Fitness NC is open to members 24 hours a day 7 days a week including weekends and holidays so that you never have to miss a workout! We offer personal training, online personal training, a variety of group classes in the fitness facility, online classes, nutrition coaching, tanning, meal prepping, and top of the line gym equipment to help achieve your health and wellness fitness goals. We do accept a lot of different health insurance plans. Our friendly staff is available during the gym’s staffed hours to happily assist you with any questions or concerns you may have. But remember you will have access to the gym 24/7. We also can track your physical progress or goals with our membership app.

Fantastic experience: Love it here. I use both this location and the one in Havelock multiple times a week. It has all the equipment needed, It is rarely crowded, the staff is always friendly. If you ever have an issue, they do everything in their power to take care of it immediately. I’m noticing some negative reviews, if you have tried the gym in the past and hated it I truly do suggest trying again. They have done so many things to improve over the last year and a half. And not only that if you give them a suggestion, they actually listen to you. 10/10
Negative experience: Was scathingly rude for no reason. We will never be dealing with this owner again.
Negative experience: My son has been attending Fitness NC as a guest for several months with no issues. I just went to try and get a membership for him at the gym in Newport. The gentleman at the desk had me contact his boss Tina via the phone. She was the rudest person I have ever spoken to. She immediately started berating teenagers and their parents. She would not stop fussing about her customers and by the time she was done with her tirade I left the gym in tears. My son will never step foot in that gym again. Anyone who has a teenager who attends that gym alone, beware.
Negative experience: In town for a short time and looking for a short term membership. Called all listed phone numbers and nobody answered, went directly to the location and nobody working the desk. Guess I'll look elsewhere.
Fantastic experience: In times of inconvenience, this gym is is everything one would hope for, as it is available and open to all all day, everyday. I, as a student usually only use the gym during the summer months when there is no school. In the time I do get to workout here, I realize how beneficial the place is considering the membership is only fifteen dollars a month. The versatility that it can bring to your workouts is indispensable if you know what you’re doing. In the case that you don’t, I’m sure members around you are keen enough to help you out.

Fantastic experience: While visiting the area I went a coupla times with a friend who is a local there. I had a great workout and they have all the necessary equipment I needed. It's not a huge gym but it's just a perfect size place. It's clean and I loved it. They have sanitary wipes stations all around for your convenience. Just make sure you wipe down your equipment after use. Thank you. ❤️
Negative experience: This gym is just as bad as Havelocks fitness nc. It’s smells gross and machines take forever to get repaired IF they can afford it which is a tossup.
Negative experience: Why they need to put camera ?? And watch us while they are home instead a regular camera and only watch inside the gym is not safe at all and the manager was so horrible and keep force people to write a review a good review to make look good … I will not recommend this gym is nasty and dirty specially and bathroom

Negative experience: This place has gym equipment which is why I give two stars.... half the treadmills are broken, half the leg machines are broken, half the AC is broken, half of the bathroom is always broken... you got the idea... TruFit is only 3 minutes up the road!!!!

Fantastic experience: Shoutout to Mitch for hooking a crew of us that came out there for a week doing some training for our unit. Always nice to get a good price instead of being charged a month or a daily price when you're only there a short time. Went to this area for some military training and Mitch helped us out big time. Also gave us some solid places to grab some grub. Thanks again! Would definitely return if I'm put there again!
Negative experience: This place is slowly going down hill, use to be a big tattoo guy that knew about working out and gym equipment, super helpful, motivating, prices going up , helpful staff gone, im out too, creepy vibes from some of the new staff , rumors of wifi cameras
Fantastic experience: I have been going to this gym and the Havelock location as well, for around a year now. I have noticed new cameras, but being that Mitch is the manager of at least 4 locations that I am aware of- he can’t be at every gym at once.. Any reasonable human being understands that those wifi cameras make it easier for Mitch and the owner to check in on the location, rather than driving to each of them.. I have never had any issues in this gym. For the price and the equipment this gym offers, and the ability to utilize different locations, you can’t beat it. I was personally trained by Mitch and lost over 40 lbs. The knowledge, professionalism, and intensity in training is unmatched. Couldn’t be happier.
Fantastic experience: Worked out at a lot of gyms in the past and the staff between this location and the havelock location really make the gyms feel homey. the gyms have 24/7 surveillance which is great, overall thoroughly enjoy my experience with this chain of gyms.

