Fantastic experience: Dr. Rupa Goolsby has been my Gyn MD for about 30 years. Her expert services and kindness are one in the same. I am saddened to see her retire, but she has served the Birmingham area well and deserves a wonderful retirement. May God bless her and her family.

I did switch from Dr. Goolsby to Dr. Benton bc I liked her a lot when she delivered my youngest plus she goes to the Gdale office once a week which is convenient. (Dr. Goolsby delivered my 12 yr old) Looking forward to next appt at the new office!

Negative experience: I do not recommend this OBGYN at all. For one, the doctor's nurse line never picks up the phone no matter when you call. You always have to leave a message and they take sometimes days to get back to you. If you can't answer then you need to keep playing phone tag until you can answer. They won't keep trying to contact you. The said they were in network with my insurance when they actually were not. When I found out, they said they recently got dropped by my insurance but never informed me of this and continued to take my insurance card when I went in, as If they still accepted it. The staff kind of treats you like cattle. My new OBGYN is extremely nice and personable, nothing like this one. I highly reccomend going somewhere else.

Fantastic experience: Always kind and compassionate care. Rapid response and follow up of any abnormal tests. Care truly centered around the patient. Portal is easy to navigate and see results. Highly recommend their group. I’ve know Dr Goolsby for 30 years and trust her with my life!!

Fantastic experience: I have seen a couple different doctors in this office but my favorite person I’ve seen here is Valentina Folse. I was able to schedule my appointment and get in very quickly and she did not seem to be in a rush compared to the other doctors here I had previously seen and answered all of my questions. I will definitely be rescheduling with her in the future ! Staff is very nice.

Negative experience: A gynecological exam is the most vulnerable a woman can be. I've been a patient of Dr. Benton for years, and have never been treated with such callous disregard during that time. Until today. The condescending tone, lack of respect, and general disdain for my feelings left me speechless. My issues were addressed with a mocking and contemptuous tone, with a smile and an attitude of jocularity (as if i were the butt of a private joke, that only she knew the punchline).

Fantastic experience: Dr. Johnson is an excellent OB/GYN, and his staff is very personable and caring. I love his practice.

Negative experience: They were really really good to begin with but my last two times being here I have literally sat in their waiting room for over an hour and I was at least 10-20 minutes early both times.. I understand what’s going on..

Negative experience: This Office Is Very Unpleasant, OBGYN ASSOCIATES IS HORRIBLE They Have Poor Leadership & THE WHITE PEOPLE ARE RACIST TO BLACKS AT THIS OFFICE & OVERALL I DONT RECOMMEND THIS OFFICE TO ANYBODY AT ALL BIRMINGHAM OBGYN IS SO MUCH BETTER WHEN IT COMES TO CARING FOR WOMEN.

Negative experience: My obgyn's office sent me my annual paps results in an envelope and didn't even care to close it. No tape or glue on it. It has my full name, birthdate, address and results. How is this acceptable? Last year I never got my blood results and I was told they were mailed to me.

Fantastic experience: Dr. William Johnson's staff is fantastic. Especially Abby Farrar, the Surgery Scheduler/OB Coordinator. She has gone over and beyond to assist me with my FMLA paperwork. She was friendly, prompt, patient, and professional. In addition, she made my recovery time easier by ensuring that she kept me updated on the status of my documents. Also, Abby took the initiative and completed some forms herself. She is a benefit to the OBGYN Associates of Alabama's team.

Negative experience: I live in Alabama now. But I’m from Mississippi. I spoke with the obgyn I had in Tupelo, MS. They gave me specific instructions on what to do to get my old files. They kinda blew me off in Alabama. Needless to say, I have yet another abnormal pap after a history of that and biopsies and I’m just really tired of being tortured with these biopsies. So, here I have the results of yet an abnormal pap, and no one will answer or call me back for the yet another biopsy. It’s been weeks. I know there are people that may embellish their history, but then there are people that wouldn’t. Listen more, joke less. No one knows their body and history more than the patients themselves. It’s worth it to listen.

Fantastic experience: Absolutely love my Dr. and the staff. He has always had my best interest at heart. I have been going there for over 30 years and the drive of 2 hours is worth it because of the care I receive.

