Our comment from Nutrifinder.net about Atrius Health Norwood:
Atrius Health Norwood offers a blend of care and service that has garnered mixed feedback from patients. Many users have praised the proficiency of the medical staff, particularly highlighting individual physicians who exhibit compassion and thoroughness in their approach. Strong recommendations are given for several practitioners, including Dr. Christopher Morrison, who is noted for his dedication to patient wellness, and Dr. Nobita Chatterjee, whose compassionate care has made a significant impact on her patients.
However, there are consistent reports of dissatisfaction regarding administrative and billing practices. Some patients have experienced frustration with high bills for basic services, unexpected charges, and prolonged wait times for appointments, leading to a sense that the focus may be more on profit than patient care. Issues with staff rudeness, particularly at the front desk, and delays in communication further contribute to the negative experiences reported by several patients.
Despite these challenges, Atrius Health Norwood maintains a commitment to improvement and encourages patient feedback to better their services. The facility is recognized for its convenient location and for offering a wide range of services within its network, making it a significant resource for many families.
- Pros: Compassionate and knowledgeable doctors, a variety of medical services, and convenient appointment scheduling.
- Cons: Issues with billing transparency, administrative inefficiencies, and inconsistent staff attitudes.
Atrius Health Norwood: Reviews
Negative experience: Don’t go here if you want to avoid unusually high bill for basic services. Charged 529$ for a routine pregnancy office visit, in addition to huge seperate bill for labs. They charge twice for ultrasound - one for abdomen, one for vaginal because they dint see anything in abdominal. Also, they bill after six months of service performed. Until then you are not even aware of bills you are gonna get.
Negative experience: I had a satisfactory physical exam around this time last year. I tried to pickup an additional 21 hours with my current employer, who asked me to have signed a simple form that I've had a physical within a year. That is a requirement for working in the residences. I was surprised that the Internal Medicine office absolutely refused to sign the stupid paper for a previous physical. They wanted me to come in for an uncovered "physical follow up." $387 for a signature? To lift a finger? LOL. The arrogance. That is extortion, so naturally I cancelled the follow up. Thanks for blocking me from being able to improve my finances and income! I am used to a higher standard of care and quality. I guess they saw the opportunity for an easy cash grab and couldn't help themselves. I hope it was worth it! I hereby give this location my WORST and lowest review score.
Fantastic experience: My PCP received moved over to Atrius! Had to see a covering doctor for the day…. Dr. Higgins! Highly recommend , he was fantastic. Felt like he really understood me and my needs at the time and was very compassionate.
Negative experience: I ended up here when Compass Medical closed down since my PCP moved here. My original PCP is retired now, and my other PCP has been good along with the other doctors I've seen. Recently I had wrist pain, so I set up an appointment with my old orthopedic surgeon since the pain felt like it was related. I reached out to Atrius to get a referral so my insurance would cover my new appointment. Atrius contacted me and told me that I needed to schedule an appointment with my PCP to get the orthopedic referral outside of the Atrius network, so I took an hour and a half out of my busy work day to go to my PCP office, and they sent in the referral for me. A couple days later I check in to see what the status of the referral was, and they couldn't answer me so they told me they would get someone to call back. They never called me back so the next day (the day before my orthopedic appointment) I reached back out, and they actually did get someone to call me back this time. I was told that they couldn't give me the referral because I had an HMO, so I reached out to my insurance and they told me that the doctor I wanted to see is in network, so it is up to my PCP to give me the referral. I called Atrius back up and they told me they would get a supervisor to call me, but they never did so now I am going to have to reschedule my appointment. Long story short, Atrius prioritized having an extra visit in their network and more money in their pocket over letting me receive better care from a doctor with knowledge of my history. I question whether this is even legal. This is not a medical group that I want to be part of, I will search for a PCP outside of the Atrius group who actually cares about my health.
Dear Matthew,
We are sorry to hear you had a less than excellent experience. We would like to learn more and invite you to speak with our corporate patient relations department. They can be reached at 617-559-8440 or [email protected].
