Fantastic experience: Ben is an outstanding personal trainer who truly knows his craft. He created a personalized strength and conditioning plan that carefully considered my old injuries. within just two weeks, I noticed a real improvement in my mobility and a significant reduction in aches and pains. Highly recommend Ben for your personal training needs!
Fantastic experience: I’ve been a member here for over a year now, and the thing I love most about Healthtrax is that there’s such a variety of ways to workout and stay active there! I do think there are a few machines that have been in need of a fix for a little while now. But that being said, the over all environment at Healthtrax is very welcoming, especially the coaches! My coach is Dan, and I’ve been working with him since I joined. He’s got such a natural ability to make people excited to workout! He’s always coming up with new activities to do and he’s really boosted my confidence as a gym goer! Plus, he’s always having fun, which makes the people he works with have a great time too! All of the coaches are wonderful, and I know I can go to any of them if I’ve got a question about a certain workout move or machine. I recommend Healthtrax to all of my friends, it’s definitely the best gym environment I’ve been in. If you’re looking for a fun and inclusive gym, Healthtrax is the way to go!
Negative experience: I’ve been a member for just over a year and have gone very regularly during that time. Things were fine up until the past few months. It suddenly seems like sooooo many machines are starting to break and soooo much equipment is falling apart. I now have to be strategic with which ellipticals or treadmills to use, just to avoid getting stuck with a bad one that either makes loud clunking noises or (in the case of the ellipticals) doesn’t increase the intensity past a certain point for some reason. Also, only 1 or 2 of the stair masters actually work at any given time. Some of the treadmills and weight machines have straight up been taken off the floor, so the amount of usable equipment is decreasing. I’ve also noticed lately that the roof has been leaking A LOT, which ends up staining the carpets (and probably leads to mold growth). Additionally, throughout the entirety of my membership, the women’s showers have been a sad situation. It’s always dirty, the curtains are sketchy, and the water pressure is basically like spraying a hose in your face sometimes. A facelift to upgrade the shower stalls with doors that actually seal (no more 1 inch gap) for privacy and new shower heads would make a world of difference. In short - the gym is really starting to fall into serious disrepair. It just seems tired, dated, and dirty. I am very much considering taking my membership elsewhere to a gym that has plentiful working machines and overall clean facilities. Which is sad, because the location is convenient and there’s a lot of potential for this to be a much better gym if it cleaned up its act. I see that other reviewers have mentioned some of these issues and management has responded saying things are getting fixed “soon” - yet more reviewers continue to mention it. Take pride in your business and fix the place up instead of offering empty promises! The fact that this gym has a pool, sauna and basketball court sets it above other basic gyms - now, if it were actually clean and had newer working equipment, this could be an amazing gym with booming business! UPDATE: As of 9/1/24, Healthtrax has abruptly increased their monthly rates by $2. This change was made without notifying members and no improvements have been made throughout the club. It’s unclear how this increase will directly benefit members - if at all. I will be taking my membership elsewhere.

Fantastic experience: Jim is a great personal trainer. He is extremely knowledgeable in what he does and personalizes workouts to fit the clients’ needs. He is kind, supportive, and passionate. He is a great motivator and pushes his clients to do their best but knows that everyone’s best looks different day to day. When I started working out, I didn’t know what to do, especially with upper body exercises. The machines bored me and I would get discouraged easily. I started with Jim saying I my goal was to get toned and to feel better about myself, which at that point I hadn’t felt good about myself in a while. Jim listened to what I liked to do working out, and what I struggled with. He made a workout plan that I ended up really enjoying, and I started seeing some results relatively quickly. I saw the weights I was lifting and working with going up, and I started to get more confidence in myself. After a few months I am seeing that I am toning up how I wanted, and I feel so much better about myself. I am now looking in the mirror feeling happy, and not pointing out everything I want to change. Jim motivated me to work hard and push through when the workouts became tough. He has been supportive and made me realize that my best may look different sometimes and that is okay. He created a workout plan that allows me and my husband to work together, and we are both seeing results we wanted. We now look forward to going to the gym even if the workouts aren’t our favorite exercises. Jim has been so supportive and understanding when work or being sick keeps us from our appointments. He has been so wonderful to work with and I would recommend him to anyone who is looking to start a healthier lifestyle!

Positive experience: I love this gym. It definitely has many options and opportunities for their members including sauna, steam room, and a pool. The staff and the trainers are amazing, knowledgeable, and very friendly. The only thing that stops me from giving this gym 5 stars is I wish they offered more benefits to their members and the maintenance could be a bit more on point. Other than that, great gym. Way better than PF.

