Fantastic experience: Walking through the doors into ShaMynds (Healing Center), the ambience from checking in with the receptionist followed by the nurse to intention setting with the therapist before, during and after ketamine therapy is like taking the metaphorical “red pill”. After the ketamine therapy sessions and walking out of ShaMynds (Healing Center), the experience is like using the integration process to re-entering everyday life of the matrix with fewer of the metaphorical “blue pill” side-effects, replaced with new or refined tools for overall healing. I have been coming here for over a year and I used to tell people I have achieved years of therapy in a few visits and now I say no amount of therapy could have helped me achieved what I have gained from this facility. Every staff member has become a part of my life and has impacted me in a positive way since I began treatment. Earlier this year, I completed TMS treatment here. I had 3 concussions which left me with severe insomnia, mental confusion, difficulty concentrating, memory issues, I had trouble focusing my eye sight so I had to wear glasses for years. After completing treatment I no longer require glasses, I not only no longer struggle with insomnia but I am sleeping through the night and feeling so much better because that. My hearing improved. My cognitive ability improved and my quality of life improved. I did not know what to expect to gain from treatment and these turned out to be unexpected perks I never thought I would overcome. This place has healed me in ways I never dreamed possible and I am so thankful to have the opportunity and blessing to get treatment here. Fantastic experience: I am very please with the care I have recieved and the insights I have gained. I have been dealing with an issue for 20 years with multiple doctors. She had the insight to have me monitor something particular that has solved my issue. So grateful!

Negative experience: I sent in a request, emailed another question separately and scheduled an appointment for a consultation. All of these were ignored including the appointment. Doesn’t seem very professional, if you’re not accepting new clients you could inform people of this rather than prompting to book a consult.

Fantastic experience: It’s really too soon to leave an accurate review, but my first impression of the personnel and the atmosphere was very uplifting. Stay tuned. I walked into ShaMynds Healing Center with little to no expectations. Years-of switching between different treatments and different medications without any long-term results had left me pretty frustrated. That was until I experienced my first ketamine assisted psychotherapy session. Never before if I seen a treatment work and unfold right before my eyes! The professional team who assists me in my journey are compassionate and have helped create a safe space for me to grow and process in. This group works on finding the very core of an illness—healing begins there, at the root of the problem, so it does much more then just addressing the diseases symptoms. Their medical model focuses on the mind, body and spirit. Tomorrow I have my 12th session. And I will keep you posted.

Fantastic experience: I am a disabled veteran with PTSD and a bunch of other issues (mental and physical). I had tried the ketamine that can be mailed to you (through a different company), and found good enough results that I wanted to pursue it the proper way- in a clinic, with a doctor, with therapy and tools to succeed. So I reached out to the va and they enrolled me in community care for the iv ketamine treatment. The first place they sent me to was closer to me, by a lot, but they only focused on you getting the ketamine… not doing the work to get better. So I asked for a new clinic, and they sent me to ShaMynds. It was a night and day difference. They do a bunch of intake exams. Bunch of labs. Figure out where you are at and how to best help. They are patient and calm and help you work through everything. They are an amazing place that focuses on whole health . It’s the first place I’ve felt safe and felt progress. If you get a chance, go. I will consistently make the 45 minute drive to this place because it’s worth it.

I came across information that that our VA now approves such therapies, and Dr. Ahmad’s approach to ketamine therapy has been nothing short of transformational for me. Their team provides such a welcoming environment and experience, well worth the wait to get seen. Healing starts with the person being treated and they always focus on you! The team at Shamynds isn’t just facilitating therapy—they’re creating a space for true breakthroughs. I’ve been able to find peace, direction, and renewed confidence in my journey, and I attribute much of that growth to Shamynds. Negative experience: This review was long overdue. I will start by saying that the nurses were great and the therapist I had was very compassionate. However, Dr. Ahmad was awful and only in this to make money. The first infusion I had she refused to tell me my dosage of the ketamine due to some weird “spiritual” reason she proposed. Which doesn’t make sense to me, because I also know what dose of Tylenol I take when I’m home, but okay. I had requested to have lozenges between appointments, which were prescribed to me. However, she wanted to charge me for the appointment to discuss the lozenges in addition to the appointment I was paying a lot of money for when going back for my booster infusion. When I cancelled my lozenge appointment and thought we could discuss everything during my infusion appointment, she was dismissive and made a point to avoid me. That day I had a very difficult infusion and would have appreciated her support, but she ignored me as I left the clinic. I also had nausea from my infusion, but the nurse told me they only had 1 mg IV Zofran left and didn’t have any other IV nausea medications left in the office. So, why am I paying so much for infusions then? I don’t understand why it’s so difficult to find a kind, compassionate ketamine provider. If you have better luck than I did, please avoid this place. Listen to the last review a patient left where they felt neglected by Dr. Ahmad after they went to the VA for their ketamine treatments. This is very much the case unfortunately. She is only in this for the money, not for patient care. *Their response to my review is straight up gaslighting. The lozenges could have been prescribed when I was at the office for my infusion appointment. The DEA link they added just proves that. Again, Dr. Ahmad is money hungry and wants to take advantage of vulnerable people who are willing to dish out more money for every little service. Her attitude completely changed toward me when I didn’t give her that money. Not a good feeling to come into when these infusions already put you in a vulnerable state. Ketamine is expensive enough, it’s a shame that it is only accessible to the rich.

