Negative experience: I have been a patient of CIH for years. I loved it! After my last provider left, I decided it was time for me to also look elsewhere. I had held out for a while, but between the ongoing instability, constant pricing changes, and the decision to no longer take insurance, I had to leave. I had not intended to write a review (there are enough here that I think represent why you should look elsewhere), but then I just received an email about retroactive billing, and now I can no longer be silent. They are now retroactively collecting payments for the past 5 years, if they could not collect from insurance. THAT IS DIABOLICAL. They note that the billing center they previously worked with was not doing their job, and they have a 5-year window to collect. I understand, but how is that our fault as patients? It is not. People could owe thousands of dollars, depending on the services received. I am angry, disheartened, and just so disappointed. If you cannot manage your business effectively, that is on you. Not the patient. STAY AWAY. STAY AWAY. STAY AWAY. Dear Patients, We appreciate your continued use of our services. Over the past six months, we have implemented several changes, one of which includes bringing our billing process in-house. As a result, you may notice multiple invoices from prior years appearing in your portal. We are actively working to update all accounts with outstanding balances related to deductibles, co-insurance, or non-covered services from previous years, as we have a five-year window for collections. Should you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me at our number below, or directly [removed] I am here to assist you, and together we can identify a solution that meets everyone’s needs. Your feedback is important, and I look forward to working with you to address these balances."

Positive experience: So far I am enjoying my experience at this clinic. Jesse with IV ozone therapy is supper caring and communicated with Dr Wong and nutritionist, my recent new concerns about my health to keep them informed before my next appt with them. I appreciated that and shows how they are working as a team. Araceli the nutritionist is also very kind and I felt she listened to my concerns and provided recommendations based of my symptoms and labs. I have also used the portal to submit requests for documentation I need signed of by Dr. Wong, and so far I get a timely response, along with what I am requesting. I’ve only been a patient here a few months with this clinic, but if all continues to go as I am experiencing so far, I will bump up to five stars ⭐️

Negative experience: I'd be very cautious before pursuing care at this practice. Everyone was perfectly nice, but after cross referencing the protocol this practice had me on with other medical professionals, I learned it was irresponsible at best, detrimental to my health at worst. W/o divulging personal information, my provider at this practice had me on a protocol that amounted to 49 vitamins/supplements *a day*. I learned later that 1). most of them were not recommended in the doses I was recommended, or in the combination I was recommended; 2). the reasons behind recommending some of them were barely supported by data/research; and 3). there was a good chance I was making my health worse, not better. I started seeing this practice in Aug24, and within a month of being on their protocol my health issues exacerbated significantly. I developed new issues I didn't have before this cocktail of 49 daily supplements. It was disappointing to reach out to my provider and be told things can "take some time to even out" after four months of deterioration. It wasn't until being advised to stop cold turkey by another medical professional that all of my symptoms disappeared, and my health was back to normal within a week. I spent over $1,000 on the supplements recommended to me, in addition to the out of pocket cost of appointments and testing (about another $1,000), only to end up with health issues I didn't have previously, which stopped the minute I stopped the CIH protocol. If you do choose to pursue care here, strongly recommend getting a second opinion on whatever protocol they recommend you. One final nitpick: their administrative process is a nightmare. They expect you to fill out repetitive questionnaires before each visit that take on average 45 minutes to complete. Was never clear on what the purpose was given that the entire point of the (expensive) follow up appointments was to gauge progress.

Fantastic experience: I had my first appointment with CIH on 1/09/25 and am extremely impressed with the practice and Dr. Wong. I recently received health information that requires a functional medicine approach and I am confident that Dr. Wong will help me obtain optimal health to overcome potential symptoms.

