Fantastic experience: My eating disorder has mostly been in remission since I did intensive outpatient treatment. My therapist is from Emily Program and she has been on leave for a family emergency since July, probably through December. This has affected me negatively as I tried to overdose, but it didn’t work

Negative experience: I'd give no stars if I could. This refers to the adolescent residential program. PLEASE, find another program. When you voice your concerns, they are dismissed. Forget trying to line up with a different therapist for a better personality fit- it won't happen. We never felt heard. What a waste of time! Once I finally understood I was being misled and therapy was essentially only talking about meal plan compliance and weight- not addressing root cause AT ALL for MONTHS, I couldn't wait for discharge so we could find something else. The adult program was OK - I went through that myself so I believed that the adolescent program was going to be similar... but it turns out it wasn't. I regret trusting them for the adolescent program. Say NO to all adolescent programs. Even the intensive day program wasn't great.

Fantastic experience: The IOP program with Amy and Jenny is amazing! They share a wealth of knowledge in a comfortable, upbeat, encouraging, and supportive manner. I feel extremely lucky to be able to participate in the Emily Program. Thank you so much for the work you do!

Fantastic experience: The Emily Program saved my life. I’m eternally grateful for the support and dedication that my care team showed me! The staff are all world class. I have never felt more valued as a human being before, which is a gift the staff provide. That gift is so important as self esteem and body dissatisfaction often coincide with EDs. I will always recommend this location’s IDP and IOP to anyone struggling with food-related concerns.

Fantastic experience: Within a day or two of walking into the program, I was greeted by name. I was blown away by the amount of caring that the staff showed me by simply remembering my name. It was honestly the first real time I felt like someone genuinely cared about me and my wellbeing. To some, it might seem like a simple gesture, but to me, it meant the world. I felt very welcome, and not once did I feel like the staff/doctors/therapists were just there for a paycheck, or that I was being pushed through for someone else to deal with. And unfortunately for me, I've felt like that more often than not whenever I've received medical attention in the past from providers. The way that blocks/appointments were structured was incredibly helpful to me, as I've often struggled with structure. So between having an eating disorder and struggling with timing things, it was incredibly difficult for me to eat on a regular basis. It's still going to take me a while to be able to get into a solid schedule with getting in my meals and snacks, but creating these habits while in the group has gotten me off to a great start. Some of the teaching exercises seemed silly to me, and I didn't always want to participate in them, but I understand that while they may not beneficial to me, they could help others in their journey, and I'm still thankful I was able to experience them. I think my favorite parts of being in the program were yoga/art, personal therapy, and working on exposing myself to more and different kinds of foods. There are probably so many more great things I could talk about from being in the program, but these were the things that stick out the most to me at this time. I joked with multiple providers at the program about how I adore everyone there, but I hope I never see them again. Every single time, it was made abundantly clear that if I ever need or want help in the future with battling this disorder, I am more than welcome to reach out again, and will be welcomed back with open arms.

Fantastic experience: I owe my life to The Emily Program! Through the therapists education and support my eating disorder is more in control. I am continuously learning about different expects of having an eating disorder and how to management the relationship I have with food. While in their Grief Group I was able to come out of several years of being in a grief cloud from the loss of my husband, my home and my job. I have learned new skills to use to handle negative emotions and anxiety. The support, friendships and education I have received have changed my life forever!

Fantastic experience: My son was enrolled completely against his will (per recommendation by his mental health care team) as he was in deep denial of having a disorder. The first day of the program he said he'd never go back but by the end of that week, he felt the compassion of the team and the acceptance of the other clients and realized it was exactly where he needed to be. He has learned so much about his disorder and how to use the appropriate tools to work through it. I believe this approach to eating disorders is life saving.

Fantastic experience: An absolutely amazing program with knowledgeable and caring staff. Of course healing is up to the individual but having the right tools and people guiding your recovery is just as important. Not only do they treat the problem but treat the underlying cause and assist in developing positive coping skills. We wish we would've waited for an opening here rather than admitting our loved one to a facility that had a more immediate opening. We admitted our loved one to another facility in St. Louis Park because we didn't understand ED and we were scared. Now knowing what we know a year later after the first attempt at help we should've waited for an opening at Emily. ED is such a scary thing but the right treatment option means everything. A huge shout out to the Emily Program and giant thanks for caring.

Fantastic experience: The staff at The Emily Program are human-centered, patient, and authentic. They share their vulnerabilities and experiences to help me shape my own healing path. I feel seen, heard, and held by both therapist and dietician. Their breadth of wisdom and knowledge supported me when I was feeling confused, frustrated, and anxious about food, body image, and overall health. Now I have gained some sense of balance and empowered myself via their guidance. Fantastic experience: Excellent kind-hearted clinicians doing great work. They created a supportive environment for healing and growth. The lessons I learned during my time have changed me for the better. 100% recommend for anyone who needs to heal their relationships with food and their body.

Fantastic experience: This program saved my life... dedicated counselors who are kind, consistent & strong resources that helped me get my head out of a bottle and back into meals & nourishment. Plus, I'm very strong headed, so they worked extra hard! And then to be able to return, seamlessly, when I needed the latest upgrade.

Fantastic experience: I am attending IDP (Intensive Day Programming) virtually. I am very impressed with how the program is run and how supportive the environment/group members are! If you are needing help I recommend the Emily Program! I would not be where I am now if it were not for this program!

