Fantastic experience: We recently had to make some tough decisions with our dog, and everyone there was incredibly kind and empathetic. It's the only vet clinic we have taken our dog into where he wasn't on edge the whole time as well for what that's worth.

Fantastic experience: I took my 6 pound Shih Tzu to get neutered from Dr. Smith at the clinic- I never had a doubt in my mind that my pup would be handled with the best care from all the employees. The procedure was quick and they called me to let me know exactly when I could pick him up. It’s been less than 24 hours and my dog is already up and acting normal again- Highly recommend this clinic for everyone!!!!!

Negative experience: Had an annual checkup last Thursday… mentioned that my dog wasn’t eating and to look at his teeth to see if they were clean… after $300 for lazy check up, a couple vaccines and a heart worm test I was brushing my signs teeth that night and noticed he had a cracked molar. I called as soon as they opened the next day (it took 4 times calling for them to answer)… they told me over the phone without looking at it that the cracked part of his tooth would just naturally fall out…??? I called another vet and they immediately took him in with open arms and extracted part of the tooth. I have 2 friends that have had similar experiences with Dr. Marc telling them that whatever is wrong with the pets, it’ll be fixed naturally… including a badly hurt knee on a dog and a cat’s tail that was exposing 3 inches of bloody bone.

Fantastic experience: The dr is super friendly & knowledgeable. Takes a conservative approach. The techs are kind and helpful. If your dog has pretty bad vet anxiety, this might not be the place for you. We did end up switching vets because our dog needed a lot of extra patience due to his fears of being there. Also, the costs were a bit high for us. A same-day sick visit costs quite a bit extra. But for a less-anxious dog, this would be a great place to go!

Fantastic experience: During her long and healthy life, our dog Jasmine could not have received better care than that provided by Dr. Marc Smith and the staff of NTVS. When it came time to lay Jasmine to rest a few weeks ago, the technician who assisted her transition was gentle, understanding, and genuinely loving - a true angel.

Negative experience: Waste. Dirty. Not like portrayed. Unprofessional. Also, Don't come to the vet with a sick dog, that needs to be looked at on the observation table in the patients room either, cause they won't care to do that. And, why should you have to tell the "vet" to properly look at places, that require being on their silver table to even see. Their place is dirty too, and I've never seen a business be that dirty. Expensive waste of time. But, they will try to sell you stuff that isn't required, as how would they know what the dog had if they didn't even look at the spot lol this place is a joke and I was in shock while seeing the "vet" from how he was so unprofessional, as I am very verbal lol, or I would of spoke up at the room I was in. I paid and left, and My dogs condition got worse. So, go to another vet and they simply gave an excellent job and said what My dog had, and he's doing better after the first day from the second vet. I first went to Natchez trace from it's claims from holistic and chiropractic work, but it's a scam and a joke and nasty and unprofessional and I had to hold My tongue while there. Natchez trace vet sucks and they don't care, literally, as if they did they would of showed it by actually looking at the place in the first place, properly, and not on the floor. They gave Me a med for 2 other things they said he had, which the other vet said it wasn't that, and the other vet had it being better after the first visit, and not worse like Natchez. I then also found the one med that Natchez tried to sell.Me would of made what he had worse. This place is a scam. Received no holistic or chiropractic anything either.! WthCould talk all day about the appointment at Natchez. Bye for now.

Fantastic experience: My Daisy girl was always so nervous to go to the vet's office over the years, but when we found Dr. Marc at Natchez Trace Veterinary Services, I think we both were relieved. Within minutes of Dr. Marc's presence, Daisy would be comfortable enough to lay flat on the ground and dose off while we talked about her health. I greatly appreciate the alternative options Dr. Marc has to offer and he is a wealth of knowledge paired with genuine compassion for our pets. Lastly, I will be forever grateful for his help at the end of Daisy's life - he went above and beyond. Thank you!

Fantastic experience: We are very fortunate to have found Dr. Smith. Our dog had severe breathing issues and after having been to several vets who gave us different diagnosis we lost hope that we would be able to save our pet. With very few options, we continued to search for help and were lucky to have found Dr. Smith. The day that we arrived at the office our pet could hardly walk, Dr. Smith performed an endoscopy to determine the cause of the breathing issue and afterwards performed a surgery to remove the obstruction. Although it was a complicated procedure, the results were outstanding. All of her issues were resolved after the surgery, and she has been given another chance at life. Dr. Smith worked with us closely and understood our needs. So happy we found you!

