Positive experience: I love my pcp here but I came for another visit and she was busy so I saw Wendy Perry and she was AWFUL. She was so rude, basically belittled me for being overweight, said “that’s not an excuse” when I told her how I was handling things with my pcp. She tried to make me feel bad for taking weight loss shots, she gave me “tips” on how to lose weight, like I don’t know what to do and am not working on it with my PRIMARY. Like I’m only here for one issue cos my primary was booked. She ordered unneeded bloodwork. Never again. I should have gone to a walk in. Edit: I stand by what I say about Wendy, but the practice manager did call me to hear my side, and he was very nice. She assured me I was NOT crazy, and was very polite and respectful. I appreciate that she listened and cared about what I had to say.

Negative experience: Dental care is decent IF you can get in. They set appointments and then cancel them the week before because the dentist is not going to be there (???) This has happened to me 5 or 6 times. At this point I have been waiting over a year for an appointment, even though they tell me that I'm a high risk patient. I have been going to this dental office only because I can't afford to go anywhere else.

Fantastic experience: I see the amazing chiropractor, Kimberly Layman, at this office. As a provider and a chiropractor, she is bar none in terms of quality and care. She is the best! This reception desk has gotten better in terms of responsiveness when answering phone calls. The staff has always been kind and courteous to me during visits.

Negative experience: I have been a patient here for years! When I say that I am highly upset and disgusted with them is an understatement, even when I was switched to the Winsted Community Health. Let me explain why: For more than a few year's now I been more tired, more sick and back problems, they did testing after testing wouldn't tell me anything " oh you're okay it's in your head". Finally I switched over to the office on East Main Street explaining to them that I am not being heard and being brushed off, My New Doctor ordered Blood Test and he said I am a Severe Anemic, Severely Iron Deficient, and I have something called thalassemi. My liver is also mildly elevated. So I took the blood test off of My Chart and Compared them to the Blood test on Community Health and Wellness Healow app and sure enough over the year's my blood test in those areas kept getting worse! Do you think my doctor would of sat me down and talked to me, call me Something to say hey we need to have a serious talk about your recent blood test.. No they would rather see you die I guess! How Dare Community Health and Wellness say that they care about their patients, never ever again will they ever see my face any of my families face and hopefully anyone else I know.

Negative experience: Years ago I saw a dentist here and it ended in a nightmare. I had a tooth crack in half and was in pain and drooling but they told me I was fine cause they couldn’t see it in the X-ray.since the crack was parallel to the angle of the image. They never actually looked in my mouth at the tooth with their eyeballs. I ended up the next morning at UConn emergency dentist getting it pulled. I never went back. I recently lost my car and needed a primary care doctor nearby so I reluctantly made an appt with CH& W. The male receptionist I spoke to was sooo rude and short and snotty. He made an appt for me in winsted so I could be seen sooner, which I appreciated, but I JUST now showed up to it and they don’t have me on the schedule!!!! I could scream. In had to get a medcab here and arrived an hour early.. and I have no appt. I think that guy did this on purpose. He was a real jerk in the phone. I’m definitely filing a grievance!! AGAIN I don’t get it

Negative experience: one of the worst place to try to get in too they will have excuses after excuses why they have to keep changing ur appointment or cancel ur appointment that u had for a month they had 4 excuses that they had to change or cancel my appointment because the doc there is to dam lazy and doesn't want to do there job. Someone is gone be either in the hospital or die because they don't want to do there job

Negative experience: I walked in today to get a copy of a physical and they had me waiting a whole hour for a piece of paper to be printed. People would come in and get attended while they had me waiting there for a whole hour

Fantastic experience: I saw Dr. Victoria Massey, DMD and I was extremely impressed with her thorough examination of my teeth. The dental care at the Community Health and Wellness Center of Torrington is state of the art. The receptionist and staff were friendly and courteous. I highly recommend this facility!

Fantastic experience: I’ve been visiting CHWC for over 2 years now for behavioral health and cannot say enough good things about my care and the staff here. Everytime I call, the receptionists are extremely understanding and friendly. When my bill was becoming overwhelming, they worked with me to provide a solution and worked with me to set up a payment plan but reiterated they would never deny me service because I could not pay right away. The behavioral health specialists I see are unmatched to any others I have dealt with at other practices. I highly recommend for behavioral health.

