Bluebonnet Trails Community Services: Reviews
Negative experience: This place is horrible. Doctors don’t send scripts in, and just seem to not care. The biggest problem is the staff in general. Our son was receiving services and his longtime caseworker informed us she was leaving as bluebonnet was asking her to do things that were morally against her believes. After she left everyone disappeared. Shawna used to be great, but she changed after caseworker left. To give families hope, and promises to only fall short every time. We have been with them for over 2 years. Final insult was our son’s new caseworker Jose just completely seemed to forget about our son. Lastly when my wife and I started letting people know how we felt Bluebonnet then tells us they are ending services for our son. You have been warned. STAY AWAY !!! Shawna, and Jose shame on you.
Negative experience: My daughter is incarcerated and these people have been tasked with helping her with her mental health. The “ director” over jail operations is rude and dismissive. If you’re able to pay out of pocket do so. What a joke
Fantastic experience: Great people. Appreciate the service to the community.
Fantastic experience: 5 stars for Miss Kenna!
Fantastic experience: This place has been a Beacon of light, at a very Dark time for me. The people here don’t just work here, They give the best of themselves.❤️
Negative experience: Don’t go here for psychiatric treatment, the person literally smirked while talking about a serious situation. Nice staff tho
Negative experience: I’ve been using them for years. They are ok. The one thing that I hate is that they never answer the phone. You leave a message and no one calls me you back!
Fantastic experience: This place helped two different members in my family makes significant progress in their health journeys. I recommend them because they don’t gouge and the advice and therapy. They’ve given have been exceptional and very helpful.
Fantastic experience: I have met Mrs. Emma Miller this morning and I can say that she is very knowledgeable, compassionate. Strong listener and communication abilities. Mrs. Miller has a genuine desire to help others. Mrs. Miller is a highly skilled and motivated individual who would be a valuable asset to any organization. I offer my strongest possible endorsement with her services without reservation. Highly recommended counselor! KC
Negative experience: Can't even set an appointment at round rock clinic after almost 2 weeks of calling and playing phone tag
Negative experience: We came to this place for a psychological evaluation. That is what we stated when we made our first appointment. Three visits later, still no evaluation, but we did get a misdiagnosis and a push for medication that would actually harm the person taking it. Staff was friendly though, so that is a plus.
Negative experience: Went for a follow up. Waited in the room for the Dr to log in for an hour and she never did. Had to reschedule. Wasted 3 hours of my day for nothing. Now can't even get a refill on my medication.
Negative experience: They don't care about their clients they just care about their income and promotions and they think about themselves before they think about the clients and they don't do anything even if you talk about the bad experience with the management so I had to go to a social worker or talk to my psychiatrist at my doctor's office
Fantastic experience: These people have really helped me. I've been seeing them for a few years I have been to a couple private practices and these people are superior. We are fortunate to have them, not everyone has a resource like this.
Fantastic experience: I Swear I Was Having Trouble Getting Documents to Florida but with the help of Rosa Ruiz and her help they got everything they needed. Ms. Ruiz helped me and I’m forever grateful.. We Need More People Like Her ❤️
Fantastic experience: I have received amazing mental health care and resource support! Sometimes there are hiccups (mt big one was in the beginning) but I am always met with resolutions and treated like a person, not just another "number" to deal with and I appreciate the RR clinic so much!
Negative experience: I was misdiagnosed within 10 minutes of initially meeting with the psychiatrist. Within 20 minutes she was threatening I would develop dementia if I refused to take her recommended medication. Medication for a disorder I do not have, that she boldly diagnosed me with based off of my family history. She made a wildy dangerous assumption, without care of the potential long-term detremintal effects of doing so. She attempted to use fear in order to get a patient to comply with pharmaceutical intervention. These people are not trauma informed. Their practices are outdated. They do not care. Stay away.
Fantastic experience: Great doctors and therapists Kerri Halfant MD. Ambrosia Fuentes (Amby) Therapists. Service is the best !!
