Fantastic experience: I tried the virtual on-demand CGH portal and found the process to be efficient and informative. The medical representative reviewed my symptoms, asked a few clarifying questions and recommended two medications to try to alleviate my issue. One is a behind-the-counter med that she had the prescription for within minutes of our call ending and she recommended the next step to consider should these meds not work.

I usually see one of the nurse practitioners for my annual exam - Allison Lindstrom was fantastic and I started seeing Pascale last year - She is WONDERFUL! She is very easy to talk to and listens to all of my concerns. I never feel rushed and always feel confident in the plan of care that was thoroughly thought out given my history.

Negative experience: Incompetent office staff. They partner with unscrupulous medical providers. Dr. Nathanson is a great gastro doc but the front office staff has proven incompetent at multiple appointments. No due diligence there! They insist on using "Mobile Anesthesiologists" for procedures who has a Google rating of 1.3 due to unethical billing practices to patients. Their partner was seemingly not vetted and threatens honest patients with collections, patients who have paid their bills months prior. Front staff ALWAYS screws up EACH time I've been there. They forget the number for your ride home so you have to call them yourself in your drugged stupor. They bring to the room to prep for a colonoscopy when you are there for an upper GI scope. I've suffered enough transgressions from CGH while there are A LOT of other GI providers in the metro area.

Fantastic experience: Extremely happy with the facility and Dr Chung when Went there for colonoscopy and upper GI scope last fall. Dr Chung is very knowledgeable, very approachable. He answered all of my questions before the procedure and put me at ease. I also spoke to Dr Chung and received a procedure report with findings, including pictures and recommendations after procedure. As a Preop and recovery nurse having experience working in many hospitals and surgery centers offering GI procedures, I appreciate that a lot . Not many doctors will have such great bedside manners. I was very impressed by the smooth process , clean and modern interior with the latest, state of the-art equipment, professional, empathetic and efficient staff. I am grateful to the awesome surgical team and anesthesiologist at Comprehensive GI health for the smooth procedure and fast recovery and feeling good for the remainder of the day.

And Alyssa was absolutely incredible she was so comforting, taking the time to talk to me and explain things in a way that didn’t feel scary. Their bedside manner is exceptional, and I felt genuinely cared for the entire time. I’m so grateful for the level of compassion and professionalism they showed. Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: Dr. Riederman is an outstanding Physician! I feel so lucky that I found him! I have never been to a gastroenterologist before, and I wasn't sure what to expect. He was kind, patient, thorough, and he really took the time to understand and explain my situation. I would HIGHLY recommend Dr. Riederman! Especially in today's world where you sometimes feel like just a "number", Dr. Riederman saw me as a human being, and I am extremely grateful! 10/10 recommend!

Fantastic experience: Best staff / doctor's in the world. I can say after dealing with chronic conditions for over 20 years, they were able properly diagnose me and fix my symptoms in one visit in a very candid and authentic way. Can't highly recommend this practice enough. Dr. Chiao is the best!

Fantastic experience: Dr. Nathanson is an extraordinarily good physician. He is extremely knowledgeable as well as very compassionate, a rare find in today's overburdened medical system. He is very thorough and an excellent listener, taking the time to ask a lot of excellent questions in order to get to the core of the symptoms and problems. Then, he offers great treatment alternatives, as he is always on top of the latest gastroenterology options. He is a wonderful gastroenterologist, and I would highly recommend him to any patients.

Negative experience: Writing this review on behalf of my friend who had a bad experience here. I had a very disappointing and painful experience at this office. After a routine visit, I was left with a large, painful bruise on my arm from what should have been a simple blood draw. The bruising was severe enough to cause both discomfort and concern, and it clearly shows a lack of proper care and technique. Beyond the physical pain, I felt the staff rushed through the process without making sure I was comfortable. I told them that I’m developing issues and it felt like they weren’t listening. For a medical practice, attention to detail and patient care should be the top priority — unfortunately, that was not my experience here. I expected professionalism and careful handling, but instead, I walked away hurt and frustrated. I would not recommend this office, and I hope they take steps to improve their procedures and patient care moving forward.

Fantastic experience: Had to have a colonoscopy (definitely not something you look forward to). But I have to say that my entire experience Comprehensive Gastrointestinal Health was great! Denise made my appointment scheduling so easy! Then my when I had my appointment Ritalica at the front desk was so nice and made me feel comfortable during check in! Then Dr Chung was fantastic for my procedure. My nurse and anesthesiologist were also very kind and helpful! Felt well cared for throughout the entire experience.

Fantastic experience: This was my first virtual visit and it went really well. There was follow up from the office via phone on the next steps. I’m glad this was an option when in-person visits were limited for short notice.

Fantastic experience: This was an excellent experience! The staff was attentive, informative and friendly. They were so patient with me and answered all my questions (and I had many!). Also the facility was clean and very nice. These people knew what they were doing! My wife and I both had a great experience.

Negative experience: I have been a patient at this practice since 2022. It was great for the first 18 months. Now they don't answer the phone, they don't return calls, they don't respond to messages on their portal or emails. You might as well not have a GI for the way they ignore you in this practice.