Negative experience: The dental office is awesome. But the rest of the staff is indifferent, cant be bothered. No one ever answers the phone. They disappear for hours on lunch. In one year my pcp has changed 3 times. Getting the attention you need here is unlikely.

Positive experience: I’ve gone here for several years and have been quite pleased with care & services I’ve received. Finding healthcare in the more “remote” regions of the state (like the NW hills & NE CT) can be challenging . . . esp. if you don’t have premium health insurance. CHW helps fill the need for quality healthcare at sliding rates and for those on the Husky state programs. They clearly rely on state & federal funds to make it possible to provide more people to with consistent preventive care. They provide more services with less income than any healthcare provider I’ve ever known. While their staff does turn over fairly regularly, it seems largely due to the fact they are a “clinic” focused around providing services rather than a “practice” focused around a practitioner and building a client base. As a result, it is not uncommon to see newly minted professionals start their careers here and then move on to build their practices elsewhere. If you are looking for a family physician who you intend to stay with until they retire decades from now, this is not the place to look. If you’re looking for affordable, quality medical care from a mission & outcome driven organization, you’re probably in the right place.

Negative experience: I called and the answering service answered. Very rude and unprofessional and hung up on me mid sentence. I forgot it was a holiday and offices were closed but the lady was really rude to me. Last time I had an appointment, it was cancelled due to weather. I drove all the way there because no one called and told me that the office was closed due to a snow day. My boyfriend went there last week and they were rude to him too. He was told his appointment was at 11am and they were extremely rude when he showed up on time. Apparently his appointment was changed to 10:30am without his knowing. Highly considering switching doctors and dentist and I’ve been going here for years.

Fantastic experience: I have been going in now for almost two months now because I will be going through a extraction process to get dentures and this center is working around my work schedule to make this possible. Everything has been explained to me in it’s entirety and has been going great. Bobbie who has been been going over every little bit of my mouth to prep me for my fillings and extractions has been a God Sent. I was hesitant about this whole process because I have been scared to go to the dentist since 1998. She changed that around for me by making me comfortable, explaining everything she has been doing so far and making it as painless as possible and has restored my faith in dentistry. Now I look forward to going every time and can’t wait to show my new smile soon to everyone.❤️

Negative experience: They completely discriminated against me and my doctor wouldn’t give me anything for my asthma because she didn’t believe I had asthma and I was on the phone holding for them for hrs just to cancel a simple appointment this place is crazy don’t go here!

Fantastic experience: I have only been to CHWC for their free COVID-19 testing, but they've been fantastic every time I've gone. Testing is quick, easy, painless, and my results always come back in 2-3 days. Would recommend!

Fantastic experience: I have been overwhelmingly happy, satisfied and well cared for here. I was diagnosed with a fairly minor issue I needed meds for, after I had seen 3 specialists who did not diagnose me with anything and my daily life has changed drastically for the better. Even when I get a new doctor when mine has moved on, the care is still there. The nutritionist and dentists/hygienists I've seen have also all been caring and professional . Each professional I have seen (from those screening for covid), aides, doctors, nurses, nutritionist, pharmacy etc. take time to talk, answer questions and ask if I need to discuss anything else. The time spent with me is fantastic. I'm completely satisfied and recommend the Torrington facility fully - I have only been to Winsted twice and was just as satisfied.

Fantastic experience: Dr. O'Halloran is amazing, saved my life after years of pain and illness, no other physician could figure out what was going on. Dr. O'Halloran put my puzzle of symptoms together and even though what I have is very, very rare he nailed it with one specific blood test. There are not enough words to describe how wonderful he is. Dr. O'Halloran is kind, compassionate and defines what a doctor should be. I owe my life to him. Thank you!!

Negative experience: Very bad experience i called told them my problem they made an appointment knowing they would not be able to help me needed a filling and they knew there facility was not able to do fillings and on top of that took more unnecessary x rays because they knew they wouldn’t be able to help me and we’re told from the beginning i was uninsured consultations from doctor was very poor and very unprofessional paid 147.00 dollars and received no help which from the initial phone call I should have been told that they could not do fillings instead of wasting my time and taking my money and most importantly not receiving much needed help . Fantastic experience: Dr.'s and nurses are great. The addition of a in house pharmacy is great, pharmacy staff is lightening fast. Dr. O actually seems to care about how I'm really doing and I don't feel talked down to like many other Dr's I've seen in the past. I rated 4 stars 8 months ago, but the higher ups listened as has all the staff and I give them 5 stars. Keep it up and I'll figure out how to give you 6 stars. Also I must say that it is a very clean and well maintained facility.