Negative experience: I can to this place a few times and every time it’s left a bad taste in my mouth. This guy Mitch is the most horrible Manager I’ve seen and it’s pretty sad when you go through the reviews and you can blatantly tell he wrote them for himself.
Negative experience: Unprofessional regional manager, higher management difficult/impossible to reach for both members and staff. Member and staff concerns are not being listened to. Personal cameras installed in the gym are creepy and many women have expressed this but are just being told they’re for “safety concerns”.
Fantastic experience: I have been working out since July and I couldn't be more pleased with the results. I love the gym! The fact that you can workout whenever you want 24/7 is awesome. The staff is great and Mitch is extremely knowledgeable and helpful. I highly recommend this gym!!!
Negative experience: First impressions were extremely deceiving, I thought it would be a great place to work out, matt, and nick were so helpful and created a great atmosphere but the second manager mitch walked in on my second visit, I instantly knew I would not be back. If you care about employees being treated with respect then this is not the place for you. The manager was extremely unprofessional, rude, and overall abrasive. His presence made me uneasy, which was exacerbated by finding out he had placed personal cameras around the gym. I no longer we felt safe and extend my concern for all other women that attend this gym. Please be cautious!
Negative experience: There are cameras in inappropriate places and the manager Mitch is a creep who watches girls stretch in his little trailer outback. How he hasn’t been fired never the less taken to court for his unprofessional actions. The gym is a place people go to feel better about themselves not get spyed on.
Fantastic experience: Over the past 11 months this gym has served as a great low cost opportunity (for many many people who don't pay a membership fee) for the local population of Newport. I encourage anyone around to check it out.
Negative experience: Ever since Micromanaging Jeffery Epstein took over Fitness Newport NC it’s gone down the hole. Mitch is sitting in his car eyeballing your girl and when he’s at home. The weirdo set up personal cameras and he’s probably watching you workout at home. The man fired all the employees worth anything, and can’t even fix up anything in the gym. I’ve been a member for quite some time and in the past 5 months I’ve seen the police there 3 times! Mitch is creating drama over everything he can. I’ll only return to this gym if this weirdo is out of there.
Negative experience: Great gym would've recommended it until recently. This new guy mitch is a consistent liar and clearly has fake reviews written about the gym. The atmosphere is terrible and uncomfortable now that he has taken over. The old personnel were professional, kind and the life of the gym. Now that mitch is "running" the place I will not be attending recommending this gym to anyone.
Fantastic experience: Amazing place to go people are chill and there's a good atmosphere and plus it's fun work out there and Mitch is a good guy and is always giving advice when asked
Fantastic experience: I have been coming to this gym as well as the other fitness NC gyms for almost 2 years and have had nothing but great experiences since the general manager Mitch has taken over. Mitch has single handedly turned this franchise around working hard getting new equipment; hiring competent employees; and training countless patrons to better their lives. Mitch works countless hours trying to better this gym along with the 4 other gyms.
Negative experience: *** UPDATE 11/15*** I received a call from the district manager over the weekend, which I appreciated, and we had a productive conversation about the Newport location. I & other members were even encouraged to continue sharing critical feedback on Google to help the manager secure attention & funding to address our concerns. As I and others have pointed out, a spate of suspicious reviews continue to be generated to obfuscate our concerns. A basic interrogation of these recent 5-star reviews indicate they are submitted by staff, close associates of the staff, or people who are clearly not Fitness NC Newport members or familiar with it (e.g., we have had no trainer on staff at this location since it was Snap Fitness). If Fitness NC is encouraging the creation of these reviews, especially after my conversation with the district manager, it is a disingenuous contradiction of the spirit of our conversation. Without diving into the personal dynamics of the local staff and their management, which is frankly none of my business, I would challenge company leadership to take a customer survey of this location and get real feedback on the local staff - Derek & Matt in particular. They are being presented as "angry" in these bogus reviews - listen to your customers and I believe you'll find these two were overwhelmingly appreciated by your client base here at Newport. If there is a disconnect between your customer base and what you are being fed, don't you think that warrants further investigation? *** I will preface this review by saying I absolutely love this gym location. I have been exercising here for nearly four years, when this location was a Snap Fitness. The local staff are extremely friendly & helpful, and have always worked hard to build a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Unfortunately, the quality of this gym took a downturn after Hurricane Florence, when the gym switched franchises from Snap Fitness to Fitness NC. This location was completely flooded during Hurricane Florence, and since then, I have witnessed little to no upgrades, repair or maintenance to the equipment or facilities. In addition to our monthly membership , we are now charged an annual maintenance fee. When the owner visits the location - which is infrequent - members ask about getting concerns addressed. To date, other than seeing a dusty/used treadmill brought in from storage, no new equipment has been introduced to the location. We have multiple treadmills and ellipticals that do not function, and local staff are being told to cobble parts together to make them work, without further support. Aside from the few consistent local staff that we've had over the last several years, there is a high turnover rate of staff at this location, and the Havelock location. I have been told by multiple staff members that they frequently encounter pay issues, if they were paid at all. The new district manager seems to be overwhelmed. To his credit, this is likely the fault of the company's owners, and not himself. When criticism / suggestions about improving the gym are presented, he has deferred blame to the owner, Ian, who apparently is impossible to reach. Clients have no way of directing complaints/feedback beyond him. The gym has a working CC-TV system installed, which has been in place since the location was Snap Fitness. The district manager has since installed Wifi cameras. Multiple women in the gym have expressed discomfort with the presence of these Wifi cameras in the gym. The only new additions I have seen to the gym is a vending machine for expensive energy drinks which no one purchases and low quality branding/merchandise which no one buys outside of T-shirts. We don't need energy drinks and smart watches, we want refurbished equipment, personal training classes, and other community building outreach. This gym has a lot of potential, and again the local staff is very energetic and engaged with the community. I wish the leadership and/or ownership of the gym gave the impression they cared about improving the location.

