Middle Tennessee Women's Health Group: Reviews
Fantastic experience: Megan is AMAZING!!!! She LISTENS
Fantastic experience: Belinda was extremely helpful and very kind during our visit. She was very patient when we had a lot of questions. Would definitely recommend her and this office!
Fantastic experience: Belinda Isley is wonderful! She definitely cares about her patients and their health and truly want to help them feel better. Every visit is such a breeze here. Very welcoming and helpful staff as well.
Negative experience: I just walked in to book an appointment for my pregnancy and I want to clarify before it was one person who was being really rude, the rest of the staff seemed very friendly. I was next in line and when I walked up the woman at the counter available was incredibly rude. She already refused to look at me and saw me standing there looking confused on if I should step forward or not because she was literally faced away from me laughing at my confusion and looking at another lady while doing so who was working there. Then she said in the most condescending tone "go ahead" and so I stepped forward and told her I was pregnant so I was trying to set up an obgyn appointment and she said in the most condescending tone "just call this number on the card" while loudly smacking her gum and looking at me with a dirty look. Not coming back here, I don't want to feel uncomfortable setting up an appointment for my pregnancy.
Thank you for this feedback. We’re sorry to see this and will share it with our team in the clinic. If you'd like to discuss this further, please call our Patient Relations team at 615-322-6154, M-F 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. They can talk with you privately about your concerns.
Negative experience: Went here about a year ago for infertility and I was never even allowed to see a doctor, only a nurse. They ran blood tests and told me there was nothing anyone could do and to go to Nashville to get IVF. I went to a different doctor recently who said this place didn't even do the blood tests they needed to do, and there were many other tests and options. Got an ultrasound, more blood work, and an HSG and was put on a medication immediately. I got pregnant naturally after the first dose. Don't go here unless you want to be dismissed and mislead about your treatment options out of pure laziness. Pick another doctor.
Negative experience: Needed my hormone patch prescribed while home sick with Covid and they refused to return my call or call it in. I had to contact another Doc to get it called in. I still don't know why they wouldn't help me since I've gone to them for so many years. They just lost a loyal patient.
Hi Robin, I'm so sorry to hear about your experience. Have you shared this with our Patient Relations team? Their role is to help with communication and try to resolve concerns. They can be reached at (615) 322-8008, M-F, 8a-5p. Again, I'm very sorry to hear about your experience.
Negative experience: The staff at this facility are very RUDE would completely ignore me and talk to my fiance. They also have a inability to comunicate and dont mind blameing you for it. We where unable to see the doctor for a month and a half do to this. We where called once over that period and dont have signal where we live. They also will tell you when you contact them back that they will call you with in 48hrs instead of allowing you to set up a appointment. The only thing that was good there was Dr Kurts very professional and informative. Sadly we will not be going with him do to his staff.
Fantastic experience: I loved this place! I too, had Carrie Marchman, and was considered high risk during pregnancy due to blood pressure issues. She watched me like a hawk and was very involved, as well as other doctors that had to fill in and nurses! They cared! They were all wonderful! Even the receptionists! I recommend this wonderful group of ladies to all of my friends. They all loved them!
Thank you so much for trusting us with your care, Julia!
Negative experience: I wouldn’t take a dog or cat to this place need I say more. They are not nice to people at all they are so rude.
Negative experience: Horrible! Waited over 2 hours (again) for absolutely nothing! I am in my second trimester have yet to even get a real ultrasound. Doctor is super nice but that's about the only positive this place is a hot mess. Transferring doctors asap.
Negative experience: Worst experience for my wife. Always go to 100 oaks. Its worth the drive.Only took one visit to figure him out. Dr kurtz does not care. May act like it but when something is wrong he just says we will see at your next appt..
Fantastic experience: Been going here for 24 years, they are the best !
Negative experience: This place was great when I was pregnant with my first baby. However, they merged with Vanderbilt just as I started seeing them for our second baby. Now, the wait times are ridiculous! I spend at least three hours there at every visit. Most recently, I was running twenty minutes late due to traffic and, after checking in, was asked to reschedule! They could’ve called me and told me I was too late instead waiting for me to get there! I’ve seen people arrive over half an hour late and STILL be seen for their appointment time. I wish they had never merged with Vanderbilt! If I wasn’t 20 weeks along and didn’t love my doctor, Dr. Phillips, I would’ve already gone elsewhere! I regret not changing providers for this pregnancy. Unless you like spending half of your day in a doctor’s office, I would recommend seeking prenatal care elsewhere.
