Negative experience: I visited this hospital for a panic attack that i thought was a possibility heart attack. I received all of the bells and whistles that go with possible heart issues, EKG, blood work ect. The service wasn't bad. Obviously when you come in for a cardiac issue any hospital will rush you to a room. The room was clean, however the blood pressure sleeve smelled like a dead body, my fiance had to use the cleaning wipes in the room to remove the stench, it clearly wasn't cleaned previously. But that is not my reason for the 1 star. This place is highway robbery, the bill after insurance was $1200 and they wouldn't offer to settle, i dont know how hospitals expect people to pay outrageous costs, especially in this economy. My advice to you is, dont visit this place unless you are literally dying. If you can wait to get a normal doctor visit, do that! Emergency hospitals are a complete rip off, they dont have price transparency. And their job is to rack up the price...

Fantastic experience: I received excellent care at Three Rivers Health - from the ER staff to all the nurses, medical staff (phlebotomy, etc) and food services staff too - I was very happy with the quality of care and top notch staff. I was in the hospital for one week and am very thankful for the great care I received. A+++

Negative experience: We came in this hospital multiple times we even talked to the manager about the surgeon that did the surgery on my mom that resulted in her having an infection and her having to be rushed to the er in Kalamazoo , the damage was done in this exact hospital, nothing was done about this issue but instead we have to figure stuff ourselves

Negative experience: My wife came here for a scheduled imaging and we waited for almost an hour. I contacted the front desk and they said the kiosk didn't put her in. They then registered her and said they would be right out to get her. Still waited another 15 minutes. I really thought this place would improve with Beacon, but no, it's worse. We will no longer be using this place. We have filled out many surveys explaining our experiences and complaints but it has never made a difference. If I could give a negative star I would. Whoever is the CEO, they should be fired. Three Rivers needs a good hospital but, if they don't improve, more and more will quit using them and they'll lose so much money it will close. That would be sad and hurt the community. I doubt this review will make a difference but I'm hoping just maybe it might. There are so many bad reviews i can't believe things aren't better.I see the hospital usually responds with can they contact you to discuss it. I say no, if you can't better things by looking at all the bad reviews, a phone call won't help you to understand. Please try and do better for our community! A lifelong resident!

Negative experience: I brought my 9m old son in to be seen because his breathing started terrifying me. He threw up 5 times on the way to the hospital and wasn’t able to keep anything down. His breathing then started acting up which is what made me bring him here in the first place. We had told the front desk last that he was having difficulty breathing which is when she summoned the nurse Vicki. She didn’t check my son at all to make sure he was okay and breathing better. She then came proceeded to say she’d be with us shortly which turned into us waiting about 40 mins. We waited about 40 mins before we were triaged and Vicki the nurse hardly examined him. We then brought up that we took him to urgent care earlier during the day and they had found nothing and she had a complete attitude about it and said “well that would’ve been nice to know in the first place.” I do NOT reccommend bringing your child here if you have an emergency or any serious concerns with your kiddo. They do not care unfortunately.

Negative experience: Came here waiting 3-4 hours just to be told my shoulder is fine and I only have tendinitis after the nurse feels my shoulder and can hear the bone grinding and popping in and out, and then comes to the conclusion that I only need ibuprofen and ice when I cannot raise my arm.

Negative experience: Absolutely the worst hospital around here, they do absolutely NOTHING for you and then expect you to pay thousands of dollars! After you pay the thousands of dollars and they send you a paper saying you have paid in full they’ll try and take more money from you by saying you owe them even more. Negative experience: Waited 2.5 hours to get to the back for a room....get in the room, the nurse says the doctor will be right in.....1.5 hours later my 8 year old says I think they forgot about me, can we go to a doctor that cares.....the only person treating us as people was the security guard. I was in a room and saw everyone coming and going. The room was disgusting as well. Looked like the sheet hadn't been washed in days. Never again! I will drive from Sturgis to Kalamazoo from now on. Hospital is a joke.

Negative experience: AVOID AT ALL COSTS. You won't get treated right. In fact you won't get any treatment at all for the amount of hours you have to wait just to get in back. Even then waiting for the doc at this place is even more time consuming. I went in last night for a massive migraine. Waited 4 hours just to get in back. Finally in back I woke up to a nurse yelling at a patient. Talk about unprofessionalism. And I waited another 2 hours before I had enough. I walked out. Do NOT waste your time at that hospital. Insurance or not, they milk it out. I can't believe how quickly this place has went down hill. They use to be good..... I would recommend dying in your car with dignity before coming to three rivers hospital.