Negative experience: Their support staff, especially at the intake and phones are horrible. Rude and downright unpleasant. Love the doctors, can’t tolerate the front staff.
Negative experience: Beware, office will attempt to bill you for service is not performed to scam you out of hundreds of dollars or more. Find another provider. Copy paste customer service, as seen below, is all they offer. I’ve called and emailed and received no response. You have been warned.
Thank you for taking the time to share this important feedback with us.
The provision of exceptional care and service to all of our patients is of the utmost importance to us. We pride ourselves on delivering high quality care and service, thus a report of dissatisfaction is of great concern to us.
We would like to discuss the matter with you further. Please contact us at 617-559-8440 or [email protected] at your convenience.
Positive experience: My Dr retired recently and I’ve known him since I was a teenager,Dated his sister and felt like I was with friends when I got there. He would usually not make me see a specialist and would do all testing in house. I go to this Atrius in Norwood and get told I need to see a specialist to get a prescription filled. But the good news it’s don’t its job they just aren’t comfortable prescribing it. Miss my old Doc . It’s like a factory. But that’s what’s out there.
Negative experience: We needed meds for our autistic child urgently. Nurses were lazy and rude. Gave us a story but no meds. Back and forth to CVS because they wouldn't follow up and call us back. Dr. Jonas is no better. On vacation and of no help. Will look elsewhere.
Fantastic experience: Jamires (Dedham med Norwood) made my day. She was so patient and polite. She helped me get across what I was trying to say when I was having serious brain fog and mental blockage. So often we have people who are in a hurry to get to the next person (which is understandable) but on this day, I just needed someone to take the time to help me convey what it is I wanted to say and Jamirez was such a blessing. Thank you
Negative experience: They cancel appointments and don’t respect your time.
Fantastic experience: Great and fast service. All staff has been great with me and my kids every time we’ve needed them.
Negative experience: I came in feeling extremely weak, with throat pains and a headache. I was only there for 20 minutes and they only ran 2 tests on me which came back negative and refused to do any more testing. I felt like my appointment was extremely rushed when there was only one other family in that hospital. Do better. They recommended me ibuprofen which i had already been taking. My time was wasted and i left with no answers to my sickness.
Fantastic experience: Great medical facility. We are patients of both pediatric and OBGYN offices and are very happy with both.
Negative experience: I hate this place already. Been forced to go to them & I have a medical diagnosis I’m supposed to be seen for but I’ve been trying for an entire week to get ahold of them. They do NOT answer phones.
Fantastic experience: I have been using Ateius for years. They are wonderful, I can always get an appointment and I feel like my doctors really listen to me when I'm having issues.
Fantastic experience: I called asking about a piercing for my teenager. The front nurse was extreme helpful and went out of her way to get me the answers I needed, even calling me to leave a voice mail next day to let me know what the doctor said. I appreciated that so much. To Dr Wagner and her staff- Thank you!
Negative experience: Paid my copay to wait over half hour in a room where a doctor never touched me and just was rushing. My son had sabe experience went to expensive appoint for his hands to be checked and waited forever to see doctor for less than 15 minutes! The world went mad! There is not empathy, compassion, nothing! Everywhere you look reviews are the same
Negative experience: The whole place has gone down hill. The reception and phone staff are some of the most ignorant people I have ever dealt with.. They can not take a message correctly, they act like a 5 yesr old trying to learn to read. They actually fight with you about a medication you are on. They will tell you there is no documentation of your call even when you are on your second week and 10 calls trying to resolve an issue. There is NEVER anyone above them available. This seems to be because they are still working from home and I am sure their manager does not want to work at their house with kids running around and the rep yelling back and forth to the nanny about dinner. Get off your duff and get back into work. The Wait time for them to answer the phone is most always longer then 30 minutes.. Hum, are you ignoring the phones while you fold your laundry or wash your dishes? They turn something thay should be resolved in 5 mins into a 5 day ordeal. The muscular sketal department need lessons on how to speak to and deal with people. You are going to get what you give ladies!!!! Whenever you ask for a Manger they tell you no!! They need to get off their high horse and be held accountable for their actions and mistakes.I have never had a medical assistant chase me to the elevator and keep egging things on for their mistake. I have in the muscular Skelatel department and I AM THE WORNG PERSON TO CHASE WITH YOUR MOUTH YAPPING AT ME. I will always stand up for and advocate for myself. You then put documentation in my medical record that I am rude. This interfesrs with my standard of healthcare because every doctor will then judge me on a one sided story. The doctors can not treat you when they are not getting the correct info because the Staff can not take or relay messages correct. They also have a huge issue with getting back to you. I have been with DMA for 25-30 years. .time to bail and I would not reccomend this trashy practice to the homeless never mind someone with insurance that pays these people for their horrible performance... I like my pcp but his LPN and other doctors in this practice are not excemp from poor behavior or practices.