Fantastic experience: Dr. Smith has successfully treated three of my pets with extreme knowledge and concern. He has helped my dog to live with the pain of arthritis and overcome a knee injury with surgery. In the past his acupuncture treatments made aging bearable for my senior dog. He also treated my six week old kitten for pneumonia resulting in my awesome now two year old cat of today!

Fantastic experience: I have been going here the last couple of months the service by dr. Smith is exceptional he has taken great care of me and my pet. This is one of the few holistic and chiropractic services I could find .its a long drive for me but very worth it. My dog has had severe back issues and he has made my dog as comfortable as possible. He also has had great advice for feeding my pet more whole food, and making my own dog food. The time he's took with my many questions and being able to be in touch thru email if after hours has eased my mind during the harder times. I would recommend him to anyone looking for one on one counseling dealing with pet needs. His expertise has surpassed my expectations. Fantastic experience: We recently took our family dog, Peanut, to Natchez Trace Veterinary Services in Belle Meade for knee surgery in February. Peanut is a 3-year-old Mastiff. Peanut had fallen down steps, and two vets said she had a torn ACL. She couldn't even walk and would not get up from her bed. Several friends recommended Dr. Marc Smith at NTVS, who gave us his prognosis and the options. We ended up having Peanut's surgery performed at his clinic. We were very impressed with his knowledge and expertise as well as his integrity explaining our options and the realistic potential pros and cons. We were also impressed with the clinic staff and their communication with us and their interest in helping us. They emailed us information about Peanut's medical situation and the different options and surgeries available, and they kept us up to date on how Peanut was progressing through the surgery and after the surgery was over. Peanut is all better now, with no limp or sign of any problem! She is back to normal, walking, running and enjoying life! And acting like she never had surgery! We were very happy with the way the doctor and staff took care of Peanut. They treated her as if she were their own dog! I highly recommend Natchez Trace Veterinary Services for any type of veterinary care, and will continue to use them to care for our pets!

Fantastic experience: We have been going to Natchez Trace for several years now, and couldn't be happier! They are excellent in every way! They gave our senior Berner optimal & active golden years, with several treatments that worked wonderfully for her. Our 3-year old Berner (started with them as a 7-week old baby). and German Shepherd are happy customers, and actually love going to see Dr. Marc and his amazing staff! We just adopted another 8 year old Berner, and he did an incredible job in removing a growth in her eye. They never make us feel that we're being sold anything unnecessary or expensive (unlike several of our vets in the past). I have personally recommended them to at least a dozen friends and acquaintances without any hesitation, and will continue to do so!

Fantastic experience: Before meeting Dr. Mark Smith, I had a difficult time finding a vet I could relate to and trust with my animals’ health. I’m a horse trainer and horse owner. I look at animal care in the same why I approach training: A symptom (whether physical or behavioral) is a sign of an underlying problem. I am grateful to Dr. Smith because he doesn’t focus on making the symptom go away. He seeks the underlying cause and then works toward bringing the animal back into a state of health. I love his comprehensive and practical approach that includes the importance of diet, management, and exercise. I also appreciate that he has taken it upon himself to seek knowledge beyond his primary education and embraces a broad spectrum of modalities. Anything that adds tools to the tool belt is an advantage when it comes to diagnosis, treatment, and routine care, and in my opinion, is a testament to open-mindedness and a deeper level of understanding and caring. I turn to Dr. Smith when I need advice and help with my horses. I also happily recommend him to my clients.

