Fantastic experience: My 5 year old boys are getting a lot out of jiu-jitsu the coaches are absolutely amazing. Not only teaching jujutsu, but teaching them good sportsmanship, and as the sign in the gym says, sometimes they win, and sometimes they learn

Fantastic experience: This place has a really good community. Lots of fighters from all skill levels and a diverse group of both men and women! I like that coach Morgan keeps it real without being rude and the teaching style works for me. I’d say the program is very much oriented around being self sufficient but never in a way that’s isolating. Really love this gym!

Fantastic experience: I went to a couple of BJJ open mats here while visiting Flagstaff. It's a clean, welcoming gym with a good mix of skill levels. Sunday open mat is especially fun (lots of people rolling). I'll be back soon!

Fantastic experience: Great place to get in a solid workout in flagstaff. Was in town for a week and used the facility almost every day. Have everything you need to get in a solid workout from free weights to cable machines to platforms. All types of barbells and plenty of room. I will be using this place again when I am in need of a gym in flagstaff.

Negative experience: All the equipment at this gym is very old. Some is already broken and the rest feels like it was going to break any minute while I was lifting. It’s not even safe to workout at the gym! That’s why I had to move to another gym facility.

Fantastic experience: I've been training BJJ and lifting at Insurgent for just over a year and it's been a fantastic place to train. The gym is clean with all the gear you need to get a great workout, and the BJJ classes are excellent with either Coach Morgan or Cody. I trained for a year or so at a different gym prior to moving to Insurgent, and the skill level on the mat, intensity of rolls, and overall instruction is so much better than my previous spot. I also love that the gym offers noon classes as well as evening classes for BJJ and I've heard great things about the Muay Thai from friends who train both Jitz and striking. Do yourself a favor and stop in for a class!

Fantastic experience: Trying Jiu Jitsu for the first time and the class is very fun! Everyone is very kind and helpful! You can come in with no knowledge and just dive in! Insurgent is so welcoming and is a great place to start! The gym floor is also well equipped and spacious! I am enjoying this facility a lot and would recommend it to anyone looking for a great gym with really unique amenities (cold plunge/sauna/24 hour access)

Fantastic experience: Super easy access. Very responsive. We were visiting for a week and called other gyms and the process was a pain. This took us 10min and we were in and working out for the week.

Fantastic experience: Insurgent fitness is a fantastic facility. I'm an Olympic weightlifter who visited from out of town, and this gym had everything I needed! Spacious, clean and great equipment. I also really appreciated the remote access app which was helpful for an out of towner to use.

Fantastic experience: At first I came here because it was the cheapest day pass location I could find but it instantly became a gem location for me. I book trips to flagstaff just to workout here and get away for a bit.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been coming to this gym on and off for the past couple years and there’s a reason I came back! There’s a sense of community in all aspects of this place! Morgan has always been nothing but helpful to me and is also very knowledgeable when it comes to Martial Arts! If you’re on the fence about this place, I would figure out a way to meet with the staff for a tour or just pull the trigger on a day pass!

Fantastic experience: Stayed in Flagstaff for a few months, and found Insurgent Fitness - I got myself a gym membership, and put my girls in their Kids Brazilian Jiu-jitsu class for a great price! Not only that, but seeing how the BJJ coaches teach, discipline, and build relationships with the kiddos was the cherry on top. My kids tend to be apprehensive and bashful, and with each coach having different personalities and skills, my kids were able to feel comfortable, and settled in faster than with other programs we have tried. Can't say enough about the love the coaches have for the sport, and it shows through their coaching the kids.

Fantastic experience: I stopped in to try BJJ at Insurgent and I must say I was impressed. The facility is airy and very clean, and the culture was welcoming (I'm not a typical-looking student, neither male nor young). My two training partners were kind, helpful, and patient, as was Coach Morgan. His teaching ability is outstanding; he seemed to pay attention to every individual and was able to run a class full of students single-handedly. I really like the structure they have, where you can really sink in to a technique and its variations and defenses for a week at a time. There seem to be more female students here than other clubs I've visited, and the guys were friendly and respectful. They have lots of classes to choose from. They're casual in a good way, and exclusively no-gi. Definitely check them out!