Fantastic experience: I had a wonderful experience when I went to my appointment. At the front desk, Erica , she was extremely kind to me and very informative. She helped me alot. Dr Patel was also very kind and understanding. One thing I do have to say is when I first called I do not know who I was speaking to but she was kind of rude concerning my situation and judgemental in my opinion, asking a question which she should not have . Besides that , as i said erica and dr Patel were awesome .

Fantastic experience: My husband and I relocated to CT from CA about 3 years ago. We retired a bit early and were unsure of how our Health Insurance would work out. I got in touch with Tara Munroy for help and that was the best phone call I ever made. We met in person and Tara helped us decide what plan was the best for us and helped us get all set up with Access Health and our Connecticare Insurance. Tara is extremely professional, very knowledgeable and a great Advocate to have in your corner. Thank you Tara for doing such an amazing job and for being there for us. Negative experience: Took my fiance here. He just wanted a cleaning. Made him have xrays. When he questioned why he couldn't have a cleaning without an exam he was told he made the blond tech cry and they refused to do his cleaning. All he did was question why they had to do all the extras. Staff should be trained in patient sensitively and explain to patients policy and procedures. Very unethical and bad bedside manners. Negative experience: I am not happy with my care here at all. I came in for an appointment today at 11:30am. I spoke with my provider for 15 minutes about how uncomfortable I was due to a rash and EXTREME all over body itchiness. She told me that it could be "fungal" and that I needed a body wash to clear it up. I explained to her that the itching was so bad that it wakes me up and/or keeps me up at night, I wake up with blood on my sheets from me scratching in my sleep unconsciously. My rash and itching are extremely uncomfortable and irritating which I told her over and over again. Obviously it wasn't important to her because it's now 7pm and still she hasn't sent the medication to the pharmacy. I called the office twice today asking about it and was told two times not to worry, it will be called in by the end of the day. Well, it never was, and now I have to go another night with extreme discomfort and itching. I am not happy at all. I feel like I am not important at all to this place. I'm just another patient....who cares if I'm suffering. This isn't right....I told her so many times how desperate I was for relief and she did NOTHING. IM Filing a formal complaint and will find another provider who actually cares that I'm suffering. Thanks Community Health and Wellness!

Negative experience: I was seen by Dr.Salom on a few occasions. He only spoke of himself, what expertise he had, previous jobs hes held, life stories and made inappropriate comments that were rude and pompous. All of which made me feel VERY uncomfortable and VERY upset. Each time it was all about him dispite me making numerous attempts to explain how I felt. Dr.Salom settled on telling me I had a cold. The next day feeling very, very sick and worse I went to the Emergency Room and was told I had bronchitis and needed an antibiotic as soon as possible. Not only did my insurance pay Dr.Salom but I did as well with my co-pay and because he couldn't do his job correctly I still had to pay at the Emergency room which we all know is NOT cheap. I suggest finding a different Doctor because I now will be doing that. Save your dignity go to a Doctor who will listen, assess and treat you right.

Negative experience: Medical side goes through drs and nurses way too much. They never have opening even for legit emergencies. Dental side also goes through drs like crazy and their receptionist when I went there was as dumb as she was rude. Wouldnt schedule an appointment when my filling fell out and I was in so much pain since the nerves were uncovered. She told me it wasnt urgent that I would have to wait over a month. Called south main dental told them the situation and she said oh no that's horrible and must hurt and asked when I could come to them. Again never any opening even for emergencies.