Negative experience: 1 hour waiting then I got a 5min consultation.
Negative experience: Terrible practice. Been coming here for the past 10 years and it has gradually gotten worse. They will make you wait an hour after your scheduled appointment time and then rush through your visit. Doctors and care assistants are careless and not pleasant. I had a serious health concern that they brushed off and basically told me to kick rocks. Wasted my entire afternoon here for absolutely no help, might as well have not even came in. PLEASE go to another provider, Dedham Medical is HORRIBLE.
Fantastic experience: Best thing about Dedham Medical Norwood is Mary Gosney. She is a midwife, and leads the midwifery group at Dedham medical. She is by far the most caring, intelligent, thorough and respectful person in the medical field, that I have ever met. Most medical professionals, spend a few minutes with you, without truly hearing and meeting the needs of the patient. Mary goes above and beyond for each of her patients. I was referred to her by a satisfied patient and I highly recommend her for all of your Ob/gyn needs!!
Negative experience: Kindly post the hours on your Google listing page. It would save folks their valuable time. I drove for 30 minutes on a Sunday to drop off a lab specimen. You facility was closed. Specimen wasted. Please post your hours. Thank you.
Fantastic experience: Went for labs in and out i no time loved the pheblotomist ver gentle and no bruising after
Fantastic experience: Can’t say enough good things about my experience at Atrius urgent care this a.m. I called my primary care yesterday and I got an appointment for 9 a.m. Today when I arrived I did not even have to sit in waiting room. Nurse took me right in treatment room and took vitals. Dr. DeMatteo came right in to assess me, I had fallen off a ladder with pain in hand, shoulder and knee. I was sent for X-rays across hall. I was back in to see Dr DeMatteo to review X-rays within 15 minutes. All in all the staff at Atrius Norwood get an A+ from me.
Positive experience: My appointment for annual check up was cancelled and I wasn't even put on waitlist for a future time even after explaining my situation. The lady on the call was rude and kept repeating the same thing like a broken record, first of all you put people on hold for an excruciating amount of time and then the operator misbehaves, highly unprofessional — Updating my review as I have had better experience ever since.
We are very sorry to hear this. If you would like to discuss your experience further please feel free to call our corporate patient relations department at 617-559-8440 or email [email protected].
Fantastic experience: Have seen many doctors at this location and super happy with services.
Positive experience: Very rude front desk receptionist at Urgent care.Needs better people skills. Otherwise good overall.
Negative experience: Worst doctors experience of my life!! Repeatedly told one thing on the phone, something different in person. Treat patients like a number that just has to be checked off to go home. Poor communication and constant lack of follow through - plus, our own doctor magically is never available! Most recently dealing with chronic pain caused by an injury and continuously told to see someone else without actually offering any solutions. Rude, poor bedside manner, and left feeling dismissed.
Negative experience: What practice has a urgent care that you never can an appt for? Also, poor response to non urgent questions. Very disappointed.
Fantastic experience: Absolutely love this place! Had my complete physical. And I mean complete!! Everything is right there! Lads, X-rays, gynecology, I’m happy I switched Dr.!! Thank you! Pa.. M. Ferris
Fantastic experience: We are new to this location, but have gone to Atrius elsewhere. So far, we've used in person urgent care and nurse line services for separate issues. Both have been caring and professional. There was a bit of hanging on hold before being asked if the nurse could just call me back, but I blame the COVID surge.
