Erlanger Western Carolina- Emergency Room: Reviews
Fantastic experience: Former Military Medic, here. I am soooooo impressed with this 2.8 star rated ER that I had to say so. Other than the wait that is EVERY hospital now-the care I received was outstanding... And exceptional. Although it was mid morning and there were not many people in the waiting area I asked how long the wait would be and they said that it would still be a while because they were severely understaffed. I appreciate the honest response - I was in pain and the staff laying out expectations is so important. Folks, this is what it is now unfortunately. Make the best of it, and. recognize that it is not the staff's fault but more than likely those are higher up in the command center of a hospital and/or they're just not getting enough qualified help interviewing. This can create a high burnout when you've got all of this stress because you don't have enough staff. This was my second time here - first time I brought my patient and he was treated just as well. Anyway I wanted to compliment the PA that I saw and the male RN also but pain brain made me forget their names. They were both military. Both gave me exceptional care and took time to listen and hear what I needed and got the job done. I was there for a while but when I left I felt better. Isn't that part of what the goal is? Can't thank everyone enough as I've spent a some time in emergency rooms over the years as a patient and I'm always happy to let people know when there's a good one. Treat them with respect and they will do the same.
Positive experience: I have probably visited this ER five times during my years in Murphy. I have always received good care. Sometimes it is a little slower than others, but that depends on the volume and severity of patients. I think they do a good job.
Negative experience: Where should I begin.... the worst care ever. After I got a room. I waited over 3 hours to get help for pain. Non stop vomiting. It wasn't packed only 4 people including me. I asked for a blanket, never got one, asked for ice they never came. They are mostly talking with each other then doing actual work. I would recommend going to blairsville since they are on top of there game. I told them I can't take morphine because it makes me vomit.... what do you think they gave me?!? Yep.... morphine, I was throwing up uncontrollably. The dr are so so so stupid. The dr. Asked in one finger where the pain is.... I'm like it's my upper stomach. He was mad because he wanted one finger where it hurts. I'm looking at him as if he were dumb AF!! He finally pushed and I said see all my stomach area not one finger point. What about one dumb Dr..... I could keep going. They didn't help me at all. I was still vomiting the next day. I was there from 2pm till after 10pm just to get fluids practically. What a joke of a hospital. Ohh and when my uncle had surgery he almost died because they gave him way way to much blood thinner and almost died.... yep the hospital you walk in you are sick and when you leave your in a casket!!! DONT EVER GO TO MURPHY!!! COMPLETE & TOTAL WASTE OF A HOSPITAL. My mother was a Dr. And when I was a kid she said it was the worst hospital she has ever been too. The Other Dr's baffle me to how they passed there MD degree!!
Negative experience: You’d have better luck with leeches then going to this place.
Fantastic experience: I was seen at Erlanger ER this afternoon, after my dad drove the night before to rescue me from Hendersonville,NC. The resources in my town were frantic and limited due the destruction. THIS emergency room experience was top notch. Although they do not provide L&D services (I'm 32 wks pregnant) they took the absolute best care of me from the moment I walked in the door. Thank you to everyone at Erlanger ER, you are appreciated.
Negative experience: Had to take my husband to the Erlanger urgent care, where we were told he needed to go to the emergency room for an ultrasound. We checked into the ER at 10:30 AM he was finally taken back for the ultrasound at 2:30 PM. Mind you the urgent care called ahead and was told the ER wasn’t busy prior to our going there. There was one other in the ER waiting room when we got there. My husband was ready to walk out by hour #3. The lady we shared the room with had gotten there at 9:30 AM and she did walk out. There were plenty of staff, they were all standing at the nurses station talking and laughing. It took me asking when he was getting his ultrasound for staff to finally hop to and the ultrasound tech showed up within 5 min. I don’t know who is responsible for running this place but it needs some serious overhauling and oversight. Needless to say I will never get my husband back in that ER. It’s a one and done for this hospital.
Negative experience: Mom came in due to an infected surgical incision that had her hand all swollen. Triage nurse was horrid. Looks like she hates her job and incredibly rude. Front desk was less than savory as well. There is apparently a rule against young children coming in the back, but it is not enforced across the board. Front desk said children must be 14 to go back l. Wouldn't let my almost 4 year old back but out comes a family of 3 with an approximately 7 year old child who was not the patient. If you're not going to let a worried little boy go check on his nana you don't let a 7 year old back with his family either.