Fantastic experience: Was in Flag in June and July for school. Insurgent is an excellent and very welcoming gym, especially being an out of town female new to jiu jitsu. Can’t wait to be back next summer. Must stop by if you’re in the area!!!

Fantastic experience: The Muay Thai classes allow for a great balance between learning technical skills and practicing sparring. I came in as a complete beginner, and Morgan as well as the class members made me feel welcome right away. Morgan is a great instructor, and insurgent is a wonderful supportive community of positive, hard working athletes. Also, the classes are an amazing workout!

Fantastic experience: Morgan and his team have given my son so much confidence and autonomy in the BJJ youth program. His curriculum is motivating and progressive, he’s passionate about training and teaching. It has been amazing watching my son and really my whole family thrive at this gym.

Highly recommend this place for some who is scared to start training martial art with no experience. The 24 hour access is the best because I can train after I get off work at 7. The cold plunge and sauna are great and private.

Fantastic experience: Insurgent Fitness is a positive, empowering, and welcoming environment that I am so happy to have started the online training program with! Michelle went above and beyond to take time to do some 1-on-1 training to ensure I felt comfortable and used the correct form to avoid hurting my body. I used to avoid the weights rooms when at the gym but Michelle ensure you feel confident and excited to start her online program! Fantastic experience: I’ve been training jiu jitsu here for about two months now and have really enjoyed it so far. There’s a solid group that regularly rolls here, and it’s not a massive class size which I appreciate. Good mix of different skill levels, so I get the opportunity to not only practice with people with similar experience to mine, but also learn from the higher belts. It’s a friendly environment, but you will definitely be pushed to improve.

Fantastic experience: I’m so glad I joined this gym a month ago. Jiu Jitsu is so much fun and run well, the Muay Thai drop in also taught me a lot and was a blast. I love the gym and there’s plenty of squat racks and Olympic lift opportunity, beyond a slight lack in bodybuilding machines it’s got more than enough if you know what you’re doing and the team provides constant fun and inspiration

Fantastic experience: Insurgent is a great gym with a welcoming atmosphere. We didn't know what to expect as we had never trained at a gym before, but we were so impressed! We were especially grateful to get lined up with Cameron as our personal trainer! He helped us feel comfortable with the equipment and thoroughly explained the proper form. Because Cameron was always encouraging and patient our strength really increased! Definitely give him ten stars!!!

Fantastic experience: Absolutely the best gym in town. If you are looking for a place to lift they have the best equipment in town (competition grade). If you are looking for a martial arts room look no further...super welcoming and beginner friendly but very high level training and instruction.

Fantastic experience: I was in town for a week and needed a place for workout. I looked online and found these guys. The app was simple to download. The gym has 24 hour access which was great for me. The equipment was great and location was super close to the university where I was staying. I met a few nice people there as well. So not only a great place, but the fellow customers I met were very nice. I assume I'll be back in town again next year and will definitely go again on my next visit.

We called on short notice and we were welcomed immediately to drop in on the no gi class. Awesome facility with mats, weights, and great coaching/training partners. Fantastic experience: I have been training here for a year now and I think it's the best gym hands down. Family-friendly atmosphere and a great community. Very welcoming and loving people that train here. They have made me feel like I am part of a family I never had. Clean mats and equipment. Not over crowded like a lot of other gyms in town I tried and you have the option for 24 hour access. Coach Morgan is the best and supports his family here. I would highly recommend this gym for people who might be afraid to start training. I came in with zero experience and they made me feel comfortable and showed me the ropes. I can not express how much this gym has changed my life for the better. Come try out their open mat Sunday at noon. Just make sure you sign the waiver before you come in. They also have a sauna and Cold plunge which are amazing and private.

Fantastic experience: My son and I really enjoy the Insurgent gym, it's an all inclusive experience with weights and MMA training. The members are very friendly and helpful.

