Fantastic experience: Upon arrival I was very apprehensive about this journey. So many thoughts running through my head. Everyone was so nice and made me feel welcomed however it wasn’t until I sat with Dr. Sekhar that my feelings and emotions were regulated. He made me feel safe and comfortable. We started talking and I felt like I knew her for years. We had so much in common. She made me feel as if I was going to have a supportive friend in this journey. Ivette and Dr. Sekhar are both assets and hot commodities to the New York Bariatric Group. I’m so grateful that our paths crossed and am excited to see what the future holds.

Fantastic experience: I was having difficulties with my insurance as my coverage was starting the same day as my appointment and they were trying to either cancel me or make me pay out of pocket. I called the call center and Dashia literally was a life saver. She was pleasant and fixed all of my problems! you guys have a gem on your team, keep her!

Negative experience: Tried to get an appointment having Medicare as insurance. They will not take me at their Fairfield office because I have Medicare. They referred me to two places. One in Oxford, Ct or Hartford, Ct which are both an hour away. You should not advertise your Fairfield office if you are not willing to see people there. Bad business.

Fantastic experience: 5 STARS! Dr. Chiu is my doctor. I have so much I can say! From literally calling the phone # on my local bilboard. The best decision I ever made. I was terrified going in as I have been debating this decision for 2 years! I have had the best expierence of my life at this off. Every Staff member, every nurse, most importantly Dr. Chiu has been remartkable. Every fear, every doubt acknowledged and treated with the upmost care. I am 2 weeks post op and I feel fantastic!! I am so ready and excited for this new life and Journey that this group has helped me with.

Fantastic experience: I have been a patient of New York Bariatric Group for just about a year now. In October 2023, Dr. Sekhar performed my Gastric Sleeve surgery. I have lost a total of 80 pounds in just eight months. This without a doubt was the best decision I could have ever made! Dr. Sekhar and staff along with his OR team are just so caring, kind, understanding and wonderful. They will guide you every step of the way to make sure you are successful. Last week, (6/18/24) I needed emergency gallbladder surgery. Dr. Sekhar was not available and Dr. Chiu (another Dr. in the group) without hesitation jumped right in and was able to get me onto his schedule and perform the surgery for me! This entire group is absolutely amazing! Dr. Chiu, Nicole and his entire OR team were truly amazing! Dr. Chiu and Nicole Rogucki truly are lifesavers. Cannot say enough great things about this group!

Fantastic experience: I was very well taken care of. The doctor was very professional and got to the point as he explained the procedure. I had my surgery on July 8. Everything went smoothly. I was in the hospital for one night, and I felt at peace knowing I was being taken care of very well. All the staff was curtious and helpful. Before I got discharged, I was giving very helpful information to have a speedy recovery. I would recommend this group if you're looking to have a bariatric procedure.

He was terrific as all well as the entire staff with setting up appointments, documents, questions and concerns. My appointments were at the Fairfield CT office. Everyone there was amazing as well, super friendly and attentive staff! My surgeon was Dr Sekhar. He was absolutely the BEST! I felt like he was not only my surgeon but my biggest cheerleader! So positive and friendly, I felt completely comfortable in his care. Surgery was held at the Stamford CT surgery center. The facility was incredible and again the entire staff there was top notch! Highly recommend having procedure done there. Right from the start they made me feel completely comfortable. They made my mother feel like she was part of their family and were so attentive to her while she waited during my surgery. My mom couldn't stop raving about how comfortable and impressed she was with the facility and staff as well! My surgery was fast and smooth. Recovery at the surgery center was seamless. Dr Sekhar and all the nurses made my post op time as easy as it could be, they had me up and walking shortly after surgery. And the best part was I went home to finish recovery the SAME DAY as surgery! I felt this was huge in my speedy recovery! I had no surgical pain at all, just some gas discomfort that subsided within a day or so. The staff followed up with me continually right up to the post operation visit one week after surgery. I can't say enough good things about my Dr and the entire staff at New York Bariatric Group!! Dr Sekhar and the Stamford surgical center made my recovery SUPER FAST and painless!! I would recommend Dr Sekhar and the Stamford surgical center to everyone every time! Top notch facility, Top notch Doctors, Top notch Nurses, Top notch staff!!! They made the entire process seamless and stress-free compared to the first procedure I had done in 2012 by one of the local hospitals. Dr. Sekhar and his entire team are professional, knowledgeable, and honest. Because of their expertise, my recovery time was quicker, and my quality of life improved. Having any bariatric surgery should not be taken lightly, so I did my research this time. I knew from my first visit with Dr. Sekhar and his team that they are experts in weight loss surgery, and I am glad I had them do my Sleeve revision. Fantastic experience: Dr Chui is a great surgeon. I had my 2 week post op visit today. He is very smart, patient and caring. This was a very easy recovery i think with his surgery skills i had minimal discomfort. The office staff in Stamford are really nice and any questions i have they are knowledgable so I do not feel alone in this.