Negative experience: My only complaint is no one answering phones. LOVE the Doctors can’t say enough great things about them. However, to get through to a live person is next to impossible and when you do you get out on hold again! I’ve been trying to reschedule an appointment for 2 days, the first time I called the phone rang for 15min, I finally gave up. The 4th time I called I was put on hold for 37min. Again…I gave up and ended up missing my appt that I was trying to reschedule cus nobody answered the phone, returned my call or took me off hold status.
Fantastic experience: Good doctors, both pediatric and for adults.
Fantastic experience: I want to thank Dr. Johnson in podiatry for giving me the gift of walking again.. you are amazing. so is your staff!!!! recomend highly and I have high standards!!!
Negative experience: Horrible quality of service all around. From the administrators all the way to the doctors. Requested my wife and I go to a different doctor in march of 2020. The request was sent to the office for internal medicine. THEY DID NOT MAKE THE CHANGE. When I called and asked, I got NO response. Just an email telling me that the only person who is open to taking patients is the doctor my wife and I DONT want to go to since March 2020. Drs don’t answer their emails forcing us to go to ER and spend the copay to get an type of service. Plenty of other offices around the area. DONT make the same mistake we made. Go find an office that has better Drs and better staff.
Negative experience: Artius health is the worst pcp in the state, go anywhere else.
Negative experience: On 8/27/21, I called DMA Urgent Care to see if they accepted walk-in appointments. I was informed that they did and I just needed to come by with my insurance card but otherwise I was all set. I traveled 40 minutes to get there and when I walked into the facility I was swarmed by staff who were telling me to leave because I did not have an appointment. I indicated I had called prior to coming and was told I did not need one. The staff were in my face, not listening to me, and incredibly rude. I had a dog bite that needed attention and was informed that I needed to go elsewhere. I took my business to Milford General Urgent Care and was seen immediately. I would highly not recommend the Urgent Care at DMA in Norwood.
Positive experience: I called internal medicine to find out from a nurse if I am eligible to get the booster vaccine as I am immunocompromised. The receptionist who answered stated they are not scheduling them yet. I replied yes I know but can I find out if I eligible if I am to go elsewhere due to needing flexibility in my scheduling and she replied "Why don't you ask them."
Negative experience: I always have great experience with Dedham Medical Associates Norwood. But today I was so shocked the attribute I was treated by Operator!! First of all, the operator hung up my call even didn't give me the chance to finish my inquiry. I really don't want to see one person damaging this facility reputation.
Fantastic experience: Transferred care from Sturdy Memorial to Atrius Health Norwood mid pregnancy. Dr Christopher Morrison is my OBGYN and he is highly recommended. He is absolutely amazing, he listens and will advocate for you. He’s very thorough (nothing gets by him lol), I felt wholeheartedly that my health and wellness, my baby’s health and wellness was his priority as much as it was mine. He’s very relatable, has a great sense of humor and just an all rounded “Great Human Being!”. Though he didn’t delivered my son (I had midwives), he checked in on us while we were in the hospital moments after his birth and several times before we were discharged. Everyone at Atrius Health in Norwood; from the check in, administrators in the OBGYN’s office and well as the nurses I interacted with were all warm, welcoming and courtesy. I never had a negative interaction during the course of my pregnancy! I am happy I choose Atrius Health Norwood.
Negative experience: Rude rude rude. Every single time i have ever come into this building for any image testing i get loads of attitude by the receptionist and a bunch of confusion snd no communication . Terrible. Avoid this location if you can.
Negative experience: I made an appointment to get a flu shot for first-thing on a Monday morning, but left soon after arriving because of what I saw. Secretary staff was too busy gossiping with each other to direct incoming patients which resulted in a single file line, irrespective of Covid-19 protocols. Nursing staff seemed confused as it sounded like they were pulled last-minute from other departments. Atrius Health needs to get it together before I will trust them with my health care.
