Negative experience: We had a very bad experience with HK Taekwondo.. A person reached out and gave us a link to schedule a trial class. I scheduled via their link for the available slots and confirmed to that person the day and time I scheduled. However, when I went there with my son in this hot weather, taking off early from work, to my surprise they say there is belt testing going on and the trial class can’t happen. I told the front desk that you guys gave me the link and i scheduled it from there but they just said “ Sorry can’t do anything now.” This was super unprofessional of them by not taking accountability or even trying to accomodate. They didn’t value anyone else’s time and incovenience caused. They could have avoided the situation in either of the 2 ways 1. Should not have kept the belt testing times as available timeslots for trial classes OR 2. Just a basic phone call or text ahead of the scheduled time stating that they can’t do the trial today. But none was done and not even reached out stating they apologize for the inconvenience.. They clearly Don’t care.. Never going back..

Fantastic experience: Taekwondo is my favorite sport, and I am currently finishing my 5th year of it. Master Kim, and all of the instructors here are amazing, and the whole team is like one big family. HK accepts people of all ages, skills levels, and body types. It helps you not just become a better fighter, but also grow as a person.

Negative experience: I am reaching out to provide feedback on our today’s experience with your trial class, and unfortunately, it did not meet our expectations. Today, we encountered significant difficulty locating the facility. Despite multiple attempts to call—about 20 times, beginning 10 minutes prior to the class—we were unable to get through for directions. Upon arrival, we found the only accessible route was through the ice rink, followed by a dark staircase. Clear instructions on navigating the facility or better guidance over the phone would have been greatly appreciated. When we finally arrived, there was no one available to welcome us. A gentleman (whose name was not introduced) briefly asked for my son’s name but offered no further orientation or encouragement. The coach also did not greet us or attempt to engage with my son, who is only three years old. This lack of warmth, guidance, and individual attention was disappointing, especially for a young child experiencing a new environment for the first time. We were left with the impression that customer service and a welcoming, child-friendly approach were absent. Based on this experience, I regretfully cannot recommend your program to others with young children.

Negative experience: I purchased a Groupon for HK Tae Kwon Do for my 6 and 4-year-old children to see if they would be interested in this fulltime. Initially, the instructors and the owner were welcoming, and my kids enjoyed the classes. However, after a few weeks, a young female manager—who had not been there during our previous visits—suddenly told us we couldn't participate in the way we had been. Her first interaction with us resulted in her kicking us out of the gym, despite the owner’s prior approval. She told us we could get a refund through Groupon, but that turned out to be false, leaving us without a refund or resolution. The manager’s actions were unprofessional and disappointing, making this a distressing experience for my family. I do not recommend this business, particularly due to the poor handling by their management.

Fantastic experience: We love The Crossover, and HK Taekwondo is something we just found over the weekend. We took our son to a trial class and he had so much fun we signed up right after! The instructor is really great with kids and made our kiddo feel very welcomed :)

Fantastic experience: My kids have been going to classes at HK Taekwondo since summer 2023. They loved the masters and fellow students so much. Their interest is growing as they pass belt test every time. Master Kim and his team are very knowledgeable and helpful. Looking forward to kids learning more and more techniques and get stronger and stronger.

Master Kim’s inquisitive state of mind, passion, and dedication guided many athletes, including myself, to compete at the WORLD CLASS LEVEL and medal . And yes there is documented proofs of this.

Fantastic experience: Best Martial Arts school in Austin! Master Kim and his team are phenomenal, my son has been training with Master Kim for 10 years. My boy is now competing in taekwondo competitions at National and international level doing a fantastic job. HK taekwondo is the place to go if you are looking for a Master and coaches with a lot of knowledge and work ethic while making very fun for the kids.

Fantastic experience: My daughter started at HK Taekwondo as a Tiger (5 years old) and over the last five years has earned her Red Belt. HK Taekwondo has been the one to take her through this entire journey so close to reaching the top. HK Taekwondo is probably the best experience I’ve not only had with a martial arts studio, is has been and still remains one of the best family owned businesses I’ve ever had experiences with. Master Kim and his Teachers are firm, consistent, teach discipline but not through aggression or anger rather sternness and firmness at a level the child can comprehend and understand. I believe this is why over the last five years, I have seen other kids also grow up in the same program. If you want to start this journey as adult or with your child I very much highly recommend this school. PS - I also know this school follows guidelines and teaching standards for a path to the Olympics.

