Our comment from Nutrifinder.net about Sports Academy & Racquet Club:
Sports Academy & Racquet Club is renowned as one of the best gyms in the valley, offering a welcoming and friendly environment for all fitness levels. The facility boasts a wide variety of high-quality equipment, fitness classes, and amenities suited for families and individuals alike.
Key highlights include:
- Extensive range of exercise equipment, including free weights, cardio machines, and specialized training tools.
- Variety of fitness classes, from Zumba to Pilates, ensuring there’s something for everyone.
- Clean and well-maintained facilities, with regular updates to equipment.
- Friendly and helpful staff who are committed to enhancing your fitness experience.
- A kid’s club that allows parents to work out while their children are engaged in fun activities.
- Multiple swimming pools and a sauna for relaxation after workouts.
- Excellent tennis facilities, with knowledgeable instructors.
While most users appreciate the clean environment and support from staff, some have noted issues during peak hours with equipment availability and cleanliness in certain areas. Additionally, membership fees have been considered high compared to other local gyms, and the cancellation process can be confusing at times. However, many members feel the overall experience and community at Sports Academy & Racquet Club make it a worthwhile investment.
Sports Academy & Racquet Club: Reviews
Fantastic experience: Best gym in Utah hands down!
Fantastic experience: Great place to workout without feeling under pressure. There are a lot of equipment that you can use for any type of workout. SARC is fantastic! The front desk staff are so nice and can help with any questions you might have. Always fresh clean towels to use. The membership staff can answer any questions you might have about SARC and can help you set up a membership to have other great activities. My favorite thing about Sports Academy is that they are happy to help you find what you are looking for in working out or just relaxing. You can enjoy a nice swim in the outdoor swimming pool, or the indoor one, they have a tennis building for those who are interested in learning tennis or practicing for any tennis competitions, they have Dance, Aerobics, and Pilates for those who are interested. They also have staff to help out with learning what type of workout works best for you. They are open everyday unless it's a national holiday.
Negative experience: Customers who have been affected by the membership cancellation fee at gyms or other businesses that require subscriptions. Now you are protected by the Federal Trade Commission's "Click to Cancel Rule". Don't let any business force you to pay to cancel memberships or subscriptions. You have the right to get your money back.
Fantastic experience: Great options and equipment. Convenient hours! Helpful staff!
Thank you for the great review Thomas!
Positive experience: Clean equipment and friendly staff
Thanks Marty!
Fantastic experience: I love the friendly environment
Evie, thank you for the great review.
Positive experience: I've been going to the gym for about two years now. I really like this place and appreciate the variety of facilities, especially the Zumba class, the steam room, and the pool. However, over the last six months, I've noticed a decline in cleanliness. The women's bathrooms and showers have become quite dirty, and the steam rooms, which used to smell like flowers, now smell like dirty towels. Incredibly hot during group classes and no visible effort from personnel to help it. And the pool in summer is another story. Despite more people joining, there's no visible effort to maintain the facility for the increased number of members. You can do better for all of us!!
Alexandra. Thank you for the review and feedback. I believe our team has addressed all these issues. Feel free to email me anytime at [email protected] with any issues. Thx!!
Positive experience: Great place but it gets sooo crowded sometimes it's hard to find open machines
Thanks for the review Wyatt.
Fantastic experience: The sport academy is a great place for kids! It has food and drinks( front desk) swimming pool, racquet ball, basketball, sometimes volleyball, and a couple weight rooms with a cardio area. They have a place to buy smoothies (also front desk) and tanning beds and a massage chair. I love to come here
Kamden, thank you for the great review!!
Fantastic experience: Wide Variety of activities & staff very helpful/friendly !!
Dennis tank you for the review and for being apart of the club!!
Fantastic experience: We love Sports Academy. Between the activities for kids and all the options for fitness it’s almost like a second home.
Thank you for the great review Danny!
Fantastic experience: I love The Sports Academy! There’s so much room to go and do what you want. They do a great job keeping it clean. Staff is always friendly and helpful. I would be really sad if I couldn’t go there anymore.
Thanks for the great review and being a member!
Fantastic experience: I have been a member here for years off and on. There is just not a local gym like it that exists in the valley that offers a variety of services and conveniences. I may pay more than a planet fitness membership, however I have more available to me, such as gym to play hoops, racquetball, tennis courts, swimming pools, hot tubs, personal lockers, showers, and saunas. I get my moneys worth. Additionally they have great costumer service and are friendly and welcoming. Membership has always worked with me and I want to give a shout out to Jeremy and Patrick. Thanks for giving me and my family a positive experience. Their weights and equipment are updated and the environment feels very clean and professional. They have a kids club that is very reasonable price to watch your children when you want to work out. They have a variety of dance classes to choose from. My wife has been involved in Zumba and had a blast. She tells me Barre dance is a work out but she likes the results from it. I love that the Sports Academy additionally offers personal trainers. Greg and Derrick here are exceptional! Lastly I love they have many fitness programs and sports activities for the whole family. My daughter participated in gymnastics and she loved it. We plan on swims lessons here. The only thing that may be an issue here is space to do your workout and parking availability in busy times of the year. I don’t know how that will be solved, or if there are any expansion plans, but I have managed to get in and get out as needed for the most part and the result is I still keep coming back. This gym in my opinion is not just for the individual, but for the whole family and I would recommend the sports academy to anyone! If you want to invest in yourself and well being the Sports Academy is the place to achieve it!