Fantastic experience: Was a little slow but Ms. Amy my nurse made up for it in so many ways. Super attentive, helped me get everything I needed. What a sweetheart!! Best nurse I have had in an ER!!
Fantastic experience: I went, thinking I was having a gallbladder attack because I had been in pain for over 12 hours in my upper epigastric area. The minute I pulled into the ER. I felt like something released and then I felt like everything in my system started moving. I honestly felt so incredibly stupid going to the ER at that point, but my pain that I had before was not false. I decided to go anyways because I was already there and I explained everything, even the fact that I felt stupid for being there. They kept reassuring me that it is better to know than to not and did the testing that was needed without gouging me and doing unnecessary tests. Once they realized how I was feeling and got left work back to confirm whether further testing was needed or not. I truly appreciate them. Listening, being understanding, not making me feel stupid, and not over testing me causing a huge ER bill! As it is with everywhere you go, it always depends on what provider you saw are what nurses you had. Certainly, everyone should choose to try their best to reach patient satisfaction as a whole for the facility... But as we all know, that doesn't always happen. I wouldn't necessarily listen to all of the negative reviews about Erlanger because they actually have some great staff... You just have to be willing to be open and not so critical. We all have good days and bad days! I'm thankful for my visit to Erlanger and for the people who cared for me! Keep doing what you're doing, staff! I hope you strive for excellence and keep getting encouragement along the way!
Negative experience: I would give a 0 if I could. This place is a joke. I got Johnson, Jeremy M PA. I went in because I had severe pain in my shoulder and arm. I have heart issues. My blood pressure was off the charts and my heart was in tachycardia. No ekg or heart tests were done. And I am a cancer patient and was put in with the COVID patients. He said I didn't need an x-ray of my shoulder . That it would show nothing. Nothing was done for me. And every time the COVID patients would cough I would get scared of catching it. So I left. The hospital staff are such liars. All I said is I am leaving. They said I was argumentative and irritable. Total lie. They never talked to me. I reported them to Erlanger. They also lied on me and said I was going out to smoke. I told Erlanger you got cameras. Check them I never went out to smoke or never said anything except that I was leaving. Then after I reported them to Erlanger. They said I called back and said I left because I wanted pain medications. Not to smoke. Total lie. Check phone records. I never called these liars back. And my MD can vouch I have chronic health issues and don't want to take pain medications. But for the record I have pain medication because my Dr. said I should take it if my pain became unbearable. So why would I ask for what I have? If I wanted to take pain medication. I had no need to go to the hospital. I went to find out why I was so sick. Had to wait on that one. Because these people are quacks. And I have never failed a drug test in my life.My MD ordered the shoulder x-ray and found out I have a chronic rotator cuff . I also have a blockage on the right side of my heart. Real bright one here at the hospital. Both my Md and Oncologist called because they couldn't believe he didn't do the tests. Now they know I told the truth. .You will die if you go here. The one I got should quit now. With people like him working there . I wouldn't take my dog there .You can drive to Sylvia and be in and out in the time you spend waiting and nothing done for you. And the one who checks you in is a liar too. She is the one I told I was leaving. I got enough health issues without catching Covid to boot. They also charged my insurance false charges which I reported also. They either need to get some real Drs. or shut this place down. Also they told my spouse was abusing me. Hello Idiots I am single. Why didn't you check me for bruises. And I have no spouse which shows what liars these people are. Like a bad joke. And check your insurance and bills . They charge for things they didn't do. No need to report to Erlanger they are not going to go through the cameras or investigate. Maybe they will wish they had when this place gets sued and shut down. Beware of MATTHEW PEGHER and KATHRYN RITTORNO. They were all in on lying. I saw one idiot who done nothing to find out what was wrong with me. But all pretended to see me to charge my insurance. And if I say I am leaving, is cursing these people need to go back to school. May God help these people. When they lie on people. They need God and new jobs.
Fantastic experience: My wife has went to the Er with both of our girls within this last week and our girls has had very good care I think this is a big change compared to what it used to be thank you erlanger-western-carolina-hospital /er department for caring
Fantastic experience: Went to ER with my wife. Bery professional and caring. Awesome care for a change. They've really turned it around.