Positive experience: I love my doctor's...they are all great however, I have been on hold today for almost 40 mins, trying to get an answer about my prescription. It seems like it has become very difficult to reach a person when calling in. That is my only complaint. I think they need to hire more people to answer the phones!!
Fantastic experience: Great patient service. I came for a CT scan. No waiting and was greeted with welcome. Positive: Not busy as the offices in Boston
Positive experience: Impolite and rude staff, but pleasant medical doctor.
Negative experience: I've called three times today. First woman very rude I asked for one of the nurses she hung up on me. Second time I called she heard my voice and hung up on me and third time tie up again. Total of 72 minutes on hold
Negative experience: Lab staff are rude!!! I waited a long time, they were npt polite, not a smile and it seems they were stressed with each other. Thr lab manager was up front treating associates badly as well. Horrible environment.
Negative experience: A horrible network that locks you into only using their providers, and actively works against you insurance to prevent you from receiving referrals out of the Atrius umbrella. That being said on an individual level I do like the providers, but the opening system as whole takes advantage of the broken American healthcare system to yield their system a larger profit.
Negative experience: I like my doctor, all staff are excellent. Norwood facility is nice, but all other locations are old. Everything was great until I needed specialists. They make you wait months and months no matter how much debilitating pain you are in. I could have seen an external specialist at BW 6 weeks before, and got denied and have to see theirs. Their specialists are overwhelmed and understaffed and I felt rushed. Only go here with a PPO.
Hi Stephen,
We are sorry to hear you have experienced difficulty seeing a specialist. If you would like to discuss this further please feel free to contact our corporate patient relations department at [email protected] or call 617-559-8440.
Fantastic experience: Their podiatry department is amazing!
Fantastic experience: Excellent pediatric primary care services. Convenient hours and it is easy to get a last minute appointment. Dr. Agrin-Silva is truly an outstanding physician!
Positive experience: I had a very positive experience from the person scheduling my appointment , to the staff in the office and especially the NP who treated me. Excellent service.
Positive experience: Great podiatrist in Lindsey Johnson. I love the great care i’ve Received in radiology and my husband had an excellent, thorough experience in urgent care!
Negative experience: Really unprofessional. They have cancelled multiple appointments with hours of notice.
We are sorry to hear you've experienced so many cancellations. If you would like to discuss this further please contact our corporate patient relations department at [email protected] or call 617-559-8440.
Negative experience: Waited for an appointment for 4 weeks. On my way there get a call 5 minutes before the appointment starts to find out they cancel on me...
Negative experience: Doctors are great. Very rude front desk staff In the Pediatric office, Norwood location!
Fantastic experience: Doctors and staff are incredibly knowledgeable and caring.
Negative experience: Literally just had the worst experience at Dedham Medical Center. I went into the urgent care after a vaccine THEY gave me caused cellulitis in my arm and yes, I’m a nurse so I know what cellulitis is and how to treat it. The nurse seeing me left the room thinking she closed the door and proceeded to tell her coworkers about how dumb of a nurse I am because I don’t know how urgent care works all because I was running late to my appointment. Mind you, I told them when they made me the appointment that I was coming from work and it was a strong likelihood I would be late. After the doctor saw me and prescribed me antibiotics the nurse came back in the room to take a picture of my arm and asked me, “So were you right about your diagnosis?” and I responded “Yes, but I can’t write my own prescriptions so I came here.” She then continues to verbally harass me by saying doctors know more than nurses and that’s why they have the power to write prescriptions and that people think they know so much especially in their 20’s when basically they’re just dumb. After she was done harassing me she walked away and slammed the door to the exam room shut.