Keenan, thank you for the amazing review!
Fantastic experience: Great gym with friendly staff, great equipment, and all the amenities that make the gym experience not just physically beneficial, but mentally restorative. Nothing like ending a hard work out with a little meditation in the sauna or steam room.
Thank you for the great review Curtis.
Fantastic experience: Sports Academy is the ultimate gym in Logan hands down. With the amount of amenities included, combined with the great staff, this gym is well worth the price!
Anthony, we appreciate the great review. Thank you for being a member!
Fantastic experience: Best fitness club in Cache Valley!
Thanks for the 5-Star Byron, and for being a great member!!
Fantastic experience: The Sports Acadamy is a very intricate part of my life. It is a beautiful facility for health and fitness and for my vitality. Also, the staff takes meticulous care of the facility and all of my personal needs. There is also a social aspect related to the Sports Acadamy, it draws a very high class of athletes and fitness people who are all like-minded and fun to share our goals, routines, and philosophies
Doug, we love seeing you in the gym everyday! Thank you for being apart of our amazing Fitness Community!
Fantastic experience: I appreciate the variety of classes and offerings. Staff are always friendly and helpful. People are outgoing and engaging. I’m new to the area and the Sports Academy is where I have developed friendships and connections!
Thank you for being a part of our Fitness Community and making SARC a great place to workout!
Positive experience: We’ve been going to this gym for over five years now so we obviously love it. Here’s some nitty gritty: Pros: nice locker rooms, updated equipment with everything I need, love the functional training room, friendly staff, we love using the pool all summer, classes are awesome (especially Jaynee, Tori, and Brittany’s), I used to utilize kids club and it was so cheap and convenient. Cons: it can get busy during certain hours, parking can be a nightmare (people really need to quit parking on the road too), and it’s time to update the outdoor pool. Some of the other members can be rude but thats not fair as a reflection on sports academy, but maybe gym etiquette could be reviewed when signing on and posted in different areas of the gym?
Chelsea, thank you for the review and feedback. Always looking for ways to improve the member experience!
Fantastic experience: If your a mama like myself and can’t find time to get a workout or exercise class on your schedule this gym is the best they have a kids club where your able to drop your little ones off and take an hour for yourself. Friendly staff, very clean and professional.
Cristy! Thank you for the review! Love seeing you and your girls in the club!
Fantastic experience: We LOVE the Sports Academy! The facilities are always clean and well maintained. The weights and cardio equipment are top of the line and group fitness programs offer something for everyone. I love how welcoming and knowledgeable the staff and trainers are. It’s great to be a part of the health and fitness community at the Sports Academy.
Becky, thank you for the review and being apart of our Fitness Community.
Fantastic experience: I searched for 10 years to find a pool with adult swim lanes. Finally with my added Medicare plan I was able to go to Sports Academy and Racquet Club, and do laps. I also work out on their amazing machines before I swim, and last week the OUTDOOR lanes opened, and I am in ecstasy! Already lost 10 pounds just being dedicated to going 3 times a week! Swam at Gold’s gym before moving and they promised to build ( now Vasa) in Logan, Utah. But COVID hit and they pulled out! I was so upset!! Now this has worked out. Sports Academy keeps their machines REALLY updated, is a very clean facility except when customers leave shavers in the showers! Most patrons are very good about cleaning up after themselves. The swimsuit drier is kept in working order and custodial staff on the ball. They are the best gym I have ever gone to. And I am 75… been to many.
Susan, thank you for all the kind words! We appreciate you being a member!
Fantastic experience: I have gone to Sports Academy for many years I lost count. I go to both the North and South Locations. I have done all the things. I grew up going to preschool there taking, gymnastics, swimming lessons, and getting massages. I have even worked there at one point during high school. I have since got married and have had a baby. I did Pilates my entire pregnancy and now 3 months postpartum. It’s been so good for me physically and mentally. I even get to do it with my mom, sister and grandma. It’s been so fun. Shelley has been training us for many years. She is the best. I love sports academy!! I would also like to add my husband wakes up every morning 5 am and hits the weight room before work.
Hannah, thank you for the amazing review. We can't wait to have little Bo in preschool!