Negative experience: I don’t believe this place even deserves a star, but I have to. I went at night with no one else there except myself in the ER. I was having chest pains and trouble breathing, and a few other symptoms. I previously took a covid test upon coming in that was negative, hoping they could at least test for anything else or look at my lungs. My bp got to almost 160/100 but was told it was good. For one, I’m an LPN, but I can’t self diagnose without the same tests and scans, as I also know my bp is always normal, never going above 128/72. I was sent home not even 40 minutes after coming in, with a single prescription of something I told them I already had and didn’t need. The Dr told me they were unable to do any kind of test or run any labs because they were unnecessary. Not even a blood draw or a urine sample, my history wasn’t asked nor was my medical history to know if there were any related causes. An hour later, after I was home and resting I became more sick and rushed to a different hospital not affiliated with Erlanger. Instant labs and scans were done that revealed I had a decent amount of fluid around my lung that required surgery and tubes to drain it all. Next time instead of waisting my own time at Murphy Erlanger, where I wasn’t heard or properly cared for, I will go to this hospital and be heard as soon as I walk in the door.
Fantastic experience: Amazing staff! So grateful for their attention to detail and care.
Fantastic experience: Fast very friendly
Negative experience: I hurt my foot so bad I could not walk on it . Dr ordered x-rays said that there is no injury and told me follow up with someone since I don't have a primary ( with i told him 2 times i do ) sent me home no crutches no foot wrapped . I could not walk. Period. . I was sent out in a wheelchair and no help to the car . What kind of a place is this??
Negative experience: My pregnant fiancé had two seizures, one of them in the ER, the receptionist seemed to care but everyone else there was just kinda standing around before telling me I should drive her to Blairsville.
Fantastic experience: Thank you to this amazing staff. My mom had an urgent situation that had to be dealt with and the entire staff was very responsive and helpful. They kept us up to date on all the tests being done, and results were communicated promptly. This is a very small hospital with limited services, which we totally understand, but the staff all has big hearts. I am thankful for all they did to help my mom.
Negative experience: This hospital is awful I wish I could give it a zero. The staff treated me like a human plague when I came there puking up blood. Then they made sure to tell me to leave and got extra staff to let me know I wasn't welcome and my ride needed to hurry up. Awful place. They act like they want you dead because you're such an inconvenience.
Negative experience: I was in the waiting room for 2 hours and in my room for 4 hours only to get stitches. I saw the nurses laughing and not taking anything serious. I also have asthma and it took them 2 hours to see me on that visit as well
Negative experience: They were very rude to me and didn't even see me for a few minutes and sent me on my way and then I woke up the next morning to my face swolled up
Positive experience: Have had nothing but awesome care on my visits to this hospital location.
Negative experience: Worst emergency room ever! The nurses and Dr's laugh and joke at the nurses station while patients suffer. No urgency whatsoever. Never kept a check on my vitals for the 11 hours of wait time I had in the hallway. I have never been made to feel so unimportant and insignificant in my life! Will NEVER take anyone to this ER!
Fantastic experience: I had a wonderful experience at Erlanger Murphy Radiology today . I arrived around 4:30 and even though Frances was supposed to be getting off she checked me In anyway and was very pleasant. Mindy did my leg X Ray and she was also very pleasant and was working double duty at the front desk and as the X-ray technician. Health care workers do not get the credit they deserve. Thank you Mindy and Frances for your wonderful service.