Negative experience: Since Beacon took over service is rotton. Feel sorry for the staff their getting blamed for the changes. You get texts every day just saying Three Rivers then they send a statement ten days later. I don't respond to text that I don't know where they come from. Sham on Beacon Health, so glad I'm not using their doctors.

Negative experience: Took my son for a foot injury check in 1 hr later X-ray went back out to lobby people that checked in just before us got in then other people came in after us went called to go back 4 hours later still not called back got a little excited about this was told to leave son stayed 20 minutes later I called son he said nothing yet I told him we were leaving when he came out he told me there were other people complaining they had been there for over 3 hours left went to Sturgis Hospital ER checked in got in almost right away X Rays Dr checked out have paperwork to sign got crutches and ice packs before we left there were 2 more people came in from TR ER complaining so it just wasn’t us having problems with them Thank You Sturgis ER and TR ER needs to stand back and see what the hell is going on

Negative experience: To put it nicely, the receptionist at the front desk is a massive condescending prick. She didn’t help anyone that needed the assistance, when we tried to go see my brother, she refused to believe we came in with him at all. (This happened twice.) It took about four hours just for them to say my brother was dehydrated and didn’t take the time to explain anything. (He had lost multiple pints of blood) I deeply recommend avoiding this place as they do nothing to take care of their issues.

Negative experience: The hospital wanted the money up front for a service, and we paid. Then The insurance negotiated the price down. The insurance then sent us a bill for another 1900 dollars, which we had already paid 2196. The insurance had negotiated the price so we would only have to pay 524. The hospital overcharged us 1672.63, and I have been waiting for reimbursement for 6 months. They have gave me and my insurance the run around. This is so frustrating and very unprofessional. We were responsible, and respectful to do our part, you have not been. I would never recommend this hospital.

Negative experience: The simple fact that every single white receptionist has been racist to me because I am black and had a child with a white woman. I have been disrespected by the staff in front of my newborn child and my soon to be wife. For anyone who has a child or plans to birth one do not come to this horrible racist and disrespectful hospital where they treat fathers like criminals and force you to be away while CPS tried to convince her to leave me. Negative experience: I always think this will be a better hospital to go to but they prove me wrong once again and this time I am sharing about my experience. I just became pregnant again and have not scheduled an appointment with an obgyn yet. I have not been able to keep anything down for 2-3 days now. I came here seeking help for my nausea. I waited literally 3 hours in the waiting room, several people who came after me got to go back before me. I finally get to go back. Why do they need my pee, I have no clue,? The doctor talks to me for a minute and I can hardly understand what he said. A nurse comes in, or I think it's a nurse she was not in nurse clothes. Tells me to put this little pill under my tongue then the nauseous will go away. I CANNOT KEEP ANYTHING DOWN. She leaves the room and I puke because it's freaking nasty. Nobody comes to my room after 30 minutes so I walked out. Like thank you for wasting 4 hours of my time to not even help me. Never again.

Negative experience: NO ULTRASOUNDS AVAILABLE of any kind on the weekends! My on-call doctor advised I go to the ER to be seen. They did nothing for me because they can't do ultrasounds on the weekends. Told me I would have to go to another hospital to get one. I will still be charged and have to pay my full ER copay. I can't afford to just go to another hospital to get care now. This should be clearly posted in the lobby!! The first nurse I had was very kind and they got me back immediately, though I did hear that it had been horridly busy just before I got there and some people were waiting 8+ hours to be seen. My first impression of the doctor was that he just didn't want to be there. I understand healthcare is hard and it was the end of the shift but every patient deserves care. I am understanding if you sound tired, not if you sound completely disinterested in me being there.

Negative experience: If I could give negative stars I would. Do not waste your time with this ER. I brought my Dad in with acute back/kidney pain and he has a preexisting condition that he almost died from 3 months ago. Aside from vitals in triage, we were there for 3 hrs for zero treatment. The nurses then advised me there is an 8 hr wait at Bronson, where they took their own family member instead of TR ER. Lol. Unless you want to wait over 3 hrs for a band-aid...don't waste your time, go anywhere else.

Fantastic experience: I recently gave birth to my daughter here. My labor was insanely fast(2 hrs from water breaking to delivery), and the nurses and midwife did everything they could to make sure we it went smoothly. After delivery, they took countless measures to make sure my preemie was okay, and were in constant contact with Bronson NICU incase she needed to be transferred. Not only did they care about my babies health, they also cared about my mental health. My baby was in the hospital for 5 days, and I was exhausted and terrified about what was going to happen with her. The nurses stepped in after I was discharged and told me to get some time outside of the hospital to breathe, eat dinner, and they would take care of my baby for me while I was out. It was the break I needed to pull myself together before taking my baby home the following afternoon. My experience with Three Rivers Hospital and the staff has created a drive in me to begin obtaining a degree in nursing. I want to be able to give other people the same experience and comfort that my nurses gave me. Aimee, Janie, Jacie, Nikki, Jenni, Ashley, Marcie, and so many others, you have left a lasting impression on me and I hope Beacon realized what an amazing asset you all are to the Labor and Delivery department.