Fantastic experience: If you are considering KAT or other wellness modalities as part of your mental health practice, I highly recommend working with the team at ShaMynds. I was fortunate enough to participate in a 6-week KAT program in 2024 and was humbled by the warmth, safety, and guidance I experienced throughout the process. Dr. Ahmad, Jessica, Akia, Lauren, Cindee, Alyssa - and everyone else I've encountered at ShaMynds are not just impeccable professionals, it's clear they truly care about the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of their clients.

Fantastic experience: Came to ShaMynds in attempts to find a way to heal myself and lower the amount of self harm thoughts. My struggle has been ongoing over the past thirty years, with multiple hospitalizations and different medications. After research on the use of Ketamine and discussion with my mental health providers at the VA I was allowed to start treatment. After the first visit, my suicidal ideations were gone, and I continued to grow with the help of the therapists and providers at ShaMynds, I continue examine the path I am currently on, and see colors where before everything was in black and white, and the path blocked by my self harm now opened to healing and rebirth.

Fantastic experience: Shamynds' Narrative Medicine workshops are groundbreaking healing experiences, using the power of story to heal and integrate life's biggest challenges. The facilitators create a safe and open environment of non-judgment, curiosity and compassion, allowing creativity and connection to flourish. In this space, participants can process their unconscious through creative exercises, inspiring deeply meaningful reflections upon their healing journeys and forming resonances with one another through courageous sharing. I cannot recommend these workshops enough for anyone who is willing to go a further step in moving towards wholeness. I attended these initially as a researcher but soon became a participant and was moved by each and every session I experienced. Special stuff!

After decades of suffering debilitating cptsd and being a trauma survivor I was despondent and open to trying alternative therapies. Positive experience: I have been undergoing ketamine-assisted-psychotherapy since February 2023. I was a patient at ShaMynds for nine months. My overall experience receiving treatment was positive. The front desk staff were warm and welcoming, my therapist and guide were nothing short of amazing, and ketamine has been pivotal in my C-PTSD healing journey. However, I noticed a shift in my quality of care once I concluded my initial series of infusions as cash pay and switched to coverage under the VA Community Care. Dr. Ahmad was suddenly absent from infusion appointments. The once warm and welcoming energy in the office became distant and cold. Staff appear to be overextended and staffing changes were more abundant. Had it have not been for the inconsistent and diminished care, I’d be more inclined to recommend their services, but I highly recommend ketamine as a tool for healing.

Fantastic experience: The people at Shamynds are the absolute best. They are very caring, experienced, and their style of treatment is top notch. I would recommend this clinic over any other clinic in Sacramento or online/at home Ketamine Therapy. Having a safe environment and an experienced therapist there is very important. I have had 9 sessions and have not experienced any depression since I began. The medicine is safe and comfortable. If you are thinking about getting treatment, go for it! It’s worth every cent. My life and outlook has completely changed for the better and I hope that more people can find relief from their suffering and trauma.