Fantastic experience: Came here as a recommendation from a friend while I was traveling. Just needed a good gym to hold me over for a week. Plenty of equipment, pretty much everything you’d need, 24 hours made it easy for me to do what I wanted when I wanted and it was very to busy or crowded!

Positive experience: Was passing through Newport visiting family and hit up the gym in the afternoon. The staff was cool with me getting a workout in even though I wasn't a member. They even took time to show me around.

Fantastic experience: This is an awesome gym and from my perspective. All the staff that I have met from Mitch to Christine have been very accommodating and respectful and excited to help anyone with there goal. I do know there have been some angry employees Matt and Derek that have been let go of recently and evidently they are trying to discredit the manager out of spite, and pettiness. I see on the reviews there seems to be a few in the staff were complaining of the cameras. Having these cameras is a very important part of the safety that benefits both the well meaning staff and the safety it provides for the members during time when staff is not available. The negative sentiment only lead me and other intelligent individuals to conclude that anyone who disapproves of the cameras has ulterior motives. As far as the new district manager is concerned he cares a great deal about the gym from everything I have seen, and has worked tirelessly to fix any problem he can fix given his limitations.
Fantastic experience: I have so enjoyed being a member of gym. It is such ashamed to watch a few ruin it for everybody over the false claims I read in reviews. Mitch Carper has been a very positive influence at the gym and has proven he has a level headed professional process in place for the gyms future success. The security system he has in place definitely makes me feel much more secure and able to enjoy the gym.
Negative experience: For starters, I have been consistently coming to the Newport location, 5-6 times a week, for almost a year now. I have never felt “unwelcome” or “out-of-place” here. The members are very friendly and the staff are helpful. The gym is small and there are periods throughout the day when there is only one, if that at all, other person exercising. However, new management, Mitch, has caused morale to decrease and become quite toxic. Instead of fixing broken machines and equipment with the additional yearly fee members have to pay, money is being used for cheap smart watches, sunglasses, and highly priced attire. Attached are pictures of an elliptical and a treadmill that have been broken/require maintenance for a long period of time. Not pictured is our only leg extension machine that just recently broke. Who knows when this will get fixed. As seen in the treadmill picture, it has been “replaced” by a run down treadmill that looks like it came from the dump. The first picture shown is of a private webcam that Mitch uses at home to watch. No one else has access to the feed produced by the wifi cameras. Webcams were placed in cubbies by tape which regularly cause them to fall over. As a woman, who by chance could show up to the gym with no other members exercising, this is very discomforting to know that a male is watching me exercise from his home. Hoping the proper measures are taken to resolve these issues.

