Fantastic experience: Hixon Fitness is hands down one of the best gyms I’ve been to! The facility is always spotless and well-maintained, which makes every workout so much more enjoyable. I also really appreciate the strong sense of security here. And the staff? Absolutely awesome!!! Super friendly, welcoming, and always ready to help. You can tell they truly care about their members. Highly recommend this gym to anyone looking for a clean, safe, and positive fitness environment!

Fantastic experience: i LOVE HIXON! i initially joined hixon because they were a 24/7 gym & since then fell in love with so much about this gym. It is never too full & you always have a machine to use, even if you have to wait its never too long because all the members are there to work not just sit around like at planet or golds. 10 stars forsure!! it’s clean, safe & a perfect environment to get that work in!

Fantastic experience: Best part is NO CROWD'S!!

Negative experience: Came in to cancel my membership a few days after my billing cycle. Because it was not 30 days they are going to charge me for a whole other month Instead of a prorated month. I used to refer a whole bunch of people that were moving to this area To Hixson, but now I will not be doing such. I understand a small business needing 30 days notice but at this point, I am being charged for two whole months when I just want to cancel.

Fantastic experience: I've never been excited about a gym until now. I've tried most of the local gyms and this is by far the least crowded, cleanest and friendliest gym I've been too. I almost hate to say that because I'd love to keep this gym a secret but they deserve 5 stars. Jake, Riley and Dylan have been amazing getting my strength journey kicked off right.

The environment offers the best of both worlds: you can build real connections and be part of a close-knit fitness community if that’s what you’re looking for, or you can enjoy a more private, quiet workout experience thanks to the exclusive setting and 24/7 access. The coaches are approachable and knowledgeable, always willing to support you without being overbearing. Equipment is always in great condition, and the facility is kept spotless. It’s clear that cleanliness and upkeep are a top priority. There are also lots of thoughtful touches that make this place stand out—ample natural light, great music (but not too loud), and enough space to never feel overcrowded. Whether you're just starting out, looking to train seriously, or simply seeking a comfortable and welcoming place to move your body, this gym hits the mark on every level. Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: As a clinical exercise physiologist with nearly 30 years of experience in both hospital and gym settings, (as well as having owned a gym for over 7 years) I have to give a shout out to Jake Hixon and his team at Hixon Fitness. While visiting family, I was able to utilize Hixon Fitness to keep my own fitness up to par and was able to meet Jake and see how he and his team interact and help the community of New Braunfels improve their wellness levels. Folks in New Braunfels are in terrific hands if they choose to allow Hixon Fitness to begin or continue their journey to health and wellness. I would challenge anyone in the NB area to find a better place to get and stay fit. Great job down there, Jake- keep up the great work!

Fantastic experience: My husband and I stopped by HIXON Fitness and Athletics yesterday, and we were immediately blown away by the atmosphere. You can just feel the difference the moment you walk in. It's welcoming, high-energy, and you can tell it's a place where people take pride in their fitness and community. We had the pleasure of meeting Lacey, one of the personal trainers, and she was absolutely wonderful. She took her time walking us through everything, answered all our questions, and made us feel completely at ease. You can tell she's knowledgeable and passionate, which really stood out to us. We're moving into a nearby subdivision and are thrilled to be joining HIXON. My husband served as a SEAL for many years, and because of that, he holds gyms to a high standard, both in terms of the quality of equipment and the strength of the community. HIXON checked both boxes right away. It was clear this is a place where people are serious about their fitness and where the camaraderie really matters. The fact that they offer a military/veteran discount and have such a strong veteran presence just sealed the deal for us. That kind of connection means a lot, and we're really grateful to have found a gym that aligns with our values. The couple membership option is a bonus too, we're excited to train together and be part of something so positive. Can't wait to get started!

Fantastic experience: This is the best gym I’ve been too!! My mom and I train with Abby and she’s the BEST. We may not always be happy to see her but that’s because she pushes us to our full potential when we sometimes don’t want to lol. This gym is the most welcoming gym I’ve been too which makes it easier to go to!

Fantastic experience: Im so happy I finally found a great gym! I started in January 2024 with a goal of losing a few extra pounds. I never worked out or ate healthy a day in my life! 11 months later I'm in the best shape of my life Not only did I get so much amazing information on nutrition and the correct way to workout from my trainer/owner Jake Hixon but most important, I feel comfortable working out now because there’s no judgment here, just good people that are ready to help if needed! This is my forever gym, whats stopping you from making it yours as well?

Negative experience: Came here to leave a review about the lack of equipment the gym had for such a high membership price, but wanted to give it another chance…until I read some of your other reviews and saw how you replied to visitors. You have no tact or professionalism and are just rude. I would never support a business whose owner handles unsatisfactory reviews with such carelessness. Instead of being defensive and responding by trying to insult reviewers, you should actually listen and learn something to try and improve your gym that is seriously lacking-in equipment and leadership.