Negative experience: Don’t sign up for any deals for memberships. They will hit you with fees at the end. They also make it difficult to cancel a contract even when moving or valid military leave status.
Ruben, Thank you for the review. All memberships have a 30 day notice to terminate. If you had military orders, we always work with you. You said that you would email back in September. Please email [email protected] to figure this out. Thanks, Dan
Fantastic experience: I didn’t know they don’t allow guests to utilize the steam room after 9:00 pm it’s half the reason I come here. Recommend changing this policy so myself and the 3 other guys waiting in the steam room can enjoy our paid membership please.
You definitely can use the steam room until 15 minutes before closing. We will make sure our evening staff is trained. Thanks for letting us know.
Negative experience: For having to constantly wait for cramped equipment and dirty pool lanes, and limited tanning, while “regulars” sit and talk for 20 minutes taking the already limited machines, this place is OBNOXIOUSLY over priced. I spend more time waiting for equipment than I do exercising. The staff is nice enough but plain flat out, this place is too busy. If you take your fitness seriously, this money grab is not for you.
Hampton. Thanks for the review!!
Negative experience: Worth the price in my opinion, but definitely not if you’re going at traditionally busy times. The membership switches to month to month after a year but I still got charged for the full year up front. I don’t understand how that makes any sense. One of the few gyms I’ve been to that let you cancel through an email.
Tyrell, thank you for the review. The membership does go month to month after your first year, and your Paid in Full membership (best discount) bills annually, but is refundable based on the month to month terms. Hopefully the termination process was easy.
Negative experience: The reason I choose 1 star is because a negative 10 is not an option. My four-year-old son is attending their preschool. My son got out of the building to the parking lot alone, and nobody was watching the door, the good thing is that his mom was still in the parking lot. She took him inside to understand how could that happen, and apparently, it was my son's fault. They have ZERO responsibility and high negligently.
Negative experience: I hate this place.
Thank you for the review. Please feel free to email me at [email protected] for any issues you may have.
Negative experience: Absolute trash management. They say they close at 10 pm but for tennis they will come kick you out at 9pm. When we tried to inform management of this issue, we never got a reply. There is no transparency on when they actually close their tennis courts. I don't know if they are incompetent or just don't care. Also, they keep their indoor courts extremely cold and never heat it even when we ask them!! I can see my own breath in there when I play which is absolutely ridiculous. Almost no different to playing outside. Do not go here if you can if you want a positive experience. Horrible business management and etiquette.
Jeannie. Thank you for your review. If you will email me at [email protected] I will find out which evening this took place and correct this. The courts, as long as they are booked are open until we close. I don't see your name in our database, but our courts are booked from open to close and have been very nice to play on temperature wise. I am sorry if you feel differently.
Positive experience: Good variety of equipment. As long as you plan to go at slower times doesn’t feel overly crowded. Price is too high when compared to similar gyms in SLC , but they’ve got a monopoly in the valley so they can charge what they want. I wish the bathrooms were cleaner. I can’t remember the last time I didn’t see the toilets looking like they’d just been destroyed. Maybe have cleaning staff check hourly, or install higher flow toilets to take care of the damage all the high protein diets are inflicting. It starts to smell at times.
Thank you for the review!
Negative experience: Do not sign up for the swim classes. I signed my son up for the parent tot class in December. I was charged the initial $25 for the first class. I saw that they added dates for new classes starting 1/2/2024. Due to my schedule, I was trying to switch to the January class. It is impossible to get ahold of anyone related to the swim department. I left a voicemail, texted the number and sent them an email. I finally recieved an email from them advising that they could move me to the class starting 1/4/2024. 1/4/2023 came around and I was getting ready to leave work to get my son to this class. I happened to look at the website to check the address. As I was looking at the classes I saw that they were now showing the class start 1/9/2024. I was provided ZERO notice that the date had changed and would have shown up to no class today. I called and not shockingly was not able to get ahold of anyone that knows anything that the swim department is doing. I texted the number to my have listed and actually heard back confirming that the class session did not start until 1/9/2024. This place is not worth the headache. I asked for my refund and they said they would refund me however we’ll see if that happens.
Molly, Sorry for the headache. Our January swim session was always going to start on the 9th. Sorry if there was any confusion. I did verify that your $25 was refunded.
Negative experience: $40 for a day pass for me and my son, that is insane. Hopefully someone opens another gym and charges normal prices to give this place some competition.
Thanks for the great reveiw!
Fantastic experience: I absolutely love it here! The facility is always clean, and the pool and locker rooms are the best in town!
Thanks for the great review!
Negative experience: They are no longer offering the Active Fit program through my insurance. Really bummed since it is the only place with a pool and gym. I do not think it is worth $100+ a month for a membership. Cache Valley needs a Rec center like Provo does. That have more to offer kids, and is not super expensive for a membership. But, the owners of SARC keep buying people out so that does not happen. Fitness should be for everyone. Not just those who can afford a $300+ start fee. Also, your site is confusing and needs more help. Super confusing to use.
