Negative experience: During my lower back massage from ASCR a few months ago, during my appointment, my back started to hurt, the pain was agonizing, I told the massage therapist to stop, but she insisted to keep going since we just started. Ive got a horrible experience from this place. Would not recommend to anyone.

Fantastic experience: WHAT. Dawn blew my mind. The massage definitely unblocked a lot, and it is still unblocking hours later. I feel much better, mentally, spiritually,and physically. The chiropractor/ doctor lady was also super nice.

Fantastic experience: Dr. John and Dr. Prokes are fantastic with my family. They have a terrific "family deal" for those who pay without insurance. The first spouse pays half the "insured" price, the second spouse gets half off the spouse's rate, and kids are complimentary after that. For a large family it's definitely worth it. My husband and I feel better with our spines aligned, and the kids enjoy getting theirs checked, too. Also, Anne the receptionist is amazing: always cheerful and eager to help or laugh when we walk through the door.

Negative experience: Now Dr John is a good chiropractor medically speaking but him and his front desk receptionist said some very unprofessional things and Dr John even said something very racial to me as an African American woman. He told me to remove my jewelry for my xray then he said jokingly remove your scarf so I can see your nappy hair that made me feel so humiliated because white people can’t say stuff like that to black people period. And secondly I suffered from colon cancer back in the 90s and I don’t even have the hair texture he jokingly describes. I told my daughter who is a federal and state attorney and she was livid. I told my fiancée and he said we are not going back. It really bothers me when white people says these micro aggressions towards black people especially women. Then he saying dirty jokes that made me very uncomfortable. Then I noticed the receptionist said to me in Melvin when we was making our appointments crazy, mixed up kids but I did not hear her say that to any white person who was making appointments. I let that slide then she said it again when I called yesterday, it is very unprofessional and I don’t know you like that. I am a retired accountant and a minister. I worked hard to get where I’m at I have 2 bachelors degrees 2 master’s degrees and my doctoral degree in theology. I am a very personal nice person but sometimes white people cross lines that they shouldn’t

Fantastic experience: Their entire staff, their system, their doctors, I love everything about this place. I’ve been to many practices before but have never gotten the results or quality similar to Advanced Spinal Care. I love Dr John and his staff, and to add, the massages are amazing as well.

Negative experience: I bought a Groupon for my husband to get a deep tissue massage. I called and scheduled for a Tuesday. The next day I was left a message that the scheduler messed up and the massage had to be for a Wednesday, which didn't work for my husband. I rescheduled for the week after, and I received a call the day of the massage that the therapist was sick and once again I rescheduled for the week after. Well, the day of the massage I called at 9am to reschedule because my husband had a massive infection and he needed and emergency root canal. The chiropractor/owner answered the phone when I asked him to please reschedule his appointment he said he would have scheduling call me back. (Still waiting)... but he did ask me for the remembers code. Later that same day they called me at 4:45 to ask me why I missed my massage.!!! When I explained to the lady that I did call, she apologized said it was her mistake there was a miscommunication and that she would call me back to rescheduled.(still waiting) The next day I went on my groupons and saw that they had redeemed the voucher for a service they didn't provide. I called again and asked for an explanation, again the lady apologized and said she will figure it out and give me a call. It's been a week and still nothing. These people run a shady business. Probably better to stay away from them.

While setback still occur, I now face them with resilience and grace, aimed with a new understanding of my body and mind. This journey has taught me the importance of balance and self compassion, and I’m confident in my ability to navigate whatever challenges, lie ahead and strength and optimism. Negative experience: Schedule a massage a month ago. Showed up on time and they just never scheduled anything for me. No offer to make it right or do anything. Not returning

Negative experience: I had an appointment for a massage this morning, my daughter is autistic and had a seizure this morning so I was not able to keep the appointment. I called to let them know the situation and see if I was able to reschedule due to this. This receptionist was BEYOND unprofessional!! As I was telling her I had a situation with my daughter and was not able to make it, she spoke over me with "yea..I need a 24 hrs notice. I mean yea ha! what would you do if you were in my shoes?" With such an attitude and rudeness, absolutely ZERO compassion, understanding or any kindness at all. Totally turned me off completely, I want no services from them. They will not get my money! When you're dealing with other human beings... especially in a medical environment..COMPASSION and UNDERSTANDING is NUMBER 1!!

Fantastic experience: The greatest thing you can appreciate about a provider is when they show clearly that they care about you as an individual and finding a solution that will work for you. Dr. John and his team don't miss a beat. If you are visiting for the first time you will learn a lot about the Chiropractic practice and then they will work with you to help you understand your body and where you might need help including how they will work with you. All the, processes, equipment used and rooms are explained thoroughly especially for beginners. I understood exactly what the Dr. was doing and I was free to ask questions. I went in for back issues and neck strain. Lots of improvement from day one. Overall, the practice is very welcoming.

Fantastic experience: I have been coming to Dr. John for over 10 years. He has helped me understand how to best take care of the neck I was given (which isn't very good). I have always felt heard and taken care of. He has never pressured me into on going care, but instead given me the facts and allowed me to choose my own care paths. The office staff and doctors always ensure I can get an appointment and always greet and take care of me as if I were family.

Fantastic experience: What's chiropractic? Long story short, it's nervous system care. The friendly and professional staff at Advanced spinal care guided me through 3 months of recovery to fix my muscles that were overly tight to protect the nerves around my upper spine. When you arrive you roll on a therapy table to loosen your spine for 8 minutes. Then their expert adjusters will maneuver you for 3 quick minutes to adjust your bones and relieve your nervous system, setting it on a path of micro-healing. I felt better after 3 month, but it's not about just feeling better, it's about retraining and readjusting your nervous system. An additional 6 months helped me stay well, and a final 3 months to maintain the healing through the ordinary course of life. I recommend Advanced Spinal Care. They have found great professionals to staff their office and I hope you find the same success with your recovery that I've had with mine.

