UA Campus Health Service: Reviews
Fantastic experience: Took my younger cousin Jaxon to UA Campus Health and had an awesome experience. Robin Lauren Kelly was super helpful, and Brandi went above and beyond to make Jaxon feel comfortable. Everyone was kind and professional. They all deserve raises. Highly recommend!
We’re thrilled to hear you had a great visit, Andre! Thank you so much for leaving a review and sharing your experience.
Negative experience: Visited the cat clinic and surprisingly found the FNP, Kelly Marechal, to be very dismissive. Said "I doubt the specialist will find any problem because you are completely fine" after palpation, which was the only test she performed.
Momo, we're sorry to hear you didn't have a better experience here. We would like to hear more about your experience so we can better address this. When you have a moment, please give our Executive Director, David Salafsky a call at 520-621-8297 or email him at [email protected]. Thank you.
Negative experience: They don’t accept TRICARE? What a disservice to the men and women who sacrifice daily to ensure their freedom. Also, treatment for nausea, diarrhea, and dehydration they told my son to take antacid? Flat out refused to give him an IV or anything that would make him feel better. UNSAT. U of A you can do better. ———————Update———————— I contacted TRICARE to validate your response. You may contract with them and select NOT to be included in the directory and mark that you are NOT accepting new patients. There is NO requirement to provide services to all beneficiaries and you may limit such to students only, as it should be. Email sent w/specifics. Thanks for your time and consideration. ———- For everyone’s awareness, I attempted to contact the Executive Director, Mr. David Salafsky, but he declined to respond.
                            Bob,
We're sorry to hear your son isn't feeling well and would like to hear more so we can better address your comments. When you have a moment, please contact our Executive Director, David Salafsky at 520-621-8297 or [email protected].
When we last explored this with Tri-Care, we were not able to contract with them without also opening our services to all plan beneficiaries, including those who are non-UA affiliates (students or employees). Doing so would affect our ability to provide timely appointments for students, our top priority. As a result, we were unable to contract with Tri-Care, unfortunately.
Fantastic experience: A really convenient place for students, they have all sorts of doctors right in one place
Thanks for the 5-star review Oliver!
Fantastic experience: It is convenient to have everything in one place. Pharmacy, x-ray, GP, sports medicine, etc. They have always been helpful and courteous. If you are on campus and need help, this is a great place to go without traveling.
Bryan, thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We appreciate you taking the time to review us!
Negative experience: Seems like they chose the bottom of the barrel for front desk and scheduling staff. Always errors and problems that result in either rescheduling, extra costs, pointless visits and so on. Often the physicians and PTs agree. More than once I've arrived on time and the main entrance is locked. My PT has had to come through the side or back entrance to grab me and everytime this results in a problem in billing. If you call to schedule an appointment expect to be forwarded to a random phone number. This has happened enough times where it's pointless to call. Just go somewhere else or schedule in person. Do not expect good service.
Positive experience: The after-hour numbers are completely useless. I called twice in different semesters, but in the end I had to call again during work hours and bear with the symptoms in the meantime. Apart from that everything is fine.
Limeng, we're very sorry to hear about your experiences with our after-hours number. We would like to hear more about your experience so we can look into this. Please give our Executive Director, David Salafsky a call at 520-621-8297 or email him at [email protected]. Thank you.
Positive experience: I have been sick since last Wednesday 11/02, decided on Friday to give campus health a chance thinking it might be more convenient and efficient than trying my PCP, I was completely wrong. I called Friday morning and they said that a Nurse will give me a call for a phone consult, is Monday 11/07 and I'm still waiting!
Martha, we're very sorry to hear you didn't have a better experience here and are still waiting for a phone consult. We would like to hear more about your experience so we can better address this. When you have a moment, please give our Executive Director, David Salafsky a call at 520-621-8297 or email him at [email protected]. Thank you.
Negative experience: Ridiculous charge and refuse to check out with credit card
Thank you for your feedback. We strive to keep costs lower for students by offering a student discounted rate and multiple payment options (including credit card as an option). We would like to hear more about your experience. Would you be willing to call us at 520-621-6489 or fill out our contact form (https://health.arizona.edu/contact) so we can follow up with you directly?
Fantastic experience: Love this place.
Fantastic experience: Fantastic gym. Had a blast in Tuscon for business. 5 day pass is just what you’ll need.
Fantastic experience: I have been utilizing campus health for the past 2 years (since signing up for student health insurance) and I wish I would have started using them sooner! It is so fast and easy to book appointments. Everything is so close and contained, it makes it easy to see a practitioner, get labs, and pick up from the pharmacy all in one shot. Healthcare here is high quality and affordable. This is an incredible asset as a student.
Thank you so much for your review Jil! We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience with us.
Fantastic experience: Probably the best integrated health system I've used as a student or an employee out in the 'real world' (and I used to see doctors at Johns Hopkins!). Appointments are easy to get, sometimes even same-day, while other places make you wait weeks. Sending messages to doctors gets replies from the doctors themselves, rather than their medical assistants or other people you weren't trying to reach. When I started as a graduate student, I remember watching a presentation on how great the campus health service was and thinking it was a load of hot air, but experience has proved them right over the last five years. If there's a criticism I have, it's that once you go outside of Campus Health for a specialist referral, they vary wildly in quality... and while the referrals office is a great help with the mechanics of scheduling an outside appointment, it's impossible to know what quality of service you're going to get outside. (As usual, people with complaints are way more likely to write a review for healthcare, so take that into account reading the rest of them. The fact anyone bothered to voluntarily write a *good* review for a healthcare provider should tell you a lot!)