Fantastic experience: This program is saving my life. I’ve lived with treatment resistant depression for over 20 years, and have struggled with other mental health diagnoses as well (ptsd, anxiety, substance abuse). I’ve been through years of talk therapy, tried around 15+ psych meds, been to inpatient and outpatient programs, support groups, and even tried Spravato for a number of months before my intake at Shamynds (which helped a little bit while I was taking it, but its effect faded almost instantly after each treatment). A clinician of mine at a treatment center I attend recommended Shamynds, after my treatments with spravato weren’t as effective as I had hoped. I signed up for the MetaMynd package (intravenous ketamine with therapy). The entire process flowed quickly and easily from the phone consultation and intakes to the ketamine sessions and into aftercare. The staff are all such incredibly sweet individuals. Kati and Laura at front desk are so kind and helpful and Dr Ahmad and my therapist Kirsten are very skilled, easy to talk to, humble and compassionate people. The nurses are also awesomely kind and gentle. The atmosphere at the clinic is very welcoming and I felt/feel very cared for there. Ketamine did not magically erase all of my symptoms of depression, anxiety and ptsd but it definitely took a huge chunk out of the intensity of those symptoms. As of about two weeks ago, after finishing the initial 6 sessions of intravenous ketamine with psychotherapy, normal everyday stressors don’t send me spiraling into pits of despair or suicidal ideation. It doesn’t feel like I’m constantly trying to distract myself from having my next mental breakdown. My family and friends have been noticing that there’s more light in my eyes and that I seem to be “doing much better”. And probably most importantly, ketamine woke up the part of me that genuinely wants me to take care of myself- which in itself is huge because I struggled with intense self-hatred for almost all of my life. It’s been easier to be kind to myself, to treat myself with compassion and to just relax and enjoy doing the things I enjoy doing. This is still blowing my mind. Also, by the way, ketamine is not scary at all, it feels like a warm cozy blanket filled with all the love and care that I always wanted to have and feel but drowned in depression instead. It feels magical, mystical, beautiful and healing. And it can also change stressful memories into more meaningful and healing ones (which I did with my therapist Kirsten and it was nuts. The memories have been altered into non-traumatic ones when I remember them now). I highly recommend Shamynds. I highly recommend the MetaMynd package. And I highly recommend Ketamine assisted psychotherapy in general, if you are struggling with depression, ptsd or anxiety. The work I’ve been doing with these amazing individuals is changing and saving my life. I am so grateful for Shamynds and always will be.

Fantastic experience: I cannot say enough about the entire team at ShaMynds Healing Center. They make you feel safe and cared during the entire process, from scheduling, to the journey, to aftercare. I came to them a few months ago in really bad shape. I had been experiencing dark depression for about 8 months with debilitating anxiety. After my first session, I felt night and day better. There wasn't this profound thing or epiphany of any sort that happened during my journey, it was more like, the next day everything was just different. Fantastic experience: The years of searching for an answer are, dare I say, over? For the last 20+ years I’ve been searching for that missing link, that secret that everyone with a smile on their face seems to know, but isn’t telling me. The grasping at - ‘this must be the solution that will fix me, I feel it!’ Only to be let down by the new exercise, supplement, diet, naturopathic doctor, medical doctor, various programs, mindset work…. ALL. THE. THINGS. Not to say those things don’t work, they just didn’t work for me. In the last 20 years I’ve been diagnosed with depression, then depression + anxiety, then PMDD, and everything I ever did for all those things always fell short. Inevitably, I would hit bottom again, even though…I have such an incredible life full of experiences, adventure and most importantly, true love from a man who does and will do anything for me. It is maddening to have such a uniquely incredible life, yet feel so empty and lost. Finally, last year I got the diagnoses that ticked every box, that made so much sense, that finally made me feel a whole lot less crazy….PTSD. I then began researching, understanding and seeking out support to live with PTSD, because the truth is, there is no cure. But, that doesn’t mean that emptiness and despair are there forever. Fast forward several months of trauma therapy and not feeling like I’m making enough progress and as a last ditch effort, I decided to try ketamine-assisted psychotherapy (KAP) with ShaMynds Healing Center. In this place where I was full of fear and desperation, telling these strangers ‘this has to work,’ I found myself. I had this vision of what a happy and healed Lindsey would be like, look like, act like, live like, love like, I wanted her so badly, so desperately. With the help of Dr. Ahmad and Meg Lear I have not only found her, I’ve gone beyond what I even thought was possible in becoming the Lindsey I deserve to be. Dr. Ahmad and Meg are true heroes, I owe my life to them, and not only that, but I found out how to be my own hero too and that is surely something to celebrate. KAP with these heroes, a lot of hard internal work and following their specific guidance has helped me process my trauma, develop healthy coping skills, calm my nervous system, think differently, react differently or not react at all. It was the key that unlocked so much that I had buried into the depths of my being. I am enlightened to how amazing my life truly is and for the first time in my life, I actually FEEL it. I feel what I thought was impossible. As crazy as it feels to say out loud, “I forgive my abuser and am grateful for the experiences that brought me here.” Regardless of how traumatic my experiences were, I would not be who I am now without them. My deepest appreciation goes to the team at ShaMynds for giving me my life back, for introducing me to myself and for now being able to live as the best version of myself that those who are most important to me, deserve. If you’re struggling as I was, I encourage you to find a way to do this. To desperately commit to all the things that are a part of KAP and integration. You may just save yourself. You may just find yourself. I realize I’ve shared something so close and personal here and that I’ve made myself vulnerable, but I feel the responsibility to pay it forward, to share about my experience. As a mental health provider who has referred clients I participated in the group experience mostly out of curiosity. It was profound yet gentle. The facilitators and guides are extremely tender and nurturing.. it’s all about set and setting and doing this in a place and with people to feel safe in… this is the place!
