Negative experience: So. I’m giving it a 2 because I LOVE most of the coaches. They were just amazing on multiple levels. Sensei George, Sebastian, and Christian were so great for self esteem and had amazing energy and just did a great job in general all around with their classes every time. An ongoing issue however is the fact that they won’t stop pulling my payments or refund the money they have pulled already even knowing we have over 27 sessions owed to us already. My son got sick and we had issues that they were fully aware of (we have documentation) showing they knew this was a situation meaning the cancellation policy was null and void (be careful they will throw this in your face even if your child is ill so read it and understand it !) anyway. They kept pulling funds and states that the cancellation policy reflects why. We already have over 3 full months of owed sessions in addition to the 3 months they have additionally pulled. (They refunded 1 of these months - October) but refuse to do the right thing and refund the rest. Our other close friends also had this problem and I also just read on their reviews that it’s a persistent issue. I’m a teacher in the community and feel that this is unacceptable and should be remedied easily rather than me having to go to extremes. It’s the holiday season and pulling over $211 again is not ok. At this point we have over $1000 in sessions owed to us and do not plan on going back due to management and owner concerns. Again, be sure to read all the terms and policies so you don’t get tricked and understand. I’ve finally had to contact my credit card company after months of argument and go that route which I prefer not to.

I’ve tried a number of martial arts studios but my son wouldn’t get on the mat. Despite that, the instructors foster an environment of patience, understanding and experience, helping him ease through a smooth and fun transition! They were both very attentive to my medical needs, which I appreciated. My daughter and I both enjoyed our first class so much that we immediately became members once class ended. We look forward to attending classes weekly, and start crushing our goals.

Fantastic experience: I came in with my son today, who just turned 3yrs - the minimum age for the early childhood program - I was full of nerves, just carting around a child of this age can be stressful, as most all of us parents know! Coach Mike, Coach George, and the rest of the team were so welcoming. We felt safe, and my son was delighted by the environment. These guys are great with kids!!! It was so fun to watch. Keep up the great work guys, we need solid and caring role models like y'all now more than ever - it was very uplifting to see - thank you again, looking forward to our next session.

Fantastic experience: My kids have been coming to Innovative MA in Commack for over 5 years and love it! They have learned self discipline and how to protect themselves in case it is ever needed. The staff at innovative are always friendly and accommodating to any questions or needs that you may have. To top it off, this business is very clean and also uses air purifiers and sanitizers to help keep our kids healthy. They create a safe and friendly environment. I would recommend bringing your kids here without a doubt.

Fantastic experience: My daughter started taking classes here almost 2 months ago. All I can say is that from the start the staff has been fantastic with communication and when we actually got there, they made us feel very welcome and provided excellent instruction and guidance. I have observed several classes and I’m very happy with what I see in the environment how there is great camaraderie and it’s very safe and friendly place where my daughter actually is having a lot of fun. in typical fashion, when I suggest things she doesn’t always agree, but after trying it just one class she told me halfway through that I was right and she is actually having fun so I know she’s in a good place because I see the smile on her face and her satisfaction at the end of class. Even last night I had to push her a little because she didn’t really want to go after having a very stressful week and didn’t feel up to it but I just encouraged her to go and she ended up having a great night and it really lifted her spirit being among her classmates and being there with the coaches and all of the positivity that they inject into the class. I could go on. She’s attended classes on different nights and weekends. The classes are always excellent, supportive among the peers, everything is done with safety in mind. If you’re feeling, curious or reluctant, I highly encourage you to go check it out, you’ll probably instantly fall in love just like we did. I personally love the straightforward set up of the schedule and payment and that there are a lot of class options every night and on weekends at really convenient times. There’s also an app that makes it really easy to set up for classes. We have never had a problem with weight times so it’s been very convenient.

Fantastic experience: I’m so glad that we signed our son up for this! When we did the trial I wasn’t sure if he would be interested because he wasn’t too sure about it but once he got used to it he loved it. The instructors showed him things that I knew he was capable of, but it helped him to get more confidence and strength. The instructors are awesome with the kids and are very involved and interested in helping all of them! I can’t wait to see his future progress—would absolutely recommend it to everyone!

