Negative experience: This place is an actual joke I wouldn’t even rate it 1 star. I brought my 13 month here the other day because he didn’t urinate for over 17 hours. The doctors looked at me and said my kid was fine healthy nothing wrong with him and they didn’t feel comfortable doing a catheter on him. I then told them ok I’ll bring my kid to UVM they then proceeded to ask me what I wanted them to do I told them I’m not a doctor they are. After 3 doctors told me nothing was wrong with my child I walked out and brought him to UVM where he is now been staying the past 2 nights because of NMC mess ups. He’s had a catheter over night iv’s blood draws x-rays full abdomen ultrasound. And there is something going wrong with his blood counts that are quite serious. So thank you nmc for being a total joke and failing my kid. Get doctors in there that actually know what there doing and not question the parents

Negative experience: YOUR MEDICAL INFO IS NOT SECURE WITH THIS FACILITY! We're gonna set aside this facility continuin to employ a doctor (Ernesto Cantu) who was caught on recording spouting "Yàhtzee" talking points in front of my small children durin my first appointment with him-AND how they messed up an invasive painful test, knew the day after, and never alerted me (I had to find out nearly two weeks later when I called for the results and they dismissively told me I'd just have to redo it). We're settin aside ALLLL the other subpar care to focus on YOUR data (and probably you) being unsafe with this facility. Do you know how badly a hospital is doing for the same patient to witness not one, but TWO HIPAA violations? The first time I woke up in their ER with a different patient's information strapped to my arm. While this is unacceptable in ANY circumstance it is particularly heinous here as 1) I was literally already a patient at this facility and 2) I was brought in with my ID on me. Even being in agony/an absolute stupor from the meds they'd given me I knew based on the terrible excuse for care I'd received prior to this and their response to my complaint about it they'd be uncooperative about this- so I documented it. When a nurse came in to give me meds and scanned my bracelet I brought the mixup to her attention and she shrugged. I was very nervous at the thought of some random lady gettin charged for MY services and expressed this to her, assuring her the VA would cover it given my veteran status if it was just scanned to me. Yes, I'm sure I was bein obnoxious- I was literally med'ed up and in pain- but that did not excuse her roughin me up to get that bracelet off. When I contacted the hospital after this to alert them to the HIPAA vio the security officer did exactly what I expected- gaslit. She asked if I was SUUURE I'd seen such a thing "because they'd given me a LOT of meds since I was in so much pain and that can definitely make you see things " I told her even in my rough state I knew they'd attempt this which is why I documented it with pictures and videos. Her small "oh" in response to that was barely audible. They tried VERY hard to get me to give over this patient's name to which I repeatedly said "if the vio had been documented correctly (as they insisted it had) to alert the patient to their info bein compromised they wouldn't need that from me." Now let's fast forward- My roommate needed to have a procedure done recently and the VA sent him here. I was his ride/emergency contact/person. I walked up to the desk AS he came out of surgery and the desk turned me away, sayin it would take several hours for his spinal to wear off. Shortly after this he called me in a panic sayin somethin about "wrong person/surgery" and "papers." Since I couldn't get back to him and the signal wasn't holding well for the call he resorted to messagin me. These absolute GENIUSES handed him someone else's paperwork and in his groggy state he thought they did the wrong surgery on him No apologies, nothin. They then had the nerve to start demandin of HIM why I wasn't back there girlypop, be so for real✋ NOW, I reported THIS vio shortly after we got home to see what the facility said, but to ensure they couldn't just cover their backside I did NOT tell them how I acquired this patient's info- I just started readin it off. I told her I did nothin nefarious to acquire this info, and that it was freely given by her facility. These ppl really couldn't just check their own records cause even when they called me back later they still hadn't deciphered how I got this. THIS PROVES IT WAS ONCE AGAIN NOT DOCUMENTED WHEN THE PATIENT BROUGHT THIS TO STAFF'S ATTENTION. The real kicker here? When I asked her to confirm they had contacted the patient of the FIRST HIPAA vio she insisted they had but somehow couldn't find and confirm her name...remember how they didn't have her name and I wouldn't give it? GO ANYWHERE ELSE Y'ALL

Negative experience: My mom was in Franklin County rehab (UNFORTUNATELY) where they were the main problem. She got a urinary tract infection they ignored within a few months in there. She got admitted at Northwestern Medical Center their ER guys hurt my mom trying to poke her and ended up hitting a main artery. EDIT: in the end... a letter was sent to my sister stating that those ER guys were traveling ERs and there was no way to track them. So keep in mind the next time that you go to any medical facility find out if the person who's treating you is a traveler or local because they can't track traveling Medical peeps who worked at their facility.

