Negative experience: I have had my cat Gracie in to West Towne Vet for nail trims.as needed. On 11/15/24, I received a dunning email for $34.20 for two undated nail trims. However, I always paid for nail trims at the counter on my way out the door with Gracie. I do not skip out on bills EVER. After more emails I finally received the dates - 4/5/24 and 10/26/23. The 10/26/23 visit was paid for, as evidenced by my credit card statement. The 4/5/ 24 visit does not exist. I had Gracie’s nails trimmed by Dr. Jim Stevenson, my regular vet, on 4/22/24. I provided an invoice from Oregon Vet for that date. Throughout the whole email string, Eli was insulting. He told me to approach “situations like this with a bit more humility .” Yesterday I received yet another email from Morgan dunning me for $17.10 for a 4/5/24 visit. Someone inside West Towne Vet is playing games with your accounts. See the whole email string beginning with 11/15/24. If you do not have it, I will be glad to provide a copy.

Negative experience: Tried to charge us $1300 to neuter our 25lb dog then the vet tech literally laughed at me when I said that was an absurd price. We found a new vet much nicer, only cost $350 total for the procedure, find someone else they don't care about you or your pet just the money. Invoice posted, blood work was separate $150 I don't have a photo of that one

Fantastic experience: I have kenneled our cat on several occasions and he has been taken care of very well. He loves it there! When we ask him if he wants to go to the “condo”, he knows and perks up!!!❤️❤️❤️‍⬛❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Fantastic experience: Received excellent care for my dog from all staff members. I was well educated on my dog’s health and choices to make. After making decisions everyone there partaken in my dog’s plan of care. I received reminders when my dog needed any health maintenance and quotes on cost of any care that was provided. There are no issues to getting referrals to UW specialty veterinary services. This facility also has grooming and boarding services as well that I have utilized with no issues.

Fantastic experience: I took my dog here for grooming and had a great experience. It was $55 for a bath and brush (shiba inu) which is very reasonable. The groomer was able to get a ton of fur off my dog. Most importantly, my dog did not seem stressed when I picked her up and was very happy when we got home. She even got a cute feather collar clip! We will be back!

Fantastic experience: I have been taking my two Pomeranian's to West Towne for grooming for over 4 years. I am very happy with the service I receive. The girls always look great and I am confident that they are treated great.

Fantastic experience: By far the best vet I've ever been to. The front desk staff is always warm and welcoming, and very helpful when you call with questions. The vet and vet techs do everything they can to make sure my cats feel safe, comfortable, and well taken care of. They are thoughtful and intentional in everything they do. I always feel safe leaving my pets care in their hands. Plus the cat gym is AWESOME!

Fantastic experience: Our cat had a tumor and so needed to be treated with radiation therapy. He then got sick and had to have further treatment. We could not have asked for more excellent care. All the staff we worked with have been very friendly and professional. They clearly work as a team and we know that our cat is receiving the best care possible

Positive experience: They do a great job grooming my very anxious little dog. She does not tremble and shake at the handoff, like she did with previous groomer. So grateful for West Towne Vet Center groomers. A friend recommended them to me and I recommend them to you.

Fantastic experience: Our Schnauzer Duke kept licking his front paw for few months. Brought him in and he had developed cellulitis and was in a lot of discomfort . Doc Tina took good care of him treated him and sent him home with antibiotics. She mentioned what. a sweet boy he was. staff is always kind and thoughtful and our Dogs feel comfortable.

Fantastic experience: Recently I took my two dogs into West Towne Veterinary Clinic for grooming. I had been going to a solo in home groomer for over 25 years who retired during the pandemic. I was very pleased with the whole process, from in-take to finish. Raine took time to understand the needs and differences of both dogs. When I picked them up they looked and smelled like the little dream boats they are! The pickup and drop off was easy and they got loving care. I felt confident about leaving them at the clinic and plan to be a repeat customer. Oh yes, and the price was very reasonable for how thorough it was, given my dogs are shelties.

Fantastic experience: I have always had good experiences here! They love and treat my cat a if it was their own pet. They care how my cat is doing and make follow up calls to check on him. I don't trust anyone else to take care of my fur baby!

Fantastic experience: I’m so glad I found WTVC. My cat is an older cat who needed extensive dental care. I’m really glad that this was identified at WTVC, and taken care of quickly. I really appreciated that Dr. Ken and the staff came out to the car to talk to me in person to explain everything, even though it was so cold out!!

Fantastic experience: They saved my cats life. I took her in because I thought she was dying as she is an older cat and was showing all the signs but Dr. Ken thought maybe it was something else and gave her a simple test and as it turns out she’s going to live and be OK. Unbelievable and I still can’t get over it.

I appreciate that they consider the emotional stress animals experience when going in for care, and they take steps to alleviate that stress as much as possible. They are also informative, giving us all the details of what they learn during exams, then offering options and getting our consent for care before moving forward. Everyone is friendly and professional, and the prices are reasonable. Great place for veterinary care!

Fantastic experience: Our dog is almost 15 years old and has been going to this location for grooming for as long as she has been alive. They remember her every time and are so incredibly gentle with her. They do an amazing job!!