Negative experience: Not only is the service horrible, the injury I received while at work was paid in full, only to have them send me a bill personally for the same amount as well. They would not discuss why I was double charged and sent it to collections. Only go if you want to be stolen from
Negative experience: absolutely terrible, i’ve been sitting here waiting to be seen for two hours while drs have been sitting in the office talking to the nurses
Fantastic experience: Everyone is so kind ❤ Was in & out in No time. Thank a Caregiver ❤ So Thank You All ❤ for all Yu do ❤
Negative experience: Wife was begging for husband .he was masked and sanitized and they still refused to let him go back .and when did go back she was just laying there and nothing being done to her
Negative experience: This review probably will come to no surprise to most, considering this “emergency room” already has an impressive two stars. But here we go anyway… I come in with a tennis ball size lump on my ankle after severely rolling it. Phyllis Harden, later finding out she’s the manager or person in charge at the emergency room, was the one who came to get me from the waiting room. I answered some questions and was asked the level of my pain. 8/10 I responded. Phyllis Harden acknowledged my pain and asked if a shot was okay. I said yes. My elderly grandmother was there with me because I couldn’t drive myself, so we all agreed pain medicine was a good idea. 20 minutes went by. The x-ray technicians came into my room with the big x-ray machine and took some pictures. After about 30-40 minutes my pain was getting worse and still no pain shot. My grandmother decided to go ask someone if they could administer the shot soon, considering the amount of pain I was in. Mind you, I can hear everything that’s going on from my room. After my grandmother inquired, I heard someone say “yes, hold on.” Okay. Maybe not the ideal response you expect from a medical professional, but after all, this is Murphy. So my grandmother came back to the room and sat down. 10 more minutes passed by. She got up to go check again. She asked kindly again, “my grandson is in a lot of pain, is there anyway he can get that shot?” This time it was Phyllis Harden she asked. The response my grandmother got was, “mam we’re busy, please hold on.” Now it’s getting aggravating. Busy, not busy, that’s not my issue. I shouldn’t have to suffer because you guys are “busy.” I shouldn’t have to get fed excuses by a medical professional (actually the emergency room manager) about why I have to stay in pain and how it’s not her problem. On top of that, the tone that was directed toward my elderly grandmother who was simply attempting to help me, was uncalled for and ridiculous. With the huge lump on my ankle and my pain worse than ever, I got up out of the hospital bed and confronted Phyllis Harden about the disrespect. She was equally as rude to me. I then told them I wasn’t going to put up with it and decided to leave. Considering I can’t exactly walk, on my way out I pointed to a wheel chair that I used on the way in, and asked another nurse if she could hand it to me. She looked at my in my face and replied, “If you’re leaving, we aren’t allowed to touch you.” Okay. Well. I asked you to hand me a wheelchair, not to touch me. So I grabbed the wheelchair myself and wheeled right out of the building. This also was not the nurse attempting to follow procedure, this was the nurse being petty and rude. Is it their fault they were busy and couldn’t attend to everyone as immediately as people would like? Absolutely not. Is it their fault they might have been short staffed? Absolutely not. Is it their fault they handled the situation (the emergency room being busy) in this specific manner with zero respect and customer service skills? Absolutely. My grandmother or myself should not be disrespected or treated as a nuisance because of my pain level. If you’re going to claim the “medical professional” title, then simply be a medical professional. Needless to say, I wouldn’t recommend this place to my worst enemy. Save the frustration and drive to Blairsville.
Negative experience: Terrible place. Doctors in ER not knowledge. Had an infected leg for months because they cut open a hematoma and falsified records stating I had an infection which I did not. Didn't even know how to do stitches after they made an incision that wasn't even necessary.
Negative experience: Like a toxic relationship, I gave it one more chance and I'm disappointed again. The name changed but don't you think with this many negative reviews, something has to happen? High white blood cells on a liver means something is wrong, not a sign to send the patient home with narcotics. Harris Regional told me I had gallstones and needed surgery. Which saved my life. No thanks to the carelessness of an emergency room whose only solution is feeding the addicts painkillers. Just tear it down, the majority goes to Blairsville anyway.
Negative experience: I got there at 7:30 am did paper work at 7:50 waited until 8:30 to be seen by the nurse. Waited till 8:40 to see the Dr. they sent my prescription to the wrong place this was at 9:45 called back a second time and was told they will send it right over. Waited this whole time for my prescription. At 11:50 called a 3 rd time and they still have not sent my prescription over to Ingles?? This has to be the worst Dr. Office I have ever been to.
Negative experience: This place almost killed me and my unborn child. I know several other people who have also had life-threateningly awful experiences with this hospital. I wouldn't take a dog here. However, I have received excellent medical care at other hospitals in the area. If you need a nearby hospital, I'd recommend the one in Sylva, NC or the one in Blairsville, GA.
Negative experience: Unbelievably poor service. Took wife in and she wasn't seen for 6 hours. They discharged her with pain pills and a probable diagnosis of pancreatitis. There is generally a long wait time at the so called ER, but 6 hours is ridiculous. The staff that cared for her was completely lost. She heard a nurse ask another nurse where to put patients who test positive for covid. She wondered if she should send them back to the waiting area. The other nurse didn't know. These are RNs who had been on a duty a few hours. Great infection control.
Negative experience: Quite a while ago I went to the e.r. With a serious reaction to a new medication, had trouble breathing. Was told to sit and wait, went back to the desk 3 times and ending up waiting one hr. Till the reaction passed and I just left. Do not go there.
