Fantastic experience: My trainer Steven is awesome and an outside the box thinker. Honestly, ive had other trainers in the past and when i tell them i have specific goals that are unorthodox or am hurting in a certain way, they just default to a standard strengthening program. This place is different. Im trying to learn how to do a muscle up and i was surprised at how much experience he has in various domains. All the exercises make sense. Would recommend.

Fantastic experience: We have loved working out at Community Strength! We joined about a month ago and it’s been an amazing experience so far. John was communicative throughout the entire process to get us on board and extremely knowledgable and thorough. Our trainer Steven rocks. He is always prepared, incredibly knowledgeable, and genuinely invested in our progress. He challenges us in the best way and takes the time to teach proper form and technique so we’re doing each movement safely and effectively. Fantastic experience: My wife and I joined community strength because we wanted to focus on our health this year and make better lifestyle choices. I’ve been working out with Steven for the past month and he’s been able to quickly identify all of my weak points and subsequently torture me as we work on them haha. It’s my first time ever working with a personal trainer and having him hold me accountable has truly been great. Especially when it’s most challenging. I have also had some right shoulder issues for many years. We’re talking 15 years! He’s been able to help me make the most progress I’ve ever made in one month. Perhaps just as impressively, I have struggled with a herniated disc for the past two years that I sustained while deadlifting and Steven suggested an unconventional tiny tweak while sitting at work that has almost completely mitigated all pain. I’m not easily impressed but he truly has helped me make the most significant improvements in just a few short weeks that doctors, chiropractors, and a physiotherapist were unable to achieve in years. I’m only a third way through this training program and I couldn’t be happier so far! I hate the workouts, but I also love them haha. I guess that’s how it should feel :)

I have some health concerns and she is very understanding and tailors my fitness plan to focus on gaining strength while also improving balance/posture and preventing injury. Fantastic experience: I've trained with Coach Steven Harris and he is great! My main focus was to build strength and make sure I do the exercises with proper form. When I was very new to the program, Steve was very thorough in his assessment and always checked to make sure I was feeling confident and really understood the basics before we progressed to the next level. But more importantly, as time went on, Steve is the kind of trainer that keeps you engaged, changes things up, and knows just when and how to encourage you to try harder, even when you doubt yourself, and I really appreciate that! We went from "I don't think I can even lift that" to "oh heck yeah bring it on!" in a few months. Thanks Steve for being such an amazing coach and helping me get after it!

Fantastic experience: Gabi is the an incredibly responsive, attentive, and knowledgeable personal trainer. Fantastic experience: After moving to Austin I was on the hunt for a personal trainer. I came across community strength, and immediately after talking to John on the phone I knew this was the gym for me. The gym is a very clean, intimate space with all the equipment you need. John was very thorough and knowledgeable during the initial assessment to determine where I was in my fitness journey. I love that they have the option for semi-private sessions with 1-2 other people. Syd is a fantastic trainer, explaining all the movements in detail, pushing you to hi harder and upping your weights as you get stronger. I also like that you can give feedback on the movements you prefer and kind of customize your workout. Definitely worth checking out this gym!

Fantastic experience: I have been training here with Steven for two months and have really enjoyed it. Steven is knowledgeable, personable, and is quick in adjusting your training whenever needed. I have a few surgeries that limit my mobility and he has been able to adapt my training to improve my performance and mobility despite those limitations. Fantastic experience: I have not been to Community Strength Austin, I actually live in Chicago, IL, I’m posting this review for one of their trainers, Gabi. Before moving to Austin, Gabi was my trainer and coach in Chicago. We trained a lot in boxing, many forms of strength, endurance, agility and flexibility, among many other physical fitness areas. Gabi is a competitive fighter(a hell of a boxer) in boxing and Muay Thai. She’s a student of combat sports and exercise science, continuously refining her craft to developed new and unique techniques to benefit her clients. After reflecting on my experience training with Gabi for over 2 years, I felt compelled to post this. Simply put, if you get hooked up with Gabi, consider yourself extremely lucky. She’s a phenomenal trainer to say the least, with a wealth of knowledge and experience in a multitude of different training styles and techniques. When you get Gabi you get workouts focused on you, specifically. Whether you are a seasoned veteran, or a rookie in the gym, Gabi’s got you covered. I will finish with this, on top of being an incredible trainer, Gabi is a tremendous person, with a huge heart, friendly, bubbly personality and a welcoming demeanor. I could not recommend her more highly, we miss her terribly here in Chicago and know you gym goers in Austin will find her as remarkable as we do here in Chicago

Fantastic experience: I’ve worked with Steven H. for years and he is fantastic. Extremely knowledgeable and knows how to tailor my workouts to meet my goals. I have bad knees (from injuries from years of playing college + pro sports) and he is experienced with suggesting modifications to address those limitations. He is even working with my young teen boys to help with core strengthening and injury prevention exercises. Definitely recommend!

