Negative experience: My first time meeting her..The doctor was rude. When people come to these places for the first time, feeling embarrassed and probably at their lowest, you should at least be kind. I asked her for her name again so I can write it down she responded “you know my name because you booked an appt with me” then proceeds to tell me “they’ll give it to you at the front desk” I was shocked at the unprofessionalism. Like she really didn’t tell me her name. When I filled out the online info and they called to set an appt with me NO ONE said a name, they just told me my appt time and date. How was I suppose to know this was one persons clinic or anything? That was very rude. I didn’t want to go back.

She goes to bat for her patients to get them what they need and this has helped me move something that was really starting to take a toll on my health that I was not able to move with past practice due to my perimenopause. I am so thankful. She has a great nutritionist on staff, Rena. who has given me insights on the latest research around eating and nutrition! The rest of the staff is pleasant and encouraging.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Kathawa is excellent! She has been the only physician to give me hope in my weight loss journey. She listenened to me and my overall concerns. Then she diagnosed my issues with weight gain & loss and has me on a regimen that has allowed me to lose stubborn weight my general practitioner said I was unlikely to lose! Her staff have been amazing and most helpful. I might also mention that she was recommended by a weight loss surgeon who informed me that he didn’t think surgery was necessary! I have so much thanks for his referral and to Dr. Kathawa and her staff.

Negative experience: Don't waste your time. I was referred to Dr. Kathawa and from the very beginning she was prescribing meds that wasn't needed per my PcP. While my Dr. Was on vacation I began having serious stomach pains. During my appt. W/ Kathawa she asked me to show her where the pain was. That's ur gallbladder I'm sending u for an ultrasound. I go for the test it's sent to Dr K. While waiting for my test results I was in so much pain. I kept calling her office to let them know I was in to much pain to come in for my test results and could she just tell over the ph due to my pain. They kept saying she'll call you back this went for weeks. My pcp finally was back frm vayca and saw my test results immediately called and said get to an Er now. Fast forward when I was better I asked her why did she do that to me her response was no need to bring it up now it's over. I said I could've died. I wouldn't refer a dog to Kathawa

Fantastic experience: After 5 years of trying diets like GOLO, intermittent fasting, starvation, and so on.. I finally tried 2mg of Ozempic every week for 6 months and GAINED 8 lbs!!! Exasperated, I went to see Dr. Kathawa and have lost 35 lbs in about 5 months! If you have tried everything and are stuck with no place to go. GO HERE!

Negative experience: Extremely poor service by the doctors. Staffs are nice. I selected Dr Kathawa my primary care physician and at my first visit I was surprised. She did not even touch me. Ask two questions, why am I seeing her, and gave me a referral to another doctor for one of the issue. She totally spent about 3 minutes in the room, then gone. I ate in the morning and asked if I need to come back in fasting for proper sugar levels check. The doctor said no needed. I thought I will give it another chance. In my next visit the doctor shows her real face. This time also she did not check my lung ( through breathing) . I was mentioning about my hair health and she looked at my hair from 6 feet away and suggested that I take 12 biotin shot from her office, 40 dollar each. Within a minute the MA walked in with the shot, but I didn’t want to take the shot right way and requested that they does the blood test first to see any vitamin deficiency is the reason for my hair issues. The MA went back to the doctor and she jumped from other room to my room and was furious why I rejecting biotin shot. After receiving my blood test results there were no biotin deficiencies in me. Very unprofessional, disrespectful doctor. Don’t listen to patients issues and rushes patient to patient. She has a mix of weight loss patient and insurance patient, so even if she sees more than 20 patients an hour she is still fine. I am changed my pcp. And would never recommend any of my friends or family to her.

Negative experience: Dr. Kathawa is the absolute best! UPDATE; That is what I said a year ago. That is what I thought after several months of being her patient: Today (10/21/2022) (OMG) my experience was greatly different and extremely disappointing. After arriving at my appointment promptly and waiting nearly 30 minutes to see her, I decided to quietly leave and reschedule. Not a big deal. What knocked my socks off was when Dr. Kathawa discovered I was leaving, her behavior was 100% she could care less. She didn’t even bother to ask why. She simply asked to be directed to the next patient. She did not even bother to acknowledge my presence. Yes I was stunned. Not angry … Stunned! I could not leave the premises fast enough. Heart racing, anxiety on 100! Dr. Kathawa thank you for showing me your stripes before I made the grave error of making you my primary. I honestly thought you were better than this! Prospective patients, there was simply no reason for her to treat me with such callous disregard. So if it hasn’t happened to you yet, you may not want to take the chance and receive the disappointment I received this morning. I’m stunned! I will never step foot at 41400 Dequindre again!