Fantastic experience: Dr.Hill and the staff was absolutely amazing. I thought I was on deaths door dealing with Covid 19 and these people were God sent for me. My nurse Brittany and Dr.Hill always made sure they checked in on me, actually listened to my symptoms and got me the medication I needed immediately. I have never had someone take such good care of me . They genuinely cared about my well-being. The whole staff seemed to care and take care of my needs. Very impressed. Good job
Negative experience: Emergency Admittance April 2021 ::Don't go here unless you absolutely have to. They unexpectedly released my 79 yr old mother in the same condition as when she was admitted. (No discharge instructions.) Noone at home to care for her and no "home care" arranged! They didn't bother to find out. They did prescribe an extremely strong sedative that would knock out an elephant; she did not need that. She barely weighs 100 lbs., And couldn't even walk. We threw that away per her PcP. So, no, I would not recommend this ER.
Positive experience: I normally dont write many reviews but after having to use this ER last night and seeing all the bad reviews, I wanted to write this on my experience. My overall impression isnt that bad, compared to other emergency rooms i have been treated at. The care and tests were appropriate for diagnosing the cause of my issue. My only complaints about this ER was the lack of any follow-up. It didnt look like they were that busy but being from the medical field and worked in an ER myself, normally you would check-in on your patients more frequently than I was. Overall, I don't think this is a bad place, from my first impressions, and I would go there again if the need comes up. I doubt the hospital reads these reviews but I hope some coaching of the ER staff to check-in/follow-up with patients more often is addressed. I realize there is a lot of waiting for test results and labs to come back for the doctor to review, but there needs to be more patient interaction by the nurses.
Negative experience: Emergency Room was horrible no one seems to care about what’s going on.
Fantastic experience: I recently had Surgery at Erlanger Murphy Medical Center and received excellent care from the admitting area, Pre-op, Operating room staff, and Recovery room staff. Thank you and thank you Dr. Martin
Fantastic experience: I arrived to Murphy Medical Center via ambulance after collision with a bobcat on hwy 143 on a motorcycle wreck, I was very pleased with the trauma services provided by Dr. Hill, Dr. Burlison, and Dr. Vaughan, one even called me few days later to check on my injuries.
Negative experience: This facility has an employee advising the public and our elderly not to wear masks amidst the COVID pandemic. It’s very concerning to me that our elderly could be effected by this. When I pointed this out to the employee she physically threatened me. Please be watchful if you have loved ones here.
Negative experience: If at all possible, I would avoid this hospital like the plague! I was in a car accident in 2018 and taken to this hospital via ambulance. *Shoutout to the ambulance crew as they were efficient, super nice/calming...as I wasn’t sure what my injuries included but had experienced back pain and could not get off the ground* During my time at the hospital I wasn’t impressed and the explanation from the doctor about the CT Scan took all of 1 minute for him to explain. (Later on after leaving and reviewing everything on paper from the ct scan, I found there was ALOT more than what was discussed and information that was not listed correctly....I understand they get busy and don’t have time to go over everything, or in my case, mostly nothing. The real issue is the billing department. I don’t have the time or energy to explain everything, but it has been the WORST experience. Everything was SO screwed up, I couldn’t imagine another hospital that reaches this level of incompetency....and to say the least, I’m still dealing with it in 2020. Do yourself a favor and do not get involved with this hospital...I’m pretty sure I’ve aged 10 years due to their stupidity.
Negative experience: I went to the ER for the flu they said I had a 102 fever.and sent swabs to the lab for the flu hour later Dr.hill Vicente said I had the flu and said nothing we can do for at least give some antibiotics.i think because I have no insurance I was treated like this.so I've got a ER bill and sit in a room for an hour or more for nothing.erlanger is just like the old Murphy medical they don't care about there patients
Negative experience: This place is far from any other hospital with the Erlanger name attached to it. Erlanger in Chattanooga saved my life after a motorcycle accident that left me in such terrible shape, the doctors had already given my family the worst expectation speech. I have visited this place twice and both times were an absolute waste of money and hope. If you want to clean and dress your own wounds, or waite 2 hours with a broke facial bone to get treated like a drug addict and sent away, the day before Thanksgiving, with no treatment at all, then this is your place. Two chances I've given this place, and after this, I can firmly say that a person should be charged with a felony for the way they treat patients. I'm a veterinarian technician and intake supervisor for a local division of an international poultry breeding industry and can tell you that it is a felony to do animals the way they do patients. I knew I was in for a holiday of intense pain when I over heard the grey hair doctor with the seemingly eastern European accent brag to the RN about letting the diabetic patient he had just seen suffer for her bad, personal health decision that brought her there. I am insured, I am never late on any bill payment, but I refuse to pay this place a dime for the way I was treated. Even if it's a measly copay as I owe them. I'd rather go to jail. Garunteed better health care there than this place.