Fantastic experience: I was referred to the practice (Dr Nathanson) last summer due to my reflux for a scope of my GI. Turns out I had Barrett’s Esophagus and a stomach ulcer. Dr Nathanson referred me to the weight management program and gave me medication. It’s about 9 months later and after regular meetings w the registered dieticians (Amy/Shilpa) and NP (Pascale), life coach/stress management (Jenn), I lost almost 20 pounds and made important changes to my lifestyle. I am grateful for the team. The experience was life changing and I am encouraged that I can manage my health and wellbeing with the tools that gave me.

Fantastic experience: I have had the pleasant experience of having Dr. Chung as my physician. He was able to identify a root issue during consultation and gave me a prescription to help with abdominal pain and with in a week performed a procedure to validate the issue and help me to get back on track. I also am working with Rebecca who is helping with some paperwork as the pain and inflammation and inability to eat was debilitating. I am looking for the dietician name but she was very helpful

Fantastic experience: I saw that Comprehensive GI was offering “On Demand” appts. I was seen within 5 minutes of filling out the form on their website by Mary (PA). Mary was excellent, spent a lot of time understanding my symptoms, changed my medicine (huge improvement) and provided the next step which was a procedure. This “On Demand” appt was on Wednesday and the procedure was scheduled for 2 days later on Friday. I’m an existing patient and my appt wasn’t until May. This service, Mary and Dr. Troy are phenomenal! I wish more practices would offer this “On Demand”!

Smiling faces like Katie and Cocoa especially in the procedure room. And even Rebecca stopping in just to check on me if I needed anything beforehand. So thankful for the care this team provides!

Fantastic experience: I called this office after playing phone tag for 6 weeks with another GI office. A helpful, friendly live human being answered right away. I was able to schedule my test within a week! Very comprehensive instructions were provided. I called once with a question, again reached a person immediately and got my question answered right away. My procedure went well - nurses (Orlando), anesthesia staff (Dr. Shaffer) and Dr. Chung were great. All of the team members were helpful and willing to answer questions (sometimes answering the same questions more than once as my memory was foggy coming out of anesthesi). The procedure was explained beforehand and the findings were reviewed immediately the test. Very satisfied with my care. They also offer other services with an holistic approach to care (dietitian, cognitive behavioral therapy, etc.).

Negative experience: Run of the mill GI doc, don't expect much from this clinic. Scheduling felt very unorganized, had to ask them three times to send a script over and it still never even got sent to my pharmacy. Nothing special about this clinic besides their inability to be helpful

Fantastic experience: I had a procedure with Dr. Nathanson today. My entire experience could not have been better. The Libertyville facility was beautiful and comfortable. The most impressive part to me was the entire staff. Kind, accommodating and understanding are words that come to mind when describing my experience with Kayla in scheduling. Once I was there every person I encountered made the entire experience seamless and smooth. It’s obvious that the doctors inspire the staff to treat everyone well.

Fantastic experience: I have GI struggles and Dr Chung has been incredible. He is so kind, patient, and very smart. He really cares about his patients. I currently am struggling with Gastritis. When I didn’t know why I was in so much pain he very quickly was able to get me in for an upper endoscopy and has been able to squeeze me in for appointments. He truly is an incredible doctor and I am so grateful I found him.

Fantastic experience: From start(checkin), to procedure prep(nursing, anesthesiolgy) to procedure itself(colonoscopy w MAC anesthesiology) and then post procedure care this practice is phenomenal. Dr. Chiao is very thorough, compassionate and reassuring. A true professional. And the Libertyville procedure center is state of the art, very clean and very comfortable. In this day and age where healthcare service is lacking this practice is an awesome exception.

Fantastic experience: I have gone to Dr. Nathanson for years for scopes and always have a great experience. More recently, he and his team of experts were able to diagnose and help me manage a newly developed lactose intolerance. Amy Foster was the dietician who gave me guidance on managing foods with dairy, and "the gut-directed hypnosis" from Jed Foster was incredibly helpful in managing symptoms. I set goals with Jed that I wanted to accomplish before a trip overseas, and he was willing to work with me in a short amount of time before I began my travels. I was a little skeptical of the hypnosis but it is more like meditation and was very helpful in managing my symptoms.

Fantastic experience: Second colonoscopy in five years. Professional team with great mobile reminders and emails to help explain upcoming procedures, preparations and medications. Dr Tara Troy very good at explaining results. No issues in 2019 or 2024.

Fantastic experience: Dr Chung was great, and my process for the procedure when I arrived was simple and faster than i anticipated. I was pretty nervous, not just about the procedure but about the drink for prep, and getting through the prep in general, but Mikayla at the front desk gave me great tips, and reassurance that the prep wasn't bad at all. Very happy with my experience!