Fantastic experience: I can’t recommend Dr. Smith and his staff enough! He saved our baby Maya years ago. The local vet just kept treating issues as they arose every few months which was so expensive but the first time we took her to Dr. Smith, the minute he saw her he said she had a thyroid issue! Of course once she got on her meds she was back to her old self, dropped a lot of weight and was healthy! He doesn’t over vaccinate and truly cares about all the pet babies. I will never take our pet babies anywhere else! We lost Maya last year but she lived longer than her breeds expected lifetime and that was all due to the care she received from Natchez Trace Veterinary Services. Our new baby Bella is a patient there now and loves going to see everyone, most importantly we trust them to always make the right decisions for their care. They are always in good hands. Fantastic experience: I can with confidence encourage pet owners to take your pets to Marc Smith, DVM, at Natchez Trace Veterinary Services. Dr. Smith is a sound, solid veterinarian for all of your pets’ veterinary needs. It’s clear to me that he genuinely likes my pets. Dr. Smith puts a great deal of effort into communicating with owners as well. He cares about what’s best for my family. He truly tries to determine what you as the pet parent want and need. In tackling complicated health problems, Dr. Smith doesn’t automatically bombard with a barrage of diagnostic tests but will judiciously determine a rational sequence of testing geared towards coming up with a treatment plan, first ruling out the most likely offenders. The support staff at NTVS is top notch. The front desk employees are professional, efficient, and friendly. The assistants and techs are pleasant and accomplished. There is a phone technician who is extremely knowledgeable and has been a great help to me on a number of occasions. I like that Dr. Smith is supportive of my desire to do vaccine titers whenever possible. Overall it is a comfortable and supportive environment. And I trust that my pets are receiving very good veterinary care.

Fantastic experience: We love Dr. Smith and the staff is always great as well. I come from a world of integrative medicine for my own personal healing which makes me appreciate the same for my animals and you just can't get the same care and advice with regular vets. I also had him do an ovary sparing spay on my cat who, the last time he saw her he kept raving about how unbelievably healthy she was. (Note: she is also indoor/outdoor and prefers to mostly stay outside,) but still having her ovaries/hormones is Dr. Smith says probably the reason she is so healthy. I love his chill vibe and mannerisms and not ever feeling talked down to. This place is amazing!

Fantastic experience: I have been a client of Marc Smith for many years and he’s seen me through routine and emergency care with all the pets I’ve had since 2002. He is so knowledgeable, offering helpful advice and diagnoses and getting us on the road to recovery quickly. He has tackled difficult and not-straightforward issues as well, never shying away from research and never giving up until we have reached resolution. He is genuinely kind and compassionate to all his clients, pets and owners alike. I truly don’t know what I’d do without Dr. Smith. I hope he knows how appreciated he is.

Fantastic experience: My only complaint about this place is sometimes the price is way higher then a regular Vet but you pay for quality so *shrugs* is what it is! Now personally Dr.Smith is the BEST Vet I’ve ever been to. #1 my older dog that’s very untrusting of men liked him!!! Makes Vet visits way less stressful. #2 He’s 100% for a complete raw fed diet which is great because surprisingly most Vets these days disagree which I don’t understand, raw is always healthier. #3 He’s done 2 teeth cleaning surgeries on my older dog with zero issues and has just done an Ovary Sparing Spay on my 10 month old female puppy with also zero issues! I love the fact that he even does the surgery. Most Vets these days have never done the surgery, where Dr.Smith already has many times before which made me confident that my furbabies were safe in his surgery room. 10/10 recommend :)

Fantastic experience: We took our dog here for years and always had a fantastic experience before having to say goodbye to our dog. I know we got extra years with our furry friend because of the care provided here. Dr. Smith always had multiple options for care, never ran diagnostics unless he knew he needed them, and was understanding of our finances. I've never met a vet or staff so willing to problem solve and look at the situation from every angle possible. The admin always responded promptly, showed our dog love and consideration every time she was there and helped out in every way possible. Highly recommend and cannot say enough nice things about the office!

Fantastic experience: We were extremely fortunate to find Dr. Marc Smith over 3 years ago when one of our dogs was diagnosed with idiopathic epilepsy. Our PREVIOUS vet recommended Keppra or Phenobarbital as treatment. When we researched these pharmaceuticals we found they reduce seizures in the short-term. However, seizures typically come back more intense and more frequently in the long-term which requires a higher dosage, leading to undesirable results. Thankfully, we found Dr. Smith while doing our research. Dr. Smith's approach was different and more holistic. He asked questions about any changes in food, meds, stress, etc that could trigger a seizure. He shared a study on idiopathic epilepsy and the use of MCT's to reduce seizures. Eventually he prescribed the Chinese herb, Di Tan Tang, which we've seen incredible results. Our dog will be 5 next month and since seeing Dr. Smith, he has had only 3 mild seizures in the last 3.5 years. We are so lucky and thankful to have Dr. Smith as our vet. Thank you so much!!!