Negative experience: This is THE WORST hospital I have ever been to. The staff that checked my husband in were wonderful. Once we were in a room it was horrible. Nurses swearing including using the f word and my six year old was with us. Another nurse was bad mouthing a patient and commented how she didn't want to deal with her. It took 40 minutes for anyone to come and see us. My husband had been vomiting all day and had diarrhea. They never checked him for anything except blood pressure. My husband's nurse acted as if we were a bother.
Negative experience: Whatever you do dont go here you are better off traveling a little longer to get help. This happened a few years ago and it has changed since then but honestly it's not gotten any better, tried visiting it again and found out I had anemia and wanted to take more blood after the first 5 tubes. Anyways I was diagnosed with bipolar and they gave me Oxcarbazepine also known as Trileptal it's for bipolar and epilepsy. It CAN kill you if you take to much and me being in a depression I took 18 pills. For those of you that dont know please look it up. I ended up passing out on the floor at a McDonald's (where I was working at the time) and one of my managers called 911 and Murphy's ambulance shows up. They said it was nothing but a pill for my heart and I only took maybe 10 or 12. I was fading in and out the only thing I remember after that was one the giant needle they stuck in my hand and looking over to see my coworkers and two was when I woke up several hours later to see my mom beside me. They messed with my stuff and could have killed me. NEVER IN A MILLION YEARS especially after the last time will I go back even if I am dying. I would rather die of my on accord than to give it to them to make me miserable.
Negative experience: My friend was coughing up blood, and after "seeing" what was wrong with him, they said his previous prescription for his hiatal hernia wasnt even for his stomach, the next genius said he needed some tums, and then they dismissed him and thank GOD for Medicaid, otherwise he would have the same fate as me still owing them 1100 dollars for the "practitioner" bill alone for a simple saline IV. If you have an issue, go to a different hospital, becuase chances are these people will either be the cause of your death, or will not know what to do and make you go else where. SERIOUSLY, DO NOT GO HERE!!!! THIS IS FOR YIUR OWN HEALTH!!!!
Negative experience: I had to give them a rating to leave a comment, otherwise I would not have given them 1 star. The community heard so much about how Erlanger was going to have so many positive changes in our town's hospital. Since Erlanger took over most of the facilities issues are now worse! As a person with a chronic illness I need care frequently...I wish I could have quality care here in my hometown without having to travel to find decent care!!
Fantastic experience: Were very pleased with this hospital it has been the best we’ve ever found Thank y’all for everything
Negative experience: You know, ever since Erlanger took over Murphy Medical Center... They have been Turning Away everybody who does not have insurance... Not quoting that, but everyone who I have talked to that has went to the new Murphy Medical Center that has had poor insurance or no insurance at all is giving excuses for reasons why they cannot be admitted or should not be admitted or they even turn them aside to another facility. What I just experienced tonight was not fair at all, they turned me aside and said that I should go to the Urgent Care which charges $200 for uninsured people and she just twiddled her fingers as if it was part of her Duty and couldn't help it. I have to be seen because I am on probation, the probation office door before you walk in and Hayesville North Carolina states that if you are sick turn around immediately walk away and call your probation officer and tell him what is going on. When my probation officer tells me that I need a doctor's note or else he will violate me fully because he doesn't quite believe my medical need due to Mercer in my nose and on my face. But the lady is simply said that she has never heard of that ever and that she could not help me. No thank you Murphy Medical Center, most likely because I do not have this doctor's note that I need and I do not have insurance, my one and a half year old in my two-and-a-half-year-old will have to go without their father!! And my kids are my life, they are my everything, they are my whole world, and they are trying to take that from me due to not seeing me because I didn't have insurance this is unfair unmoral!!! #thxalot
Negative experience: As an RN myself for over 35 years, never go here. I had to sign myself out against medical advice to save my life. Horrible nursing care on the floors. I would give a zero, but I can't with this system.
Fantastic experience: Never had a bad experience here.