Positive experience: Dr chiu is nice, Trying to get info when calling can be difficult and the call center is a big pain. Had a hard time with billing.Didn't hear from my Concierge very often. I spoke to Ivette (surgical coordinator) more than anybody and she is so kind,patient and attentive. I want to thank her the most for staying in contact with me when I needed it the most. She is an asset to their team.

Negative experience: Every single teleMed appointment I have had they would no show me. I would sit online for over 30 minutes waiting for them. Then I would call the office to be on hold more for them to tell me my appointment was canceled. I was never once informed my appointments were canceled. I would even get the confirmation appointment with the link for the appointment the night before. Or they would book me a Telemedicine appointment then book it in office but never tell me till I would call asking why I never received my link. This place is so unorganized, so rude, they will cancel your appointments, switch your appointments, whatever they want and not inform you of what they do. I don’t ever write reviews or complain but after being jerked around for months I have finally had ENOUGH of this.

After having previously been unsuccessful and not getting approved through another reputable bariatric program close to where I live I did as much research as possible and came across NYBG. The journey to taking that first step was long but everything fell into place so quickly afterward!! The ladies in the Fairfield office, Dr Sekhar, PA Emily and even the phone reps have been nothing short of outstanding when it comes to the time, attention and support they provide! I started my journey with them in January 2021, had my surgical procedure 4/19/2021 and have already had a successful post-op appt. Everyone has been great! Understanding. Supportive. And most of all - encouraging! Love having my own side of cheerleaders!! I was so skeptical at first to even reach out but realized that first step is always the hardest. I was nervous and just really didn’t want it to be the same rotten experience I had with the previous program. I’m so glad I took that leap of faith with this program through this specific office. While there’s always room for improvement the staff in this office gives 110% often multitasking to make sure they’re running on time or close to schedule. Love that they always make me feel like I matter when I go in. Not bc of the money but they are just an extremely welcoming bunch! I didn't experience any discomfort following my gastric sleeve! I've returned to work and driving as I've haven't had the need for pain medication. There are of course, dietary and physical limitations, but they are easy to work with. I would highly recommend New York Bariatric Group to anyone who is exploring bariatric surgery.

Positive experience: I was very nervous about doing the Consultation during the whole idea of even attempting to have surgery but after you know doing all my steps in my clearances and actually just having my surgery last week to be exact it wasn’t that bad it wasn’t as hard as I thought it would’ve been I’m still recovering but I’m praying everything works out in this company has been really good to me let me understand and been there a whole step away I recommend if this is a journey that you would like or thinking about step into then this is a great company and great doctors that will assist you. Only downfall they never answer their phone and you have to speak to another rep to even leave a message

Negative experience: This is a hard review to write. The staff at the Fairfield location is amazing, Lyling (the office manager) in particular -- she's an absolute rockstar. That said -- whenever I am contacted by the NY office (what I assume is the main office) people are rude on the phone, interrupt you, and try to over-sell you. I recently submitted an email, which the website said would go to my specific surgeon. A woman named Ashley called me, apparently read my email (which was supposed to be between my surgeon and I) and tried to upsell me on a revisional surgery (which is totally unnecessary and did NOT address my concerns listed in the email). When I turned that down, she tried to sell me on a "medical weight loss" program which costs over $2,000. None of my questions were answered, she was rude and short on the phone, and I am seriously considering finding another group to work with -- a group that is perhaps smaller, more locally focused, and treats their patients with the attention and respect deserved.

I had a bowel obstruction due to scar tissue and he was able to perform laparoscopic surgery when I believe most others would have gone for a large incision.