Negative experience: I have been with CIH since 2015. In nine years, I have had nine different medical providers, as one after the other leaves the practice. There is no continuity of care. No one knows me. In nine years, I have seen CIH and its founder, Dr. Andrew Wong, focus on growing his business and making money by adding all sorts of different memberships and packages and frills. But what is needed is consistent, reliable medical care from the same provider for each patient from year to year. I'm hugely disappointed in CIH and will be leaving the practice. It's a beautiful space, very calming and aesthetically pleasing, but if you go here for care, be warned that you will have a new medical provider every year and you will not be able to establish a continuous doctor-patient relationship. I'm all for giving a new business a second chance, but 9 chances?

Negative experience: They never mentioned the membership fee in phone calls, in person, or anywhere else until I brought it up—only the co-pay. I only found out about it by reading reviews. This important information should be disclosed publicly and be easily accessible. The practitioner I was assigned to was a resident who didn’t seem knowledgeable about my complex health issues. I left after the second visit because I didn’t trust them, and I didn’t feel confident being in their care due to their lack of transparency.

Fantastic experience: EJ is amazing, I'm so glad we're working together on my health! (and what a refreshing phrase that is!) I feel care, respect, and kindness in every appointment and interaction with CIH staff. I am so grateful for this resource and hope that it becomes the standard of care throughout the US and the world. I have seen significant improvement in my debilitating symptoms since starting with CIH. I consider it an active partnership where I have to speak up when I feel an intervention is not going to mesh well with the things only I know about my own body. And I also have moved toward a place of greater trust in my care provider, because she is honest and open with me. previous review: Due to an odd assortment of chronic illness symptoms and PTSD, getting my health taken seriously is extremely important to me. I've had some excellent experiences at CIH so far and am looking forward to more. I'm very grateful for the help (and hope) I've received. Thank you.

Positive experience: I have been a patient of this practice for 3 1/2 years. I think the practitioners there are educated, informed, and truly want to help people. They are caring and take the time to listen and advise you. The weakest link for the practice is the front desk and administrative office. About 5 months after I became a patient, I tried to sign my 11 y.o. son up at the practice because he had eczema, despite dietary changes we had made at home. I registered him online and waited 2 weeks for the link to fill out his paperwork, but the link never came. When I called the office, Erin (who I think does not work there anymore) told me that she was going through the registrations and would send me a ink soon. To me, this is not good customer service, especially after I had explained that I registered my son 2 weeks ago, but I waited patiently, nonetheless. After another week passed by and still no response, I asked in person the next time during my appointment. Erin could not find my son's registration, so I used my phone while in the office to register my son again. This time, she was able to confirm receipt and sent me a link to finish my son's registration. This experience was annoying. I noticed that sometime after this, more people were brought to work at the front desk and customer service did seem to improve somewhat until about 2 months ago. After my last appointment with Dr. Wong in September 2020, I was told to schedule my follow up in December. On October 13th I called and left a message on voice mail. My call was not returned, and on Oct. 17th, I sent an email with the subject "Second request for appointment" to the general inbox. As I am a teacher and very busy, I did not realize that nobody had responded to my inquiries until the end of October, so I called the front desk again. This time, somebody did answer the phone and I was able to schedule an appointment with Dr. Wong, but because Dr. Wong books out so far in advance, the earliest available was not Jan. 11th. Needless to say, this last experience was very frustrating. I realize that the practice is very busy and they do spend extra time, listening to patients, which I feel, is very important. However, it is tricky for super busy people like me to have to follow up and take responsibility for calling again and again to schedule appointments. I teach during office hours and cannot always make phone calls. I would also expect that emails should be returned, as well. I do have to say that they now have a person who deals with insurance matters and that has been extremely helpful, so that is real plus for this practice, as I have had some EOBs that needed further attention. Overall, I give this practice 4 stars because of the weakest link in front desk/administrative matters/ customer service. Update: 7/25/24: My comments about this office remain unchanged. I still give it a 4/5. The office still has great practitioners, but the weakest link is the office management. The practice uses a portal and you are supposed to communicate with the practitioners via the portal. Well....if someone initiates the communication first and you respond, there is no problem. However, if you initiate the communication, there is usually no response. I sent a message TWO times asking for my appointment to be rescheduled and I received no response. Finally, I called and reached someone and was able to reschedule, but by then my practitioner was WAY booked out. This week, I sent a message with a question about a follow up to my mammogram. The automatic reply states that they will respond in 2 business days. Today makes the third business day and I have received no response. I will probably have to phone the office. It's just annoying. If they cannot reply to clients via the portal, then they should not offer it as an option.