Negative experience: So far my experience has been horrible. Years ago i used them and They only offer temporary help for counseling but require regular appointments with the doctor and medicine prescribing doctors. They tryed to push putting my older daughter on meds when I used them for her. She just needed a little bit of help/counseling. The only helpful person was the one who goes to schools/ home check ins but to keep her I had to go to regular appointments at office. Now I am trying to get help for my youngest daughter who has had to used their crisis line 4 times when at school. They recommended inpatient or extensive care everything. This last time they recommended getting in to services with them but you have to do a intake appointments and before that you have to do a financial appointments and they are quick to reschedule you if late or missed the call at all or are missing any documents they request even if you have insurance that will cover services. The intake appointments is separate and might be several hours later or different days. It is all more hassle than helpful from my experience. Even the crisis teams just kind of help you do afind a hospital with an opening which then you have to get there by yourself and sit there while they reavauate you.
Negative experience: Please format your e-mails in a way that is usable and hire qualified staff to do assessments
Negative experience: Used them as a job coach awhile back went through 3 different people they all left and didn’t even stay but maybe a week I went to a company in Austin and got way better service my wife is trying them now to see if they can get here into this program and they have set up video conference calls and have canceled the call 3 times now because they can’t get things done correctly there a joke
Positive experience: Good
Fantastic experience: I have always received excellent service from BlueBonnett. In 2015 I was in a dark place mentally and didn't know where to turn. I called 911 and they directed me to BlueBonnett and I can honestly say that they saved my life. I have bi-polar disorder and manic depression. After 50 years of misery I finally got the help i needed and got on the medication that changed my life. The people there have been wonderful and amazing to me and I can not recommend them enough.
Fantastic experience: They once helped me an they all cared about my well being. Helped me a lot. Thanks to them I have a great job now an can face tomorrow head on.
Fantastic experience: They take very good care of my son, case manager Mindy and social worker Shelby are very nice and helpful, Dr. Halfants is very professional and patient. Really appreciate their helping.
Negative experience: While I have had ok experiences here and it's a good resource for those who do not have the funds for better treatment, I will never recommend bluebonnet. My experience with this place has been very disheartening and even dangerous. I am eagerly awaiting my new job and insurance so I can get away from this place. First off: my psychiatrist was dreadful. The worst bedside manner. I am someone with complex trauma and multiple other issues. This psych was downright rude to me when I hadn't booked an appt for 6 ish months due to depression, anxiety, and other neurodivergent reasons. She would keep bringing up, even in appts after that, how I hadn't booked more appts and how she couldn't help much since she only knew so little about me due to few meetings. It was awful for my mental health and emotions. Not to mention, upon wanting a medicine change, she switched us to a non ssri without informing me of the risks. I ended up suicidal and worse off until my independent THERAPIST told me about withdraw symptoms. Upon wanting to change back this psych gave more feedback on how I was changing my mind again and how there were other options to try. When I told her I was scared of the side effects and what I could tolerate she just shrugged it off and said if I want to try others later I could. She brought me to the point of putting off further appts. Which leads me to my current situation upon posting. I refilled my prescription and got a text about booking another appt and figured I'd do so after my two week training period in another state. When I called to see where my medicine was a week later I was then told I couldn't get a refill till I made an appt. Asked finally for a new psych and was told they'd send in a new referral and get back to me asap. It is now the day before I fly out of state and my LIFE SAVING ANTIDEPRESSANTS are now out and they are closed for the weekends. This also does not address how very little help I received when I was trying to pursue disability. This place has been a nightmare for me and anyone else who is neurodivergent or mentally ill needs to really to take precaution upon entering this place. It necessary and helpful if you have no money but that's about it.
Negative experience: I have a good friend of over 30 years sitting g in jail for 7 months waiting on placement then dropped. Not helping is wrong.