Fantastic experience: I found out yesterday, 12/7/22, that I had an ectopic pregnancy and needed surgery that day. The OR couldn’t get me in until later that night. Dr. Goolsby did my surgery. She is not my normal OB but I have been using the practice for 16 years with Dr. Benton who I also love and who showed compassion yesterday but she was unable to do my surgery. Goolsby also really impressed me. She came out late to do my surgery, was kind and compassionate and listened as well as answered any questions that I had. She also called me today, the day after the surgery, to see how I was feeling and make sure the pain medicine was doing me good. She is very caring and compassionate and I was very impressed. Both her and Benton I love and have no complaints!

Negative experience: St.Vincent sounds good but its horrible receptionist was very nice but I set an appointment for 2:45 wasn’t seen till 5:00. I suggest if you have plans don’t worry about going scheduling you’ll be late for any other plan’s schedule. Also MAs and Dr don’t care to waste your time. I consider UAB they are very organized

Fantastic experience: Dr Goolsby is an excellent Dr. She was very detail oriented to my needs. After 17 years of no hormones, due to a hysterectomy, she explained in detail what I could expect with hormone replacement therapy. Excellent staff all around!!!

Fantastic experience: Dr. BENTON is my absolute favorite. She is down to earth and straight to the point, i love that.

Negative experience: If you are looking for a gentle doctor, do not use Dr. Johnson. I am a survivor, and Dr. Johnson would know that if he would let you speak without interrupting you. Also, if you're not actively trying to have a baby, you do not want this man touching you. After my routine appointment, I was left shaking and crying, I"ve never experienced an exam without the doctor telling me what they were about to do/doing. He never once explained to me he was about to touch me or anything. I physically spread my legs apart, in such an abrupt manner that my hip popped. I also never experienced soreness after a routine Pap smear. I am praying that no other woman has to experience what I did with Dr. Johnson. It's very interesting to me that he has been practicing for decades, but I can only find 13 reviews for him. The state board needs to hear about this man. I hope I can heal and recover enough to be able to find a new doctor I can go to and establish some sense of trust.

Fantastic experience: I had laparoscopic surgery to remove a complex cyst. From the first call to being wheeled out after surgery, I felt so incredibly cared for. I found out about my complex cyst about 3 weeks before I had it removed. Everywhere I called, doctors could not see me until a month or two later, and there was great fear that the Cyst would burst before then. But this group got me in immediately. From the first call to them to surgery, only a week and a half passed. Truly such a BLESSING and practically a miracle. Regarding the team, I loved everyone, which goes to say something because I've worked in 5 Star hospitality for 7 years and have a strong opinion on customer service. The front desk receptionist was super kind & put me right at ease with her warmth & fun jokes. Abby, who did my scheduling, was so sweet & very efficient. Jennifer, the head nurse, was fast to respond to emails & calls. I was impressed with how quickly she replied knowing she is also full time working with patients & doctors. Cheryl, who prepped me for surgery, was very fun & got me ready quickly. Kristen in out patient surgery was so thoughtful & kept checking on me as I woke up. I believe her name was Nurse Janice, also in out patient recovery, was wonderful! She helped me dress & wheeled me out to my car. Dr. Johnson is PHENOMENAL!! He made me feel such at ease with the whole surgery process. He is amazing at what he does. I know several other woman who see him as their doctor, & everyone adores him. So thankful for this team! Thank you!

Fantastic experience: Dr Johnson is wonderful, both as an OB and a gynecologist. He's ushered me through two pregnancies, one high risk (triplet birth) and made sure that both I and my babies were healthy, including house calls when coming to the office threw me into premature labor. The practice is caring and thoughtful and gets you in and out as quickly as possible. Mammograms and ultrasounds can be done in the office so you don't have to make separate appointments.

Fantastic experience: Dr Benton is so wonderful! I’ve been seeing her since 2010. She helped me through a miscarriage and two full term babies via c-Section. She’s spunky, uplifting, knowledgeable, comforting and her staff is always so welcoming and kind. They have an amazing portal that just makes every appointment so easy. I would recommend them to everyone!