Fantastic experience: I took my cat here to get spayed, and they did an amazing job with her. Dr. Smith and the rest of the staff were very caring and empathetic with her, and they took time before hand to get to know her. They got her scheduled quickly and set her up to have a comfortable recovery. I highly recommend this place to any pet owners!

Negative experience: Dr. Smith is the reason my dog passed away. After a period of MONTHS of negligence after trying to tell him something was wrong with my dog (and being told it was probably a minor reaction to stitches), he finally performed surgery. While he was in there, he realized how much he had messed up. She had cancer, and it had spread so much, he couldn't get all of the margins. He cut so much out of her that he sliced into her stomach, and either knowingly or unknowingly, sewed her back up. Her skin ended up not healing, they let her potty on herself in the kennel after I had taken her back the next day after she was not doing too well. They sent her home soaking wet, no bandages, and the cuts were HORRIBLE and leaking everywhere. We ended up taking her to BluePearl in Franklin where they said they had never seen such unprofessional work and she had gone septic. They saved her life and performed another surgery, just for us to later have to put her down because of his absolute negligence and inattention to detail. That's what killed my best friend, and I will never forgive this place for it. I hope NO ONE has to go through this because it was horrible. 0/5 recommend.

Fantastic experience: Where do I start? Natchez is the best! Why? I live in Houston and found Dr. Smith online. I called because my dog has cancer that they won't do surgery in Houston! I would be killing my perfectly healthy dog! She has cancer on her face. She is still healthy otherwise. He offered to not only do surgery (with risks and I'm well aware of them.) but, give her some herbs to help keep the growth to a minimal. We were going to Nashville to help our dog! We finally found a Dr. in Houston that will do the surgery here. (9 vet Dr. calls later.) I will forever thank Dr. Smith and his team. I know that we can't save them all but, Dr. Smith surely makes the decisions easier to decide. Whatever you do...give this vet a chance. I will be continuing herbal treatment through his organization.

Negative experience: I have seen first hand what this place has done to a dear friend of mine. I find it odd that this office failed to leave antibiotics out for a client when they told her they would. Even requiring her to drive 45 minutes after work when this medication could have been called in to a local pharmacy. And I know it can be called in because my Vet does it all the time. I feel that this office needs to to something right now make this right. This is unacceptable.

Fantastic experience: Just had an appointment with Megan Valentine, vet tek at Natchez Trace Vet Clinic. I thought she was excellent-compassionate and understanding and also extremely knowledgeable! I felt completely confident with her discussing my old kitty and his renal issues, and thought she did a great job! Hope to meet with her again in the future!

Fantastic experience: My wife and I used to use another vet in the area until both of our dogs developed problems that our previous vet couldn't resolve and chalked up to them being lazy. Our dogs, as most healthy animals, are not inherently lazy and so we started our search for another, more competent practice and have most certainly found that in Dr. Marc. In one visit he determined that our Lab had torn her knee and needed surgery and was able to preform it without a hitch. After seeing that I decided to take in my 7 year old Shepard mix to get his opinion and he immediately determined that she must have a Thyroid problem and started blood work and the medication. It has been a little over 2 months and she is back to her old self. Dr. Marc was able to take her from a dog that couldn't make it through a quarter mile walk without resting to a dog that actually plays with other dogs at the park. I honestly didn't know she was capable of still playing and now I have my best friend back and in pristine condition. He was a miracle worker for our dogs and we will never trust anyone else with their health again.

Negative experience: I thought that I had found a Veterinary Clinic where the Doctor and Staff were caring, reliable, and compatible due to holistic options. I am left disappointed and frustrated. I traveled with one of my animals 3 times, 7 hours round trip, twice for tumor removal over a 2 month period totaling $5,500.00. 4 weeks have passed as I wait for Dr. to follow-up on possible treatments available. During that time, I have made 2 calls to the clinic for answers. I am told each time that either Dr. Smith will call me back or a receptionist will call me back. I have received no return calls. In the mean time my cats tumor(3rd one) has grown from nickel to golf ball size and the other two tumors are growing back. Sadly, Another unreliable vet who either doesn't care or doesn't have 10 minutes to follow-up, again leading me to assume Apathy. Last resort, I have asked for a referral to local pet oncologist.