Cassie, Thank you for your review. Sports Academy has not made any insurance changes. We will still be offering the Silver n Fit and Active n Fit programs this upcoming year. We also have not been buying any gyms in the cache valley. Operating any gym of any size is expensive and just like everyone's cost have gone up, ours continue to rise as well. We work hard on absorbing those costs increases and still work on improving the gym and adding new facilities and amenities. If by chance your insurance has changed and you have been a member, we would also not charge you the membership fee when activating a different plan. You can also reach out to me anytime if you have other questions or concerns. Thanks - [email protected] - Dan
Fantastic experience: My daughter goes to the all academy preschool here. This is her first year of preschool and I was nervous that she would cry a lot because she has some separation anxiety, but she absolutely loves it and her teachers are the best!!! She has Miss Jenn as her main teacher and she always tells me how nice miss Jenn is! They also include tumbling, swimming and tennis lessons as part of preschool and it’s always fun to see the things she’s learning, highly recommend this preschool!
Allyson, thank you for the great review. We will make sure to pass this on to the Preschool.
Negative experience: We were charged $50 back when we signed up for the preschool early this year, which was part of the sign up fee. We canceled in April when we found out we were moving, and they wouldn’t refund us for the preschool even though it was 4 months before the preschool started. We were actually fine with this at the time, because we understood it may not have been refundable, but then today they charged us $200 (now September), when we received email confirmation that Summer was taken off the list. So they took her off the preschool list but not the billing list. So we are out $250, without having ever attended, nor can we attend, the preschool.
Liz. Thanks for teaching out. This transaction has been voided. Please let us know if you need help with anything else. Sorry for the inconvenience.
Negative experience: MEMBERSHIP IS NOT WORTH IT .!!!! Is really expensive for the a few hours that you can get a day . EVEN KNOW THEY CHARGE YOU FOR DAYS!!! This place is constantly fixing and remodeling. I understand that staff need maintenance but is hard to know and to plan when you have some goals. This place is good but getting overcrowded. People in front desk and swimming is always amazing . This place is getting full and membership is a bit pricey for what you get!! Don’t come here there is not place for more people. MEMBERSHIP IS NOT WORTH IT . YOU CANT USE A LOT OF THE ITEMS THEY CLOSED THE POOL FOR THEIR CLASSES AND YOU HAVE TO WAIT UNTIIL THEIR CLASES ARE DONE .
Thanks for the review. We hope you enjoy the new weight room and all the brand new equipment.
Fantastic experience: Congrats! I am hauling 20,000 lbs of old gym equipment from this location to Los Angeles Your getting new equipment their not - Be Happy !
Thanks for the review. Travel safe!!
Fantastic experience: I take my kids here for swim lessons. Great place with great instructors.
Thanks Shelby for the great review.
Negative experience: Swimming lessons are horrible. The classes are to fill for the kids to have real instruction. The kids only get 2 times with the teacher each session. The rest of the time they are sitting around.
Chad. We are sorry you were not satisfied with your swim experience. We will work harder to try to meet your expectations.
Fantastic experience: I love Sports Academy. I go 3-5 times a week and have been for a bit. I’m always greeted with a “Welcome in!” each time I come in. I think they do a pretty good job of maintaining the equipment. Stuff breaks here and there but it never seems to be down for long. I appreciate all the squat racks and cross training equipment that they’ve added in the back. It’s a huge value add in my opinion. The turf in the back with the sleds in a nice touch, too. Their cardio room has a few iFit treadmills that have really fun workouts programmed into them. Same with one of their stationary bikes. It makes cardio a lot less grueling to do on those machines. The biggest think I appreciate about Sports Academy is that I feel like they have everything you need. Free weights, machines, squat racks, kettle bells, cardio equipment, cables, battle ropes, etc. Any workout you want to do you can do here. Great place!
Blake, thanks for the 5-Star review and feedback.
Positive experience: They don't nearly have enough weight benches for the amount of people trying to use them. Also, there is often not enough mirror space for the crowd this big. The locker room is small, cramped, and packed with people. The front desk staff is usually very friendly at least. Membership is expensive for the experience. Updating my review: Seems like they listened and made improvements since. They replaced all the weight room equipment and the cardio room equipment as well. Now there are enough benches! Great job! I bet that made a lot of people happy! The gym is a lot better now. Two more things I know a lot of people would like: Create times for the outdoor pool when only adults are allowed (there are just way too many kids and it is out of control) or make a kids section and an adults section. And somehow try to ventilate the back room where the squat racks are a little bit better, it gets way too hot in there. Also crank up the AC a little more in the weight room as well.