Fantastic experience: Have been smitten with the whole faculty & family of OBGYN Associates of Alabama for 20 years... Dr. Goolsby is the bees knees, as is the rest of the champion crew. I just recently had to tango with the mammogram technicians, and they handled every stage of evaluation with such friendliness & finesse. And a special shout-out to ASHLEY & the rest of the billing department! My saving grace, that girl. She was so competent, quick, & kind. Five stars is a massive understatement!

Negative experience: I’ve had 2 babies delivered by doctors from this office. I’ve been going to this office for over 10 years. But after today’s visit I will not be going back. Dr Benton laughed at me when I asked about a legitimate issue I have and still am having. So I swapped to Dr Scogins. I’ve seen her twice. The first time she gave me hope this last visit she was brief, refused to give me a referral she had mentioned at my previous appt, refused to do blood work. And basically told me there is no hope and nothing I could do. She couldn’t even recommend a therapist to help me cope with the disappointment she just dealt me. This doctors office is all about making money. So if you aren’t pregnant or giving birth, they don’t care about you.

Negative experience: Dr. Goolsby was absolutely the worst doctor i’ve ever met! She ignored every question and concern I had. I told her I wanted to start trying to get pregnant soon and she offered birth control to me twice! I’m honestly quite repulsed by her actions. I will never again go to her or obgyn of alabama!

Negative experience: Originally wanted Dr. Golsby but she wasn’t available so they have me Dr. Scoggin. At my first visit, I was told my iron was low & was prescribed iron pills. My body rejected them & once they were notified her nurse kept telling to attempt taking the pills in different ways. She did that for a week after Dr. Scoggin said if I couldn’t take them I would need infusions. The nurse finally said they’d give me a referral for infusions & didn’t send over my medical records. Went back today after Sawyer told me I would see the baby today. Asked her about it & she was wrong. She decided to slam the door & go talk about me right outside the room I was in. Dr. Scoggin came in the room & we asked her about my hemoglobin levels being so low. She then attempted to tell me that they weren’t at the number I said they were in & to show her proof, which was in my chart originally. Wouldn’t recommend her as a OB/GYN, especially if it’s your first pregnancy. Appointments were always super rushed & she never took any time to explain anything to you. She literally would come in the room & ask if you had cramps then listen to the babies heartbeat then the appointment was over.

Fantastic experience: Love this facility and staff! Never had a bad experience. It is always very clean and the staff are amazing. Dr. Johnson and Dr. Scoggin are both wonderful doctors who took very good care of me and my fist baby in the height of the pandemic. I have used Dr. Johnson for a few years now and love him and his nurses. They are very quick to call back and answer any question or concerns you may have. Never had a bad experience and will continue to use them in the future.

Negative experience: I have been seeing Dr. Foster and he is wonderful, but his appointment schedulers (or lack there) of are terrible. I have tried on 6+ different occasions to speak to someone and get an appointment and also filled out my information on their website to contact me and no one did. I wanted to stay with my doctor because I trust him for when I have kids in the future, but due to not being able to get an appointment I am having to change offices. Someone needs to get some control over this problem.

Fantastic experience: I have used Dr Foster for about 20 years. He is very knowledgable and caring. He takes time, after each exam to sit down in his office and go over everything, asking questions and explaining.

Negative experience: I would absolutely give zero stars if I could. The office staff is horrible, Melissa in particular. The doctors are even worse they don’t care about you or your baby. Please go anywhere but here. Also, the office is dirty and they do not wash their hands.