Fantastic experience: Although it’s not my home gym, I’ve come to Healthtrax West Springfield many different times now. Each time, the space as a whole (gym, locker room, sauna) is very well-kept. The overall layout of the gym is made in such a way that even during busier hours, there’s still space to do my workouts. Overall, no complaints with this location!

Fantastic experience: My favorite aspect of the gym is the personal training program. My trainer, Jim, makes the sessions challenging, but not past my limits. He’s probably the only reason I show up to the gym most of the time. I have enjoyed and appreciated all the help Jim gives me with teaching new exercises and showing me stretches after the workout. I would highly recommend training with Jim to anyone, no matter your skill level. When I first joined, I was newer to strength training/going to a gym. But none of the sessions are intimidating and I know there’s no judgement from him if I have questions. I’m looking forward to continuing to my progress.

We do have regular scheduled staff that come in to clean the center and equipment but if there is a concern, we want to know about it and appreciate you bringing it to our attention. Negative experience: Place is in disrepair, can’t get a cold shower in the men’s locker room which is essential in my mind after a sauna session, took 2 months of complaining to get a almost sufficient amount of carabiners, but worst of all is the hrs, closes at 7 on Friday, 5 on Saturday, and 1 on Sunday and 9 during the week, it is far most expensive then other gyms and if they could just fix these issues it would actually be worth it….
Hi Richard, thank you for taking the time to leave a review. I spoke with management and they did have maintenance check the showers in case there was a mechanical issue they were unaware of. They are running hot and cold but am sorry if you ran into an issue the day you were using them! In regard to your other feedback, someone did move all the carabiners to a specific area but they have since been redistributed and we apologize that you had to try and hunt them down. We will make sure to keep an eye on that in the future. As for hours, that is usually determined by club usage and I have forwarded that feedback to management for you. It is especially regrettable that you were uniformed about these related procedures despite reading the membership agreement before signing it upon enrolling. Disagreeing with enforcement of the cancelation policy and annual enhancement fee does not warrant the public insult of theft. Having over 40 years in business we pride ourselves in having friendly Staff who are approachable for questions in person or by email and written information is also provided online in the membership guide to assist in making the most of the membership experience and to be transparent and minimize the element of 'no one ever told me.'

To accommodate our members requesting to freeze a membership going forward, due to COVID-19 specific concerns, we have made every attempt to add value in hopes of keeping people physically active at home as part of the Healthtrax tribe by including our Virtual Membership option; a price guarantee upon coming off freeze and a number of other benefits. Since you opted to cancel, in accordance with the contract you signed, there is a 30 day advance written notification which our staff honored and processed immediately for you to provide you with the utmost customer care.

Negative experience: DO NOT GO HERE!!! I liked the gym itself and the kids zone, those employees were phenomenal. There were two ladies that worked the front desk, one was a manager, both were often curt when I had questions, not very friendly at all. When my wife called to cancel, since they are closed and my contract is up, they told her we would have to pay for an additional two months, even though we can't go there. The employee was very rude and unprofessional. When I called to speak to the manager the next day, I was told the same thing, that according to my contract (which was up anyway, and they are in breach of because the services promised in the contract are no longer available) that I had to pay the extra month. She kept repeating that there would be two months of value added on. THERE'S NO VALUE IN SOMETHING YOU CAN'T USE! She was unprofessional and very short. Covid has messed up everything but this could have been a simple and quick cancel for now and we would have returned when it was feasible. Not a chance now, just so they could nab an extra $150. This company will do anything to steal your money in any way. They also constantly try to sell you stuff. The facility is a B, most of the staff A, the manager is an F. Just be warned once you've joined, leaving is the hard part. And their reply to this review is just proof. Our contract was already up, yet they still require you to cancel and they charge you for two months. Healthtrax could have simply cancelled us, then waited and we would have rejoined. But they decided to charge an extra month and keep repeating this useless two month "value". Again, there is no value to something you can't use. The organization is run by used car salesmen. Keep your money, go somewhere smaller, run by people that are honest. ***Update*** 3 months AFTER our membership was up, and two months after they charged us an additional two months, they decided to charge us an annual fee. Even though we are not longer members, they were able to access our account and charge another fee***. DO NOT GO HERE!

We realize that with COVID-19 concerns and some areas of the Center still being nonoperational due to MA regulations, some members may choose not to participate. We have been a reputable business for over 40 years and understand that these are trying and unprecedented times. In appreciation of this, for those cancelling and choosing not to use their membership during the month we are extending an in kind complimentary 2-month membership gift certificate to use at a future time when feeling more comfortable returning to the Center.