Thank you for the review. I am sorry the spaces do not meet your expectations.
Negative experience: The gym is alright, the equipment is very out dated but it will still get the job done, the membership is a little steep for the equipment. Since the membership is so expensive, I expect decent toilet paper. The single ply rubs me raw, if you take prework out you will understand.
Will, thanks for the review. Our big capital project this year will be updating all of our weight and cardio equipment, so hang on for just a little bit longer!!
Fantastic experience: Got my wife a massage for Christmas with Jenny and this is her second time back, and won't stop raving about how great she is! Thanks Jenny!!!!
Thanks Trent! We definitely agree, Jenny is awesome!!
Positive experience: It's an okay gym, the benches are old and outdated. Machine are garbage. The should dump Ifit and use what usu Got for their gym. The new back room is kinda cool.
Caleb, thanks for the review. Our big capital project this year is replacing all of our cardio and weights. So stay tuned, once finalized we will make an announcement.
Fantastic experience: I absolutely Love it here.they pretty much have everything that I could think of.Amazing place to go workout and Spend time with your kids.my kids love The pool.
Thank you for the High-5!!!
Fantastic experience: Our experience has been extremely positive! The private tennis instructor went out of his way to make proactive solutions for lessons within our budget, for my son! He was really helpful!
Thank you for the great "serve"ice review!
Negative experience: When you pay a ridiculous price just to play basketball every night It'd be nice if I could actually play until close. Not turn the lights turned out on me more than 10 minutes early. If you want people to leave earlier maybe close earlier?? I'm not a genius but from my understanding if you say you close at 10 I should be able to use the facility until then! I kinda regret getting a membership here! Would not recommend to any new comers! Any other gym in the valley is FAR cheaper!
Jake, sorry about your experience. We will train our team better so this doesn't happen.
Positive experience: Good summer swim lessons offerings
Thanks for the great review Austin.
Negative experience: I live here part time at the moment since I’m from Salt Lake City so I come with my partner through his buddy pass. He comes to this spot because allegedly Logan doesn’t have a good selection of facilities and this seems to be preferred by the residents here. This gym isn’t really a gym but more like a family rec center. The entire place and all equipment is old and outdated. There is one single room for weight training which is quite small and they’re so limited on weights and machines. Because they don’t have a database or don’t provide tags for guests they have you fill out a form in their guest book every time you come in. They’ll pull your number from that form and will relentlessly text you asking you to get a membership. I have repeatedly told them no but they would persist to still contact me so I had to block that number. In the salt lake valley we have countless newer gyms all much bigger and nicer with the same or more amenities for $10-$20 a month. I just checked the membership packages online and they charge an absolutely insane $65 a month for a single membership. They are so very out of touch with what they have to offer and what they’re charging compared to other popular gym chains!
Negative experience: In the locker rooms before you go I'm there is a sighn alerting parents to not bring your kids in. It's 16 years and older and every time, there are kids in the hot tub, running in and out of the steam room and sana. Running into woman around the corner. I have gotten to the point that I don't even enjoy the spa treatment that we pay extra for and don't get to enjoy. If this keeps up I'm walking around naked in there to make the moms that bring there 10 year old sons in there to make them feel uncomfortable. To the owners and managers, it is your job to hold up to your rules on spa and gym rules. I don't bring my boys in out of respect for other woman using the spa locker room. I know as a mother of 2 that that is our time to relax and destress. I know I am not the only woman who feels this way because we have vented about it before. Please take care of this
Positive experience: The experience at Sports Academy doesn’t justify the price. There isn’t enough equipment for the number of people in the gym at most times of the day. A lot of machines are worse for wear, with worn handles, peeled-off weight labels, or broken pin cables. The staff is friendly and any equipment in need of service is repaired quickly, but I don’t plan to renew when my contract expires.
Jake thank you for your feedback. I am sorry you had to “weight” for a chest piece. Currently there are 4 pieces in the main gym, plus 5 cable crosses that can also be used for chest. Upstairs there is also 1 more chest piece and 4 more cable crosses. Feel free to stop by the membership office anytime and we can make sure to show you which pieces would work best for what you are trying to accomplish. Thanks for being a member!
Fantastic experience: I lost my wallet this morning. Mackel and Alley toot time to look all over the building for me. They were so warm and friendly during this difficult time. Every time I walk into the Sports Academy to work out every one at the front desk is extremely friendly.
Thanks for the great review.
Fantastic experience: Wide variety of high quality weight lifting equipment, clean workout environment and friendly staff.
Rumal, Thank you for the great review.
Fantastic experience: I love working out here. I am a beginner when it comes to working out and I have felt nothing but support from everyone here. There are activities and machine's for every level. Great locker room to boot!
Brianna. You will be a seasoned pro before you know it. Thank you for the great review.