Fantastic experience: This is an absolutely outstanding gym in every way. There are all age groups and people at different levels of fitness here. I am usually anxious when trying a new gym, but everyone from Jake the owner to all the trainers make you feel welcome. The gym is spotless and the equipment is up to date and never out of order. When my son comes to visit from NYC, where he belongs to some big fancy gym, he always goes here “because, even though it’s smaller, it has everything you would find in a larger gym and the atmosphere is a lot calmer and more welcoming.” Lacey is my trainer and I can’t say enough about how motivational, encouraging and supportive she has been. I am older and have never liked formal exercising or gyms and now I look forward to my training even when it gets more challenging. With my training I was given a body scan, meal plan, exercise plan everything I need to be informed and successful. As a senior I am never intimidated by what I can’t do because Lacey always encourages me where I am and that even the smaller accomplishments are steps in the right direction! So glad I found Hicksons Gym!

Fantastic experience: Hixon Fitness & Athletics is an excellent choice for a gym membership in New Braunfels. Although memberships here tend to be a bit more expensive than at bigger gyms across the city, the saying 'you get what you pay for' definitely applies. The best part about this gym to me is the atmosphere—no 'gym bro' or pretentious vibes like you might find elsewhere. The owner and staff greet me every time I walk in and create a welcoming space for everyone, from newbies to long-time gym enthusiasts. Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: I’ve been at this gym for almost a year. Throughout my life, I’ve been at all the Big Name gyms. If you’re a gym rat, you know gyms are made with *vibes*. What I like about Hixon is that it’s small, but never crowded. The staff is super nice and always waves hi when you come in. The areas are cleaned every day, unlike other kinds of gyms where you find random hairs everywhere. Plus Jake, the owner, is always ready to chat about whatever. It could be about workouts or nutrition. On top of that, there’s a significant amount of regulars, so even if you aren’t a gym conversationalist, most are still willing to at least share a smile. It feels like a community here, as much as a gym can have. Yeah, it’s pricier than a Big Gym, but also, a small price to pay for most machines being available whenever you want!

Fantastic experience: I've been a member since February, I wanted to give it some time to give an honest review, and I can say hands down I made the best choice with Hixon. It can be intimidating joining a gym but the atmosphere is fantastic and all the trainers/coaches are friendly and on their game. No hesitation to answer question(s) and help members with any and all their needs, they go above and beyond and make you feel like family. I truly enjoy going to the gym which is a complete shock to me since I thought differently but that was due to other experience's with big named gym's. They’re open 24/7 which fits my busy life/schedule perfectly and I am able to go 5 days a week. Huge shout out to Tristan, Lacey and Jake! Keep rocking it, your hard work doesn’t go unnoticed.

Fantastic experience: My first experience with Hixon Fitness and have not been disappointed! I train here about 5-6 times a week and find the consistent positive trainers, awesome music and participants who take class create a perfect workout environment. I love that they provide towels for workouts, water and most importantly the same group of quality trainers are there to personally get to know you and push you in the right way. It’s a hard workout with happy people! And I am seeing results for sure. Hands down, best choice I’ve made training at Hixon Fitness. very friendly team who make me actually want to go train. I look forward to walking through the doors and always feel amazing when I leave. Good mix of functional fitness with traditional gym equipment. Unless you’re here in the early morning or the evening, there are never too many people which is nice. There are classes offered in the morning, at noon and in the evening – good, varied range of different options. Easily hands down the best gym in the city.

Fantastic experience: Hixon Fitness & Athletics has truly exceeded my expectations. I’ve been going for about 3 months, and I’ve already seen a lot of progress. It’s very convenient that they’re open 24/7. The gym is clean and very well maintained. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a machine out of order. There is plenty of space for everyone, even during peak hours. My trainer Tristan has been great. He takes the time to understand my goals and creates tailored workout plans that ensure I make progress every step of the way. Also, the gym has a cool 3D body scanner that helps you track your progress. Not only did it give me accurate measurements of my body composition, but it also provided insights into areas I could focus on to improve my overall health and fitness. I have nothing negative to say about Hixon Fitness and I look forward to being a client for many years.

Fantastic experience: Hixson Fitness has been a great gym to continue my fitness goals! Recently completed my 100th workout, and I am very pleased with the gym... The trainers and staff create a friendly environment and other members are always respectful. I love that I rarely need to wait to use equipment, and there are plenty of machines, cardio, and free weight options. I am currently working with Tristan for mytraining program, and am very happy with my progress. The gym is always clean, and 24 hour access is perfect!

Fantastic experience: Entry level to the world of fitness and been here at Hixon for 2 weeks thus far. I quite enjoy the small and quiet atmosphere. Makes the workouts feel very personal and inviting. Staff I have met thus far have been friendly and welcoming. My trainer Triston has also been a great help in my workouts so far as well as providing much welcomed knowledge for a novice like myself.