Fantastic experience: I have been working with CIH for over 2 years now, and being a patient at the practice has truly changed my life. Unfortunately, they are no longer in-network with my insurance, so I will be seeking care elsewhere. All of the practitioners are very attentive and dedicated to their patients. Moli has been my NP for the last 10 months and she has provided me with exceptional medical care and been amazing! I have felt very cared for under her guidance.

Fantastic experience: I have always wanted to see a functional medicine doctor but have not done it until recently when I found Capital Integrative Health and Dr. Wong. Dr. Wong met all my expectations and then some. I have followed all his recommendations and definitely feel better!! I highly recommend Dr. Wong to anyone looking for an integrative medicine doctor who treats the whole body, mind, and spirit.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Jullian Casey is quite knowledgeable about my unique condition which is particularly impressive. I truly appreciate her thoroughness in trying to identify and treat the root cause of my issues using the most natural/ least harmful methods possible. I cannot recall the last time a medical practitioner took the time to understand my full health picture (as opposed to simply treating what hurts). Many thanks to Dr. Casey and team!

Fantastic experience: I have been a patient at this practice for several years. The emphasis is on getting to the root causes of your issue(s) and using several modalities to resolve them. Dr Wong believes that the patient has to become the CEO of their own process. I couldn’t agree more. At CIH, I trust that my partnership with the medical team increases my chances of getting results. It’s a two-way street where I am heard and guided accordingly. I highly recommend this practice.

Positive experience: I see EJ (Elizabeth Schaefer) as my GP and she is THE BEST!!! Hands-down one of the best medical professionals I've encountered in my life. She was the one, after a year of seeing Doctor after Doctor after specialist after Doctor, who finally figured out what was going on with me. She offers an awesome blend of homeopathy and Western medicine and isn't shy about using technology for diagnostics or conventional therapies where warranted... She's the perfect holistic practitioner, like she actually gets it. She is always willing to listen to my perspective but pushes me in the direction she thinks it's most medically sound. She consistently makes me feel like I have an ally in my health journey and that is completely invaluable. She is younger and thus doesn't have all the answers based on experience; however, she has amazing instincts and I trust she will advocate for me and won't give up digging until we get to the root of a problem. When I tell her "my body is telling me something isn't right," she takes that to heart and is never dismissive. EJ IS THE BEST!! The practice on the other hand is not the best. Can't schedule appointments online; I never get call backs to emails; scheduling can be a nightmare; very difficult to get someone on the phone (always an answering machine); constantly pushing seemingly gimmicky ways to make money. If EJ left, there's no chance I'd stick around but I will definitely be with CIH as long as she is.

I was seeing many other doctors and even saw another integrative medicine practice and no one cared (or tried) to dive deep to get to the bottom of my problems. Moli Eddins continues to exceed my expectations. We haven't fixed me, but I appreciate her medical plans, her attitude and I look forward to the future.

Fantastic experience: Very grateful for the support at Capital Integrative Health. Both offices feel more like wellness centers than doctor's offices which makes the visits much more enjoyable. Their office staff is always friendly and helpful. Their additional services such as sauna, red light therapy and inBody scans truly support one's journey to better health. It's very convenient to be able to do all the blood work in either office. Dr. Wong has been supporting our family over the years with various health issues. I've recently started working with Dr. Sattah and have appreciated her quick response to my questions in between appointments.