Fantastic experience: I have been going to the various clinics that Dr. Ken Lambrecht has worked in for the past 30+ years. I trust him and his staff explicitly with the care of my cats. They are kind, conscientious, responsive and caring. All my questions are answered and all of my cats over the years have thrived. They are excellent with kittens, patient with senior cats, and tender when a cat has to be put down. I highly recommend West Towne Veterinary Center!

Fantastic experience: If you are looking for a truly exceptional Veterinarian Center to take your pet to, this is no doubt the place to go. My cat Zeus has been here on multiple occasions and the staff went above and beyond for not only my cat, but for me as well. My cat stayed there for over a week last August while I was moving and they took great care of him. He also had two unfortunate incidents recently where they took nothing but amazing care of him. Dr. Ken and the manager Cheyene have never been anything but kind, caring and sensitive with any difficult situation. They truly care about you and your pet/pets. I have been to a few different clinics in Madison over the last 4 years of having him, but after coming here they will be the only vet to care for him for the rest of his feline life :)

Fantastic experience: Words cannot describe how much I depend on my little toy poodle as my Service Animal. He is literally a lifesaver. The past 6 months have been a nightmare of him inexplicably and suddenly yelping in pain with no indication of what's causing it. It rips my heart out of my chest every time I know he's hurting and I can't figure out how to fix it! Add to that the thousands I've spent at veterinarians trying to diagnose and treat the issue. UNTIL I got referred to West Towne. They had a handle on the problem almost immediately. They didn't waste my time or money with a "wait and see" attitude. They actually took him in the NEXT DAY, put him under and found a severely decayed spot where he'd previously had some teeth removed. It was almost like he had a pea-sized bit of sharp gravel stuck in his mouth that was infected! No wonder he was sick! They excised the bit of matter and he's already his playful self again! They weren't the least expensive vet I ever went to, but THEY GOT IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME! I'd recommend them for anything, but their specialty in dental care is superlative. SIX STARS for West Towne Veterinary Center!

Fantastic experience: Amazing vet. They are very helpful when our pet is sick, but more importantly they focus on the preventitive measures such as weight loss and dental cleaning. Very educational and always have the pet's best interest in mind!

Fantastic experience: This was an exceptional experience. I boarded my cat, Theo, here for the weekend when I went out of state to Florida. The staff was incredibly helpful and kind when I dropped him off. I was worried since this was my first time boarding him and they assured me he would be taken care of and even let me see the room he would be in. This was excellent and I will certainly use this service if I go out of town again.

Fantastic experience: My pup and I LOVE coming here. The staff are so kind and my dog gets so much love and care from them. Such a friendly place for her to explore and roam. Dr. Kelly was absolutely amazing and we’ve had small appointments with the other vets as well and they are just as great. You can tell Dr. Ken cares about all the animals that come through.

Negative experience: My husband stopped in to see if this might be a place we could board our cats when we are on vacation. They refused to show him where our cats would be staying. No way we would board our cats there.

Fantastic experience: I have been a client at West Town Vet Clinic for several years. I have always been pleased with the care they have given to my cat. My questions /concerns are always thoroughly addressed! I highly recommend Dr. Ken and his entire staff!

Fantastic experience: I have been taking my fur babies to Dr. Ken Lambrecht for 14 years. I always appreciate the kind care they provide. My pets receive regular dental cleanings at the clinic, and I'm always amazed at the before and after pictures as to how well their teeth are clean and white. I highly recommend them.

Fantastic experience: I was visiting Madison when my senior dog devolved a hot spot and a GI problem. I called West Town Veterinary Center and they got me that day. Dr. Callahan was very thorough in her evaluation and treatment of my dog's problems and was very caring and understanding of my concerns. If I lived in Madison I would become a client!

Positive experience: Great staff but very expensive.

Fantastic experience: Great veterinary care! They were accommodating and kind. They took great care of my dog when she needed an emergency dental procedure and had the tools required (e.g. dental radiography) to be sure that they were able to assess her teeth properly and remove all the roots of the teeth that needed to come out. Would definitely recommend!

Fantastic experience: This is the best grooming salon around! I have brought my dog twice now for a bath and nail trim and will continue to bring her. My dog has allergies and since bringing her in for baths her itching has decreased significantly!! Karen is excellent with my dog and I am very happy to have found her.

Fantastic experience: Our dogs have been in the care of West Towne Veterinary Clinic for many years now, and we have always appreciated the professionalism and care we have received from every Vet there. A special thanks to Dr. Ken for his dental expertise; all 4 of our dogs have beautiful, healthy smiles now. We also so appreciate the friendly, helpful reception staff and veterinary technicians. Thank you to everyone for all that you do to maintain the health and well being of our beloved four legged family members.

Fantastic experience: The people here are great! The set up they have is very welcoming to people and their pets. It is in a large house with a comfortable waiting area and exam rooms. Just the best!