Fantastic experience: This is a great training place for Taekwondo. The coaches here are awesome and they trains kids with passion and lot of motivation. My kids love attending classes here and I would highly recommend this place to anybody who looking to train Taekwondo.

Fantastic experience: This is the second Taekwondo school I’ve ever attended and it’s a lot better than my first experience with a different school. I’ve done adult lessons at both places. This is a very friendly environment that pushes you to be your best without being too strict. The instructors are very kind and knowledgeable and really great teachers. The studio is big and the location is great. I just really love it. I feel a part of the family already and it’s only been a few weeks (although I felt it on the very first day).

Fantastic experience: HK Tae Kwon Do instructors came to my son’s birthday party to give the kids a tae kwon do lesson. They did a wonderful job! The kids all really enjoyed learning some kicks and punches and also about the importance of using their voice to show strength. The instructors were very kind and also did a great job of keeping a bunch of five year olds in line and engaged. I also really appreciate how easy HKTKD was to work with when scheduling the event. Based on this interaction it’s clear this is a wonderful tae kwon do school!

Fantastic experience: We LOVE HK Taekwondo. My daughter was hesitant and nervous the first day, even to the point of tears. Master Kim took her and did some one on one time to get her comfortable and confident. And here we are a month later and she looks forward to class each week. To watch her grow in her confidence has been truly remarkable. The instructors are kind yet firm and truly invested in developing these kids a whole individuals not just in their taekwondo abilities. Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: HK Taekwondo is the perfect studio for taekwondo training. Master Kim is not only nice but he’s also enthusiastic about teaching you all the skills. The staff members are very friendly and helpful too. My daughter really enjoys practicing and learning here.

Fantastic experience: Both my boys started coming here about 5 months back. I can say they have come a long way from not wanting to come even once a week to wanting to come at least 4 days a week. The instructors are all awesome and very dedicated to their art. They know how to playfully bring out the best from their students and encourage their strengths. A lot of stress is placed on discipline and being respectful.

Fantastic experience: My last review was over 8 years ago. My 8 year old daughter is attending now. She does after school and TKD classes. This studio is still amazing. Master Kim and the other instructors are superb and great with the kids. My daughter loves going and even she's noticed what great condition she is in. She's happy to be there. I'm happy she's there. And I would recommend HK to anyone. Especially to families.

Fantastic experience: I would highly recommend HK for after school care and martial arts. My son is 5 years old and absolutely loves learning all the techniques they have to offer. I checked out several places before choosing HK and I I knew as soon as I walked in and met the instructors, this was the place for my son. We love it!!

Fantastic experience: My son previously trained with another after school program, but we were not satisfied. HK Taekwondo so far has been above and beyond better. Ms. Jennifer and the after school teachers are all very positive and exhibit great communication with the kids. No screaming at kids like the other place. Master Kim and the other instructors are great at balancing hard work, respect, and discipline while keeping classes fun. I can already see a huge difference in my son's ability to stay light on his feet and strike. I like that many of Master Kim's current and previous students are champions in the sport. That shows this place is the real deal.

Fantastic experience: After relocating to the area last year, we tried finding a good TKD for my then 6yo son, since he had been practicing TKD since he was 4yo. We found a school that we thought was good and needless to say, it was the worst. Then thanks to the wonderful magical world of Google, we found HK TKD and we couldn’t be happier! This is what we were looking for. The kids have fun and love training hard. This is hardcore TKD and we love it. Master Kim is great with the kids and you can see how much he loves his craft. All of HK’s staff and teacher’s are top notch, and there is a great family environment, we couldn’t be happier.

He is effective in his ability to create relationships with each student. He values them as individuals and empowers each child to overcome the challenges they'll face in life. Everything we did at HK was fun and meaningful and they helped me understand my responsibilities to the generations that'll follow me. I think of Hyun Kim as a true role model; I would recommend HK Taekwondo to everyone.

Fantastic experience: HK Taekwondo is a great place to learn martial arts, for any age group (including adults). Master Kim is a very dedicated and committed teacher. The daily classes are fun. It's a small school, so the students get personal attention. The HK Performance Team trains 3 times weekly (in addition to the daily class) and competes in tournaments statewide. HK also has after-school daycare, with school pick-up, and optional TKD class. Our son has been with HK for almost 2 years and he absolutely loves it. Our son also swims competitively year-round (USA Swimming) and the HK workouts (similar to dryland training in swimming) helps him build endurance for his mid-to-long distance events. We (and other parents) feel like we're "part" of the HK "family".