Negative experience: I was working with a nutritionist and two NPs who were both great and helped me find out *some* answers. Unfortunately as they transitioned out, and I was being transferred to another NP’s care, management decided to hike up the monthly membership fee to nearly double, and opted not to grandfather in the price for existing clients. Keep in mind they also charge insurance and a copay in addition to the monthly fee. I called to ask to cancel my membership, the membership coordinator “wasnt available” and I also sent a message through the portal to confirm my cancellation. No one replied to my message, nor called me back and then they decided to charge my card on file for the next monthly fee. I can’t help but be left with a bad taste in my mouth and of the opinion that this is a money grab. Over a year and a half of being a patient, no one could even call or reply to confirm cancellation. Overhead/management doesn’t care for you, just the revenue. They’re lucky they (had) kind staff who did care about their patients. Healthcare certainly should never cost this much….

However, I think CIH has evolved into one such healthcare facility with practitioners that hold similar values of delivering functional integrative care to its population. My hope is that the larger institutions of healthcare providers, will eventually realize the value of this model for a healthier and higher functioning population. The current Medical model is not, truly, in the best interest of its patients, but rather the economic profit/bottomline of business, (in my opinion, driven by pharmaceuticals and insurances) that can be gained through caregiving. Also, as functional medicial doctors, their job is to find the root cause of the patients problem, so they dont just drug them with medicine. They actually try to fix the problem. I have been a patient for over 9 years, and wouldn't go anywhere else.

They did labs, listened to my symptoms, respected my boundaries on certain topics. After getting labs done, they spent time explaining every single result, what the numbers meant and what was of concern. They explained the connections between health, mind, body, and sleep. I cannot stress more how incredible it is to see my doctor or PA or NP and not feel anxiety about my weight or shame about my lab results. If I could give 10 stars I absolutely would.

They have integrated care amongst their practitioners, so that you can see various types of health practitioners at CIH and they are all aware of your case. They also offer health classes which are very informative. Everyone I've seen has been very kind and helpful. It is definitely worth the monthly membership as you get a totally different experience from a regular doctor's office. Unlike a regular doctor's office, they try to find the root causes of your condition. I feel very supported by this practice. I love that they are integrative in terms of methodologies as well and it is great that they accept insurance because health care is expensive especially when you have a chronic issue! Fantastic experience: So happy to have a practice that spends time with me, looks at every angle, and digs deeper. I'm also so thankful to have been provided with evidence-based treatments that are as effective, but less damaging than conventional treatments. CIH is also very organized. His (CIH) practice is best of both worlds because he can offer both wellness services and sick visits. They lead with an open mind and also how to heal you naturally as well as traditional medicine. .they help you before you get other diseases. They try to get to root of your problem rather than just giving u a pill. Integrative medicine is the best way to be treated. And it’s hard to find a specialty practice that accepts insurance . The office is so beautiful too. And the staff is very helpful when u call. Ask about red light therapy. And other services they offer.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Wong and his associates gave me my life back! After contracting long COVID, I knew I needed a different approach to recovery than what I was being offered by my regular doctor. The folks at Capital Integrative Health did exhaustive testing and uncovered the reasons I was staying sick after all the rest of my family had recovered, then led me down a path of restoration that has given me energy and hope; I am so grateful that I found the practice!

Fantastic experience: In December, I was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive cancer. One of my Docs suggested I find a functional medicine Doc to support my journey. I wanted a group that had medical doctors, nutritionists, and used evidence based process. I also found a naturopathic oncologist that supports this group. I'm confident I'm going to survive and my recent pet scan supports this conclusion. Follow the plan, use email to manage your changes, read about your disease process. It costs more to follow this journey but thank the American Medical Association for not valuing years of research over the pharmaceutical industry. This is the way medicine should be practiced! Fantastic experience: Dr. Atta provided several recommendations for my wife based on an OMX test to enhance metabolic processes in conjunction with Dr. Bredesen's protocol. We are very happy with her advice and hope it results in cognitive improvements.