Negative experience: I'd give zero stars if I could. I went back in December for my annual which is suppose to be covered by my insurance and was charged $65 even when a normal copay is $40. I had them run some tests which cost me close to $400 and had the same test run by a walk in clinic just months later and never received a bill for it. I was told by the walk in clinic someone with their office probably coded it wrong which is why I received a bill. While there we discussed birth control options and Gardasil (which is something they have pushed both times I have been there). While I was interested in both I asked about cost and what insurance might cover, etc and was told she wasn't an insurance guru and I would have to contact my provider and get back with them. This was upsetting because I was being sold something I both wanted and needed but yet could not be told what it would cost and would have to come back and pay another copay once I figured that out. Not to mention I had coworkers that have gone to other medical professionals for various reasons and they have never had an issue with someone letting them to know what to expect with or without insurance. Any questions I had I felt were met with luke warm interest about as equivalent as a shoulder shrug. While I know the ultimate decision is left up to myself I asked for opinions based on their expertise and knowledge and got little to nothing in return. My pap smear came back abnormal and the medicine that was called in seemed to only give symptoms versus relieving any which I never had to start and ended up having to go to the walk in clinic for them to prescribe me something to get rid of it. I returned the other day for an unrelated issue and the staff, as usual, was unwelcoming. It reminded me of going to the DMV where you pull a number and wait to hear "Next". After I gave the reason for my visit to 2 different people I can hear them in the hallway discussing what to me is a very private situation and it was a busy day so I know other patients could hear them which only added to the embarrassment, stress and anxiety I was already feeling. After my examination I was again given options for treatment and Gardasil was pushed (which, once again I would have been all for) but was told they could not check to see what my insurance would cover and would need to contact my provider to find out and return if I decided to go with that option. The PA looked down at her watch at one point making me feel like she didn't have time to spend with me to answer questions. In those situations you don't always know what to ask and I know they see the same thing day in and day out but we as patients don't so I don't feel like it's a lot to take the time to educate your patients on what they are facing. I shouldn't have to learn more from google than I do from my healthcare professional. At the end of it all the medicine was never called into my pharmacy. I made a trip to pick it up to find out they had not received it and when I called the following morning to check the office told me it had not been sent over but they were doing so then. I asked if they could send it to one closer to me and was told I could call the pharmacy and have them transfer it. I called the pharmacy later in the day to check and still no prescription and their office has already closed. I will not be returning and my advice to anyone who is seeking a facility that is warm, welcoming and nonjudgmental and a doctor who listen and cares for you to find somewhere else to go other than here.

Fantastic experience: OBGYN Associates of Alabama has a great staff and doctors. Recommend going here for all you OB/GYN needs. You cannot go wrong!

Negative experience: 2/10/2020 I called Dr. Rupa Goolsby office and spoke with Jill. I explained that I understand that Dr. Goolsby normally does not see patients who are expecting until they are 8 weeks but the ER physician I saw 2/9 advised that because I had been experiencing bleeding and the ultrasound still showed some bleeding, I needed to be seen within 1 or 2 days. Jill told me that Dr. Goolsby doesn’t like to see patients until they are 8 weeks along. She then went on to tell me that there is really “nothing that we can do”. Jill asked “Well the ER doctor said everything is okay, right?” I told her, “NO. He did not. He told me that I needed to be seen within 1 to 2 days and that is why I am calling now.” Jill said, “Well I just don’t want to put this in and Dr. Goolsby wonders why I scheduled this and your just 7 weeks.” Jill told me that she could add me to the calendar to be seen on 2/14 because then I’d be “at the end of my 7th week”. I was able to be seen by a doctor with Sparks & Favor at Brookwood Medical who worked me in with no problem. They explained to me that for some doctors, the standard is 8 weeks gestation BUT advised when a patient is having complications such as mine, they are treated as a priority. If you want to be treated with care and consideration, do NOT go to Dr. Rupa Goolsby clearly she nor her staff truly care. Don’t allow her to get 10 months of money from your health insurance company when she clearly does not truly care.

Negative experience: Great doctors, but the support staff are absolutely horrific. All the way from the nurses to the administrative staff, ESPECIALLY the office manager Melissa. SO rude, judgemental, hypocritical, and down right uncaring and insensitive. It completely undermines the doctors' compassionate care and dedication to treat women's specific health needs throughout each phase of their lives...Saddest part? It is the gang of hypocritical femininazis who are ruining every good and ethical belief the practice was built upon.

Fantastic experience: I have used Dr. Benton for more than 5 years and she is awesome, she was amazing through out my entire pregnancy and then post par-tum care, she has always be very honest about anything i may need to do as far as my health is concerned.
