. I gave my son otc anti colic drops that are safe and was questioned who told me I could do that. Made me feel like I wasn't allowed to make decisions for him. Delayed care for my infant has resulted in eating aversions and now with his new pediatrician I feel like we are actually treating the problem. I was given incorrect advice about allergies and continued to feed my son something he was intolerant to. So many issues that I wish I didn't brush off an switched sooner.

Negative experience: After my primary care doctor (well known around the state) at another practice unexpectedly died a few years ago, I switched to Dedham Medical and have been a patient for almost 3 years. This practice has been unprofessional / slow-to-respond, especially during emergency type of situations. I understand nurses/doctors are human, but why does it literally take 3 calls over 4 hours to confirm I should be prescribed a cough medicine? Or if I call in to say I'm having trouble breathing (walking pneumonia) and went in early to get chest X-Rays done, why is the response "the doctor is busy with appointments, so he'll get back to you sometime this afternoon"? I also had my thyroid probed for possible cancerous tissue last year and the doctor probed the wrong area. I have not been impressed with this practice since I arrived and will be switching to another practice...even if that means driving further away. I'm very disappointed.

Fantastic experience: Dr Perman's office is the greatest. They have been treating me for years with the utmost care and professionalism. The facility is new and state of the art with a lab available in the building and I've never had to wait very long. The MyHealth website us a great way to monitor your yearly health progress. Highly recommend DMA.

Positive experience: Dr. Forman is great. The PT department, however, leaves much to be desired. No call backs, serious lack of communication regarding test results.

Fantastic experience: I switched pediatricians from Needham Pediatrics to Dedham Medical and I could not be happier. We see Dr Martha Perry and she has handled my teen girls wonderfully. I had a very difficult experience at Needham Peds with my older daughter until I finally took her, on my own, to Children's Hospital and met an amazing women who unfortunately, could not take us on a general patients. She recommend us to Dedham Medical and for 3 years I have been very pleased.