Negative experience: Horrible horrible horrible. Worst experience ive had at a doc office. I also would like to rate the dental office a zero star if I could. I went to see Nancy Wang. WORST dentist ever. Not only is she extremely cold and has no emotion towards me, she told me I had a tooth that needed a root canal that my husky a insurance would deny, so we should pull it. Thank God I got a second opinion, at South Main Dental, who informed me my insurance excepted the root canal!! I got it done there, no problems. Negative experience: honestly the worst place to go to in torrington was seen at the er and was told to get an appointment the next day so i called out of school called them and told them i needed to be seen that day and they LEGITIMATELY told me thats not how it works and i asked if anyone had an opening and he said no ... worst doctors office in torrington

Negative experience: The worst. Was very sick with the flu and couldn't breathe well, so I was 10 minutes late to my appointment(it was difficult to walk to/from the car across parking lots). I was told they would no longer see me and I should schedule another appointment. The next available appointment was November 7th, and I was there October 3rd! This place is the worst. Find somewhere else to go, for your own sake.

Negative experience: I really have never felt so belittled and disrespected by a doctor as I did here. Generally when I go here nothing is actually ever accomplished. In this one instance where I had broken ribs my male doctor, maybe because I'm a young female, made me feel like I was being a baby about my chest pains. Like, hardly could breathe chest pains. Could hardly MOVE chest pains. My blood still boils thinking about it, I was so shocked, I told him that I thought I had broken ribs and he actually laughed at me. And then said nothing. He stared at me for an extremely tense, awkward full 15 seconds or so until I finally choked out, "I'm not...lying, like, I don't know what to tell you..." He actually rolled his eyes and said, "Oh, I believe you." In a just sarcastic enough tone. Didn't order an x-ray. Didn't give me any pain meds, told me to take aspirin. Didn't give me time off of work. Prescribed an inhaler. I left there and immediately dissolved into tears feeling scared and helpless and in so much pain. I ended up having to go to Urgent Care where they did an x-ray and I found out I had three broken ribs. Thinking about this still makes me so angry my hands shake. I will not go back here. I might as well just not go.

Fantastic experience: Going to the dentist can b a stressful experience, Dr. Jacobs not only eased my fear but fixed my bite while fixing my broken filling . She realized my fillings on my right side where too high which made them easier to chip and I kept biting my cheek while I was eating a real bummer. I feel like I have new teeth and it's amazing how my bite feels so much better! Here's to no cheek biting and Dr.Jacob and staff!

Positive experience: Love this medical center. They have sliding scales and work around your schedule. There is an eye doctor, dentist, general practitioners, and a nutritionist. They even have counselors on staff for family or individual therapy.
Positive experience: I don't like some of the receptionists in the medical unit I would not mind if they got fired or quit. They are not professional and rude. I love the dentist receptionists and staff they are cool. Two of my medical doctors quit after me only seeing them once, so now I have another new doctor I hope.

Of care from the caring and professional staff. My health has improved and i have a happy smile i recommend chwc for all your health care needs.