Fantastic experience: Words cannot express my gratitude to Dr. Marc Smith and his outstanding staff. Because of Dr. Smith's extensive knowledge and expertise, he successfully performed an extremely difficult and complex surgery, on my 12 year old cat, Tuxey, who had a paralyzed larynx, which is very rare in Cats. It was just heartbreaking, to see him struggling, to breathe. Just being able to perform this kind of intricate surgery, is a tribute to Dr. Smith's extensive knowledge, talent and expertise. Dr. Smith has given me hope, for my fur baby, to be with me longer. For this, I am eternally grateful. It is very evident, that Dr. Smith has so much compassion, sincerity and genuinely cares about pets and their pet parents.I truly believe this is his true calling, to help others. After surgery, Tuxey was hospitalized 5 days and continued receiving outstanding care, from the Veterinary Assistants, Margaret, Taylor and Alex, who cared for Tuxey, with much love and compassion. They called me every day, to let me know, how Tuxey was doing, which I greatly appreciated. A sincere thanks to Katie, the office manager, who is so kind and communicated regularly with me. My husband and I had a very heartbreaking situation with our cat and I’m so grateful this was the vet we chose to walk through the last few months of her battle with health issues, behavioral issues and having to get her put down. Fantastic experience: We live in Lubbock Texas and have our beagle with cancer, we have had two phone consults with Dr Smith now at this point. He is helping us tremendously with not just our dog who we are bringing to him for treatment (yes we will travel 1000 miles for him, we trust him that much), as he goes above and beyond in his recommendations and seems to be the only vet we have spoken with willing to try non conventional treatments, seeing as the alternative is she dies very soon according to the oncologist. He has helped us with supplemental treatments that can be mailed for her. Speaking with him you get this vibe that he genuinely truly cares about you and your dog, and that he is confident in what he knows and believes will help your pet, but he will not push anything on you that you are not comfortable with! I have never spoken with or met a vet that we trust to this level, and we have had vets that we like before. We just cannot recommend him enough, we credit his current protocol with keeping our cancer stricken baby as happy as she is now and she seems to be improving compared to a month ago! Fantastic experience: Went here today based on reviews in hopes of curing an issue that recently took the life of my Shepherds brother. I was thoroughly impressed. My normal vet is 2 minutes from me. I believe I’ll be taking all my dogs here now even though it’s an hour drive. Well worth it. If I’d known of this place sooner. We probably would still have our boy.

Fantastic experience: I can't even begin to say how grateful I am for Natchez Trace Veterinary Services. They have been so helpful and kind. My dog needed a huge surgery done, so I took him to Natchez Trace for a 2nd opinion. They looked at my dog for that 2nd opinion and weren't pushy at all. The Dr. even said since he isn't board certified on that type of surgery (but he does it all the time) he could refer me to someone else if I wasn't comfortable with him performing it. They saved me over $1000 by taking him to see them instead of the 1st Dr. I went to who was pretty insistent that I absolutely had to have their board certified surgeon. The staff is very friendly and has answered my numerous e-mails and calls thoroughly and without acting like I am a bother (believe me, I have a lot of questions and can usually only communicate through e-mail since I work during the day and can't make personal calls at work..so there's been A LOT of e-mail communication.) They're located about an hour away from where we live and they were even kind enough to mail me a prescription instead of me having to drive all the way to them just to pick it up. 5 stars is not enough for them- they deserve 10 stars out of 5. I would very easily and highly recommend them to anyone who asks. All 3 of my pups have been to them now. I just wish they were a little closer, but I'm very grateful and thankful to have found them for my Loki's surgery. Thank you Natchez Trace Veterinary Services!

Fantastic experience: My husband & I attended a Free Pet First Aid class on Apr. 16, 2014 at NTV. It was taught by Becky Dan & we both very much appreciated the way the class was taught, the location & everyone of the staff there were very friendly. Thank You so much for doing this so we can be better pet owners for Harley the Saint Bernard :) I will be referring everyone to you guys....thanks again! Update: It’s been awhile but I couldn’t post about this until now. On Apr 20, 2014, after we attended the First Aid class at NTV, our beloved girl, Harley, exhibited signs of Bloat. Because of being taught about this in the class I recognized what was happening & we had her to the vet within an hour. Unfortunately her body couldn’t make it through this & we lost her the next day. But without this First Aid Class I wouldn’t have known what was wrong & I would have so much guilt now! Thank you to NTV for helping me KNOW what was wrong so quickly!