Negative experience: Went to a clinic today and the doctor gave me this crisis hotline to call. I thought it meant if you are experiencing severe distress you can have a counselor talk you through it, but they needed me to define whether or not I was going to hurt myself or others. Did I have the urge to hurt myself, I certainly did. Was I going to? I don't know. He asked me a question, cut me off in the middle of it, and started reciting some script about therapy even though I had already told him the doctor was putting in a referral to a therapist. I called because i was in the middle of a depressive episode and i needed someone; i did not need him to tell me how to manage my depression. What a passive aggressive way to get me off the phone. I called back later to speak to a different counselor. I told her I just needed someone to sit with me a minute. She bombarded me with questions about what I needed, why I was calling, go watch a funny show, go take a shower, should I call the police she asked, to which I replied, ma'am what are my options? I asked if there were other people waiting? She said no then asked what I needed from her. "To sit with me a minute," I repeated. I told her that she seemed like she really didn't care. She said that that was not true but essentially asked if there was anything else she could do and then I let her go. It was such a confusing experience. It could've just been me, but I feel like people need to know. If I hadn't seen these 1-star reviews, I would've felt pretty bad about that interaction.
Negative experience: Therapist straight up lied about something I said, which landed me in mental hospital. No recourse I can take. It's going to be somewhere in my medical files. Abuse of power.
Fantastic experience: My experience with Blubonnet Trails for my son with autism has been over the top wonderful. Everyone who has worked with us is more than we could ask for. I could cry because I never thought I would be able to afford all these services for my son but through them I have been able to have his needs met. Having these therapies so early in his life have already helped him so much, and I know his life has forever been improved by this wonderful team.
Negative experience: My name is Aaron Banks, I've been with Bb since 3rd grade and in now 20 years old with the same issues but worse now. They have been no help. I would not recommend this company to ANYBODY. STAY THE HECK AWAY. PLEASE. THERE BETTER PLACES AROUND. ROCK SPRINGS. DO NOT COME HERE. DOCS DONT REALLY CARE, GIVE U BASIC MEDS, AND SAY GOOD LUCK. THANKS
Fantastic experience: I went with my daughter there for therapy, I believe if she would have continued to attend there she would have a steady job and her own apartment.
Negative experience: There was a suicide in the family last night and I was concerned that the brother of the victim was going to follow suite. I wanted the brother to get some crisis counseling. I call the 24/7 hotline and they said to call the local office. I called them and they gave me a website to pick a counselor. What a useless organization. I hope they don't have blood on their hands.
Negative experience: Absolutely the worst experience I've had trying to get help. Nobody wants to take ownership, they just transfer you to someone else to deal with the problem. This leads to nothing ever getting done. Specifically McKayla (spelling?) and Dr. Sorenso are extremely unprofessional. I understand you get what you pay for in this life, but it seems like these people aren't even trying. This is now the fifth week since I've contacted them and all I got was a rushed doctors appointment where he told me he couldn't do anything until a mental health professional is in the picture. That was two weeks ago and they just stopped calling me back about it last week.
Fantastic experience: Ignore the bad reviews, I wouldn't be alive if it wasn't for Bluebonnet Trails, what they offer for the cost is absolutely life saving. I've been so pleased with everyone I've worked with. If you haven't sought out help and you need it, please reach out to them.
Negative experience: spent 20 minutes being transferred to different groups only to be told that they can't help. Getting help for mental health should not be this difficult.
Negative experience: This place is horrible. They know what mental illness is and still fail to help people out. I have been waiting two weeks for a returned phone call and still nothing. I have left 3 voicemails the last two weeks and no phone call. I have called 4 times today and only to be transferred to another voicemail. They have not been taking appointments only vis zoom and they are still working. But no one answer the phone. I have 3 pills left and still have not received my prescription refill. FYI THIS Isn’t the first time I have gone through this with them.
Negative experience: Most un organized place ever . Staff is nice but that doesn’t cut it . Been sitting here for an hour waiting on a trail size prescription . Literally called 15 minutes before coming . Still waiting for a simple hand off of prescriptions .
Fantastic experience: Praise This institution, the helpers and the services they provide are worthy. Public funding for this entity is deserved.
Negative experience: dear god please avoid talking to Dr. O' Connor about anything other than medication, please. he is a terrible person to interact with, especially if you are emotionally vunerable.
Negative experience: Called last week with issues in my life thinking they could or would help me. Was put off 2 different times never received a call to get me into program. If your not suicidal at that moment they don't want to help you I guess.