Fantastic experience: I booked a massage here for my back and shoulder pain back in June, after a pain consultation they discovered I actually had spinal curvature effecting all areas I had been experiencing pain for years. I am so grateful for the doctors and staff here as I’ve now been working weekly on fixing my spine through adjustments and physical therapy. The masseuse was wonderful and had the most positive and peaceful energy which enhanced my experience. After completing my massage, I spoke with Dr. John regarding my interest in chiropractic therapy to improve my back from an auto injury I suffered a few years back. I’ve gone through 8 adjustments since my first time there and I have to say my body hasn’t felt this good in a few years!!! My energy levels are up and my body feels great! Negative experience: This was such an unfortunate experience. While waiting in the lobby one of the clients left and the receptionist and doctor were talking badly about her. Then after I had a pain consult Dr. John for 5 minutes, he called me "weird" to another worker which is so unprofessional and rude. Lastly the way the receptionist is aggressive about getting tip money is off putting. If clients want to tip they will. The whole experience was not great.

Fantastic experience: I had been searching for a chiro for almost a year, had tried 5 different ones and was not getting the attention or care I needed until now. I had actually come in for a massage, and Dr John had seen my file, and pulled me aside to talk to me more about my conditions, which was already more intention than I had seen from a provider all year. He gave me a deal on a consultation and an xray, and was able to show me what was wrong, it was so nice to have someone listen to me and show me I was not being crazy, that my pain was in fact coming from something. He worked with me to come up with a treatment and payment plan, which was so kind. He really put in the effort to make it work for me to feel well. I am a couple months in, and feeling better than I have in a couple years. All the chiros and staff here have been amazing, and LISTEN to me. This is what healthcare should be like.

Fantastic experience: I have been coming to Advanced Spinal Care and Rehab for a few weeks now and Dr John is great! He thoroughly goes over treatment and treatment plans and is straight to the point which I like. Recently I was able to run a mile and a half with absolutely no hip pain which normally is expected and makes me really hate running. It was so nice to finally be able to run without pain. Looking forward to seeing my body get better with additional treatment.

My back was so bad that at 25 I couldn’t do regular activities without having to stop often for pain. Now here I am walking 3 miles and playing softball without! All the dr’s here have been phenomenal. I was a little skeptical at first because I had chiropractic care in the past that only scratched the surface of helping. Negative experience: Scheduled a consultation and deep tissue massage. Was extremely excited at an opportunity to address and treat chronic pain vs medicating. I took off work for the appointment and the following day to recover and rest. I received a phone call with a voicemail the night before after 6pm (while I was at dinner) informing they messed up scheduling. The next morning I had an email that stated someone was sick. Very unprofessional to cancel on someone with less than 24 hours notice, little alone that late in the day, and to top it off to have conflicting reasons why. Glad I was able to receive a better experience and not waste my time off with Essentially Massage in Blaine. Check them out for medical message therapy for pain release and a more professional experience.

Fantastic experience: Advanced spinal is a wonderful place that keeps me healthy. I started going years ago for issues with my neck and have recently been getting treatment for a pulled hamstring. I had this same injury in the past, and it took me two years to get over it. When I re-injured my hamstring a few months ago, Dr. John told me about platelet-rich plasma, (PRP). I had no idea this existed and was thrilled to hear my hamstring could heal much quicker. Dr. John brings in a nurse practitioner to do the procedure at Advanced Spinal. A couple weeks after getting PRP my hamstring feels a lot stronger and after another treatment or two I should be able to get back to my intense workout routine. (For those not familiar with PRP, it is a procedure where blood is taken out of your arm and put in a centrifuge to concentrate the platelets. The platelets are then injected into the injured area. The platelets act as a super healer for the injured muscle. I researched PRP, and basically found that it is quite effective with a low risk of problems because your own blood is being injected back into you. The procedure was done in about an hour with minimal discomfort.) I am extremely thankful to Dr. John four suggesting PRP. My recovery is already going so much faster than the last time I had this injury when I just stopped working out and focused on stretching and massage. I’ve enjoyed getting to know everyone at Advanced Spinal. Ann, the receptionist, is especially very welcoming and caring.

Fantastic experience: I started going to Dr. John for adjustments on my neck and back. 10 months into the adjustments I hurt my lower back at work just by bending over. I could barely walk or even sit for I was in so much pain. Found out that I have Degeneration in my lower back and a bulging disc. Dr. John recommended Platelet injection in my lower back. I wasn't sure about having this procedure for 2 reasons, First not sure if it would really work and second the cost of having it done. I can honestly say that I am so glad I had the injection done. I only needed 1 injection. With in 2 weeks I was no longer in pain and I was able to go back to playing golf. It has been 6 months and I am still pain free. I highly recommend trying the Platelet Injection if Dr. John is recommending for you to have it done.

Fantastic experience: My job duties create strain on my neck, upper and lower back. I have been coming to Dr. John and his practice for several years now, for relief from these daily aggravations. I even followed him when he moved to his current Shoreview location. His front desk learns your name and greets you each appointment with a smile and a friendly greeting. I feel a part of a "family" as the staff gets to know you, and they genuinely care about you and your well-being. I really enjoy the roller table after a long day at work.