Positive experience: Gone downhill since beacon took over, last 2 times we have had to go the room hasn't been clean which is gross and the staff is not friendly in general, the x ray tech was great though

Negative experience: I had severe pain and after hours of waiting and throwing up all they did was give me an IV and anti nausea medicine which didn't help, they also gave me a flat pillow and thin blanket for comfort after I said i was freezing! After I told them the medicine didn't work we were basically kicked out saying I was lying I want to give this place negative stars! On another visit I got my blood drawn and they left a huge bruise which never happenes to me

Negative experience: If I could give this place a negative star review I would. I highly advise anyone considering giving birth at this facility to reconsider. Mine and my baby’s life were put at serious risk when I delivered here recently. Not to mention I had staff lie to my face about things that took place while I was in their care. I made it out alive but I’m concerned that the next woman may not be so lucky. Not to mention we were made aware of multiple women suffering the same things I did by random members of staff. And if you do decide to give birth here, please do it with extreme caution.

Negative experience: I wouldn’t give any stars if possible. This has got to be the worst hospital I’ve ever come across in 50 years. My husband was in the ER waiting on a bed to be admitted. He was there from 12 noon until he called me to get him the next morning. In 17 hours nobody came to ask him if he wanted anything to drink or eat… not even a drink of water. He was there last month. Same thing happened to my son earlier this month. Is this how a hospital treats human beings? But charge a whole lot of money for some IV fluids. The worst and I wouldn’t even take my dog there now. We now go to Borgess in Dowagiac. Much better treatment and care. They need to just shut down Three Rivers Hospital… over the years it has just gotten worse and worse.

Negative experience: Wasted sooo many hours there. If you can go to Bronson in Kalamazoo!! 7-8 hours spent there just to be given water through IV and some pain meds and one scan. They also think everyone is made out of money and want to charge you ridiculous amount for things!

Negative experience: I waited NUMEROUS hours, but not only did I wait for 6+ hours, some poor lady who got dropped off by the AMBULANCE waited longer than I have, she had to get picked up to leave to and go to another hospital because no one would help her, but they were super quick to help her leave the place. Never come here unless you like to wait forever for an emergency or a potential emergency, they don’t care either way. You’ll see the doctors all over the place drinking or getting coffee though, because that’s more important.

Fantastic experience: My daughter had surgery here today with Dr. Raedy, who was amazing as usual! All of the staff were friendly, and had great bedside manner, they even had a stuffed animal waiting for her when we first arrived. I wouldn't hesitate to make the hour drive again if either of my girls needed something done in the future.

Negative experience: I would give zero if I could. Five years ago, I started having severe, sharp stomach pains and then got sick with bright red blood. 911 was called and I was taken to this emergency room and then asked if I could walk to the front desk to register. While I was standing there swaying back and forth and gripping the counter, the very nice woman at the registration desk had the EMT bring a wheelchair because she could tell I wasn’t doing well. While I was registering, a nurse came out and interrupted the woman and they began whispering to each other. I wasn’t born yesterday. After awhile the woman at the desk resumed the registration process and then hesitantly said to me, “They’ll get you back as soon as they can” and the EMT pushed me to the waiting area. My sister, who is my next of kin, arrived while we were waiting with my nephew who was three at the time. When the nurse called me back, (almost two hours later) my sister couldn’t push my wheelchair because she had to look after my nephew, but the nurse (seeing all of this), didn’t offer to help so I pushed my own. The wheelchair wouldn’t fit through the door of the triage room so I had to stand up and walk to the chair inside. Bad idea when you’re bleeding internally. As she was standing there rapid firing questions at me, I felt the room start to spin. The next thing I know there are people yelling my name at me and I’m on the floor of the triage room, I had fainted and hit my head on the way down. Because of this, they put me in a collar and had to do a CT scan on my head. I didn’t get home until 6:00 AM the next morning (all of this had occurred around 8:00 PM the night before, for reference point). In every fairness I can muster, the doctor and subsequent nurses beyond the triage nurse were absolutely fabulous. I has really good follow up care in the days following but was so shaken by my experience, I tried to file a complaint with the hospital. I was contacted by some man who spoke over me the whole “conversation” and passively suggested I was lying in more words. He told me he would follow up and never did. I don’t think any action was ever taken. It doesn’t matter so much now, five years on, but I do think it’s important to at least try and spare people from situations like mine if I can manage. I no longer live in the area, and I’m incredibly thankful for that.