Negative experience: Bad experience bad management
Negative experience: The staff here take no pride in their jobs at all or have no remorse for the poor quality of customer service they provide. The intake staff do their best to discourage you from coming in or even calling back borderline being straight up rude quickly rushing you off the phone. They are not interested in answer questions or even giving quality information about the services they provide. I have never felt so dismissed. Completely unprofessional.
Negative experience: I understand that this is a government funded organization, and that funding for mental health services is low quality. But that is NO EXCUSE for how poorly organized, unprofessional and slow they are! I am not only speaking of the Round Rock location, but the Cedar Park location also! If I could give them a 0 I would. So I made an appointment for intake at the Cedar Park location, had it all set, and showed up early like I was supposed to. When I got to the place, they had scheduled me for the WRONG TYPE OF APPOINTMENT (30 min instead of an hour) so they had to reschedule me! But they couldn't see more for over a month. So I called Georgetown and got the appointment and went to do intake there. Well NOW I am out of medication, and am getting the run around on getting a refill, because I have to get AUTHORIZATION for it?! And I have been given multiple numbers, and different answers. And when I called the actual prescription refill line, they go straight to voicemail. They don't have anyone actually there to answer the phone, but they "listen to the voicemails every hour." This is insane!!! I used to be a patient with Integral Care and NEVER had issues like this with them! This is very frustrating and unprofessional!!
Negative experience: Very poor customer service!
Fantastic experience: I love it here been going for years
Negative experience: Normally fine but they double booked me and this girl together somehow. I now have to stay an extra hour!!
Negative experience: Very bad .... TAKES VERY LONG TO GET A APPOINTMENT & takes very long to get back ! VERY HORRIBLE PLACE
Negative experience: Mental healthcare on a budget. There is no consistency here. It’s a stepping stone for a better job, so don’t get too attached to your counselor or case manager. Ive been three case mangers in the last year. The most recent one canceled, said she would reschedule but never did. Now it’s been a month. They only offer counseling a limited time. If you have another option, take it.
Negative experience: Had my appointment moved after setting it up over a month in advance. I took off work and I got to the facility 10 minutes early and after waiting for over an hr after check in, I got up and left. The folks were not rude but these guys need a serious lesson in time management skills. I may as well be at the ER with wait times like this.
Negative experience: Very unprofessional. Very confuse staff no one knows what they are suppose to be doing.
Positive experience: My 2 year old son sees an ECI worker, a speech therapist, and a physical therapist in our home about 6 times a month. They are a great help. I love Stephanie the PT. She is kind and very encouraging. My son has made great strides. The OT has been dragging her feet in getting started, and sometimes ECI, shows up late. But, my overall experience is good.
Negative experience: Why does it take an hour to request a refill?
Negative experience: So far all I received from them was multiple intake appointments and a random voicemail that my appointment needed to be pushed back over 2 weeks without explanation. I spent over a week just trying to get the appointment and literally 18 hours before I’m supposed to show up they let the pulled this stunt. Just pay for professional help out of subsidized care. It’s worth the money.
Negative experience: Horrible!! I have a son on the spectrum and was told that is were I need to go. We had to pull him out of school and wasn’t even seen after over an hour wait. He was finally seen the next week, but after that we never heard back. Calling the office is pointless, so I have to stop by each time to get a follow up, and every time I do, they need more information. I submitted requested info via email and received no response for over 3 weeks, and had to stop by the office to get an answer, and when I finally did, whatever I had provided wasn’t enough. I am wondering how these people actually SUPPORT families with children with special needs, because they actually STRESS ME more than they SUPPORT me.
Negative experience: I came to Bluebonnet because I had recently lost my job and needed assistance. I showed them proof that I was unemployment but they said since I have insurance I didn't qualify for assistance. My insurance is with the Healthcare Marketplace and is very expensive. I had to talk to a manager to explain my situation and we worked out a payment plan. The staff is horrible most of the time. Once they forgot to check me in and me and the counselor waiting for 30 minutes. My final straw with them is when they cancelled the appointment on me and couldn't get me back in for a month! I told them I wasn't feeling well but it didnt matter. They take no responsibility for anyone's health. You're just told to wait a month or go up there and wait around all day if someone no shows.
