Fantastic experience: I'm OBSESSED with this karate school!They are all about performance and discipline.The instructors are top-notch, super knowledgeable, and genuinely care about their students' growth. My son's been training here and has seen some serious improvement in his focus and confidence. the community is like one big happy family - everyone supports and motivates each other 10/10 would recommend to anyone looking to kickstart their martial arts journey or take their skills to the next level 5 stars isn't enough, I'd give 'em 10 if I could!!!

Fantastic experience: Mom of 3 here, 2 of which are special needs. If you’re looking for a place where your child will get in better shape while learning self-defense, life skills and discipline skills such as following directions, communicating with others respectfully, increasing self-confidence and learning the value of teamwork, then look no further. However, that’s not what makes this place stand out above all the rest- the incredibly friendly and inclusive environment they’ve created is their real treasure! As a constantly-stressed out mom, this is the only time during my week where I feel calm. You will walk in and by the end of the first class, you’ll already feel like you’re part of the family, and your child will already feel they’re 100% included and that they have gained an entire team of friends. This is thanks to both the instructors AND the coaches. The instructors are incredibly kind and patient, and they welcome ALL learners- including my special needs son. Their attention to detail is impressive- they will notice if your child needs a little extra help and they’ll hone in him/her to help perfect a technique, they will notice when your child is needing a little encouragement and will effectively make that happen. Then there’s the coaches! These are older children in the program who have higher belts who come in and pay it forward by helping out, guiding and encouraging the newer belts, and offering 1 on 1 support. For example, I just watched Coach Kayla (can’t be more than 13 or 14) encourage and help more children in one 45 minute class than I’ve seen some teachers do to their classroom students in a 6 hour school day. I gain nothing from posting this review..but this place is a GEM and if it helps out even one fellow mama, then it’s worth it! Definitely trial one class and by the time you walk out, you’ll know exactly what I’m talking about and you’ll agree!

Fantastic experience: Highly recommended program. Frank and Chris, along with Justin and the rest of the young staff run an excellent program. They are great coaches and are patient with the little ones that continue to get better each week. Ive seen tremendous progress in my 3 year olds listening skills on and off the mat. He also talks about karate and his coaches on the off days and looks forward to the obstacle courses/various stations they have set up for them during class. Also clean bathroom, which my child happens to have to go into each week lol

Fantastic experience: Sensi Chris and sampai Frank are amazing teachers who really care. I am in the Adult class and I have never felt so welcomed everybody is amazing and so nice and helpful and such a no judgement free zone. Even though I can’t do everything fast like every one else due to illness I never feel that way in class. Everybody so accommodating. I finally found my tribe and adore them all.

Fantastic experience: Updated 11/20/24 - I really appreciate all the Satori teachers and their support during the board breaking event yesterday. I could tell my daughter was having trouble with some of it. Coach Riley, Sensei Chris, and Riley’s mom helped her at various points and talked to her. I think board breaking is such a good experience for her, teaches technique, that it’s not always about brute force… don’t give up and try again. After one of the palm strikes, I could tell she didn’t want to break any more boards. Sensei Chris spoke to her for a bit. She eventually tried again and kept doing the board breaking. I’m really appreciative of all the support and the teachers being there for her. Updated - 10/5/24 We had a nerf bday party at Satori and it was the best! They did karate specific activities in the beginning, cake then the nerf. All the kids had a blast. The 2 bday kids thought cutting the cake with a samurai sword was really cool. Thank you Sensei Chris, Senpai Frank and Coach Riley for the wonderful day! Original Review— My 3 year old son has been going to Satori for 9 months. I like how they make the class fun but also consistent. 3 or 4 kids in each activity station. There is always a talk the teacher does with them for a couple of minutes, like eating good food, what to do if you’re lost, saying thank you, etc. Even the warm ups are fun. The teacher’s are great. Sensei Chris, Sempai Jaylan, Sempai Riley, Coach Sara, Coach Ian- thank you! My 6 year old daughter ended up recently signing up because she’s been watching her younger brother’s class. I’m amazed at how they do drills that are taught in adult classes. There’s a good amount of girls in her class which makes her want to participate more. We do one class a week. Wish I could do 2 per week since it’s such a great school but hard to do it with my schedule. I also like how they told my daughter “a black belt is a white belt who never gave up.”

Fantastic experience: My 4-year-old son loves going to Satori, and as a parent, I couldn’t be more pleased with Sempai Frank, Sensei Chris, and the classes and framework they use with the little kids. It’s beyond impressive to watch Sempai Frank with the kids- he has a magical talent that keeps the kids listening and focused while also having a ton of fun. And my favorite part as a mom- after the karate and fun and running around, Sempai Frank does a little lesson that changes each week- from first time listening, to eating healthy foods, drinking water for “clean energy” - thank you Satori for helping parents drill this into the kids! Satori is wonderful, go check it out!

Fantastic experience: This place has truly changed my nephews life! He went from introverted wanting to stay home all the time to a happy teenager who loves karate and trying new things. I cannot thank Chris and Frank enough for all they have done for my nephew and how great they are with him, and all the students for that matter.

Fantastic experience: Love bringing my daughters here. Chris Frank and all the couches are so wonderful with the kids. They make all the kids feel welcomed, accepted and confident. I’ve seen such growth in my girls and it’s only been a few weeks. Couch Liam is so patient and helpful to my daughter, it melts my heart watching him help every kid in the class. It’s always a great time. Highly recommend!!!