Negative experience: The whole practice is corrupt. We initially wanted to see the MD but was told that MD is not accepting new patients so were seen by an NP who ordered a huge panel of labs which insurance does not cover. After completion of the initial visit, when we returned to schedule a follow-up visit were told that we need to become member of the practice before this can be done and the membership is possible only by paying $ 69 dollars a month or $ 700 a year! This, I think, is unprofessional when these guys are charging the insurance company for each clinic visit and we would at best need 2-3 visits a year. Greed is like a bottomless pit!

Fantastic experience: Today I visited the Potomac location. The front desk staff was very professional and very polite. They were able to assist me with scheduling multiple appointments and consult with me about the lab work process. I was able to successfully schedule everything that I needed. My experience using the Infrared and red light therapy for the first time was also very pleasant and calming. The waiting area was quiet and calm. Prior to today's visit, I was able to speak to someone from the front desk staff at the Potomac location. They were very friendly and helpful over the phone. All in all, as a new patient. My interactions with the clinical and administrative staff has been nothing but stellar. It makes me feel like I made the right decision switching practioners. I also love the introductory emails that I have been receiving. Its giving me a great glance at what too expect as a patient at CIH. I am looking forward to my health journey. Thank you! Fantastic experience: Where do I even begin?! This place has changed my life, and that is an understatement. Dr. Wong isn't fazed by chronic illness probs, he will crack the code. I'm incredibly grateful to have found such a smart and innovative integrative doctor. He's well-versed in treating MCAS, which was a big deciding factor for me. I'm a nurse, so I'm a tough critic, and I think he's a rare find! The two functional dietitians I've seen have both offered helpful supplement suggestions, testing, and gentle but effective treatment plans. The IV clinic nurses are simply wonderful, and truly put the heart in healthcare. DEF recommend. You're lucky to have this place Maryland. Also, an integrative practice that is accessible (covered by insurance, and accepts Medicare)?! Unheard of.

Fantastic experience: I believe the care I received from Capital Integrative Health recently was excellent. Elizabeth Meaney, who is a PA at the practice, immediately put me at ease with her warm smile. She carefully listened to my concerns, and she was sensitive, smart, caring and competent. I appreciate CIH's holistic approach to understanding and treating illness and I like the diverse array of integrative treatment services they provide . The administrative staff is helpful and wonderful and the office environment is very uplifting.

Negative experience: I really wanted to love this practice - I have a longstanding interest in integrative health, and was working with a nutritionist to treat my SIBO in the UK before moving to the DC area. However, I was deeply concerned by the insurance billing practices, and disappointed by how hard it was to get appointments (even after joining the practice and paying the c. $800 annual supplementary membership fees!). Hopefully most of this was a COVID-era issue, but I suspect not. I attended a gut health group consultation online, and checked the box that it would be okay for insurance to be billed for the session and expected to have a small co-pay. However, when looking closely at my bill later, I was charged for an individual consultation with the doctor and an extended visit. This was honestly shocking, as the doctor only lead 10 minutes of the session, which was not personalized to any of us and was for about 8 clients simultaneously. It really was more of a general presentation than anything else, and more than $400 was billed to insurance! I spoke with the team and was able to get back my copay, but was never comfortable attending group sessions again. A similar issue happened with my nutrition consult (virtual and personal) - the expected tests had not come in and one session planned for 30 minutes only took 10 minutes, but a 30 minute plus an extended time bill went into insurance. Again, this didn't impact my personal charges, but I would categorize it as billing fraud nonetheless. Coupled with this, at the time (1.5 years ago), the longstanding nutritionist had left the practice, and the nutritionist I worked with was still in training and not particularly well-versed in gut health/SIBO. I ended up leaving the practice. I hope that others have had much better experiences, as DC really needs a good integrative practice! Sadly, my experience made it feel more like an overpriced place to meet a (relatively adept) nurse practitioner, buy quite a few expensive supplements, and be given generic gut health handouts that can be found for free by other practitioners online (Alison Siebeker, etc.). The big advantage is being able to have quite a large panel of blood and gut health tests run, which might be covered by your insurance. I very much hope that their insurance billing practices have improved but caution anyone to attend any non-personalized sessions that are advertised as group learning.