Fantastic experience: I love this place! The staff is cool as can be, the facilities are clean, there is plenty of equipment and the hours are decent.
Tyler, we love you too! Thank you for the review.
Positive experience: I thoroughly enjoyed this gym. The facility is very nice and always clean. They have a wide variety of equipment to choose from. The staff was friendly and always helpful. I did have an issue with billing but it was quickly rectified. Excellent place to go!
Ryan, thank you for the review.
Negative experience: This place is very unprofessional! I’m sincerely disappointed. After attempting to play at the tennis courts 3 TIMES!!! But no due to their unprofessional employees with poor communication. They need to make it more clear to make reservations or have a limited time you can have a tennis court for each group. The young lady at the front desk told us go right ahead to the courts. After wasting our time we found out there was the kids tennis lessons using the courts and we would not be able to use the courts until 9 PM that night. What a disappointment. There was also a paper on the front door the recommended you wear a mask. RECOMMEND??!!! NO! It needs to be required. There was maybe a couple of people besides us that were wearing a mask. Do not recommend.
Mama Coco - we apologize for your disappointment. Tennis courts always require a reservation year round. Reservations can be made by calling the front desk anytime during club hours. During the winter months tennis courts are extremely busy being some of the only indoor courts. We will make sure all team members are better trained.
Positive experience: I worked out here for a couple of years when I moved up to Cache Valley. The equipment is pretty junky and falling apart, and there was at least one machine each month that was out of order. The treadmills tend to skip on you while you are running which is a big hazard of hyper extending a knee or worse injury, and if they weren't skipping they were out of order. The pools are pretty murky and usually have leaves/Band-Aids floating around. But we did spend many good times there with our daughter. However, before ending my membership they did an update to the second basketball gym which I did appreciate and used often. The locker rooms also went through a nice remodel as well.
Thanks for the review. We continually are working to keep the club updated to keep members engaged and happy!
Positive experience: Multiple review Front desk. 5/5 real good over this year Staff, life guards. 5/5 very nice and helpful Lifting area. 4/5 sometimes seems crowded but multiple areas if you change up your routine. Tennis courts. 4/5 mostly due to some over draft with leaves and dust coming over the fences. Gymnastic. 5/5 good teachers facility nicely kept Trainers. 4/5 some perfect, some unable to handle there schedules properly. Pool. 2/5 outdoors closed due to algae or cleaning or both multiple times. Indoor not always tempered well for kids multiple times during the week. Hot tub does the job. ( pool Most important due to being my kids favorite) Basketball 4/5 crowded often, but the old Court is a nice area to lift now for multiple new workouts. Massage 5/5 tried many between wife and myself no complaints well done. Affordability. 2/5 expensive for the average family, but if you can it's very nice in the none peek hours when everything is a good or perfect condition Average 3 out of 5 for whole gym after 1 year use. Thanks for reading..
Thanks for the feedback.
Negative experience: Doing far too little to address the coronavirus pandemic. Group classes in full swing, no mask requirements for staff or guests, and no realistic way to enforce such standards. Don't get me wrong, it's a nice gym. It's just also a Covid-19 hotspot.
Thank you for your feedback. Our policies have evolved over the last few months. Currently we still use our electrostatic fogging machine and disinfect the entire club every morning. We have been using this machine for the past 15 years as part of our regular cleaning protocol. Currently we use it every morning where in the past it was used once per week. These machines have mixed data, meaning there are reports that say the disinfectant stays present for up to 90 days, but we have always chosen to be more cautious and use it more often, since March that has been every day. Members have been asked to stay home if sick (this is something that we always have recommended) and when in the club to use hand sanitizer, wash hands often especially when using the restrooms, to disinfect their equipment when they are done using, and wear a mask if they choose. Our staff is also regularly cleaning through out the day all commonly touched surfaces. We have been fortunate not to have had any outbreaks associated with using the club and will continue to do everything we are currently doing to help reduce the spread and work to keep our members using the club as safe and healthy as possible. Since re-opening on April 13th I feel like we have shown that we can effectively operate and reduce the spread.
Fantastic experience: This gym has everything I needed. I love to do weights and plyometrics. They have sleds, medicine balls, the Bear Squat machine (only seen like two of these ever at gyms). People are clean and staff is helpful.
Kirk, Thank you for the great review. The Bear Squat is something that we have hung onto over the years so we are glad you love it!!
Positive experience: Compared with other pools I’ve seen this pool ranks lower due to cleanliness. Every time I swim I see gobs and gobs of hair at the bottom at the filter vents. I try not to look down.
DeAnn, thank you for your feedback. We will point that out to our facility staff and get them in the pool more!! Thx!