Negative experience: My father had a blood clot and was there Tuesday. They also didn't notify us of the spot on his lung. They wouldn't admit him, I guess they're lazy. Negative experience: Worst care I have ever received. The nurse, A. West, was a know it all and the PA, M. Watson, was a joke. Never ask medical history, doped me up, sat me in a wheelchair, and left me in the lobby (in a nightshirt & blanket) for 40 minutes for my family to pick up. Clothes and shoes hanging in a bag on the back of the chair. I could not move again once my family arrived so I had to be given more meds. Also, not taken to the bathroom despite my telling the nurse I had not been for 12 hours upon arrival. Amazing that after my family arrived I was taken to the BR, though! Also, the demeanor of the nurse and PA changed when the family was present. Sent home unable to care for myself. Then they supplied inaccurate and incomplete documentation to my insurance company. Some were due to NOT doing their job and some were complete fabrications. Apparently, the supervisors condone this behavior. Go anywhere but here!

Negative experience: DO NOT RECOMMEND RN, Carol. Pt had emergency surgery for appendix and didn’t even come in to check and was very stubborn on giving pain medication right away. Forceful on getting pt out after 4 hours of surgery, without any dose of pain meds. Pt was out of surgery @12:45pm and pt did not receive first dose of pain meds till 6:30pm. Nurse made assumption of PT vaping in the room when pt was so much in pain she couldn’t even drink water. When nurse hadn’t even been in to check up on her PT for over 3 1/2 hours. Makes family and PT uncomfortable for RN to assume something like that and find it HIGHLY disrespectful considering the nurse is supposed to CARE and respect their PT’s. Nurse was extremely rude and disdainful, towards family and patient. I offered the walker to my sister and nurse was snobby and said “How old are you?” to her pt, truthfully it doesn’t matter how “old” someone is, if they are having a hard time walking, that’s what the equipment is there for. When I went into the room, the information board on the wall wasn’t even filled out. Had no idea what the nurses name was until I had to ask for it. Anytime she would come into the room, she never explained what she was doing she just started doing things. I worked in healthcare so I know all about how you’re supposed to have common courtesy, dignity, respect, care, and you’re supposed to introduce who you are and what you are doing. Rn Carol had none of that until I asked what her name was then she started trying to be “nice”.

Negative experience: Went to Er the other night with bad fever and chills with out of this world headache. Was told they had a 2 hr wait so I waited but after still sitting 4 hrs later I said forget it and had my ride take me elsewhere. I understand completely about the priority of being seen but there was hardly anyone there to justify a 2 HR wait not to mention 4hrs. Will never go there again !

Fantastic experience: This is the second time I’ve been at TRH, and I can honestly say I’ve never had a better experience in a hospital than when I’ve been here. Both times were for scheduled surgeries with Dr. Michael Maskill. I’ve never had a doctor/surgeon with better bedside manners who not only makes me feel like he cares about me, but has confidence without exuding arrogance. And then there’s the nursing/surgical staff. Even my boyfriend commented on how friendly and approachable they all were compared to other places he’s been (and he’s had LOT of hospital experiences). I would be glad to come here anytime, but also hoping this is my last foot surgery.

Negative experience: We got here around 2pm for my husband's leg/foot injury and sat in the waiting room for an hour. Got called into the ER and the doctor came in and asked about what was going on. Registration came in and those are the only ones who have been in the whole 3.5 hours that we have been in the ER except for the lady who done his x-rays. We do not recommend anyone to go to this place for treatment!!!! And to be honest I wouldn't even give them 1 star!!! I only did because I had to!!!

I paid a bill a month back in the amount of 500$ and a week ago they called me and asked if I needed financial assistance? I said no I paid that bill and thank god I saved my confirmation email. A couple days later they called back to say they “accidentally” put it in someone else’s account… seriously. So why are they going back and rebilling….. I called Blue Cross and they said they have no proof of that bill and do not know where that is coming from… so once again they are messing up billing. Negative experience: Worst hospital experience I've ever had. I went to the er after I fell on my post op leg 3 weeks after surgery. The doctor(s) (I went twice) are the most incompetent, rude and lazy doctors that I have ever seen! I thought I really hurt my leg after the fall (I'm ok) but the doctor never took me serious and rolled his eyes often. I had to get an xray so they had to cut off my cast, the nurse knicked my skin more then once! I am absolutely never going here again, and I highly recommend no one seeks treatment here!