Fantastic experience: We love Satori academy! Both of my girls come here and are so excited to come to their classes. Sensei Chris and Sempai Frank are great mentors, not only guiding the kids through learning martial arts but also through good advice (healthy lifestyle, listening to parents, respect for others, bullying etc.). My only regret is that I didn't start the girls sooner.

Fantastic experience: My son takes classes at Satori Academy of Martial Arts (MIDDLETOWN, NJ). Chris and Kevin know every single child that walks i to their studio, by name. These kids have a great connection to their instructors. My son is shy, but excels on the mat. He wants to do well. The studio is clean, well organized, friendly atmosphere and welcoming to all.

Fantastic experience: We started here this year and have loved every second. The instructors are amazing with the kids both on the mat and off. My son is so so happy to be part of this school loves the staff. The "customer service" is also so amazing and they make it easy to understand.

Fantastic experience: Satori Academy has been a wonderful new part of both my life and my son's. For my son he is finding his own sense of self confidence and for myself a strong sense of activity which has contributed to be losing 25 pounds to date. Sensei Chris and Sempai Frank contribute to a sense of family and welcoming to all who walk through their doors and I can't recommend enough anyone with an inkling of interest to give it a shot at Satori of Middletown.

Fantastic experience: Our family loves Satori Academy. Sensei Frank and Sensei Chris are amazing with the kids. They are so patient and incredibly welcoming. They worked with our littlest one to really build his confidence and join the class after being shy in the begining. Our boys are becoming more confident and are also becoming better humans because of the life lessons after each class.

Every parent and every child treats you as if your family. Their passion for teaching not only martial arts but also life skills is untouched by others. Satori is not just an every Tuesday and Thursday class, it’s home.

Fantastic experience: We love Satori Middletown. The instructors are amazing and great with the kids. My daughter is a bit shy and not too confident. We have seen such a difference in her since she started. Great place to train.

Negative experience: Brought my daughter to a birthday party here. Staff was great and a nice facility. They added my phone number to their list and have not stopped texting me with specials. There is no opt out option. Not difficult to block the number but it comes off as either pushy or not well thought out.

Fantastic experience: Satori Middletown is a great place to learn MMA with others. I joined an adult class and it is fun, educational and they get you in shape. Sempai Frank and Sensai Chris are both great teachers as well as highly proficient at MMA. I highly recommend Satori Middletown.

Fantastic experience: This martial arts program has been a very good experience. Sensei Chris and the team are all very inclusive, personable, and each bring their own amazing energy to the classes. They are very engaging with the children and always switch it up to make sure the kids have an excellent time while learning exciting new techniques. I would highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: My 7 year old is new to karate and his experience thus far this year has been great. The instructors keep the classes fun and engaging, and we can see the progress he has made in just a few months. He was also very excited when he received a postcard in the mail with a personal message from Sensei Chris citing his progress and new belt which was a very nice touch!

Fantastic experience: After trying out many different sports and activities that didn't stick, we convinced my 7-year-old that he should try martial arts. At first, he was hesitant but agreed to try one class. The minute he left the mat, he wanted to sign up! We are thrilled with his enthusiasm and how determined he is at these classes. Sensei Chris and his team are wonderful instructors. They have just the right mix of encouraging focus and technique while still making it fun for the kids. I love the "Mat Chats" where they discuss a variety of different topics to encourage the children to be the best they can be. Sometimes kids are more willing to listen to their awesome instructor than they are their parent! Highly recommend this school!

Sensei Chris is the perfect instructor for beginners or advanced pupils as well. This is not just a pass time for their instructors. Attention is given to every detail to ensure that lessons are executed with effectiveness and efficiency. The hows and whys of every movement are explained with a welcomed accommodation to every question you have. It is with great satisfaction that I rate and recommend this institution. Fantastic experience: In the early 90's I got involved in martial arts, and it changed my life. Now, as a parent, I wanted to share that gift with my daughter. After checking out a dozen different schools, we chose Satori and joined together in January 2023. For me, it's reignited an old passion, and helped me get back into the best shape I've been in since I've been in my twenties. But more than that, it's inspired my daughter, gotten her off the electronic devices and truly interested in martial arts. It's truly a community you will not find anywhere else. Everyone is vested in your success! The instructors motivate and encourage, all while making it fun and enjoyable. Beyond just the exercise, there is an emphasis on respect, focus, and hard work. Sensei Chris, Senpais Jaylen, Riley and Michelle are wonderful with students of ALL ages! Fantastic experience: I have been taking karate at Satori Academy since they opened in Middletown in September 2022. I absolutely love the class. Sensei Chris is a great instructor, very knowledgeable and overall a wonderful person. The other staff members that I have meet are also very knowledgeable and great instructors. The atmosphere of this place is great, clean and I look forward to the classes. Everyone is willing to help and learn. I highly recommend Satori Academy.

Fantastic experience: Both my 12 year old son and myself started training here recently. Not only does it provide an amazing workout, but it also provides lessons on self defense, health and wellness. The instructors here are top notch and so caring, they really know how to work well with children and adults of all ages! They are so knowledgeable in their skills and know when to push and when to be a support. My 12 year old is on the spectrum, he is often very reserved and can get upset and frustrated easily, especially in new situations, and will shut down. They took the time during class to help him one on one when they saw his frustration in not knowing things and in just the short time he has been training at Satori (just about a month now) he has flourished in confidence there. He is still quiet and reserved but you can see how much he is enjoying it! I truly can't belive what a blessing this has been for him - I wish I had signed him up sooner!! I HIGHLY recommend the Satori Academy to anyone looking for either a great workout, wanting to learn self defense, or for socialization and confidence building for themselves or their children. You will not be disappointed!