Negative experience: I need my gallbladder removed and my right ovary is very small and twisted I’m in much pain and they want do the surgery
Negative experience: So I went to murphy medical center to get a x-ray to find out if it was broke or not. By 12:30 still no doctor... In our room with 3 other people none of our deviders had a call button for a nurse my swelling became worse after sitting there for 3 hours my wife finally takes a nurse down by the name of ( miss ) she said she would ask my doctor what was going on she came right back an informed me she could not find my doctor an said sorry an walked away. I then asked a nuse practioner what the nurse name was that could not find my doctor said he did not know who I was talking about. He then said he miss diagnosed me i went an got a second look with Silva my ankle was broke.
Negative experience: Drs dont care about your pain they only care about getting u out . I do t like this e.r. anymore I have severe chronic illnesses and because I'm 32 they think I am making it all up even tho I need a liver transplant plus many other problems.
Negative experience: IIhad to give them one star so I could leave a comment, but really NO stars from me.. Murphy Medical Center has the most unprofessional and rudest staff I've ever met. Their urgency isn't there either. I've been here for three hours in a freezing cold room and still haven't been seen by a Doctor. If you are bleeding to death you might as well just die, (for example) that's how much they actually "care" for their patients.
Negative experience: I again had the chance to see no patient care in action. I had to go to hospital as my left arm was swelling and most painful. I got there at 8 AM and did not leave until 3. And then nothing was done to help me at all. Then the dr came back in and said I think this is cellulitis and put me on antibiotics and steroids and pain medicine. I really think we should have just dont xrays and we would have had an answer. Erlanger being there has not changed anything. It has in some places made it worse. This was the last straw no more wasting of time with Murphy.
Negative experience: Urge yourself to go anywhere else. This facility completely lacks ANY sense of urgency. Will NEVER go there again if my life depends on it. Main ER doctor literally SHUFFLING (in the slowest fashion you could imagine for a turtle race) around looking for a CAUTER pen!!! That poor patient!!! I'll be polite enough to not throw around names even though I should. I was also told for over TWO hours I was next to be seen, meanwhile witnessing straight laziness, snacking and laughter. Was not even seen! If I dare get billed for this obscenity, I'll be contacting my attorney. If you can absolutely help it, do not waste your time!!! Hospitals of this nature should be regularly evaluated and/or cleansed of staff. Utterly pathetic doesn't even articulate the state of this facility.
Fantastic experience: I want to thank Linda,Trudy,Ronna, Alicia and Kammy for the excellent care during my procedure at the hospital. You were very knowledgeable, professional and truly committed to patient care. I apologize if i have forgotten to name everyone that cared for me that day. You were all true professionals. Thanks again.
Negative experience: As told by my doctor to go to the emergency room, I did so. Very friendly staff, my issue was: I explained to staff that I think I tore a ligament in my knee, I don't need X-Rays because this wasn't a bone issue. So, they did XRays...and of course nothing wrong with bones. I was told that they do not have an MRI machine at their facility and released me. Needless to say, my issue has since gotten worse and using their referral I won't see a doctor for 10 more days. What kind of hospital doesn't have an MRI?!
Negative experience: No hurry to get you scheduled for a mammogram when you have a mass in breast. A three month appointment later. A person could be dead! How can they be backed up and so behind on mammogram appointments? Yet they have time to go all out for the walk for life every spring for breast cancer awareness. I even called scheduling after my dr did to ask about the process so I could decide whether to go somewhere else. No one ever returned my call. I’ve worked in medical field for 20 years and have a little sense about professionalism, the management of the X-ray department or whoever is in charge of how things are run at the hospital and the management of scheduling is lacking. It wasn’t always like this. I can’t wait until Erlanger takes over. I hope they sort everything out. God bless them for the work they have ahead of them. I’m having to drive to Asheville for my mammogram and ultrasound. They got me in in two days. I was planning on using Murphy medical center if I have breast cancer but I won’t now. And I have wonderful insurance so it’s not like my bills won’t get paid.
Negative experience: This is literally the worst hospital I've ever been to. Went into the ER with my pregnant wife because she started having heavy bleeding at work, and she was afraid she was miscarriaging. No one tried to clean up any of the blood. No one checks in on her while she is puking and screaming in pain. No one showed where the call button for a nurse was. She didnt get any kind of pain/ nausea medicine until about 2 hours in. Only thing they have time for is singing happy birthday to someone and notifying a birth, you know, outside the room where there's a possible miscarriage. Seen the doctor once in 3 hours, for like 2 minutes. The staff has no sense of urgency or professionalism.