The receptionist lady was super nice when booking my first original appointment for the Emily Program! I appreciate all the help you all offer to people like myself who suffer with eating disorders. I am thankful for places like this who offer help to those of us who struggle with this daily battle for survival without putting the extra added stigma some people perceive eating disorders as. Negative experience: Awful program. I first started in their IOP which was 5 days a week. I was there for 2 days and the whole time I got 0 help, didn't get taught the "rules", and felt alienated the entire time. I've never been meant to feel so out of my comfort zone by a group therapy ever before. I left telling my therapist there that I felt like I was thrown to the wolves with no help, no guidance, and felt like I was just not feeling like I belonged at all. Mind you I had waited 3 months to get into this program hopeful that it would help me with my ED habits. I then got put on the waitlist for the outpatient therapy that was 1 day a week. This was a 6 month+ wait. It was all virtual which does not help me or my depression in the least. The "therapist" was not very good either. She never gave me any tips or anything on how to stop the thoughts or habits other than 3 meals a day and 3 snacks a day. She never really talked to me about what mattered. She ended up leaving the Emily Program and asked if I would like to get a transfer to another therapist within the Emily Program. I said an emphatic no. I then was told I could always come back. The worst part is that I was billed over a thousand dollars for the 2 days I was in IOP. Now at the beginning of going into IOP I told them I could not afford it and they told me they were going to cover it all for me because of my predicament. They lied. I was then told by billing that because I could not pay my bill that I would never be able to return to the Emily Program. I've been receiving these letters from them for months after I was even in their system. I would never recommend this place. I would say that if you need help with an ED like I did, either go to Melrose (which I have heard great things about) or find an individual therapist who specializes in EDs not related to the Emily Program.

Fantastic experience: Inpatient and follow up program was very helpful for me. Well organized, great staff and helped me with ideas that would sustain my new eating habits into my everyday experience. Would recommend to anyone dealing with an eating disorder.

Fantastic experience: I have been working with a therapist and dietitian at TEP since I was first diagnosed in October 2017. I have had a few different ones as some left the company through my treatment, but I feel like I have had some amazing therapists and dietitians in my time there. Kris Johnson, my therapist, is FABULOUS! I would highly recommend her to anyone. Regina, my dietitian, is FABULOUS too. She really worked diligently with me in the past year after I received a heart disease diagnosis. Thank you to all my therapists and dietitians for all you helped me navigate!! I feel fully recovered and ready to tackle life on my own now!

Fantastic experience: I've been with TEP through all levels of care. It's not perfect, but it's better than most eating disorder treatment programs out there.

Positive experience: Emily Program helped me get from being on my deathbed to seeing the light in recovering from an ED. Some strengths? Psych education was highly beneficial for me, their meal plans are individualized, and every staff member I met with from dietician to therapist had my recovery goals in best interest. The only negatives I really have are that they didn’t really enforce the attendance policy within my group and it was super distracting for me to have people trickling in 1-2 hours late all the time. Also that they try and convince you of things that aren’t true, like that processed foods are the equivalent to fresh, which is fine but I have knowledge in nutrition so it didn’t work to try and fool myself like that. Otherwise the only thing I have to close off with is join The Emily Program with the mindset of ready to start recovery and get better, as it is not their job to force you to get better, and it is a much more enjoyable experience if you are willing to work with the staff members to meet your goals.

Fantastic experience: Though eating disorder recovery is a painful experience, my teen daughter learned skills that she will carry with her for a lifetime and forged strong friendships in residential care at the Emily Program. It was very difficult to let go of control as a parent and unlearn/relearn how to communicate with my daughter & let the eating disorder experts do their job, but so worth it for the growth we all experienced. Who knew that after such a devastating diagnosis, we'd all walk away feeling stronger six months down the road? If you or your loved one is struggling with an eating disorder, please talk to your doctor and get help. Our MD referred us, and the Emily Program helped our family.

Negative experience: I previously had great experience here until they changed their treatment model and forced me out with extremely limited notice. This caused me to relapse and I now have extreme anxiety about future patient abandonment. Great if you can afford IOP, but for anyone else be cautious.

Negative experience: This place is a joke! The totally mishandled my daughter's care from the beginning. I should have researched more before I sent her here. Don't send your children here...this place is TERRIBLE!

Negative experience: I emailed and tried calling and no answer! The email I did received said they would answer me within 1-3 business days!! Like I need help now, not 1-3 business days from now! Don't waste your time going here!

Negative experience: Could be a really great program. Unfortunately, they don’t care much about their clients. I was told by The Emily Program that my insurance was covering my program. I was shocked to receive a bill for $700. Come to find out my insurance was only covering part of it. I had to leave because I couldn’t afford it. I tried to settle my account and they tried to sue me. Thanks for nothing.

Negative experience: Don't waste your time! They will mix up your appointments, they will send you to a rookie (student in training) who is clueless about most things - was it because my insurance did not pay much?? Too many young people working there who are unable to relate to the issues of the elderly!

Negative experience: In the beginning I was happy until my therapist quit. I had made alot of progress up to that point. I had been seeing her for a year. I felt she didn't take into account our commitment to the program. She quit without finishing it to the end. I had tried two other councillors with poor results. I just walked away in frustration. I am going to try again just not here. I dont know why the Emily program has a high turnover rate with therapists. Two other people I knew there also went through the same situation as I did.

Fantastic experience: I think that this is a great place for healing.... They have different levels of service so you can get the level of care that fits you.