Healthtrax is listening and reassures you that all carpets have been deep cleaned. We regret that some areas do not look the best in-spite of regular cleaning. Our first phase of replacing the old with new has been completed in the woman's locker room. We do hope to replace other areas when able. Negative experience: They don't really know how to manage this Covid-19 situation and started charging and stealing money all customer's credit card as soon as they open the gym to bring customer attention. Now Marina lady convincing all high customers that they cannot reimburse. the beauty is we are living in a community next to gym (Hardly 1 minute to walk in from my home). I dont know how much they stolen from all 4000 customers for the empty gym. They dont have courage to admit the fault did by one of their front desk when i called them. She informed that you guys will be free for 3 months and no need to cancel. But now everything is opposite. Worst handling

They charge you a maintenance fee on top of membership, but I don't know what they do with the money as the building is in dire need of a caretaker or three. Just my honest first impressions so far.

Negative experience: The man over the phone is SO RUDE!!! I’m trying to do research for gyms and he won’t even tell me a ballpark price over the phone and cuts me off whenever I speak. He needs to get off his high horse! He rushed me off the phone and wouldn’t even answer my questions! I was on hold for several minutes before being connected with such a rude person. I considered going here but I will DEFINITELY not waste my money. I will be telling EVERYONE to stay far away from this business. I am extremely disappointed.

Negative experience: My experience here has been very disappointed!!! when I signed up at the West Springfield area they made it sound like is the greatest place because it has so much to offer. with me being a disabled person and having fibromyalgia suana and pool sounded good!!!.... but the suana been down for a couple months now. I called a couple times and have been told twice that it has been fix and when I showed up is still broken . when excercise machines breaks they also take a very long time to fix. Another thing is that they NEVER stay up with cleaning .. showers be dirty , disinfected spray most of the time is empty and ALSO ALWAYS running short on toilet paper. In BOTH PLACES West Springfield and East Longmeadow..I WONDER whose been in charge of these facilities that I have been going and none of these issues has been taking care of. I been there close to a year and not HAPPY at ALL..I'm waiting on contract to finish AND good ELSE where.

Positive experience: The only one thing that bothers me is the extreme smell of bleach. I leave with a headache due to the sensitivity to strong chemicals...especially bleach. Hold on the overused bleach.

Positive experience: I've been a member here for longer than I care to admit the staff is friendly and helpful They do a good job of keeping a very large busy facility in clean working order. They offer a full slate of exercise classes that range from swimming water aerobics exercise weight lifting and yoga with many others I didn't mention there are Racquetball courts spinning rooms and full compliment of exercise machines treadmills etc. It is pricey but you do get a lot to take advantage of. There are sauna and steam rooms with roomy locker rooms and showers with the all important got water. You can check it out for free if you express interest in joining or get a guest pass from current member

Negative experience: I joined Healthrax around mid-fall 2016. Since I have joined, I noticed that the gym is run down for the price I pay as a member per month, including the $30.00 "maintenance" fee to repair and update the gym (which none have been done, the gym is moldy and smells awful). I joined the gym to primarily use the heavy bag area, which I later realized looks and feels like it's been sitting there for years and cannot be used effectively. Additionally, I went to place a freeze on my account due to school. I was told when I joined that my monthly dues would drop down to $12.00 if I were to ever freeze my account, that wasn't the case. When I went in to freeze my account, I was told my dues would be dropped down to $17.00 monthly, there $15.00 freezing fee I had to pay, and my one year contract date would be pushed to a later date. I stupidly placed my account on freeze anyways until my account was charged a $30.00 fee for maintenance. I decided then and there to find out how to cancel my membership. I was told by the woman that day, that the complete total to cancel my membership would be $120.00. I went back within a week and I was told the price to cancel would be $157.00 to include April dues, yet I was told I could no longer use the gym (although I was apparently paying for April) since I was cancelling now. I also asked, since I have sessions that are paid for a personal trainer, would I still be able to use them or would I receive a refund? They told me that they don't know the answer to that question since personal training is seperate billing from the gym. I asked them if there was a manager or someone from personal training billing I could speak with, they stated that there was no one available. With my question being unanswered, they were trying to get me to sign my cancellation and I refused without an answer. They told me they would call me back with an answer (they did) and that I could send them an email with my authorization to cancel, so I paid for my cancellation right then and there. I sent them my authorization and have yet to hear back with them with the confirmation paperwork or email. I have experienced nothing but stress with this gym. They are unprofessional and will do anything to take as much money out of you as possible. My advice, don't join this gym.
Negative experience: Been a member for months and can't think of anything to praise about this place except for the staff. The building is very old and stinks throughout. The equipment are old, Rusty and broken in some cases.

Positive experience: I am no longer a member of this gym but I was for about a year. I really liked the facility including basketball courts and the abundance of equipment. My biggest complaint is that the free-weight/bench press area was very small and would get crowded. Also, this gym is very expensive compared to some of the cheaper options out there but you really do get a lot that the others can't offer.