Fantastic experience: Jake and his team of very welcoming professionals know exactly what they are doing when it comes to creating a productive environment for their clients. 10 minutes with any of the staff has proven to help me more than the past 5 years in any physical therapy clinic. Their attention to detail and absolute commitment to the community and culture is what sets this gym apart from the rest. This is the only gym in town I recommend to my friends, ESPECIALLY military and first responders. I cannot congratulate and celebrate the staff enough for their ability to improve upon other people's lives, inside and outside the gym. Thank you all.

Fantastic experience: Roughly 3 months ago I discovered Hixon Fitness & Athletics and it quickly became my new home! I was a very casual Planet Fitness go-er and knew that I wanted a more focused welcoming environment. That’s exactly what I have found here at Hixon, the trainers are very helpful to new people and extremely friendly. Jake is a stand up owner and always willing to help me out! I highly recommend Hixon to anyone looking for a good gym wether beginner gym-goer or experienced. Hixon is great for everybody!

Negative experience: Super disappointed with this gym. I've been wanting to try this gym out for a while, and finally got the chance to experience it today. Overall the gym isn't that bad, but it's super small and lacks a lot of equipment. What really disappointed me was the atmosphere. The "trainers" that are there barely look like they know anything about fitness (they're not in great shape) and they aren't very friendly. Not once did they come up to me and ask if I needed help, or how my experience was. In fact, I got rudely told to put my shirt back on...which is out of the ordinary, especially for the price you gotta pay to be here. To me, this gym is just another example of what the fitness community is coming to. Definitely wouldn't recommend this gym to anyone that's serious about fitness. Save yourself 75$ a month and get the same quality and experience from Planet Fitness.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been a “gym rat” for about 12 years now, and I can confidently say this has been my favorite gym that I’ve ever had a membership to. It has all the equipment you need, and nothing you don’t. It’s large enough to do your own thing, and small enough for that cool community feeling. It’s never too crowded, never too hot and never too cold. The equipment is also very well taken care of (or brand new). Jake (the owner) is one of the sharpest/nicest dudes I’ve met. In summation: I have nothing negative to say about this gym. All positives. You won’t regret working out here, whether you’re looking to lift heavy weight, or zone out on the treadmill in the corner.

Speaking from a non-local perspective, it is very easy to get access to the gym and in contact with the owner to discuss a plan/pass. No hassle with contracts! Fantastic experience: Being from Georgia and traveling for work, it’s hard to find a gym. Gyms always have contracts and very hard to cancel. Stumbling upon this gem has been so important to my boyfriend and I. The owner has been so accommodating to us and very friendly. The first day we walked in and received a tour, we signed up right away. I’ve accomplished so many of my goals at this gym. The fact that it’s open 24/7 AND you can unlock it with your phone, that’s just what puts the cherry on top. I’m so sad that we are leaving town but these two months were incredible and I will definitely be coming back.

Fantastic experience: I lOVE Hixon Gym! This gym provides me the right equipment to train to stay fit in my Military Army career when I am far away from base! I came down to Texas on leave, and extended on emergency leave unexpectedly. Hixon Gym gave me great flexibility to extend my membership given my uncertain situation at hand. They truly gave me flexible options in last minutes notice! I literally had signed up for a gym membership elsewhere that same day prior, and was willing to ride-out my losses when I found Hixon! The owners and the Hixon Team were very friendly and professional! They greet you by your first name when you show up for your gain. They are amazing! Definitely my go-to place when I’m back in town! I am a big gym goer and did my research of all the gyms in the area and this place was the right fit for me! By far a great experience! Fantastic experience: LOVE THIS GYM! I recently became a member here about two months ago, coming over from Das Rec and I am so happy I switched gyms! This is such a comfortable gym. I know a huge plus for me is there isn't children or teenagers hanging around the equipment. Everyone is very respectful of one another's space, and even helpful. The owner has done a great job providing a clean, up to date, motivating atmosphere.

Fantastic experience: Prior to joining Hixon Fitness, I would never had said that I was one of those people who are "gym people". I didn't like to workout or even be active. Since joining, I have lost weight and I feel healthier. Energy though I am in no way at the level of a true athlete, my small milestones are celebrated and I feel encouraged. The staff and other members are kind and helpful. So... I guess I am a gym person now and I couldn't be more happy.

Fantastic experience: I can not recommend this gym enough! I absolutely love the atmosphere that it has created. I have had an awesome experience with working with both Jake and Frank and they are both amazing. Both have helped me tremendously with my health journey. Both are very knowledgeable and have great credentials. I also work with Nick who is the registered dietitian there. He listens to all my concerns and really takes the time to help me figure out what foods will work best for me. He has given me amazing meal plans and has helped me with my relationship with food. When you come you not only get a gym, you get an amazing community. 23 pounds down and it’s just the beginning.