Fantastic experience: Dr. Smith distinguishes himself from other veterinarians by offering treatments I can't find anywhere else. Currently, he is doing acupuncture to help make my elderly dog Ariel more comfortable. She is 15 and has arthritis. At her last session she fell asleep on the floor after the needles were put in. In her entire life, she has never been relaxed enough to fall asleep anywhere other than her bed. Acupuncture often relaxes dogs and it doesn't hurt them. He has also given additional options to help with her recurring ear, eye, and skin infections and they are clearing up already. He is also well-versed in herbs and will ALWAYS give you more options than any other vet. He is easy to reach and gives fast updates when he is caring for your pets. He will even give you his cell phone number in case you need to reach him outside of office hours.

Fantastic experience: I absolutely love bringing my cat to Dr. Smith and his team. He really takes time to listen to all of my concerns and issues with Lady. He spends time carefully examining her (even when she doesn't quite want to be there). Betsy and the other girls there are wonderful. They are beyond professional and also take that extra time to really give Lady the best quality of care. I know my pets (now and in the future) are in safe hands.

Fantastic experience: Two pets have had melanoma. Dr Smith took care of both of them. Our first pet had advanced stages that had already spread to his lungs. He was almost 17 so surgery and anesthesia was not an ideal option. Richie should have only lived for weeks but instead we had 5 more months with this guy. Our other dog had one caught early enough that we should have a lot more time with him. Same thing at 14 years old we did not want to be terribly invasive and we are very happy with our decision. Dr. Smith and staff were all amazing, we knew what was going on and Dr. Smith was very honest and open about our treatment options. We are very happy with our decision taking our pets to Dr. Smith for a holistic approach to care with a better quality of life.

Fantastic experience: We started seeing Dr. Smith when we couldn't get good answers or out of the box suggestions from our current vet. I wanted someone who was willing to look at alternative solutions rather than just doping my dog up. I have to say, as long as Dr. Smith is in practice, I will never go to another vet! He and his staff were a joy to work with, my girl loved going there, and he gave her some of the best overall weeks she had left in her life. He takes his practice as a true calling and I just don't know of any other vet that would go to the lengths he does to treat his patients.

Fantastic experience: Our dog was attacked by an off-leash dog at the park around 4:30 pm yesterday. In total crisis mode, we found the only vet in the area that was open on a snow day - Natchez Trace. We called in a panic, and Dr. Smith and the staff at Natchez Trace told us to come on over even though they were closing for the day. They welcomed us in, listened to our story, and made sure our pup was alright. We were amazed by how kind they were and are so thankful for their advice and willingness to see us at the end of the day even though we're not current clients. Our pup was eating treats and wagging his tail again by the time we left. Would 10/10 recommend Natchez Trace Veterinary to anyone in the Nashville area! Thank you, Dr. Smith!

Fantastic experience: I just moved into town and was recommended Dr. Smith by a friend who had a great experience with her dog. I find his staff to always be warm and patient with my millions of questions, and Dr. Smith to be thorough and very knowledgeable. My dog is older and has been showing early signs of Degenerative Myelopathy. Dr. Smith recommended medicine that I had yet to discover in my hours of internet research. We immediately put Bella on them and I notice a slowing of progression in her disease. He is also just very patient with me even though I always ask him the same things over and over again. He seems to really take a holistic approach. I came in with a variety of meds and supplements that Bella was put on by my previous vet and asked his opinion on whether or not I should stay with them, or use things that he sells in his office. He did not try to up-charge me or get me to switch to products that he offered. He offered his honest opinion on the efficacy of each thing and helped me narrow down what I had in order to do the best for Bella without breaking the bank. It was obvious he was interested in what was best for her, not making all the money he could off of a nervous dog mamma. Thanks Dr. Smith and your amazing staff for making Bella and I feel so welcome and helping us in a very difficult time :)

Fantastic experience: A friend recommended Dr. Smith, who helped treat her dog with cancer. She said he was the kind of vet who would really look at your pet and tell you what HE would do for his own animal if it were him, not just recommend another test and another test. That was what I needed. My dog had stopped eating and lost 20% of her bodyweight. I had tried everything, nothing was working, and she was wasting away. I had done several tests that showed nothing, and my old vet was recommending more expensive tests. I hoped that Dr. Smith would be honest in his assessment, and I was willing to follow whatever was best. He poked around, looked at her teeth, and listened closely to her history, then recommended a simple shot, a $5 OTC medication, and a few courses of action I could take at home, rather than $1100 in dental work or an expensive ultrasound. He put me at ease that I didn't have to panic, and we could always do those tests later if this didn't work. But it did. She went home and ate for the first time in months, and has eaten every day since. Once again, he didn't recommend I come back in again and again for expensive follow-ups, he just said to call if anything changed and we would keep working at it. So far so good. I can't thank Dr. Smith and his team enough for being kind, straightforward and honest,. which is what I needed! Cheers to progress and peace of mind.