Fantastic experience: Master Kim really cares about the development of his pupils in all areas. Our kids absolutely love going there and have a great time, while building character and perseverance to help them succeed in life.

Fantastic experience: I have been looking to enroll my 10 year old daughter in Taekwondo for a while. She is very soft spoken and I wanted her to learn to be more assertive and self -confident. I had to find an instructor who is firm without being too intimidating or my daughter would lose interest very quickly. I finally enrolled her in the beginning of summer with HK Taekwondo and could not be more pleased. Master Kim has the ability to balance discipline and keeping the kids engaged. He finds the time to work with my daughter one-on one to fine-tune her forms in between classes or even after class. He checks in with her to hold her accountable for the commitment she had made to practice and do her stretches on a regular basis. It has only been a little over a month since my daughter started lessons, but I have already seen the positive effect the class has had on her attitude and self confidence. Most of all, she is having fun!

Fantastic experience: My 9-year-old son has been coming to HK for over a year now and he looks forward to coming to class every single week. HK and Master Kim have taught him so much to improve his physical strength and stamina but more importantly about respect, discipline, and hard work. I really like Master Kim's gentle and respectful teaching style and they have fun while they are learning. This is an exceptional studio and I recommend it to anyone of any age, it doesn't get any better than this!

Fantastic experience: With a bit of family history in TKD, we were picky in selecting a studio for my 7 year old son. Master Kim impressed us from the start and continues to do so. His heart for the kids paired with obvious knowledge of the sport keep us coming back!

Fantastic experience: This has been the best place for my 10 year old daughter's after school care. Not only do they offer Taekwondo all 5 days, it is much less expensive than the crowded and overtly militarian type studios in the area. The homework time is actually done with work checked for correctness. That in itself is a very wonderful service. This place has helped my daughter learn how to work hard and still have fun. Master Kim engages the kids and they all really want to work their hardest to be their best! It is amazing the progress my daughter has shown in strength and discipline in less than month. Classes are all at least 40 minutes and even go over sometimes since Master Kim does not side step or short cut a lesson just to save time. My favorite part about this place is how calm, considerate and compassionate Master Kim is with the children. They all really get a true work out in and leave smiling

Fantastic experience: Hands down the Best in town! Passion for Taekwondo, Quality instruction, caring approach and attitude. Before enrolling our son, we read reviews, visited locations, stopped by unannounced, compared prices, values, and talked to the owners. 1 year later, we can't see our son anywhere else. Master Kim truly is amazing! They offer pick up from school snacks and supervised homework time with martial arts classes in the after school program. They host bouts with other local groups. Students enjoy the workout even though they hurt so bad from soreness; Master Kim has found how to balance fun and hardwork! Students learn some basic words in Korean too. Come try it out, or watch! Fantastic experience: Master Kin is truly a master in the sport of Taekwondo as being from his native Korea he truly represent the art and history of the martial art he teaches. All ways will to go out of his way to help.

Positive experience: Master Kim is a great instructor, as welll as a great person. He really connects with the students, and teaches discipline, but takes a more laid back approach. I knew the first time I spoke with him that this was the place for my kids to learn, and I have not regretted it. I know many people come in a TKD expecting this militaristic style of class, this is not that type of place, but trust me, his methods are greatly affective. My boys love going there, and I love taking them there. It is a great family environment. I highly recommend anyone looking for a place to learn Tae Kwon Do to go here.

Fantastic experience: Started my child there over a year ago and have loved every moment of being part of the HK family. The atmosphere is laid back, fun, family oriented while teaching kids respect and discipline. I loved the studio so much I have my daughters friend taking classes there and another friend of the family starting there soon. Master Kim is wonderful with the children and the children love and respect him. Our family made a wise choice bring a part of HK Taekwondo and hope to see it grow.

Fantastic experience: My 4 year old started his first martial class with HK Taekwondo. This studio has done an amazing job. Master Kim reinforces gross motor and fine motor skills while incorporating discipline, patience, respect and communication. My son always looks forward to the class and has so much fun learning the martial art. The staff is friendly and helpful and the environment is always clean and well maintained.