Thank you for the 5-star review and taking the time to give your feedback, Joseph! We appreciate it!
Fantastic experience: As I wait for an appointment with my new PCP, I decided to indulge in a little bit of preventive care through my campus services. Yes, boys and girls, we 50+ (nearing 60) need to get our Shingrix series on board. And that's just what I did. All tucked in and ready to scoff at Zoster should I encounter it. Grateful for the wonderful souls that serve our students and faculty here - these kind, compassionate, and really genuinely good folks are appreciated!
Thank you for the 5-star review, Robin!
Fantastic experience: Best place for the yearly physical (preventive care).
Thank you for the review and choosing Campus Health!
Negative experience: I was in mid-crsis and experiencing physical symptoms. Called in and asked for "over-the-counter" advice. They turned me down. Completley disregarding that a student, this campus "supports so dearly", was in obvious crisis because I did not have my student ID number on hand. Absolutely lost all respect for when this campus talks about mental health. Clearly, they just enjoy the profit and their image.
Hi Ashleigh, I'm very sorry to hear you didn't have a better experience here. If you wouldn't mind, please give me a call when you have a chance as I would like to learn more to better address this. Thanks and take care, David Salafsky 520-621-8297
Fantastic experience: Clean and cozy. Nice staff too :)
Thank you for your review, Siti Juwariyah. We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience with us!
Fantastic experience: top-notch service. no complaints here. efficient, professional and compassionate service
Much appreciated - thank you for taking the time to offer this great feedback!
Fantastic experience: Good
Fantastic experience: Always helpful
Positive experience: Had to wait an hour and a half for the Walk-In clinic on a Wednesday afternoon after my girlfriend got in a car accident and had whiplash and possible concussion. Our entire days were shot. Most urgent care facilities can see patients in 15 minutes or less. We will go to an urgent care facility next time. Parking is also inconvenient.
Austin, thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We would like to learn more about this experience so we can better improve our service. Please email [email protected] with your contact information so we may follow up with you.
Fantastic experience: Severe foot pain. Scheduled online. Saw Dr., sent to Xray. Stress fracture diagnosed. Received boot & crutches. Treated quickly in 1 visit, all under one roof! Amazing. :) Campus Health is friendly, convenient, and efficient.
Negative experience: NEVER go to campus health for anything!!!!! Specially if you are from a different country. They waste your time and money!! Nurses are very unfriendly and insensitive!! They said my tb skin test was positive because how it looked and they needed a freaking ruler to measure and 2 persons have to confirm it. I have never seen this in my entire life that was done before!! So, what this is telling me is that all the nurses/providers or who had done this on me before these campus health nurses are incompetent and not doing it correctly??? Please!!!!
Hi Anita, here at Campus Health we pride ourselves on providing quality care to all students. Our clinical practice follows the highest standards of care. If you'd like to speak with our Executive Director about your concerns, please call (520) 621-7428 and he would welcome your feedback.
Negative experience: Customer services was not at its best when I called for questions regarding appointment. No courtesy parking is available for patients going to appointment. Parking at the garage was about $5. Service provider was great, experienced and welcoming. Just wished all campus health staff were that welcoming and polite.
Hi Kendra, thank you for your feedback. Glad to hear you had a great experience with the provider you saw here at Campus Health. We would look forward to improving on the other customer service interaction you had if you'd like to provide more info here: https://health.arizona.edu/contact. Campus parking is outside of our purview but we do our best to keep wait times to a minimum so students can be seen as soon as possible.
Positive experience: For a university health center, this place is very good. There are actual doctors working here, and there's a pharmacy and even counseling/mental health services and a women's health center. Some universities are not nearly this well equipped when it comes to their health centers, so UA students are lucky to have this right on campus. My only issue is that they are not open on weekends, which on a couple of occasions has been very inconvenient.
Positive experience: Good place to get sick. Lots of sick students in the waiting areas with cold / flu, etc... Staff are also used to primarily treating 18-22 year olds, so if you're an older student or staff member they may not treat your condition appropriately, and their questions reflect this.
Hi Joshua, thanks for the feedback. We pride ourselves on delivering quality care to all students as well as staff for select services. Let us know if you have suggestions on what would have made your visit better here: https://health.arizona.edu/contact.
Fantastic experience: Immunization clinic is quick and efficient
Negative experience: I don't understand why you have to make an appointment with a triage person before seeing the physician. So much for patient doctor relationship. I hate that I can't see doctor the same way I can back home.
We’re sorry to hear your frustration with having to see our triage staff before seeing one of our doctors. Campus Health's Walk-In Clinic is set up to allow for same day appointments, which is dependent on the work of triage nurses to make the best use of our staffing and ensure the best care for all of our students/patients. You can, however, schedule appointments with a provider (physician or nurse practitioner) over the phone or online, which may be more similar to what you experienced back home. Hope this helps and please feel free to give us a call at (520) 621-6489 if you would like to discuss this further.
Fantastic experience: Never had any issue with them.
Negative experience: Long waits, have been sold medicine whose warnings I later read advised against the exact way I was instructed to use it.
Fantastic experience: Very kind, caring, and considerate. The prices for students are much lower than what my insurance can offer to be seen elsewhere.
Fantastic experience: Though I initially had reservations about starting services here, the staff and services provided here have been a wonderful and invaluable addition to my life as a student. I highly recommend pursuing this option to any student of the University of Arizona.
Positive experience: Long wait but great service
Positive experience: Make sure your on time otherwise you will have to wait like an hours to get in