Negative experience: This gym has great employees like Matt and Derek. I have made many friends at this gym. I call them my gym family. Everything was going good at this gym until a new district manager was hired named Mitch. He has set up his own personal web cameras and watches people from his camper he has parked in the parking lot at the gym. He has made the atmosphere negative at the gym. Everyone gets upset when Mitch walks in. He has wasted time and money on his cameras and other things instead of building the gym up and fixing things.
Negative experience: To preface this review, I would like to say that I love this gym and since I’ve been a member I have enjoyed coming. Unfortunately recently things have been going down hill. As of two months ago, after the year of me coming to this gym, a new “regional manger” of sorts named Mitch has made an appearance and caused nothing but drama and a bad atmosphere. After a year of coming here I’ve seen him maybe 3-4 times and each time I’ve seen him there has been nothing but toxicity and disputes. He has ran off 3 fantastic employees that I’ve seen spend countless hours at this gym helping and making it such a great experience. One is Matt, he would is mostly the main reason I continued to come to this gym and better myself. Second is Derek, every time I come here he has been such a help and has created such a friendly and caring atmosphere. To see this “manager” run off two indisputably great employees genuinely upsets me. Not only has he done that but also created an environment where close friends of mine have refused to come to this gym anymore because they do not what to cause any problems. This, in my opinion, is completely unacceptable. The owners must step in before this becomes a further issue, Mitch has made horrendous claims to local PD and caused LEGAL ISSUES. He is become petty and will drive so many members away.
Negative experience: I workout at this gym with my friends and we enjoy this place. Recently a new manager was hired named Mitch and the gym as fallen apart. The equipment needs to be fixed and Mitch needs to be fired. Derek is the guy that is always working there and trying to make the gym a better place but he has no help from the new manager Mitch. My friends and I will find a new gym to workout at but will return when Mitch is gone.
Negative experience: Ever since moving to the area I was longing for a gym community like the one I had to leave in Holly Ridge. When I started going to Fitness NC all of the employees Garrett, Matt, and Derek and many others were so friendly. I immediately felt like family. Unfortunately, new management has tried to tear this sense of community apart. The new district manager has put his own PERSONAL cameras in the gym and watches them from home. Myself and many others included do not feel comfortable with the cameras being watched 24/7. The district manager has camped outside of the gym, the equipment in the gym is so old and needs replacing and the owner is young and does not care about the well being of the gym only the money. I am writing this review so that the actual owner and his father will see this and hopefully try to do something about it. If you just let a gym SIT and don't do anything to keep up with it it's going to go to waist. This is what is beginning to happen.
Negative experience: I moved to this gym for the great rate and local atmosphere and the employees and patrons have been awesome, friendly, and helpful.. HOWEVER.. the district manager, Mitch, took this place downhill.. not only did he install personal, private cameras to watch the patrons of the gym, but he has done nothing to fix the building when there’s flooding, update and replace gym equipment, or make the patrons feel welcome. As a man i am not bothered by the cameras but I have been told by several women at the gym that they feel uncomfortable knowing Mitch has put his own private cameras to watch the patrons, all the while not fixing the existing security camera system provided by the gym itself. Besides Mitch, I love this place. I feel at home here. I’ll have to find another location until this issue is resolved

Hes not in your face about how you should be lifting because well quite frankly i dont think he does, but not the point he is just super nice and i love this gym so much!