Fantastic experience: I was very happy with the care my toddler received when she went in for a minor surgery. All of the staff: reception, nurses, doctors, were all very patient, attentive, and kind. Given his great reviews, we traveled in order to work with Dr. Aydinyan and couldn't have been happier that we did.

Positive experience: So the first night the nurse Barbara was nice. They next day and night were ok but they kinda swept me off cause I was getting better which fine. The food was yummy. The sodas were cold. It's been a minute since I said this but NWMC not bad I didn't die while I was here huh. Also a shout to the LNA Sam & The traveling nurse who was really sweet and came from Pennsylvania you know who you are ty.

I have no interest in your financial plans I want the hospital to do a better job. According to state law you were supposed to bill me within 28 days.

Positive experience: Would have rated it a 2, 1 even but it seems by the time I was about to rip the IV out and just go home they did a shift change and this Angel of a doctor Named Joseph M Boone came over, listened to me, got me the hotpack which was the only thing that made the pain bearable, he gave me something for pain (nice thought, I have a high pain torrance but unlike the IV meds given prior, I had some relief after I got home, and the steroid he prescribed for the pain has made it so I am finally able to sit in my bed. I had been in a recliner for a week with the worst shoulder pain, constantly having to move my arm, couldn't lay in my bed. This Dr is very special. They are lucky to have him and I was even luckier to have been seen by him. He is a 10/10 Doctor, you don't ever find such people usually at the ER at which I only go if I feel like I'm going to die, thought I was having a heart attack. Steroids are starting to work and I have a referral to get a shot in my shoulder. JOSEPH M. BOONE IS A SAINT. side note, the next shift nurse was much nicer as well.

Negative experience: I came in this Friday because of a golf size sore that had developed at the base of my skull. Within.a matter of 3 days it became red and sore to the touch. I sat on the er waiting room for 3 and a half hours. They were taking other people ahead of me so I assume they were triaging. Finally got taken to an exam room and sat there for another hour and 15 minutes. Never saw a nurse all the time I was there. I went to the nurse's station to find out why no one had been in and was told she would send a nurse right in and waited 15 minutes and no one showed. I finally had had enough and just left untreated. This is not exceptable. They said they were super busy because of emergency and ambulance calls I never saw one emergency come through the door. . My brother in law is on fire dept and he said there was not one call on the scanner. The thing is they could of attleast come in and checked on me and let me know the situation. There was a young girl there right after me that was in real bad pain, she cried the whole time she was there and she was in the waiting area or atleast 2 1/2 hours. So after 6 and half hours I left and was never treated but they made sure they got my insurance. I do not believe there should be any charge to my insurance. I NEVER saw a nurse or a dr, all the time I was there.

Fantastic experience: We unexpectedly spent Tuesday night in the Emergency Department at NMC for a head laceration my son had as a result of a fall. We couldn't have asked for better care, compassion and demeanor from the amazing professionals that treated him. Despite being very busy, they were prompt, patient and most importantly gentle in their approach with our son. They explained everything to him as their patient rather than talking about him to us, they played with him, and allowed him to see and touch almost everything they touched him with. Although it was still a difficult experience for him (sutures are never fun for toddlers), I'm confident we wouldn't have received better care anywhere else.

Fantastic experience: I"ve used NMC services on and off since 2014 to include Urgent Care multiple times, Radiology, Lab, Specialists, Dermotology, and Imaging. With very few exceptions, I"ve been extremely impressed by the knowledge and professionalism of the staff and volunteers, and with the services received. I think the hospital has been and is a wonderful convenience for many and a great asset to the surrounding communities.