Fantastic experience: There are not enough characters nor enough time to properly sing the praises of this firm. They literally and figuratively have saved my life. They are thorough, kind, supportive. They listen. They offer all the traditional services one would expect from a Gastroenterology group and so much more. I have visited both the Libertyville and Northbrook offices. They are clean, updated, beautiful, and welcoming. I have had an endoscopy and colonoscopy at their procedure center at the Northbrook office- the anesthesiologist asked me to call him by his first name, Dr. Chung was all smiles and had me at ease immediately. Rebecca Leary, an admin in Libertyville, is like an octopus with 8 appendages- answering phones, taking notes, checking patients in, helping others, always in motion and doing it always with grace and kindness. Amy Carson, a registered dietitian and nutritionist, has been integral in the shift I have made in my life and person these past 8 months. She is nonjudgmental, supportive, smart, patient, and motivational. And finally Nurse Practitioner Liz Moon- this woman is a GD gem. Brilliant. Quick. Responsive. Thorough. Negative experience: Incredibly frustrating admin team, they improperly added my insurance ID, one letter is wrong. The number of times I've had to call to get them to fix it is unacceptable. And as of today, they sent me a threatening letter WITH THE WRONG INSURANCE INFO, STILL!

Fantastic experience: I turned to Comprehensive GI after my previous doctor retired and I was left with his subpar replacement. After a consultation with Dr. Chiao I could tell he was the kind of doctor who really cared about getting to the roof of the problem, which is what I was desperately searching for. He really took his time with me, ordered tests my previous doctor never considered, and has called me personally to follow up. Very happy with Dr. Chiao, and his team and facility are also great. Their office is very nice and they are able to do bloodwork and minor procedures in-house which is very convenient.

Negative experience: Last week, On Monday, I got their number from my insurance and called them to make an app. A lady who is on the phone told me that they have spot on Wednesday and another one in October. She never told me any specific date, just Wednesday so I thought it’s on Wednesday of that week. After I made an app on the phone, I checked their google review and I was so happy that I found such a good team, was feeling lucky to have instant app. When I came there 8am in the morning that Wednesday, front desk lady asked my name and said “ You’ve an app next Wed” and just IGNORED me. She was so rude and unprofessional. I might be mistaken about date but I had to leave with no word!!! I’m feeling sorry that I’ve had such as experience from my first specialist office visit! Plus cause of mistaken date, my entire plan has changed and I’m still waiting to see a doctor but not here!!!

Fantastic experience: I am so impressed by the "boutique" care I received at Comprehensive Gastorintestinal Health for my recent colonoscopy screening -- private room, immediate attention, easy to park, and find. But most of all -- great, caring and friendly staff. The billing department helped me work with my insurance company to confirm my coverage with procedure and diagnosis codes in advance of my procedure. Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: I had such a positive experience with Katrina Christianson as my dietician! She is incredibly knowledgeable, smart, and compassionate. I sought out to rebuild my relationship with food and improve my diet, and she turned around my whole perspective about food. She inquired and worked to understand my history, habits, work, family life, and other factors. There were a lot of helpful methods and documents that taught me a lot about how to view food when social media and online has so much excess information about diet. She was objective, kind, resourceful, and trusting. Katrina was like the perfect food therapist hahah. I would definitely recommend her and would plan to go back to her if I ever need the guidance again!

Fantastic experience: Let me start with saying it was worth the wait to see Dr. Nathanson. I had been seeing another doctor at a big hospital practice and was not happy with the care I was receiving. So that led me to Comprehensive GI. During my first appt with Dr. N he was so caring, down to earth and he listened. Not only that but he spent a lot of time with me, way more than in past experiences with other doctors. I had a recent procedure since that first visit and the whole team was just awesome, caring, and kind. I would highly recommend visiting this practice if you have GI needs.

Negative experience: Customer service poor. Anesthesia group they use is mobile and the way they billed for preventive was not recognized by Cigna and left me with a $300 bill.

Fantastic experience: If you are hesitant to have a screening colonoscopy, you will be in great hands with Dr. Troy and her staff. Everyone from beginning to end was kind and knowledgeable. Dr. Troy came in before the procedure and after. She took the time to reassure and answer any questions.

Negative experience: after prepping for 3 days, cancelled my procedure at the very last moment because the anesthesiologist didn't like how i was answering questions. disappointing.

Fantastic experience: I have been a patient here since September and the team at Comprehensive GI is amazing! I have a fear and been avoidant of medical treatment due to previous trauma but the providers here make me feel supported and comfortable. Dr. Troy is great and always looks at treatment compassionately and recommends holistic treatments rather than pushing a bunch of medication. The nurses and NPs are such spectacular advocates and really go above and beyond with holding my insurance and specialty pharmacy accountable when they are being difficult. The office staff is super helpful with scheduling and being flexible with my work schedule. The lab techs are all so empathetic and understanding. I felt so defeated when I first got sick and I know I would not be where I am now without the people here. If you want a GI where they truly care about your treatment and getting you to remission, this is the GI for you.

Fantastic experience: Let’s face it nobody ever said, I can’t wait to get my colonoscopy! After meeting with the staff I have to say having a colonoscopy at CGH was breeze. Dr. Nathanson and his entire staff were so professional, kind and funny! Veronica was excellent in explaining my benefits and Dr. Nathanson was very thorough when explaining what to expect during the procedure. He is so down to earth and has a great sense of humor. I highly recommend CGH. I can’t wait until my next colonoscopy!!