You can try them out prior to membership commitment to see if it's a fit for you and your family. They make a big personal deal of hooking kids and helping them grow in responsibility, respect, and resilience. Parking is easy and free. Can get stroller/wheelchair in easily. Have seats for parents to watch. A special local company run by locals. My son loved his trial! @innovativema

Negative experience: in response to the comment about a refund...Mike no refund hAS been made as i spoke to my bank yesterday so idk what you’re referring too and also maybe next time stick to your word when there is an issue w something and don’t just fix it for 1 week and the next it arises again !!

Negative experience: Would not recommend Innovative. The school is not organized, there is no discipline or respect taught. They are all about the money and not about teaching. There are much better schools around the area who do a much better job than Innovative.

Positive experience: My daughter just enrolled this month, so I have yet to see the progress she will make in her martial arts journey, but I have high hopes she will do great and be the best she can be! She already enjoys going to classes, so that's a starter.

Someone recommended Innovative Martial Arts to me and I thought, it couldn't hurt to try one more. My grandson is special needs, mild issues. My concerns were completely dissolved after a one-on-one class/interview with us. I was amazed at the way the Sensei, was able to keep the attention of my 4 yo and how well he worked with him. This place goes over and above and their cost is so reasonable. The best investment I've made. The staff are all so pleasant and great with the children. Its obvious they love what they do. So organized and well organized classes. They have events and other fun things for the children. I can't say enough about Innovative Martial Arts, there are so many good things about them. Oh and a big plus for me is how clean this place is. I found his martial arts home. He will be here until he is a black belt or beyond. Fantastic experience: My son loves it!! He is 3.5 (has a December birthday) so I was nervous he would be too little for the 3-6 class, but the instructors take their time to help him every class. And now he’s getting the hang of it all on his own! He looks forward to karate. Its amazing to see his progress even just 1 month into it. Looking forward to the progress he’ll continue to make!

Fantastic experience: I was hesitant to sign my son up since he just turned 4, but all the staff are patient, welcoming, and helpful! My son looks forward to coming to class and I couldn’t be happier!

Fantastic experience: Mike and Brandon are our instructors, great dudes. My friend and I wanted to learn the basics of how to defend oneself if, god forbid, we were in a dangerous situation and the coaches helped us do just that. Beginning of class is a nice high intensity work out and then you get into the art. Very cool and would recommend to anyone who wants to learn a different skill while getting a workout in.

Negative experience: They are so bad. Don’t give them any credit card. Last 3 mount we canceled our class they still used our card they get 3 mount money.

Fantastic experience: Today was my first day of class and finally took the hardest step of beginning. Immediately, once I walked in, I felt like family. I had the pleasure of working with coach Mike, who made me feel encouraged as well as motivated. Not only is it an unbelievable workout but already I have learned so much and look forward to learning anything and everything I can. If you are looking for something to help defend yourself or even just something to take your mind off things and work for something this is definitely the place to go. Classmates were encouraging and innovative martial arts is definitely somewhere I now consider home and will definitely return to!

Positive experience: I have nothing bad to say about the trainers, however, I want to say this, we gave cancellation notice in May because our schedules changed and were unable to commit. Though we gave a month’s notice and expected to pay June we were charged June and July $169 each month for the membership. Was informed they require 2-months notice which I have never heard of. It’s disgusting really. We will never be back and will never recommend this place. Btw I lost my job in March due to Covid cases in the office. You don’t take advantage of people to keep your business up. 2 months notice? Shame on you!

At first he didn’t want to join but after meeting with the instructor George and having his first trail class he was very excited and also he loves all his other instructors. Negative experience: My view of this establishment has changed dramatically. They continue to charge you months after canceling. They give you the run around prior to processing your request Bc their “policy” is the charge you for a few months. But this is a recipe for a failed business. I noticed many other customers have the exact same issue with them.

Fantastic experience: Just started a program for 2 children at Innovative Martial Arts, and so far so good. My children love it, the place is organized, clean, and icludes great learning skills for children of all ages.