Negative experience: This hospital is known in the area for being awful. I’m not sure how half the doctors are even employable. They can’t be bothered to call and make an appointment after my doctor referred me to radiology. I’ve had tests done there and they will bill me but not bother to call and tell me my results. They almost killed my mother a few years back after telling her that her post-op pain was normal and she would feel “like a brand new woman” a few days later. A few days later, she went back to their ER and was sent to UVM where they figured out she was actually not ok and required emergency surgery on the spot. Do not go here - just take the trip to UVM if you can.

Negative experience: I went in for excruciating back pain after having hematuria the week before. I waited 4 hours in the waiting room only to be brought back and brushed off by PA Higgins because I had a follow up scheduled with my Dr and Urologist after a visit to Urgent Care. I asked for tests to be done(ultrasound, etc) the only test they offered was a urinalysis. Did that only to have PA Higgins come back and say there is no blood in my urine. I check my patient portal while waiting for nurse to come back to do ekg(not necessary after I was told my vitals were good) and notice there is results of High RBC(red blood cell) in my urine. The nurse confirmed there was by reviewing the results. I have no complaints against the nursing staff, however the PA should hold patient care to a higher standard. Especially in my discharge paperwork stating there is nothing emergent about my condition as I have follow up care scheduled already with other clinics. Also she stat3d she had concerns for CKD(Chronic Kidney Disease) I followed up with my PCP and cannot thank NOTCH Primary Care enough for pushing to have more tests done to get answers.

Fantastic experience: I went into today convinced it was my heart (symptoms, plus family history of heart attack), turns out it's just the flu . I had the absolute kindest nurse and NP. They were so reassuring, patient, and never made me feel silly for being there. Thank you both!!

Negative experience: Absolutely horrible. I understand short staffed, i understand overworked, I even understand typical wait times for Non Emergencies. That treatment is based off Need, not want. BUT. When someone is losing consciousness, to the point they smashed their face off the ground brusing their face, popping blood vessels, blood pressure through the roof, extreme asthmatic, sits in a hallway gurney for HOURS, and not ONE nurse, doctors, stop to check in, ask how said person is, not even a HELLO…. Like really? When this person was seen up there two days prior?! Wonder why UVM is overrun because this hospital is a joke. Listening to the nurses and doctors talk poorly about the patients they were looking in on as well. Just disappointing. Be better.

Negative experience: Don't even bother trying to schedule anything. Do yourself a favor and either have your procedure scheduled at UVMMC or just walk into urgent care.

Fantastic experience: I went to the Emergency Dept with a severe allergic reaction. My face was swollen and numb and my throat was closing up. The intake woman asked my name and dob, told me they’d take me right away and immediately got a doctor to come out to take me into the treatment area. Once there, I was quickly surrounded by 4 to 5 nurses who were given instructions by Dr. Pearsall as they inserted an IV, gave me an injection in my hip, took my vitals, hooked me up to monitors and asked pertinent questions about my symptoms. I couldn’t have been treated more professionally or quickly by everyone involved. Thank you Dr. Pearsall, Cate Beattie and all the others for your service.