Fantastic experience: Location is very easy to get to, has large area for parking, offers wireless internet. The wait time on an appointment was fairly quick, the staff was eager to assist with all aspects of the first appointment paperwork. We are expecting our first child and Dr. Marchman's nurses and techs were all considerate and understanding to all of our questions. The entire process was pleasant and would recommend anyone to this office and to Dr. Marchman
Negative experience: They were very polite and the doctors were great, but the lobby wait times were always outrageous (we arrived 10 minutes early and were called back 45 minutes late regularly), their scheduling was stupid (ultrasound before lunch, leave for an hour while the staff goes to lunch, then come back for the actual doctor visit), and their billing was very hard to work with (wouldn't work with our insurance they way it was supposed to). Perhaps we always got the bad days, but not a great experience.
Negative experience: Slow response to phone calls, no emergency drs on call for weekends, care is dismal at best. They charge for medically necessary forms. I could go on & on but I am sitting in their waiting room 1 week post op from an abdominal hysterectomy & they still have no time for me.
Negative experience: If I could give negative stars I would. Absolutely the worst clinic I have dealt with. This is my first pregnancy, and I just found out 3 days ago I am 33 weeks along. (Long story) So like any mother I am of course worried about how the baby is especially being this far along with no check up. So I called yesterday after Lewisburg hospital recommended them. I called at 8 as soon as they opened and as soon as they answered the phone they said "hello, hang on a minute" so after waiting that minute that turned into 10 I was finally put on the phone with someone, I told her how urgent this was and I was seeing if they would see me as soon as possible. I was told she would call me back in 10 minutes and let me know. I waited that ten minutes then waited another hour and a half then callled back. Yet again, I was put on hold. Finally I got on the phone with someone and asked if they could get me in. They said the nurse didnt give them a answer but they would call back. At this point I'm frustrated but held onto my patience. So about 6 hours later I called back. As soon as they answered they said " hold please" I was on the phone for 40 minutes. My hormones are shot at this point and I'm to the point of crying because I just need a answer so I know if i need to find a different obgyn. Finally after a little over 40 minutes I asked if they had a answer for me yet. I was put on hold for another 20 minutes just for them to tell me they wouldnt see me. Every lady I talked to that day was extremely rude and even if they would see me I would have found a different one. If the receptionist are that mean and rude I wouldnt want to see what the staff are like. They were not at all understanding and it was honestly the worst experiance I have had. If your considering this place I would definitely reconsider. I just can't begin to explain how rude they were.
Negative experience: This is long, but may help you decide if you want to go here. My mother has seen two of the doctors at this office. She's generally a pretty tough cookie but came home after the first visit saying she had never had a such a rough pelvic exam. This woman is 60 years old and this was definitely not her first pelvic exam. (She also had a transvaginal ultra sound. The technician was very nice and very gentle.) Yesterday, after her appointment she came home sobbing. She has a huge fear of cancer because her mother and some other family members have died of cancer. The doctor she saw was cold as ice and was in and out so fast Mom didn't have time to even ask questions. Based on her symptoms and the doctor's lack of bedside manner she was convinced she had cancer. Mountains out of mole hills? Probably.. But if the doctor had been more cordial and explained more she may not have built those mountains. These doctors may be wonderful and nurturing for young pregnant women, but don't seem to care much about older ladies suffering from post-child bearing residuals. So beware.
Negative experience: I had to call three times to get an appointment and the receptionist were rude!!!
Fantastic experience: Love dr Marchman so giving 5 for her!!! .billing dept is quiet rude and my bills never match insurance EOB so I have to call each time ..and lab is not very friendly if u need things sent anywhere except labcorp
Fantastic experience: I love Middle Tennessee Woman's Health Group!! I have been a GYN patient for 15+ years and also an OB patient!! Both types of care were excellent and I have nothing but good things to say about them. Dr. Karen Davis is an amazing doctor and we love her. The office is a very comfortable place to go with everyone being pleasant and helpful!! I would highly recommend this office for both GYN care and OB care!
Fantastic experience: I absolutely love MTWHG!! Dr. Marchman just delivered my second child in May and I can't say enough good things about her. Don't plan a quick in-and-out, but that's a good thing...they take their time with each patient and deliver excellent care. I highly recommend Dr. Marchman (she's amazing!) and Middle Tennessee Women's Health Group.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Whitten delivered 2 of my boys and was wonderful! The office staff is great and always willing to help.