Positive experience: + Friendly Front Desk workers + Good facilities! + Red Zone Training is awesome - signing up felt like a sales racket - I would HIGHLY recommend if you sign up with them that you do what I did and lie about your social security number when they ask for it. There are ZERO reasons a gym needs that, and no gym has ever me asked me for it before. DO NOT GIVE THEM this information. I highly doubt the data storage process they use is even remotely safe/encrypted/secured and you do not want to be the next person who get's their identity stolen from a GYM of all places. Seriously.
Jason, Thank you for the review. We did use to require the social but do not anymore, I will make sure and address this with our team members. Our storage system/software is very safe, encrypted, and something that is monitored every day.
Negative experience: I do not recommend this gym, they are overpriced and when it comes down to terminating your lease, they make it seem like it’s going to come out of their personal paycheck.
Thank you for your feedback. Every member has a 30 day notice to terminate. You can give notice by emailing or coming into the club in person and signing a termination form.
Negative experience: No morals!! Take your business elsewhere. Would rather put the public at risk and make money and open amid a pandemic.... made the news from their greedy selfishness. Take your business elsewhere, to companies that actually need it and have standards.
Thank you for your input. We take our members safety extremely serious and since reopening on April 13th have worked extremely hard to keep our facility clean and our members safe.
Fantastic experience: Great gym, love the amount of space they have and all the different equipment they have to offer. Amazing tennis courts, too.
Thanks!!!
Fantastic experience: Highly recommend Erin for massages! I’m 34 weeks pregnant and she was so sweet, accommodating and gave an incredible massage!
Erin is great. Thank you for the great review.
Fantastic experience: Good requirement, swimming, hot tub, sauna, steam rooms and classes
Beverly, Thanks!
Fantastic experience: I love this place. Clean, friendly and always willing to snap a few pics for you.
Troy, thank you for your review!
Fantastic experience: Been a member for 2 years honestly I think the best gym I've ever been to with all its perk
Thank you for the review!
Fantastic experience: I love this gym!! They have everything you’d ever need for any workout, and they provide wonderful, extremely affordable, childcare for my baby. They do have the option to do a flat out year long, upfront contract instead of month to month. If you’re the type of person that might forget to cancel your monthly membership, I recommend doing the yearly contract! I can’t say enough good things about the sports academy. Joining this gym and going often has changed my life.
Thanks for the review!
Fantastic experience: I had a fabulous massage from Jenny, just the right pressure, I didn't feel like she was rushing to be done or watching the clock like I have had with some other therapists, it was very relaxing!
Thanks!
Negative experience: Such a deceitful company! They will take advantage of you. Their membership office workers are liars and as shady as people come. Do not sign a contract with them unless you want to be taken advantage of too. To be told one thing in person (and by the looks of the reviews here, it happens often) while you’re signing a contract, then at the end of it being told they lied to you is disgusting. The traffic I give them from my job and referrals will stop now. Instead I will make sure people know how awful this company is.
All members are required to give a 30 day notice to terminate.
Negative experience: Sports Academy is a dishonest, bottom-line, scum company. When we signed up we were told that we would receive notice before it was time to cancel our membership. We never received the notice and they have no documentation of ever sending it. Reguardless of if it’s written in the contract or not, they obviously do not care about people like they claim to. The fact that we gave money to a company as deceitful as this is frustrating. We will now ALWAYS be sure to let people know Sports Academy is a terrible choice because they take advantage of people.
Memberships are set to auto renew. The Kapp family was 100% refunded within one week of terminating their membership.
Fantastic experience: I reserved a massage service here, 3 hours before I get in, same day. One of the best massage therapy visits I have ever had. Her name is Erin. I needed a deep tissue lower back massage. She had experience, skills, strength, and personality. I will be going back to her over and over again. Wonderful!
Thanks!
Negative experience: When I first signed up with them they rushed through the contact information and when I asked about cancelling they brushed through it and made it seem really easy. The facilities are really nice and I like the gym itself. I do think they over stack it. Every time I went in it was always packed. But, when it came time where I needed to cancel, the membership department never answered the phone and when I left voicemails they never responded. After two months of trying to get a hold of them I had to tell the front desk everything that was going on and that she better get me to someone who can take care of it. I was able to talk to someone and he told me that it was really simple. All I had to do was email a response to an email he was going to send me and it would be all over. Low and behold after two weeks I got another charge on my card. I called in multiple times with no answer. After the third try they got on the phone with me to tell me that once you state that you want to cancel you have to continue paying for 2 months. This was not explained to me while we sat down and rushed through the contract. It is so much easier to just go with someone else. They make everything 10 times harder and 10 times more expensive than any other gym here in Utah. Absolutely ridiculous customer service.
Negative experience: Facilities are nice but don't sign a long-term contract. Their terms and conditions are written so they get extra money regardless if you actually use their services. Cancellation process is a nightmare and don't even think about trying to transfer your contract to someone who's even thought about being a member before. If you're going to get a membership, make it month to month or you will get robbed.