Sara Vaclavik 1 year ago

Negative experience: Here was my recent experience with NMC's emergency department. I presented the morning of 11/19/23 with symptoms suggestive of a spinal nerve issue (horrible shooting pain down both legs and a delay in urination). I got through triage quickly and found that to be the best part of the experience, as the nurse seemed concerned and took a thorough history, including the fact that I had been dealing with worsening sciatic pain since August, had a family history of stenosis (congenitally narrow spinal column), and had been unsuccessful in managing pain per my PCP's recommendation to use OTC meds and engage in weekly PT. Once I was in back, I waited almost an hour and a half to be seen by a provider, with this happening only after my partner approached the nursing station and asked when I would be see. The provider (an female NP whose name I cannot remember and from whom I received no paperwork directly) came in and reviewed the history I had shared. She said she wanted to do a rectal tone exam to evaluate for a spinal cord injury. This was a vulnerable process, and when I found that I could not bear down with her fingers inside me, I started wailing thinking that I may be on my way to sustaining a spinal cord injury. The provider's response to my upset was to yell over my crying to ask "what was going on?" -- rather than taking a moment to let me cry, provide a modicum of comfort and compassion, and check in about my status. After this procedure, I was given a bladder scan by a nurse to determine if I was retaining urine as I had felt no urge to go since that morning. My bladder was found to be fairly full (500ml), and I was asked to get out of bed and try to urinate in the patient bathroom. At this point, my vitals had not been checked since triage, and my pain was worsening. I got up twice to try to pee and found that I had lost the ability to do so while waiting in the ED. I informed the nurse of this fact and finally given an IM narcotic for pain, with my vitals again going unchecked. I was then asked to go through with an X-ray despite my showing the provider an MRI report, including images, from having gone through an outpatient center the night before as referred by my primary. I could not sit comfortably in a wheelchair and so had to walk through pain to the X-ray area. The NP informed me that reading the report on my cell phone was "hard on her eyes." The provider told me following the X-ray that I was going to be transferred via ambulance to UVMMC due to the need for an emergent MRI and specialized care. This news came after I had been in the ED already for 3-4 hours. I asked if I was going to have a catheter placed prior to transport due to the level of urinary retention and was told yes. I waited for this procedure to happen and called a nurse after about a half-hour to ask when. This nurse was a different nurse, and I had to explain in painstaking detail that I was asking about a catheter due to being unable to pee. This was after the nurse's response was that I should "try to get up to go on more time" -- as if I had not clearly explained that I had physically lost the ability to pee! I was transported to UVMMC, but not before the provider as part of the consent to transfer explained that a risk of ambulance transport was that I might die or be hurt in an accident. When the EMT asked me what my vitals were during my visit, I told him that I had last gotten these taken at triage. He was absolutely shocked. The best thing that happened in this situation was to be taken out of this hospital and sent to UVMMC. Unless I am unable to drive myself or my loved one to Burlington for emergent medical care, I will never place my trust in this ED ever again. If the utter lack of timeliness, compassion, sensitivity, and skilled care I experienced is the norm, it is 1000% unacceptable and an arguable risk to the health of Franklin County community. EDIT TO ADD: I needed to receive emergency spine surgery at UVMMC due to an extruding lumbar disc with severe spinal stenosis.

Negative experience: Honestly this hospital is a joke. Nurses will make patients feel uncomfortable about being honest about if they smoke/ drink. (One nurse just tried to lecture/shame my boyfriend(21) about it). I have had to be poked MANY times here, but when I go to other places they never have a problem getting it first try. Wait times are insane, and they don’t listen to what you say. I know someone who just got sent home yesterday for an Infection, they’re diabetic and they had to return today because it’s getting worse, yet the doctors said that NORMAL?!? I feel like they just hire people with almost no experience/common sense. It’s sad when people mention they need to go to the hospital, EVERYONE directs them to Burlington.

Fantastic experience: I would like to thank Amy Fox NP & Dr. Michael Kennedy for their extraordinary care of my elderly father with his recent hospital stay at Northwestern Medical. The compassion, kindness, gentleness, honesty, and great sense of humor he (and us as his family) received was very much appreciated and will never be forgotten. You each demonstrated excellent communication skills, an extraordinary bedside manner, and an unwavering commitment to my father's well being. The nursing staff was also exceptional. In respect, admiration, appreciation and gratitude for all that you are and all that you do, Esther Lotz.

Negative experience: Northwestern medical center is a laughing joke with nurses who try to be drs and do not listen to what you have to say. Half of them are rude and the other half try to prescribe you medication your allergic to. They make you sit there for hrs just so they can soak every penny you have then tell you there is nothing wrong with you even tho your leg is swollen from ur knee to ur foot and have fluid in ur leg then tell you they wont give you anything for the inflammation then tell you that referred you to orthopedics but when you call to make a appointment they have nothing in their computer about it. ‍♀️You would be better off going to Burlington or a hospital out of state.