Negative experience: i’ve Been coming to insurgent for over a year and enjoyed it. The community here is actually good, that being said the owner plays favorites and focuses on them more than anyone else. i was a white belt and would grapple with people much more skilled than myself and the owner/ jiujitsu coach would give them direction and advice as we were grappling even though they were beating me. In addition to that he started giving me the cold shoulder for no apparent reason. i always paid my bill on time and was kind yet he would not even acknowledge me in the gym. The training here is decent but the owner is not the most friendly or fair person. on top of all this the muay thai is no longer available because of the petty actions of the owner. I would consider other gyms before coming to train at insurgent

Fantastic experience: This is really one of the best gym operations I’ve seen anywhere. We were staying in Flagstaff for a week and was just searching for a place to workout. This gym was everything I could have asked for and more. Incredibly easy to get a membership for a week, and at an unbelievable value (~25$). Also total flexibility—gym open 24/7. Place had everything you could ever need—weights, calisthenics, martial arts, etc. Very clean and welcoming. Was never crowded when I was there. The app is super easy and convenient—and I am someone who isn’t very skilled with tech. This place truly deserves all 5 stars in my opinion. Would give it a 6th star if that were an option!

Fantastic experience: My friend and I were looking for a place to train BJJ while we on vacation so we went to Insurgent for an open mat. Everyone was welcoming and the rolls were fun and competitive. I definitely recommend this gym for anyone in the area!

Fantastic experience: Their kids Jiu Jitsu class is phenomenal! They are strict yet patient and very encouraging. It is a focused environment that pushes kids in a realistic way. My sons aged 5 and 7 loved it! At other martial arts classes my sons would come back hyped up and exhausted at the same time, after these classes they were tired but not out of control. It also didn't increase their violence level at home like other martial arts classes did.

Fantastic experience: The best Flagstaff has to offer. The owners are always buying new and improved weightlifting/powerlifting equipment. Absolutely zero complaints.

Fantastic experience: My son goes to the kids jiu-jitsu class at insurgent. We absolutely love it! Coach Morgan, Coach Elle and Coach Matt are excellent instructors that are teaching the kids not only technique but important life skills that aren't taught very often nowadays. I feel very lucky to have found Insurgent Fitness and highly recommend them!

Fantastic experience: Best gym in Flagstaff for powerlifting and strength training without a doubt (I tried four of the competitors before and during the pandemic). Equipment, access, and staff are all tier 1.

Fantastic experience: Coach Morgan and his staff are really great. Willing to discuss and work through different situations that come up. Their kids jui jitsu program is really ran well. The kids get individual attention and learn a lot.

Fantastic experience: This gym is incredible. It has everything you could ever dream of. We got a one day pass, and purchasing it/using the Insurgent app was very easy and convenient. We had a lifting session with only a handful of other folks in the gym. We had a great experience here, and I wish we had something like this back at home. Fantastic experience: Amazing gym! Bought a week pass for our vacation. As powerlifters who travel a lot, we have been to a bunch of gyms and this one is in the top for sure. Perfect spot for those looking to stay on program while exploring the area! If we lived here we would be members fo sho. Best part is how easy it was to get a week pass online and have it immediately activated. Instructions are very clear but they’re responsive on social media if you have any questions. In terms of equipment, my coach didn’t even need to modify my program much. They’ve got belt squat, specialty bars, combo rack, and calibrated plates in addition to the standard equipment you’d expect. Love love love, thanks insurgent for making our lifting experience here awesome!!

Fantastic experience: Coach Morgan let me come in and roll while I was in town visiting. Great gym culture, great technical instruction, Lots of intense rolls with good workout partners. We spent 30 minutes rolling live in specific positions, then spent 20 minutes doing some technical question and answer with Coach, then some live rolls to finish out the practice. Coach rolled with me during the first part of practice, then showed me a submission to add to one of my favorite series (a triangle out of a north-south kimura) and I was able to hit it during the live rolls at the end… Thanks again!

Fantastic experience: I finish the 8 week Empower program this week and I am HOOKED! This has been such an awesome experience with Michelle and I have seen so much progress! I can’t wait for the next 8 weeks! I would recommend this program and gym to anyone!