Thanks for the kind words, Tammy! Give us a call anytime we can help!
Negative experience: Unfortunately, I did not feel at home at this clinic at all. I felt like a sheep just being herded through their system. I seemed to have to jump through hoops before I even saw an OB. When I asked questions, I got the feeling that I was somehow putting them out. When I mentioned I was considering a birthing center, I was told, "You need to figure that out before you see the OB." No warm and fuzzies from this clinic. I get it, they see pregnant women all day, every day, but they've seem to have lost that personal touch... Went for my initial appointment and cancelled all the rest.
Fantastic experience: I've been a patient of this office since I was 16 years old. Before pregnancy, during pregnancy and after. I've been worked in the day of with no problem. They are always there for me. I couldn't imagine going anywhere else.
Glad we could be there for you all of those times, Danielle! Give us a call anytime you need us.
Positive experience: The only reason I continue to go here is because of Dr. Whitten and her staff. This is my second pregnancy with her. Dr. Whitten is amazing and very caring. However, the front desk staff are not friendly. The ultrasound tech I had a few weeks ago was rude and hateful from the moment she called me back. She made my first ultrasound a terrible experience.
Hi LeShae, thanks for the feedback and for speaking with us on the phone earlier. Dr. Whitten has been made aware of this. We want your office visits and ultrasounds to be the best experiences possible!
Negative experience: I will give credit because they are on time with your appointment. I would never suggest this place to any one of my friends as a go to GYN doctor facility. I have been treated better at county health long ago when I had to go without insurance. This place runs you thru, like you are cattle. I have a long extensive history, and relocated to Columbia, found this place hoping they could continue my care. They don't care! I was brought to the back by a tech, told to take off my clothes, had the doctor come in, ask very minimal questions, so I told her many things that she dismissed. I got the standard, yes, um, ok. The end, she tells me, "If there is a problem with the Pap smear you will hear from our office within 2 weeks" If it's ok, then you will receive a letter in the mail. This was the most impersonal GYN visit I have ever had! I will never be back.
Hi Elizabeth, thanks for leaving your feedback. We value it, and we're reaching out to you shortly! We want each patient to feel like they're cared about, along with receiving great healthcare.
Fantastic experience: I was so pleased with my experience here! I had Dr. Taggart and loved how she answered every question I had and didn’t rush through appointments or anything. I don’t recall ever having a negative experience at any of my appointments. My average wait time for my scheduled appointments was about 20 minutes. I live 45 minutes away but would still go to this doctor and hospital if I have another child :)
So glad we could be a part of your experience, Steph! Give us a call anytime!
Negative experience: I would not recommend going here. I had an extremely long wait at each visit, and I felt as if I was just a number. Pregnancy should be a great experience! Don't ruin it by wasting your time at the Women's Health Group.
Hi Hanna, we're sorry to hear about your wait, and we certainly want each pregnancy to be a special experience! Email us at [email protected] if we can do anything else for you.
Positive experience: Maury Regional Hospital Labor and Delivery will bill insurance. Contact your insurance about your co pay/ deductible before your 1st appointment and before you get bullied into a pre-services payment agreement. I paid my maternity co pay to Middle TN Woman's health group and THEN was sent a bill for my maternity deductible from the hospital. They applied my $200 per month payment to a previous balance. Basically, I paid $200 every month while pregnant then had to pay the hospital $1800 while out of work on maternity leave. Billing office gets a 0 star. Beware!!! I felt very undermined & the process was completely dishonest. Blue cross advised me the hospital will always bill first so that is who will collect the deductible. The doctors, nurses and are very pleasant. Overall, I was pleased with everyone except the billing office.
Negative experience: This place is just awful. Between sitting in the waiting room for hours and hours every visit, to NEVER being able to get through on the phone, and once you finally do after holding for 45 minutes they are hateful and rude and rush you, It has to be the WORST place I've ever had to go. If I wasn't so close to being due and i felt like dealing with the hassle of swapping Dr's I would. I would not recommend anyone go here and deal with the bullcrap they dish out.
Hi Shawna,
We're glad we got to talk to you about this at your latest visit. If you have any more concerns, give us a call at 931-381-3030. Looking forward to taking care of you!