Fantastic experience: I had to call today to make an appointment at NWMC for the Outpatient Lab and was greeted with the usual courtesy I get/expect. I then decided to look at the Google Reviews, as I had never done one. Some of the reviews were harrowing and I am sorry for the folks whose trauma appears to have been magnified. Mine is quite the OPPOSITE review. Over the last 13 years, myself and my family have had dozens of procedures at NWMC...everything from simple blood draws to hip replacement surgery. My family and myself have been treated with kindness, compassion, and professionalism. Maybe folks like myself do not leave reviews if treatment is superb.

Negative experience: Emergency room staff and front off needs to learn decent respect! My mom brought my father in to the emergency room for a stroke. He couldn’t walk or talk, his left side was completely not working and they took him as a joke! Not only made him wait in the waiting room for a while but also treated him as if he was faking until an on call doctor told him he was having a stroke over a camera!!! They only one to treat him with any respect was the lady asking Covid questions. Disgusting.

Negative experience: Please do not bring your loved ones here. Go to UVM. This hospital is what gives small town hospitals a bad name! My dad’s care was mismanaged. Case manager Chelsea, shame on you! No accountability or follow up. Told they would follow up with me on why my Dad didn’t get what he needed. Crickets! This is not a nurse problem! Thank you Trevor for giving me dad great care- in a terrible, unsafe situation you made it a little better.

Negative experience: By far the worst ER I've ever been to. Do yourself a favor and just drive to UVM. They've forgotten about me in the waiting room. If they dont actually forget about you in the waiting room you'll just wait forever to be seen. Phone operators are extremely rude when you call to inquire about wait or whether or not you should be seen.

Screaming no. I only lost blood and my heart rate keeps jumping to 145, leave me in pain whatever come in and purposely cause pain while I'm already in it. This place is a joke and I will be finding out who the nurse is who tried intimidating and doing the opposite of her oath. Only have a foreign object in my foot

Negative experience: I would leave no stars. They are trying to kill people. When my dad was a patient their the nurses took his pain medication and said tell anyone and you'll disappear. My dad kept going their and they kept discharging him to the point of near death so we took him to Burlington hospital. Burlington hospital told us they should be ASHAMED of themselves that MANY people in that area are taking the hour drive to go to Burlington. I had a heart infection and was near death and they dismissed me. I thank the Lord my GOD for getting me through that HORRIBLE PAINFUL year with no help from this place. I'm just thankful I survived IT WAS BAD. The very last chance I gave them the most recent trip I took their was for pneumonia. I waited 2 hours in an empty room forgotten about. When they remembered me they said you have a upper respatory infection and that THEIRS NOTHING THEY CAN DO! Again they DISMISSED ME WITHOUT CARE! I said all I wanted was antibiotics and they said NO! Can you believe that!? No! They said. Unbelievable. Going back to Burlington hospital so Burlington hospital can shame them ONCE AGAIN. I think the worst part about this whole thing is they know what they're doing is beyond criminal and they DON'T TRY TO HIDE IT. If you mention the lack of care they will say owell. They just don't care at all they know they're untouchable from cops police and over all the law in general. Don't put yourself through it just go to Burlington hospital. This place steals your medication they prescribe to you in building, threaten patients with violence, and will not prescribe ANYTHING outside the building. They're in it to collect insurance money, steal medication, and end lives. That place NEEDS TO BE SHUT DOWN ITS CRIMINAL AND I HOPE THEY GO UNDER INVESTIGATION SOON! I speak for more then just the emergency room I mean this whole building AND the building next to it. Criminals. They belong behind bars...

Negative experience: If I could give zero stars I would. My fiancé brought our 9 month old in with a temp of 102 and abnormal breathing and they have been waiting for over an hour to be triaged. I called and asked why he hasn’t been seen yet (I’m home with my oldest) and their reply was “there’s others who have higher needs currently” mind you, they haven’t even checked his oxygen levels once. For being an “Emergency” room they are not very urgent.