All memberships require a 30 day notice to terminate.
Positive experience: Nice place. I really wish they were more strict about the children in the adult locker rooms.
Thanks!
Positive experience: I love working out here. The facility is very nice. Staff are friendly. I just wish some of the equipment was updated or replaced but no complaints! Weight is weight.
Thanks!
Negative experience: I enrolled in a membership and about 5 months into the contract, my mother was given weeks to live. I then had to move out of Cache Valley to take care of her. Before that happened I went and visited the gym, with a written letter for Adam in memberships, stating that I was leaving for a eminent death in the family. 2 years later, I have been garnished for it. Do not go here!!
Negative experience: My 1.5 year with Sports Academy has been disappointing. There is a clear need for studio access, yet they keep them locked up except for classes. As a result, dancers practice in the racquet ball and basketball courts. Random people can access the ice machine, the same machine where they get ice for their smoothies. I've seen people spill whatever is in their bottle while filling ice, but staff don't even bat an eye. Several other things makes the place feel impersonal. The place doesn't really care, you're just another bi-monthly payment in the system. That's the vibe I got. If I weren't invested with other gym-goers, I would have chosen to go elsewhere.
Thank you for your review. We will take your suggestions into account and improve our day to day operations.
Fantastic experience: I am a tennis member so this review is on the tennis facilities and staff. The indoor course are as good as anywhere in Utah. Very nice. The tennis director is an amazing coach. We has seen our son learn so much technique and he has improved dramatically since working with him. Also they have college matches there and you can watch amazing tennis for free!
Fantastic experience: It's pretty fun at first
Fantastic experience: Love it. Great basketball, swimming, work out, tennis you name it they got it. Swimming lessons are great as well. Have 25 yard pool 6 feet deep is the deepest it gets though but other than that it's the best.
Negative experience: If you're looking for a place to lift wieghts, keep on looking. They added free weights almost as an after thought, which is funny, because that's what most people do when they go there. There's only two squat racks, one decent leg press, so if you want to do legs, you basically have to go after 10pm when the crowd dies down.
Negative experience: Been at this gym 5 years, and they still robbed me with a 60 day cancellation fee when I moved away. 0/10 would not do business with them again.
Negative experience: Pros: Gym is great for the most part! Equipment is old and the gym is very crowded - however everything works and the people using equipment are generally nice. Cons: $44 a month for a student to use the free weights We need more options for gyms in Logan... Way too expensive for what you get. Also, you have to give 2 MONTHS notice before you cancel??? If my job only needs 2 weeks, why does my gym need 2 months? Oh, because they’re trying to get me locked into contract again. Overall, pretty poor experience here. I wouldn’t recommend joining although there aren’t many options in Logan so if you do join; be sure to read the contract.
Fantastic experience: My kids are currently taking swim lessons here, and it’s been amazing! They are learning so much, and their instructor, Mark, is so good with them. If your kids need to learn to swim, take them here!
Beka, Thank you for your review!
Fantastic experience: Good variety of activities (3 pools, hot tub, racquet ball, tennis, weights, cardio, classes and kids club). Quite a bit nicer than my former gym (Vasa).
Todd, Thank you for your review!
Fantastic experience: We take our kids here for gymnastics and they love it!! The staff is Amazing and goes above and beyond!
Eric, thank you for your review.
Fantastic experience: This is the by far the best place to workout in Logan, I've been in many clubs but if you're looking for all the amenities...look no further. The staff is amazingly friendly and the equipment is top of the line.
Thanks Steve!
Negative experience: The gym itself is very nice and they have some good programs for the kids. However, their contracts are a trap! We met our one year contract and upon deciding that we no longer wanted to be part of the gym due to cost and we tried to cancel. We were told that we could cancel but they required a 60 day cancellation notification. Good luck finding that on your contract, apparently it is a verbal notification. As such be prepared to billed for two additional months after you try and cancel.
Positive experience: The Sports Academy is one of the better multi-activity gyms in the area. They really strive to have something for everyone regardless of age and activity level. Their personal training staff is very friendly and the equipment is pretty up-to-date. It's kept pretty clean, for a gym, and I've always preferred coming here over other gyms. I sometimes wonder if/when they'll look into a bigger facility but for now it works.
Positive experience: Fun place to work out, good equipment, a little old but it works.
Fantastic experience: I love the Sports Academy! I love how I can bring my kids in to the daycare and have them watched after while I work out. It's waaay cheap. Classes have been a lot of fun and I'm getting closer and closer to my goals. If you are thinking of a place to join, go check out the Sports Academy. I would recommend it to anyone!!
Fantastic experience: The best gym in the valley hands down! Great customer service and experience
Fantastic experience: Such a wide variety! So many things you can do!
Fantastic experience: The sports academy has all you need to get a well rounded workout! Their smoothies are delicious too!