Negative experience: Been a patient for over 20 years the urgent care is horrible went several times once with very high blood pressure "they don't treat that there" well refund my Co pay. Then my doctor's office sent me there with back pain. Well it could be a kidney stone or pulled muscle I don't know. Now I am having digestive problems and my doctor of 20 years can't see me until September. Told to take Mira lax twice a day for 2 weeks. Bottle says don't use over 7 days. They know I have had a colon resection and a bowel obstruction last October which was caused by the colonoscopy done by an affiliate . Was in the hospital for a week. Called the surgeon who treated me at Brockton Hospital and she is seeing me in two days. Oh their surgeon left half my gall bladder in me also. Bye DMA PA I started paying more for insurance as you can't get a referral for where you want to go. Only their network even though my insurer allows me to go anywhere.
Fantastic experience: Awesome place
Negative experience: Terrible experience. I'm well insured and was billed hundreds. I felt worse leaving than I did going in.
Positive experience: Family doctors
Fantastic experience: Very modern very sleek
Negative experience: Never again. I had been directed here by my PCP and was brought in very quickly but seen only three times in two hours in serious pain with a dangerous BP. No mention of a treatment plan. I walked out, which I've never done before in my life. I'll go elsewhere in the future. You're better off in the ER, which is rare. Update: I went to the ER directly after leaving and was admitted to the hospital as an inpatient almost immediately. Perhaps they've improved by now but I wouldn't chance it. I'll reiterate- stay away from this place!
Fantastic experience: Very good
Fantastic experience: Very friendly and professional
Positive experience: I have been with DMA for over 25 years and they have always been professional and did a good job!
Fantastic experience: Little wait to be seen. Very kind and compassionate pediatric doctor. Staff are great too.
Positive experience: Convenient
Fantastic experience: Dr. Nobita Chatterjee is an excellent primary care physician. She is a compassionate and extremely knowledgeable physician who goes the extra mile for her patients. I would recommend her to anyone.
Fantastic experience: Long-time patient. I have found all the doctors and staff professional and competent
Fantastic experience: Dedham Medical is one one the best run organizations of any kind I've interacted with. My whole family has been with them for years. The people on the phones are great. The receptionists are hard working and are there all the time, in other words there is no turnover. The nurses are good at what they do and they do it without treating me like a child. The doctors are great, especially Dr. Wahid who is so caring and competent. The fact that they have to deal with so many difficult people on a daily basis and they still can do their job with a smile makes me respect Dedham Medical even more.
Negative experience: I called registration center to solve an issue with my baby's insurance, the lady I spoke w/ was extremely rude to me, no people skills whatsoever, I was very disappointed. She kept on arguing w/ me on the phone, even though I kept saying I was just trying to explain my situation. Terrible customer service.
Hi Janette, We are sorry to hear this and would like to learn more about your experience. Please call our corporate patient relations line at 617-559-8440 or email [email protected].
Positive experience: DMA has been good to us. The Norwood location is more convenient, but rt 1 kind of sucks. We use the lab and OB/GYN service and keeps everything on first floor. Those offices arent bad.
Positive experience: Very professional! I would recommend All of my friends.
Negative experience: The front desk was extremely rude, other than that it was OK. Nothing great.
Negative experience: Do not go here. Its a big business. They do not allow you to see your primary care physician, even when you ask. Even if your insurance allows you to get referrals and see doctors outside of your network, they purposely do not allow you to do it because they want to keep your $$ with one of their doctors in their network. They do this even if they don't have that specialty on their panel. I wanted to go to a functional nutritionist, which is something they do not have in their network but they would not give me a referral even though my insurance would let me. In addition, when it came to getting help getting healthy, the nurse practitioner told me I could go to a bariatric stapling program at Newton Wellesely hospital or she would write me a script for a weight loss drug that suppresses appetite. She told me it was a matter of will power....wow!! They will not prescribe even if you have been sick for 3 weeks solid and you know your body and know you would get better with a z pack. Do not go, go to a walk in clinic, you can see a doctor right up front when you come in and you will walk out of their with what you need to get better.
Fantastic experience: We like the fact that so many of our doctors are together in the same practice and they actually talk to each other. Service has been good.
Fantastic experience: Fantastic all around. From booking to waiting time to follow up. First class experience.
Positive experience: My experience here was great. Professiomal and very friendly staff.
Negative experience: very long wait better off going to the hospital er same wait