Negative experience: I realize that physicians are burnt out, but I don't think I can justify this with the experience I recently had with one of the physicians at this location. This physician was not only unfriendly, but seemed genuinely disinterested in any concerns I had. I was barely examined and was told I would need to have a covid test when I came in for concerns over strep throat. Aside from this, I have been to this clinic before and waited 15 minutes for a staff member to check me in. You could hear the staff chatting and laughing in another room while myself and other patients waited to be checked in. Completely unprofessional all around.

Negative experience: I’ve been to this ER multiple times throughout my life. A majority of the staff are judgmental and super dismissive of any problem or pain you are having. I struggle to think of one total good experience I’ve had there. To sum it up - I hate this place and it’s always the last place I want to be when I’m having a medical episode. Too bad UVM isn’t closer.

Tanner Hart 3 years ago

Negative experience: First I want to say you come to a hospital to get assistance and aid. Well we didn’t get a warm welcome or a good feeling about them helping us. Instead we got rude lady’s that are most definitely overworked, sick of there jobs and not friendly at all. They kicked me out of the hospital twice when I wanted to be next to my fiancé and make her feel the most at home as possible. My fiancé went to take a drink, so she took her mask down which she’s having trouble breathing as it is and the lady yelled at her with a tone of anger and made her not even wanna get seen here at all. By far the worst place to come for aid. Burlington Vt all the way. They don’t ever make you feel like you shouldn’t be there or are not going to get aid. If I could of picked no stars I would of. It makes you pick at least one star to write a review or else I wouldn’t of even given them the satisfaction.

Negative experience: Always nice to arrive at the hospital and see 2/3 workers in the emergency room on there phones and not react at all to a medical emergency, this place is the pit that only survives because there is no one else, it survives by taking all the rejected staff that get expelled or rejected by Burlington.

Negative experience: What a joke. My daughter went there to get help and they did nothing. Thanks for nothing.

Positive experience: Overall a good place to go for care. Most docs there know their stuff and will pass you on to UVM if it's something they can't do. For the size of the community, they are quite exceptional.

Negative experience: Why am I hearing that every time my friend goes to this place they send him home he can't breathe he needs help why are you people at this place not helping him I don't live up there but if I did he WOULD be getting the help he is needed. this place is filled with lazy incompetent people just read the reviews tells you all you need to know . I'm so disgusted with this place needs serious management. Do your jobs the one your patting yourselves on the back for SMFH....

Negative experience: When admitted into the hospital, I was told all of my medications would be taken and held until I was well enough to go back home. Once I was home, I found my class IV medication was NOT in my medical bag. This is a serious problem, not only was I missing my medication, but it could potentially be in the hands of someone who is abusing this drug working there. Drug test should be given and background checks as well.

Positive experience: I loved Northwest Hospital until I had Dr Landfish for a broken wrist.I complained they took action. Liked them again. I have had 2 neck surgeries by Dr.Barnum. I told him repeatedly something wasn't right ..He kept saying ..everything is fine ...WELL ITS NOT ! BEEN TO ANOTHER DR.

Positive experience: My son Raymond Dumont III spent 3 days and nights in and out of the ER. A nurse by the name of Francis pushed for us to get the immediate care and answers we needed. Thank You so much. Your professionalism is very appreciated. Healing from Accute Pancreatitis and a Kidney Stone has been extremely painful, for my son (seeing him suffer was rough). Your help eased us. As a mother I am ever so grateful.

Negative experience: I've been to this ER a few times over several years and to say I'm disappointed is an understatement. My last visit I was so frustrated with them and tired if trying to fight for them to give me better care I just gave up and left in tears. That visit was the first time in my life I felt someone was being sexist toward me. Unfortunately, it's the closest hospital so I'll just have to keep sticking up for myself.

Negative experience: Have had a family member with severe infection there twice in the last month. There is a lack of continuity of care by the doctors as they rotate out and we were constantly wondering why the new doctor on didn't follow the plan already set out by previous doctor. On this last visit this past week, housekeeping never came in from Thursday to Sunday. There were caps of medical supplies scattered on the floor which were a tripping hazard for the patient as well as visitors. The bathroom and shower were not cleaned until Sunday and only after we complained several times. We requested transfer to Burlington and were stonewalled by Northwestern. After several snafus by medical staff, we removed our family member to bring him to Burlington ourselves. Enough is enough.