Fantastic experience: Dealing with runner’s knee led to the decision to try Community Strength Austin. A running buddy highly recommended it, sharing glowing feedback that made it an easy choice. John, the owner, responded promptly and took the time to explain all available options. He was extremely accommodating with my work schedule and connected me with Syd for biweekly training sessions. Syd is a fantastic trainer who is patient, kind, and fun. As someone relatively new to strength training, the detailed explanations and demonstrations of each exercise have been extremely helpful. Every session includes a check-in to assess how things are feeling, with adjustments made as needed to accommodate any aches or pains. After just two months, strength has improved, running performance has significantly increased, and knee pain has completely disappeared. Choosing to train here has been a truly worthwhile investment in my long-term health.

Fantastic experience: I've worked with Community Strength for about a year. They have a coach that can help you reach any fitness goal you have in mind. They have successfully coached me through a body building style cutting phase where we purposefully maintained muscle mass and dropped approximately 5% body fat to get in to sub 15% realm. Most recently, I have been working with Steven. Our goal has been to gain muscular endurance in weight training and increase cardio capacity. His expertise shines in his supersets combining heart elevating plyometrics or cardio machines with controlled compound movements. I've been most impressed with his ability to teach more complicated barbell movements. His cues are clear and understandable.

Fantastic experience: John will get your in shape! He’s great at giving one on one feedback and adjusting exercises to accommodate injuries. He met me where I was at (hadn’t been in a formal gym since August) and helped push me but also encourage me. The gym is clean and well equipped. I’ve never worked with a personal trainer before but I definitely recommend John! He’ll get you the results you need and you might even enjoy it

Fantastic experience: Fantastic personal training! The gym itself is a no-nonsense space, everything you need, nothing you don't (like crowds or distractions). Everyone there is friendly, focused, and ready to work. The trainers themselves are also top notch, and Syd has been amazing to work with. She's engaged, focused, and knows her stuff. My workouts have been tailored to my goals (resolving some movement issues and imbalances while adding muscle), the week-to-week progressions are setup to target my deficits very well, and the results have been much faster (and more obvious) than I honestly was expecting. Syd handles all of the stuff that creates "mental noise" I'd struggle with on my own, and pushes me harder than I would myself (but safely). The workouts are the most effective and efficient hour of my week.

Fantastic experience: Community Strength is a perfect little neighborhood gym, and I have been so happy with Syd as my trainer. I love the “boutique” feel of the space and that only PT clients are in there. It feels like a nearly private gym and it’s well equipped and very clean. Syd has been so great in leading me thru my postpartum journey of shedding weight, building muscle, and regaining strength and confidence. She goes at the perfect pace so that I have always felt ready but challenged to take on the various circuits of each PT session. I’m psyched with the progress I’ve made. John, the owner and also a trainer, is wonderful as well. They put clients first and do a great job of keeping us motivated. Fantastic experience: After losing weight I noticed that I had also lost strength, muscle mass and looked flabby. Getting out of bed suddenly required effort. For these reasons I was on the lookout for private training. I’m one of those who really don’t enjoy exercising but I’m vain enough to rise above the occasion and do something about it. I thus visited and tried a few health clubs. I picked Community strength Training and never looked back. As a woman in her mid 60’s who is well read about diets and fitness I didn’t have much hope to rapidly improve my muscle tone and strength. After a couple of months though I could tell the difference, I looked better and felt strong and confident in my physical abilities. I’m prone to all sorts of injuries but both Kit and John, made sure my form was correct. They kept track of the proper weight I could lift and adjusted exercises accordingly. They both have extensive knowledge about physiology and nutrition They knew when to work through the pain and when to stop. I have not felt better as I do now in a long while. Chatting with Kit and John made the sessions go quickly. They are both delightful and kind individuals who care about progress and reaching goals. As a certified couch potato I would never have thought that I would enjoy my time and would want to continue training over there. Aside from top notch instruction, the facility and the equipments are kept spotless and there are plenty of parking spaces.

Fantastic experience: Having been primarily a runner for the last 30 years, I decided it was time to incorporate strength training into my regular exercise. I had never lifted a weight in my life and always found that section of the gym foreign and incredibly intimidating. Fantastic experience: Sydney is a great trainer. I’m an older guy, and I didn’t have much balance, flexibility, or strength. Now I do because of the personally adapted exercises she had me do. She’s professional, though friendly. She observed me carefully to be sure I was doing the exercises properly, and had no problem showing me how to do them when I messed up. That’s more patience than I have! I was quite tired but felt great after each training session. Do yourself a favor and work with her. You will not regret it.

Fantastic experience: John has a unique ability to listen to what goals I bring to the table, regarding my training ( both athletic and comprehensively strength based) - and turn that into tangible progress. In recovering from a past foot injury, I think his programming has been the most impactful for building a foundation to be better than I was prior to the injury. Kind, empathetic, smart. Fantastic experience: Wholehearted 5 stars for Community Strength Austin, particularly John. I found my way to John by way of referral from a fascia stretch specialist who had done all he could but still couldnt improve my shoulder pain. The pain was so severe it kept me up at night. Within several weeks of working with John the pain was gone. I was sleeping soundly and back full-force in the gym. Extremely grateful for John and the amazing work he does.