Fantastic experience: I’ve only had one class so far but my experience was great. I was totally lost a few times but the instructor kept assuring me and kept my confidence up. I also didn’t just get thrown into a class with more experienced people, I had one on one time with an instructor to learn a few things which helped me not feel completely lost amongst the group. They’ve also reached out to me to see how my experience was and how I was feeling.. can’t wait to go back.

Fantastic experience: Both of my sons started here about a month ago and we are so pleased! This is a very well run program with multiple instructors at each class so that each child is truly able to learn and does not get lost. The instructors are patient and very attentive to the children!

Fantastic experience: Signed up my 11 year old son and thought he would be uninterested and perhaps too “old” for martial arts but he lovesssss it! From the warm ups to the combinations! They do REAL WORK! Things that I do! Burpees, push ups and crunches... They put in work! I love that he’s being challenged! Thank you to Senpai George and Sensei Mike for your professionalism but also your sense of humor to help keep it fun!

Fantastic experience: I just started trading with David and Mike and really enjoy the program. Very good for cardio conditioning for those who want to burn calories and get aerobic exercise. Also direct no nonsense techniques for self defense. I highly recommend this gym and their instructors.

They are always able to answer any questions I've had. My son has so much fun. They are very knowledgeable on teaching Karate. The Dojo is very clean. I'm so happy my son goes here. You will be too.

Fantastic experience: My last review was 2 years ago. Since then my son has continued into the more advanced classes and celebrated his 10th birthday there. He’s made great progress and has wonderful relationships with his instructors. We’ve been at Innovative for a few classes. My seven year old is having a blast. The classes are small and the ratio is excellent following Covid reopening. I’m also impressed with the cleainess and measures taken.

Fantastic experience: Went in to sign my 5 year old son up. Very clean atmosphere. The minute we walked in the door everyone was courteous and professional! I had my 7 year old daughter with me while I was there... she saw a class and asked me to sign her up too. Both my kids had Elsie! She was so sweet!

I’ve always believed that a good martial arts program has endless benefits for people of all ages, and, why not start them early. I was nervous that my son would have a hard time following the class because of how young he is. I was truly impressed at the professionalism and patience of all the instructors. They are simply amazing! They teach discipline, respect, and lay down a great foundation to martial arts and fitness. They take their time with the kids when teaching skills and technique. I strongly recommend this studio to anyone who wants their kids to be active and build confidence through learning control of their body and their environment!

Fantastic experience: What an amazing school! What I love about this place is that they teach the kids to earn the stuff. Like the uniform is earn after they attend their first class the same as the belt. They have a system where kids have to do their chores at home and after a month the parent brings back the sheet and they earn a price. I love that they have positive affirmations for the kids and the environment is so friendly; the teachers are amazing and they teach accordingly to the kids ages. I’m just super satisfied with the school and all the things my son is learning.

Their formula for keeping the kids engaged and attentive works very well. My 6yr started up a few months ago...looks like it will be a family tradition. I'm sure my 4 yr old will join at some point.

Fantastic experience: We came here after a not so great experience at another place. My son (3 years old) was very hesitant about giving it another shot but now he LOVES it. The classes and instructors here are very empowering, encouraging and uplifting. It's age appropriate and not overwhelming. He looks forward to going and it helps us with instilling good behavior at home (love the 'Daily Habits Chart'). Also, all of the parents I have met here have been so incredibly nice which means Mommy likes going too :) The environment is clean and accommodating, the music is fun and the seating is comfortable which is super helpful when you also have a 9 month old. I would definitely recommend them!

Fantastic experience: My wife and I recently enrolled our 4-year-old, who was diagnosed with high-functioning autism. We were a little nervous that our son would become a distraction to the other students. Our fears were quickly put to rest. He absolutely loves it ! Every instructor is compassionate, encouraging, and most importantly, they’re incredibly patient. With the help of ‘Innovative Martial Arts’ and their amazing crew, my wife and I highly look forward to seeing our son grow stronger, more focused, and gain the confidence he needs to tackle future obstacles that may lie ahead. I honestly cannot recommend this place enough.