Fantastic experience: My experience with Dr. Smith and his staff restored my faith in taking my dog to the vet. In fact, it was the caring attitude of one of his staff over the phone that first hooked us when we called their clinic. I became increasingly less satisfied with my previous vet, a place with whom I had done service for years and spent thousands of dollars. When my miniature schnauzer went through a rough experience following an extended stay at that same vet, they did not have on hand what was needed to treat him. They basically said they could not find it, and they wouldn't administer it even if I found it with another vet. I called around until I found someone who had what my dog needed and Natchez Trace Veterinary Services had the drug at their Franklin location. Dr. Smith even brought the drug to his other location because it was closer to where I live. In addition, Dr. Smith gave my wife and I a long consultation and good suggestions about how to treat my dog the first time we visited the clinic. I had grown accustomed to being run through an array of expensive tests when I felt certain they were not necessary. With Dr. Smith I did not feel that pressure. He had commonsense suggestions based on his experience and he treated my dog from that angle. In addition, Dr. Smith treated my other schnauzer who had developed pancreatitis, and based on a very simple natural diet which he suggested, I believe that is what brought her back. Dr. Smith has also been very kind to call in prescriptions without ordering further tests when it's obvious that the dog is doing fine with the meds that he is on. In particular I appreciated his straightforward and honest approach: "If he were my dog I would do this…" I believe it when he says that and that's why I would recommend his services to anyone.

Fantastic experience: Took my english bulldog boozer to this vet. Found out he ha pnuemonia. They were very helpful and told me my options, and even told me that i didnt need to spend the extra money on getting xrays. With other vets its the other way around. Will be taking boozer back here from now on, im very satisfied with the service we recieved.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Marc has done wonders to help my dog! It is difficult to find a doctor who is well-trained in Prolotherapy much less a veterinarian who uses this wonderful treatment modality. I saw firsthand how much Prolotherapy was able to help my human patients with damaged joints, stubborn arthritis, and ligament tears. When my dog tore his ACL I knew I didn't want to subject him to the reconstructive surgery for a second time. He had surgery to reconstruct his other knee 2 years ago and the results were okay but he still has pain. The recovery period for reconstructive surgery is quite lengthy and there is a significant risk of injuries to both the repaired knee and the other knee during the rehab process. I felt that Prolotherapy would give him a much less invasive procedure that would support his body's healing process especially in combination with the acupuncture. We have just completed the fourth series of injections but I saw improvements from the very first round. There is now stability in his joint and he is able to walk and stand on it without significant pain. He spends much of his time in my office and even my patients remarked on how much happier he looked and how much easier he got around after that first session and he has just continued to improve each time. I am thrilled with his results. He had such good results with the newly injured knee that we also did a round of injections for his surgically-repaired knee to see if that will help reduce his pain there as well. I had already seen how acupuncture in combination with Prolotherapy worked in people and my experience with my dog has showed me that it works just as well in combination in animals as well. As a licensed acupuncturist I was impressed with Dr. Marc's knowledge of Acupuncture & Eastern Medical Theory. His staff is wonderful and very knowledgeable. I highly recommend him and his clinic for anyone seeking an alternative to traditional treatments that can be very hard on an animal's body. The Nashville Community is lucky to have him, we drive 2 hours just to come see him.

Fantastic experience: I brought my German Shepherd to Dr. Smith a few months ago and was very pleased. I could tell a difference just walking into the waiting room. Everything was much more calm then our previous vet and I could see how much more calm my dog was because of it. Dr. Smith was great! He was very personable and listened when I talked. I was also pleased to find a vet that wanted to find the root of my dogs problems instead of just medicating. We were even able to clear up his problem with natural remedies.