Negative experience: The Nurse Practitioners have been great over the years but I was very specific about scheduling a follow up appointment where I had to see one of the Doctors. I went to the appointment and was told and hour and a half into it, "Oh Dr Taggert doesn't even work on Friday and all the other Doctors are gone for the day." I voiced my frustrations to the scheduling staff and didn't get even the slightest attempt at a "We're sorry. It was a mistake". Thanks for wasting my time for the last time. The front office staff need an attitude adjustment because their poor attitude is evident just looking at them let alone speaking to any of them.
Fantastic experience: Natalie gave me my mammogram and she was excellent. She made me feel so at ease and I just want her to know how important she is and how much I appreciated her taking the extra time to make me feel comfortable.
Negative experience: Will never recommend this place to anyone, always waiting on the phone, went there and when I was waiting for papers to get sent to a cardiologist because a RN heard my irregular heart beat the billing lady said "she's only 16!? And she's married!?" The lady that checked out looked annoyed at her and looked sorry for me that I heard it. Then not to mention Dr.Marchman told me when I was having contractions at 23 weeks pregnant she wasn't going to do anything to stop my son from coming and if he did come she wasn't going to try to help him survive. They always rushed. When I was changing OB's the receptionist were hateful because I wasn't going to pay for my files for the crap they put me through. Never will I ever step foot on their place. Not a single person in there was sincere or caring.
Negative experience: This is my first pregnant at 19 years old and this office has been absolutely terrible to me. I'm a high risk pregnancy and they don't seem to care at all. I really like my doctor there, but all the secretaries are hateful. I called them one morning bleeding and having terrible kidney pain and asked if I needed to come in or go to a hospital and they told me they would have my doctor call back, waited over 2 hours and called again and the secretary got extremely rude with me and told me that there are other patients and I need to just wait.. I waited for 5 hours for them to call me before I just went to the ER. They do not care about their patients at all.
Carissa, we are sorry to hear that you felt mistreated, especially during a stressful time in your pregnancy. We want to make your experience better going forward. Please call us at 931-381-3030 and ask to speak with Lori, and she'll be able to assist you with your concerns.
Fantastic experience: Dr Whitten was the Dr on call and my Dr was out of town. She was amazing. She was such a great coach when it was time to push. Dr Taggert was really great for office visits, but like I said was out of town which is understandable. Next baby I plan to go to Dr Whitten. The staff are great here. My nurse was awesome too. I actually had my baby 6 weeks early. I didn't think it was amniotic fluid leaking but my nurse was concerned and had me come in to check it out. Wonderful call. No telling what bad shape we would be in if it wasn't for this wonderful Dr office! Thanks so much
Fantastic experience: Love the staff! There is a bit of a wait but is completely worth it when you get such high quality service!
Positive experience: I trust Middle Tennessee Women's Health group. Dr. Phillips is an amazing doctor! She answered all my questions and made me feel comfortable with my first pregnancy. I'am now pregnant with my second and even though i had some issues with a mid-wife. The staff and Dr. Phillips still made me feel at ease.
Fantastic experience: Absolutely happy with this group. My doc, Dr. Taggart is amazing as well as the nurses and office staff......even though the place is super busy. That alone let's me know the practice is good.....everyone goes there. I left another doc, dr. Pelletier due to nasty nurses and this place was 100% better. All my questions and concerns were answered. The lady that does the ultrasounds was also very sweet and knowledgeable.
Negative experience: As a first time parent, at age 19, in my experience, I ended up waiting 45 minutes to an hour for a scheduled appointment. Even longer because they asked me to arrive 15 to 20 Minutes early. When I was in great pain and ca me in, I waited 3 hours to see someone while I was going outside continuously to vomit. I expressed great discomfort for anything the gynecologist exams and concern due to previous experiences, and they didn't care. During my entire pregnancy I barely seen my doctor for an hour of all the combined times she had spoken with me. And I felt like I had no knowledge of what was going on with my child. The only reason I didn't change obgyn is because no one was accepting new patients . I will never com back here after my child is born
We're sorry to hear that, Britanni. Can you call our office to tell us a little more about your situation? We want your first pregnancy experience to be the best possible. 931-381-3030.
Fantastic experience: I absolutely love this group! They're so fantastic and amazing and understanding and are able to work with people as well. I know that Their help all OVER the place, billing, the front desk, even the nurses and doctors are a fantastic group of people that I would never think about swapping from.