Negative experience: What a terrible place. Appointments are cancelled on a whim, then a letter comes saying they're sorry you missed your appointment. Another time, an appointment was cancelled because of the doctor's family emergency by you don't find out until you left work early for that appointment. It's impossible to get through to talk to a receptionist to even make an appointment. If you have the patience or the time to wait till someone actually picks up then you're treated with an attitude for disturbing them. I don't know how those women have a job, any other office wouldn't deal with that type of customer service. Don't go there unless you truly have no other choice. They treat their patients like garbage and no one deserves that.
Negative experience: Here's a walk through of a typical visit to CHWC in Torrington (I was a patient there for several year until today): As you approach the door you're greeted by an overflowing bucket of cigarette butts. There is usually a person smoking outside too. Inside, you have to wait for a receptionist to finish her conversation on the phone or with her co-worker. The phones are ringing non-stop. The place smell like stale cigarette smoke, because a lot of the other patients smoke. Now you have to sit with them -the dregs of humanity- the Torrington white trash, meth head, toothless, scum bag, redneck folks that define Torrington. Or they're immigrants, probably illegal, hence not having insurance. And did I mention the smell? Does everyone in Torrington smoke? Now you have to wait at least 15 minutes past your scheduled appointment. I wouldn't mind so much, but unlike the other people here I have a job to get to. Two of them, actually. So my doctor visits usually went well, but let's talk about prescriptions. If you run out of refills, the pharmacy has to call you script in. If this is done on a weekend, forget about it. CHWC won't get it, or they will be so overloaded with phone calls they'll forget to send it. In their defense, CHWC does have signs saying don't wait for the weekend to call in your scripts. Now my PCP left (not that I blame her, having to deal with these low-lives), and I ran out of refills on my prescriptions. I contacted the pharmacy as usual. The next day, no meds. The following day, still no meds. So I called CHWC and asked them what's going on. They said one script was called in and the other wasn't because I needed to see a doctor in order to refill it. I told them no one told me my PCP left -I found out at the pharmacy- and the receptionist told me a letter was sent out but that's not true because I never got one. So they scheduled an appointment ONE WEEK LATER. I can't go off my meds this long. Technically I shouldn't even be off them 2 days like I was. I went to the pharmacy and they gave me THREE TABLETS to hold me over until my appointment, because they STILL hadn't gotten the script. So I called CHWC again and -after waiting 20 minutes to talk to someone- I had to request the script again. This time they sent it and it was actually filled. Meanwhile, I switched to a new medical facility in a different town. I called CHWC and cancelled my last appointment. Unfortunately, I still have to go to the dentist there. They are always trying to get me to see a periodontist and give me special cleanings AFTER they tell me my teeth are ok. What, do they get kick-backs? Maybe they're just surprised to get a patient who has all his front teeth, unlike a majority of the Torrington vermin who visit CHWC. If you have insurance, don't go to CHWC. It's a headache from beginning to end. If you have Husky you may have to go outside of Torrington but in my opinion, it's worth not having to deal with CHWC. Ghetto as hell. No wonder they now offer mental health services, you'll need it after dealing with this place!
Negative experience: The APRN I was seeing at this facility left and I was passed along to someone else. Before this person left they stated I should stay on the same dose for a medication. However, when I went to the pharmacy, it had not been called in. This was on a Friday evening, they weren't open that Saturday and I was leaving on vacation the next day. I called the next week for a prescription to be sent where I was staying, since I was going to run out before coming home, and the nurse said the new person would not do this without seeing me even though I had just been there the week before. They suggested I go to a walk in clinic which would have been out of network and completely out of pocket to get a new refill given to me that my medical records stated i needed. I spoke to the office manager who completely stated the obvious before I did that this would be an out of network expense and it didn't make sense to her either. She said she'd look into it and the head nurse or herself would get back to me that day. That was over a week ago! Very disappointing how this office is run seeing this is not the first issue I've had with them! They rush you out of the office and are walking out the door to their next appt before you can address all issues because they schedule too closely together. Welcome to government ran offices. Unreal!
Negative experience: You have to wait 30+mins just to get someone to pick up the phone. This is made more frustrating by that fact that when you go in the receptionists are not answering the constantly ringing phones because they are to busy talking about their co-workers about their weekend/friends/kids. Ive have to wait 10 mins at the reception window with a sprained knee before someone checked me in only to be waiting 40mins to get called because they skipped my name on the call sheet. They also have never called back with any blood work or X-ray results I've gotten even when a problem showed up. All in all I'm feed up and looking for another office.
Negative experience: Apparently the dental receptionist thinks she sets the schedule? Called to see a dentist due to an abcessed tooth, swollen face etc. she said there is no openings go to the ER if you think its an emergency? Really? All I need is a dentist to look at me for 2 mins and give me some antibiotics. then do some follow up after the infection goes away. I then asked for next available window for an appointment She sez july 6th? its now June 22nd? Steer clear of this place Seems like they are uncaring! My Doctor was Shocked that they didnt take me in? After seeing me for 10 seconds she persribed Antibiotics and mouth rinse and told me To Find another Dentist!

Negative experience: The phone lines are always busy you can never get through I've been calling all day allines busy This has been an ongoing situation with this facility it is impossible to call cancel appointment If you cannot make it believe this situation should be investigated
Negative experience: DO NOT GO HERE!!!! OFFICE STAFF IS HORRIBLE. On several occasions i got transferred around for a half an hour just to be transferred back to make an appointment. Also my nurse practitioner (which i was not all that impressed with) left the practice and they did not notify me so when i showed up for an appointment after taking time off of work it was like ummm hes not here any more would you like to make another appointment with someone else. I could go on forever with several more examples but i wasted enough of my time with these people. I just wanted to make sure i got a bad review out there because they deserve it.