Fantastic experience: I have always, I repeat, always, gotten excellent service, respectful care, from conscientious staff. Doctors were kind, professional, and knowledgeable. Nurses were helpful, gentle, and also kind.

Negative experience: Absolutely a joke of a medical facility.. They let ppl suffer in pain and cause more pain, rather than fixing any problem and finding correct solution. Myself and my husband we're both treated less than we ever should of been.. I STRONGLY ADVISE PEOPLE TO CONSIDER GOING TO BURLINGTON OR MASS FOR ANY MEDICAL ISSUES!!

Negative experience: This is the worse Hospital in the State of Vermont. They are very neglectefull in there professional practicing.they talk about How great they are you busy right! But they do not and I repeat Do Not Practice what they preach. They take you in under there care, then leave you behind like someone who neglected there PET.

Fantastic experience: I had a very positive experience at Northwestern Medical Center from making an appointment, to checking in, to meeting with the doctor. The staff was friendly, helpful, and efficient. Dr. Diverio was thorough and patient in explaining my MRI results and in answering questions I had about them. After the appointment, there was a question I had that I posted on my portal and the next day Dr. Diverio himself called to respond to my question, which helped ease my worry. I was impressed and appreciative that Dr. Diverio took the time to do this. From my experience with Northwestern Medical Center, I would highly recommend it.

Negative experience: orthopaedics should not make two appts with the same doctor at the same time.i sat in a room for over an hour til anxiety took over.left sicker then when i came and never seen a doctor.when i came in the person said i have an appt with dr so and so at 1.same time as mine.the person that took me to the hospital was right there with me when the other person said that his appt was the same as mine.people with ptsd and bad anxiety should never just be put in a room fot over an hour.second time in the last month and ahalf.when you go to the hospital feeling not to bad and leave in a full blown anxiety attack.second time.if this happens to me,it must happen to plenty of other patients.

Negative experience: Today, I arrived at my appointment at Northwestern Urology for a procedure 15 minutes early to find out my doctor was not in. The receptionist said she tried calling me three times last week to notify me that I would have to reschedule my appointment. She said my voicemail wasn't working but she was able to leave a message today. My voicemail was working just fine. She never left a message to notify me about the cancellation until less than an hour before my scheduled procedure. My procedure was scheduled for 4pm and she called and left a message at 3:06pm. I hadn't had a chance to check the voicemail because I had just taken Valium which was prescribed for me to take an hour before the scheduled procedure. I was busy getting ready for the procedure. I ended up rescheduling. When I arrived home, I rechecked my voicemails and received an appointment reminder on 4/21 confirming the procedure. I also received a voicemail from the receptionist today at 3:06pm notifying me that the doctor wasn't available. We all make mistakes but I do not appreciate the receptionist lying to me about my voicemail not working. Granted she did leave a message but she left it less than an hour before my scheduled procedure. I had just done some uncomfortable grooming to prepare for this procedure. Had the receptionist notified me last week, I wouldn't have gone through all this trouble with grooming, taking valium, purchasing compression shorts, and finding childcare. I work full-time, I have kids, my wife works, my time is very limited. It's for reasons like this many people go to Burlington for their healthcare needs.

Fantastic experience: This is a top notch medical facility from the quality of care provided to the "caring" treatment given by each and every employee.

Fantastic experience: We had a troubled birth of our little girl. Mackenzie's shoulder was stuck and had the umbilical cord wrapped around her neck twice. Dr.Fontains quick response and outstanding staff saved her life. As soon as her heart rate changed she performed an immediate episiotomy, pulled her through the pelvis, and unwrapped her neck in less than 10 seconds. Her speed saved our daughters brain from damage. The staff then went into action. Low blood sugar, fever, not breathing, and erratic heart rate. All I could do is watch in terror as she faded. The team was able to rally and stabilize her in less than an hour. Their knowledge and speed of care gave her the chance she wouldn't have had anywhere else. Thank you again so much, and we will forever be in your debt.