Negative experience: I've never had a worse experience trying to schedule an appointment with a provider. I spoke with four different people, and most of them didn't seem to know anything about their own services.
Negative experience: DR. o'conner is mean.
Positive experience: I've been with bluebonnet for... I think 5 years, so I could get super detailed but it's not really as bad as everyone is making it seem. The doctors are doctors, if you like to ask a lot of questions, certain ones are better than others, but I just wanna go in, get my meds refilled, make sure I'm not falling apart, and go. The social workers mean well but are inconsistent and always changing (I've had at least 8 different ones over the years). I can say I've liked almost every social worker I've been assigned to, I think they're some of the only people at bluebonnet who really care about helping people with mental illnesses. The staff.. Either hate their lives or us, idk they're just not very friendly. Prescriptions aren't too bad, I rarely wait more than 30 minutes for a refill and even without insurance I only pay $7 (when my coverage ended, my old pharmacy tried to charge me over $50, and I was on a lower dosage back then). I could get into a few specifically bad experiences, but over 5 years there's bound to be some not-so-great visits.. I guess what I'm getting at is, Bluebonnet Trails is alright. Not good, not bad, just alright. If you can't afford somewhere better, this place gets the job done.
Negative experience: I have a family member who's been a patient for about five years at the Bastrop location. After the first year they added another diagnosis to his records. They NEVER told anyone in the family, OR offered ANY type of actual therapy or treatment for any of his conditions!!!! Unbelievable!!! They push paper and pills, but don't DO anything else. I wouldn't recommend taking anyone you care about to them.
Positive experience: I called the Round Rock location and a woman by the name Jade answered the phone, one of the Rudest people I have ever spoke to. All I was trying to do was get a contact name and phone number for a friend who's brother has down syndrome and needs some place for him to go during the day. The girl would only repeat over and over again, "the person that is his legal guardian needs to call in" . Ok, what number do they call?? and she would again repeat about the guardian. Finally I yelled and said No kidding idiot, but what number??? Duh.
Negative experience: They may be fantastic with patients, but I'll never know: When I had to reschedule the initial appointment they never answered the phone and they never returned my messages. Seven calls to the office, not once did I get to talk to a human being, just voicemail. Five messages left, three on the same day as the appointment I had to change, no call back. Ever. Tried the intake line listed on the website through which I'd scheduled the initial appointment and they just forward you to the exact same voicemail that won't ever call you back. Very frustrating and completely pointless. They get one star back because the intake guy was very good and very personable and tried to help, but when the everybody else drops the ball then his efforts are worthless.
Negative experience: Don't go was physically assaulted by another patient
Fantastic experience: Absolutely a great place very compassionate Drs well at least mine is anyway and I absolutely love my case manager
Negative experience: 1 1/2 hours late for scheduled time, this after I arrived 45 min early to do paperwork . Staff seemed nice, just slow/busy
Negative experience: The doctor was overall ok, however the staff is miserable. If you try to call they will either not answer (I once had to call over a dozen times without response, left voicemails, etc.) even when the messages I left indicated the urgency of an empty prescription (so if you have any time sensitive prescriptions do not try and use this office). They do as much as possible to get you to go away, or hang up, forcing you to be borderline mean to get any results. Not a good experience for anyone who needs real treatment without the hassles. It being a mental health clinic makes it especially ironic that they put their patients through so much stress just to simply speak with their healthcare professional.
Negative experience: My experience transcended that of a day with doctor. I was appauled that Mr. Frankie Coaches was not allowed to bring his lumber into the building. Also, the Editor of the Republic of China was there recruiting for his new role in Red China.
Negative experience: The whole experience was a mess and a nightmare. Extremely disorganized and unprofessional. Will never return with my business for as long as I live. With all the other options around in Round Rock and the Austin area, if Bluebonnet Trails wasn't government funded, it would've been out of business a long time ago.
Positive experience: The staff here are for the most part dedicated to helping their clients. They have a hard job and they do the best they can with limited resources. The state starves them of the funding they need to provide necessary services to the large and growing population of people with mental illness and behavioral health issues.