Negative experience: I took my normally healthy 3 year old cocker spaniel here because she had some usual skin lesions developing and I was worried about her. $250 later, they told me that it was a bacterial infection after performing unnecessary and expensive skin scrapings/lab tests without sharing any information on cost. The anti-biotics and shampoo they prescribed worked at first - but they were only treating the single symptom and not the cause. After the expensive trip, I asked for an extension on the prescription for another week because the bacterial infection did not seem to be cleared up. They refused to do so without seeing her again (and charging me another $50+ for the visit, and $30 for the antibiotics). I refused as it was already quite expensive and hoped it would get better. It seemed like it was better for a bit, but it all came right back.. because SURPRISE the bacterial infection was a secondary infection caused by another issue (which any vet should have known). I took her to another vet who told us that she had allergies which was what caused her reactions. She was also later diagnosed with mange (as relates to her allergies). The antibiotics and shampoos I got from my other vet were priced significantly lower as well. Do not go here unless you think spending more money makes you feel like you're getting better care (FYI - you're not).

Fantastic experience: The staff at WTVC has consistently provided excellent care for my pets for over 10 years! Dr. Lambrecht and his staff have many years of experience and are always seeking the most current and well researched treatments to enhance the lives of your pets

Fantastic experience: I have been a client for over 25 years. I would not take my cats anywhere else. All the doctors are great. I would highly recommend. The entire staff makes me feel very welcome from the time I walk through the door and I completely trust them with my pets.

Fantastic experience: I've taking my two cats here for about a year, as I had met Dr. Ken at a few cat adoption events around town. To echo the comments of another reviewer on Google, they really treat the animals they are for like they were their own pets. They are full service and offer grooming and boarding as well, and I really feel comfortable with the staff. I've worked with other vets who were very 'we are the professionals here so shut up and just pay the bills' and that isn't the case here. That said, they are defiantly the type of folks who would do whatever they could. I've had a few conversations about costs of procedures and haven't had any surprises. Additionally they do a ton for the community and do a yearly pet weight loss event as well as working with local rescues, which is probably my favorite thing about the practice. They have a strong focus on pet nutrition, so the first time you go in you'll probably get some recommendations on how you kitty need a diet (not that it's a bad thing, food cost is basically the same)

Fantastic experience: Took my newly adopted senior cat to Dr Britta Oakes. She was very informative and patient with a first time pet owner. Took the time to explain things to me and come up with a treatment plan that didn't overwhelm me. Veterinary care can be expensive, but they are very up front about the costs and you know what you are getting.

Negative experience: DO NOT GO HERE UNLESS YOU WANT TO MORTGAGE YOUR HOME FOR PET CARE AND PUT UNDUE STRESS ON YOUR PET. RIDICULOUSLY OVERPRICED AND OFTEN RECOMMEND UNNECESSARY PROCEDURES. Story time! We brought our newly adopted, senior cat in to seek help with inappropriate urination and howling at night. We were already aware of a cyst above his shoulder and a chipped tooth, but the humane society had looked at these issues before adoption and determined that the cyst was benign and the chipped tooth was an old injury that was not causing pain or worsening. The vets at West Towne convinced us that we should get a root canal on his chipped tooth in case it actually was causing him pain, and to remove the cyst in case it actually was malignant but the humane society missed it. After the cyst was removed and retested, it was found to be benign as we were originally told by the humane society. His behavior did not change following the procedures - he's just a loud cat who isn't allowed in our bedroom anymore. WE PAID OVER $2000 FOR THESE PROCEDURES, WHICH WERE UNNECESSARY AND CAUSED UNDUE STRESS ON OUR OLD CAT. We then failed to learn our lesson and brought our other senior cat in to have her mouth looked at, and were told that she needed a canine tooth and two pre-molars extracted. For this procedure, we were quoted $2000-$3000, plus the cost of the pre-surgical visit and lab work (later lowered to $1400-$2000 after questioning). We thought this was outrageous and sought 2nd, 3rd, and 4th opinions from other area vets, who all agreed this was outrageous and quoted us $300-$500, and all agreed that only one tooth needed to be extracted. We were also told we needed to buy a prescription weight loss food for our old lady - she only weighs 10 pounds. I went back to discus this with the owner, Dr. Lambrecht, who defended his office's prices, citing "quality of care, advanced tools and training, and the preventative nature of the surgeries." We ultimately ended up paying MORE for pre-surgical work and lab tests at West Towne than we did for the actual procedure at a different vet. INSANELY EXPENSIVE AND PROBABLY UNETHICAL! This office charges 4-5x the going rate of other area vets and suggests unnecessary procedures for your pets under the guise of "preventative care." DO NOT GO HERE.

Fantastic experience: This is the first vet around Middleton/Madison's West side I have gone to that truly cares for their patients and understands the bond between pets and their people. Something that makes WTVC truly unique is the fact that they don't push unnecessary expensive procedures or products. They will openly discuss options, costs, benefits and the like, without judging choices and situations. WTVC also organizes pet wellness events, like "Cats Night Out" and "Pets Reducing for Rescues", that benefit all involved and create a wonderful sense of community! Aside from being great at what they do, all members of the WTVC family are genuinely friendly and a joy to be around. My two young cats love checking in with everyone before their appointments and usually leave on good terms with staff members. All in all, if you want a vet that you can trust 100% with you furry friend, West Towne Veterinary Center is the place for you!
